No problem with my computer to portable USB with the XP system

Hi gotebo,.

1. check if it is detected in Device Manager. Follow the steps below:

a. click on start

b. click on run

c. in the open run, type devmgmt.msc and check if the device is detected

2. run the patch from the link below: a computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925196

  • PC tries to boot from external USB instead of the internal hard drive at startup

Hi, I just took delivery of a refurbished Pavilion p6793. I noticed that the system does not boot if I have my external USB drive connected. It happens with one cannot find the message of charger and asks me to hit ctrl-alt-del to restart. I suspect it's because it's the search for the o/s on USB instead of the internal hard drive. Can you tell me what I need to check and change to allow me to boot from the hard drive even if the drive is connected. Thank you.

    Hello:

You should probably go into your BIOS by pressing F10 at HP welcome screen and changing the options in the start for the HDD menu start the first.

Then you can set the boot for other devices as you order please.

Make sure that you save your settings, where you made the change, and again when you go out.

When you specifically want to start on a device, press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen and you will be presented with a single boot options menu where you can choose from any one of the bootable devices listed.

  • My Mac has crashed. Reinstalling my operating system or hard drive replacement will cause me to lose my Adobe Master Suite?

I bought my Macbook Pro 17 (it's a Mid-2009, running Cougar 10.8.4) used on eBay, and it came with Adobe Master Suite CS5. I pursued a degree in graphic design, and the computer had everything that I needed to start. Now that I'm out of College, I rely heavily on InDesign and Photoshop to get the job done. However, after five years of loyal service without problem, my Mac has crashed and I have never used time Machine. I might have to reinstall Mountain Lion or replace the hard drive. Reinstalling my operating system or hard drive replacement will cause me to lose my Adobe Master Collection of applications? I can save them somehow?

Any reply and help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Western digital external USB 2.0 500 GB hard drive not recognized by Windows 7 Explorer. How can I fix it? ___Thank you for your help.

The hard drive worked well until KB2398632 & KB2347290 updates have been downloaded and installed on 16/09/10.  Hard drive works fine on my Vista machine at work.

On my own machine (Windows 7), the drive is seen in my BIOS.  He also appeared in the "features and properties" of the control panel Windows 7 and the 'properties' indicates that the device is functioning properly.  The pilot is also updated.

It does not appear in the Windows 7 Explorer under 'computer '. Only the C: drive is indicated.

My AMD South Bridge set drivers are up to date my USB 3.0 being drivers.

Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive is several years old.

two updates have no effect to detect the hardware. It was an IE and and update printer spooler. Remove it from the Device Manager and plug it into another USB port. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 with SATA USB adapter 512th Advanced Format HARD drive

    Hello:

I want to clone the HARD drive in my system via a USB to SATA Adapter for an identical external HARD drive - this record could then be used to get back in the quick business failure of internal drive. Internal and external drives are the types of advanced Format.  The drive is: HGST HTS541010A9E680. I see the 4 areas of native k when the disk is connecetd via a USB adapter?  So far, my older USB/SATA Adapter shows the areas 4096 bytes, not he emulated disk 512 byte sectors.

    Thank you

    Hi @teranz

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the adapters can be hit or miss, not always reliable. You could talk to the manufacturer of the adapter for advice.

Regarding booting from a USB key, it looks like you want to install the OS on a USB device. It is possible with some advanced configuration, but it is out of the reach of these forums. You may find help by searching for «portable Windows installation»

  • USB works only with different HARD drive...

Both are Acer Aspire laptops. We have AMD, another, intel. AMD, one died, leaving behind my harddrive perfectly well with all my stuff on this subject. The intel we get my hard drive (from AMD). This works. Only problem: USB ports do not work. Not at all. If I look in Device Manager... There is a label of warning exclaimation on my video display (error code 12. Yet there are a lot of free resources)... and a crapload of all listed Universal Serial Bus ports, with this warning symbol but error code 37. I've exhausted all options on how to 'fix' my problem... but a little problem... I have not met my problem as a whole. Everyone elses problems comes from everywhere to connect to a device USB so he can stop working until an update of windows did. There should be no problem, but it is a. Oh yes, windows 7 x 64 is the operating system. I downloaded and installed all the drivers Acer, except amd... hmm... looking up for this portable body and mind (hdd) that he is supposed to have... idea k. In the meantime, someone knows what to do?

My old acer aspire has a 5538 (AMD)... new is a 5734z (intel).
    both win7 x 64 OS.
Other than the display device supposed to do not have enough resources,
and the multitude of usb drivers failed (there are only 2 ports usb, btw),
and the former stop cash, while this one is black... they are the same. Same amount of GB, operating system, bios, you name it.
Guess I'll go back to acer.com and download drivers for the old laptop, see if windows will then expose to correct things.
It's a good time to go to College and be stuck with buying what they have on campus, huh? Yes, the USB ports are quite necessary for...
Thank you all for taking the time to listen. Surely someone who reads this has such an experience?

    Hello

    Your post is confusing.

You trying to start in and use the hard disk and the operating system out of the device in a more recent machine broken?

If so, you cannot legally install and boot into hard drives and their operating systems that have been transferred to another machine, unless you are licensed by the retail, which would require a reinstall anyway for the reasons listed below in my response.

The two Acers have preinstalled OEM licenses of operating system on them and these licenses are tied to the original machine and are not transferable.

    .

And the hard drive that came out the breakage of the machine has drivers for the motherboard, etc of the broken machine, not the newer machine.

So you will be naturally enough have problems of recognition of hardware, including USB controllers, etc.

And don't you can't change drivers in the old hard drive and the old operating system.

I suggest that you save your data from the old hard drive and then use it to store data in the newer machine.

    See you soon.

The person who took my hard drive works perfectly on my old laptop and put it in my new body of laptop is a licensed computer technology. He thought that it should not be a problem even if the chip inside the new case was a pentium from intel.

He installed all the drivers for the new motherboard laptop on my hard drive. But, the 'graphics card' intel (R) 4 series express chipset family had an error code 12 'lack of resources to operate this view"in Device Manager. And my USB ports do not work, gives error 37 and not all record as that of operation. So I could not use my USB stick for school work done. I got in touch with him. He took my hard drive out and placed a hard drive for acer with processor intel pentium. If it was not so urgent for me to need my computer... I would expect it 3.5 more weeks for an amd processor chipset 'inside' body (case of the motherboard).

So... now my 'problem' is 'solved' regarding my question went.

  • LR catalog on a dedicated USB key and on separate HARD drives of the photo

I have Photoshop for PS6 until CS5 but am new to Lightroom 5.3 which I bought a license because of my camera Fuji X-Pro1 does not not in Camera Raw, level CS5.

I watched movies tutorial (very good) Julieanne and I must say that my initial dislike of the catalog system has changed. In fact: I love and find a huge advantage, not in the last place because it will force finally organize me my photos. So I want to start a really good catalog from the start method.

As you can install it with a single license Lightroom on a primary computer and a portable computer (same owner and used for travel) I've been musing on the following points:

If I install a vacuum om a 16 GB USB key dedicated to the catalog and begin to organize my photos on an external HARD drive (I have a SSD in my self-assembled pc) from within lightroom and add news via a smaller HARD drive external travel
I guess it could be the easier implementation for laptop and home computer. The Lightroom Catalog stick and the travel RFP will work very well with the laptop, and within LR, back home, I could easily move my new photos from the hard drive trip to grand.

In the eye of expert-users, would be the disadvantages?
I hope I have made myself clear...

Erik, it's where you think wrong. Just, you can import your files/folders on site and arrange them how you want. What's different, is that now do you this in and with Lightroom, organization rather than the operating system. You can adapt and or change the structure/organization at any time for each new type you can come up with.

    ErikHeyninck wrote:

It is also a valid point and something I'm musing all since my last entry. The problem with the LR is that with any other application, you can install it and start working, but LR wants that first know you exactly how you organize your files. You can just start using it. In fact, you * can * but then you miss the power of organizing capacity.

I also installed new memory Crucial upgrade to 16 GB.   All new "hardware" is installed on the computer. I had this all in one at Wal-Mart 2 years ago and it did not come with the recovery disk or they were lost.

  • I have an ACER Veriton M221 - dual operating system on hard drive - I want change the XP to Windows 7

I need instructions to change my OS from XP to win 7 opersting system supplied with the machine, on the hard drive.

    Nice day

Normally with the double load, Windows 7 is the primary OS and then you switch to XP. However, once you switch to XP, the only way to get back to Windows 7 using recovery disks of Windows 7, you must have created before downgrading to Windows XP. However, the procedure will be to click on start, all programs, Acer eRecovery management, restore, completely restore to the factory settings, click on and you then get a pop up in the middle of the screen with Windows XP X 86 and options Windows 7 x 86 which you can select one, click ok, then, machine will restart and begin to load the operating system that you selected.

    Kind regards

  • Cursor flashing at the start of the system and hard drive not working do not on the other computer

Original title: I need help with my Hardrive

Recently I had problems with a hard disk of computers. So I'm going to give guys the full story, I fell on this computer, it's actually my mums computer and it had a blue screen at startup error. I'm sorry, but I don't remember that the error was called on the top of my head, basiclly I quikly searched online and alll they say should use fixboot. So I did and the computer booted Windows XP very well. So the next day, when I was starting the machine (just to let you know, it would be the first start since I used fixboot, other than the right after that, I don't know if it would make a difference).

In any case, while trying to start, there was just a slider, or as underscore that retain just flashing in top left corner. I thought that maybe I should reinstall windows on another partition so my files would be safe. I did it, the installation program had no problem with it, but when I booted up I got the same line of flashing underscore / cursor in the upper left corner.

I thought that maybe I should back up the hard drive using my other computer so I tried to plug in the hardrive in my work computer and the hardrive started to heat up and as if it worked but any hardrive was getting into my computer, I refreshed it, started the computer upward once again, nothing.

So my question is what is the problem with this hardrive and how I save? I'm ready to do anything, use the live CD, using another computer. I have precious moments of family on the hardrive.

    Thank you guys

    Hi Joemost,

As you have important data on the hard drive. We recommend that you contact the vendor of hard drive to diagnose hard drive or visit the nearest tech store to save your data.

There are chances that the boot files are missing on the computer and also you could have not connected the hard drive as a slave when you connected to the other computer. Once you have saved the data, you can repair the existing windows and check if it starts successfully.

Try these steps to repair install Windows XP:
    a. start the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS OF THE system for the CD starts before the hard drive.
    b. on the "Welcome" screen, press ENTER to start the installation of Windows.
    c. accept the license agreement and Windows will search for existing installations of Windows.
    d. Select the XP installation you want to repair in the list, press R to start the repair.
    e. the installation program copies the necessary files to the hard disk and restart.  Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were a clean install, but your applications and settings are preserved.
    f. when the installation is complete, check if Windows starts correctly.

  • HPE 570 T operating system failed - hard drive may be gone

I have a HPE 570 T where exploitation would not start this weekend.  I got this computer a year and change.  I couldn't do it via safe mode and Windows 7 Startup Repair won't work.  I was able to reimage the hard drive and I was about one hour and was some windows updates and it died again.  Now it wont let me reimage and in BIOS diagnostics I get an error injury messages that the hard drive has failed.  I think that the hard drive is dead, or the SATA connection is dead. I don't know what else to do.

I read that the SATA ports some time fail over time on these motherboards.  I wonder if I can buy an SSD and SATA III PCI card and start from scratch.   I I'm OK to do on this system.  If fail built-in SATA ports that could solve my problem in the long term.

Any advice?  My computer is down for the count.

    Hello

First of all check the warranty status for your HP HPE - 570 t.  Some of the HP PC come with a one year warranty more.

Secondly, almost everyone buys a PC using a credit card.  Check with your credit card company and see if your credit card covers electronics for an additional year beyond the warranty period.  Several credit card companies provide this coverage free of charge.

Start your PC in diagnostics (f2) and run diagnostics.

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for the son. HP do not have an update of the firmware.

DevManView let me see all the devices that are installed.

I disabled the device I think about the origin of the conflict, but which has not set a problem.

I'll have to get the keys to void Current Control Set.

  • Cannot copy files from a USB USB Kingston on WD external hard drive

When I try to copy large groups of a Kingston DT101 (32 GB Tumbdrive) files on an external hard drive WD (WD3200MLSP: 32 GB) the computer does nothing and there is no "Copy" dialog box I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but it does not work. However, when I copy only the sections of the USB hard disk, then copy works. I use the Ctrl + C to copy the files and the light on the USB flashes on then off. Then, when I navigate to the folder on the hard drive and I press Ctrl + V to paste the files, the light on the USB key turns on and remains lit. However, the lights on the hard drive WD do nothing.

It depends on the size of the file.

It files are 4GBs or more and the player is formatterd to FAT32, it will not transfer due to limitations of size of FAT32 file transfer...

You can create a Windows repair flash disk, but Windows itself does not run on a flash drive. It requires an internal drive.
