Useful signal?

In the doc, we see a lot of signal as onTitleBarChanged, onContentChanged, onAction added... But they are not really useful since it's our code, that change the content. If we already knew. What is the point of these signals?

On the other hand, there are very few real event/entry signals. As onButtonClicked or notecard. How do we know if the user:

-Reached the end of a scrollview

-Comes to a specific node visible by scrolling

- ... And many events, we had direct or indirect access with Java Blackberry or Android

Everyone feels the same?

Just to answer the "what is the point of these signals", a point is that practically all interesting properties are implemented more or less automatically to notify the change, so they can be used in links in QML. Without these "on...» Changed"signals, I don't think you could create links with one of these properties.

Another point is that even if your code has changed the content, if you "knew" a given change, how to write your code so that the code that changes something knows also on all the other things which may depend on that change is a bad practice, resulting in the 'fragile' and clumsy designs. Relying on the on... Notification of change of signals, you can set links where the person responsible for changes to the code knows nothing about other things who care changes. It allows you to create reusable components, have a code cleaner and simpler models.

On the more basic question, I agree we are missing many useful and important signals and hope to see the next update to improve things in this area. I think there are (logistic) reasons why we don't have them yet, but I have my fingers crossed we'll see more of them soon.

Note that quietly waiting to see these things happen is not the most effective way to ensure that this happens. Make detailed lists of desired specifications, preferably with use of the case while they do not sound like a catchall of "wouldn't be cool if" ideas without a real need and each message in the forums, write a blog and point people, (perhaps best option) or submit a feature request in JIRA incidents Manager. If you don't wait too long to do this, you will improve the chances of the best ideas will be added before the launch.

  • calibration of strain using Signal Express measurers

    Hello

The first time asked. Thanks in advance.

I use NI DA system to record the strain of a strain gauge 1/4 350 odm. The connection string would be extensometer---> SCXI-1314 (Terminal)---> SCI 1520 (block 2). I connected the cable to the S - P + and PIN the SCI QTR 1314. The value of the strain appear in LABVIEW EXPRESS. Now, I need to calibrate the extensometer (OFFSET REMOVAL and CALIBRATION of SHUNT). I'm stuck... I have two specific questions:

    1. when I just check 'Offset the removal' in 'calibration' tab error-200380 orrcurs. Can you guys help out me?

    2. I noticed that there are specific pins for the SCXI-1314 shunt calibration. If I wanted to shunt calibration, must I change my wiring, so that the resistance of odm 100 k can be included in the circuit?

    Thank you very much.

In your first post, you have the cable signal since the pledge is going to S- My first suggestion is to move your thread to signal S - s + if you don't have it already done. When 1/4 hanging bridge you only have access to R3 and R4 which are on the + next to the bridge. This high an error on your gain stage is usually a wiring problem or you maneuver the arm hurt in the bridge. In the calibration Assistant spend R4 R3 and see what happens.

    How connected your pledge?

Of your pledge, you should have 3 wires. Vex + (red) on a tab of the pledge and shunt cal and GIS (tied together) on the other tab of the gauge. See my attachment to a vision of how I wired my system. Other colors, the screenshot of your wiring diagram looks like it should work. The difference being, ma sig + is green and the shunt is brown; where your of seems to be white and black. Anyway, double check your pledge and make sure that leads back to your terminal block are where they should be. In the 1314 default shunt resistors are all 100 kilohms unless something has changed in your system, you should be fine.

You can attach a copy of the file .seproj or tab 'Settings' from your screenshot strain gage configuration window. Things like factor value excitement and resistance will affect your calibration and output.

  • Using signal (+/-10 000 g) accelerometer

    Hi all

I use an accelerometer for measurements of vibrations.

The accelerometer is connected to an external excitation device to provide the excitement of the accelerometer (coupler-Kistler). The coupler is then connected with the NI SMU-6361 module which is connected to the NI PXI3-1073 chassis. Based on the gain of 1 and the excitement of voltage of +/-10V, the accelerometer can provide + / 10 000 g. I use assistant DAQ for now to see the signal and then moved to DAQmx. I chose the option of tension instead of tension with excitement and I put the settings +/-10V for max and min values of signal, CSR for Terminal configuration. I also used the option of scaling of the table for the g-10 000 to-10 V and 10 000 g for 10 V. The accelerometer does not seem to work properly as long as the signal does not change. Is it possible for the advice me what goes wrong with the configuration of acceleration it please?

    Thank you.

How to set up the chain of coupler/measure:

    Your sensor has a sensitivty (let's say it's a constant for a given frequency range) S_ug [mV/g] and you add the coupler with a gain of G_c [V/V = 1]. so you get S_total [mV/g] = S_ug * G_c

The acquisition of your data can read + 5V-(lire les spécifications en détail, généralement qu'ils peuvent lire jusqu'à 5.5V) and the maximum expected acceleration is?

You can always overtemperature or increase the G_c to measure your signals in an optimum range.

You read a voltage u (t) and g (t) = u (t) / S_total.    You can do this conversion in your program, or tell MAX / DAQmx for that already in the driver.

You should read the manual of the hitch on the way to configure the gain or sensitivity.

If you measure the pulses, lockout for above 10 kHz signals... you can always use the sensor (up to maybe 40-60 kHz), but some more signal processing is involved in this case and make an FFT on the signal. (or a higher uncertaincy)

If you have the functions of transfer of the probe and the coupler, you can convert your signal in frequency domain, compensate for the functions of transfer and convert bach in time domain, to get a better estinate of your acceleration.

  • Application using Signal Express RTSI

    Hello

I am interested in recording of analog signal synchronization (start time, acquisition of the sample, 3 cards PCI-6289 stop time) and possibly their synchronization with 3 to 5 more cards NI PXI-6221, that are connected to the same host PC via a PCIe-8361 interface PXI-8360.  For now, I will focus on the 3 cards PCI-6289.  I used a RTSI cable with VI recorder is no longer supported and guess that it works well with Signal Express.  I've set up a device cable RTSI NOR able & Automation, which includes 3 PCI cards.  3 PCI cards are the only devices connected to the RTSI cable.  When you check the properties of the RTSI cable device, I left all the boxes unchecked, that seems to be the right setting for my application.  In Signal Express, when you add a device in the Panel on the left of data acquisition (analog voltage signals), I always see each individual card (Dev1, Dev2, Dev3, etc.), but there is no device RTSI.  If I look into the advanced features of synchronization of each of the three panels DAQAcquire, I can apparently use a card as a master clock and the two other cards will have master card sync signals (is it automatically via the RTSI cable, or do I need to connect external clock out on the master card to the clock on the slave cards?) but once again There is no mention of the cable RTSI, or configuration of device RTSI in MAX.  Using the clock of a card in a situation of master/slave help, but it starts and stops all three cards at the same time, or no apparent synchronization between maps will simply be a coincidence?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Brian

You really need your question to the SignalExpress Commission. Few people here use it.

  • How to extract the signal from the waveform of my power level designated?

    Hi all

How can I extract the signal of the waveform accroding to the power level? I read the Trigger & Gate .vi, but this vi retrieves the signal duration. I want to extract the signal depending on the power level.

As shown in the following figures, the signal I want to deal with is between 130000 to 140000, if I Zoom, I can see the useful signal is between 135400 to 138200. The question is how to extract the signal in the area?

I tried the sub_NoiseEst_And_Chop_Shell.vi in the example of Packet_based_link also, but this Subvi seems to be a bit slow. Can someone give me the best advice? Thanks in advance!

I'm working on something similar, but have not had time to fully develop.

  • Is it possible to use the internal clock for meter tasks in the buffer?

    Hello

    Hardware: USB term mass 6251

    Software: LabView 2011 SP1

I need to measure the angular lever position and speed of a carpet. For that I use two quadrature encoders. To accurately calculate the speed I use buffered from the measures of position using one of the available onboard counters. I understand that for this technique, I provide a sample for the meter clock. I wonder if it is possible to use the internal time base. Note that both of my counters are used so I can't generate a signal to clock with them.

I found two conflicting pages related to my problem:

    1) http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/EA7FFFEAFC3E1D85862572F700699530

    2) http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/775290A3121D1FFC862577140074D3B3

The first says that I can use the internal clock of 100 kHz, and the other says that I have an external clock.

    Comments/solutions?

    Javad

    Hi Javad,

On your specific device, there is not a direct route from the time base of 100 kHz for the meter (according to the routing table of MAX):

Yellow cell indicates that a route is possible but there is not direct (the "gate" terminal is used as sample clock for counters of the M series).  Mouse on the cell reveals yellow that make this route really requires the use of a counter (so it is not suitable for your application).

On the line above "100kHzTimebase" you will notice it is called 'FrequencyOutput', which does not have a direct route to the door.  This would be the way to go if you want to route 100 kHz (or some other frequency) as your sample counter clock - you can set it up the same way to a standard meter output task:

The output frequency doesn't have that many features like a meter output, but it is able to generate a continuous stable frequency.  There are only 32 different frequencies that can be generated using Freq Out on the 6251:

    {10 MHz, 100 kHz} / {01:16}

Do not forget that the resolution of your measure of frequency by using this method will be equal to how many times you update the measure (hopefully, that makes sense).  In other words, if at the end of all the 1 second, you take the total number of charges since the last second, you would have a 1 per second equal resolution change in the number.  If you take the difference twice per second, you would end up with half the resolution.  You will be sampling the account register fairly quickly, but you will need only to do the calculation of the frequency after that all N samples in order to obtain a significant number.

Another method that will certainly give a higher resolution in less time at typical speeds of coders is to set up a measurement of the frequency (the counter will count the internal 80 MHz base time period your external signal and the pilot calculates the frequency based on the result).  This method uses only a single entry - so you can just feed the 'A' your encoder quadrature signal (the method will not work if you are interested in absolute position or direction).  Without using signals A and B together, you will be susceptible to noise (which is common to have a quadrature encoder) that you want to delete (perhaps by setting up a digital filter).  Finally, you want to set a reasonable timeout on your reader calls (which will be blocked until a period of your external signal occurs), and the error-200284 handle simply report "0Hz" to make sure that your program is still sensitive even without an external signal present.

    Best regards

What can I do to increase enforcement of the mother Wavelet?

    Hi janotron

If you explore this example you can see how to increase the value of the wavelet, also if you have the file with the value of the wavelet, you can use the walevert filter to read a file, you can serch in the labview examples Wavelet selection order.

Here is a link that explains how to create the value of the walevert Custom Wavelet analysis using Signal Processing Toolkit in LabVIEW

As I've mencioned before Wavelet could then be treated using the Wavelet filter, here is the link which explain how to use the filter walevert WA Wavelet filter VI

  • Alternating - Signal Express sampling frequency

Hi, Im trying to get data using Signal Express + NOR USB-6211, I put the sample rate to 44100 Hz. and everything seems to be ok, but when I checked the data I realized this time column does not increase in a period time constant (ie. sample FREQ not fixed).

    For example:

    1 / (Time (1) - Time (2)) = 43478,26 Hz.

    1 / (Time (2) - Time (3)) = 45454,54 Hz.

and it constantly alternates between the two frequencies. I have to perform an FFT and Im not sure what is the actual frequency and which continues.

I appreciate any help on this issue.

    Kind regards.

This seems to be a bug that NEITHER should be aware of if they are not already.

If you set the frequency of sampling to 44100, the actual sampling frequency will be (20 MHz / 453) or ~44.150 kHz.  The USB-6211 case has a basis of TIME 20 MHz (±50 ppm) and this clock is divided by an integer to derive the sample clock.  The sampling frequency is always be forced to match to the top if you choose a rate that can only be achieved with a wide divider.  Regardless of what the file shows, map DAQ itself samples at a uniform rate (unless you use an external clock, or something like that...).

As for the behavior in the column duration... I know exactly how you look at it but I get the same behavior is written my data using 'absolute time' for the time column to an ASCII file (or by using a file LVM, which always uses the absolute time).  With the help of 'on time' however gives me a correct result.  I can't speculate on the cause... it seems likely to me that there is a comma floating rounding error (absolute time is in terms of seconds since 1904, so the software works with a large number at the same time requiring great precision).

    Best regards

  • use the time stamp value find value Y in another waveform

Hello, there, I'm using labview 2013 sp1. I'm sorry that I can't use a picture to describe the problem.

The wizard sampling DAQ 2 waveforms of 2 channels to HAVE

Want to use mounted on board one of the waveforms as the triger to get the value of Y to another waveform (as was done with an oscilloscope)

    I tried method 2:

    1. the useand use to get the timestamp.

    are - this method works?

the problem is how can I use the value of time I've learned very well the value of Y in other waveforms?

    Thank you much in advance.

I'm sorry you use screw Express, and I'm even more sorry that you are using the dynamic data type.  Using these are not your fault, it's that NEITHER recommend for new developers, but you tend to not have as much control then you type using more stringent data and write the code yourself.

Using Split signals you can withdraw all of your signals since the type of dynamics and process data of each.  Don't know why you would use signals select but which, in my opinion, they do the same thing.  Then, you use DDT to to get your data into a format that is more useful.  Select the Conversion of a single waveform.  The explanation I gave in my previous post is valid.

Joined a VI that does what you want.  You can see that once you have a waveform and its components, you can do a much better job.  Like finding the Min and Max of a wave by using table functions.  It searches the first place where AI0 went above your trigger and then gets the value that AI1 was at this same level, which will be at roughly the same time.  Don't forget not that served it one after the other, so no two samples will be taken at the same exact time for most of the DAQ cards.  Few are simultaneous sampling.

  • How to use the probe PT 1000 with NI 9211

    Hi all

How to use a PT 1000 with NI 9211 temperature sensor?

I am currently using Signal Express, just try to measure the temperature, but so far with no success

    THX in advance,

    Lasse

A NI 9211 is a thermocouple device I.  A PT 1000 is an RTD.  While it might be possible to signal conditioning to get this to work, you're better off:

Purchase of a thermocouple to replace the PT 1000

Or buy a NI 9217 (RTD module) to replace the NI 9211

  • Connection of signals (with parameter) in QML.

    Hello

I want to connect a signal (with parameter) in QML. I have the signal of my PPC and I am able to do that in QML, when I use signals that has no parameters.

I want to connect to signals which takes the parameter.

    app.mySignal.connect (button.doSomething);

I do not mySignal() issue, works very well.

Want to do something like issue mySignal (int) and acess as QML in

    -Thank you

    your signal is:

    mysignal (QString)

then connect to a function like that (qml)

    myClass.mysignal.connect (onmysignal)

    and:

    function onmysignal (mystring) {}

Console.log ("my string is:" + mystring)

    }

If you have several settings, you must be careful with the order and better to use descriptive names, as there is no type in the function definition.

  • Frequency of data record

I'm a complete noobie and trying to record thermocouple data using Signal Express 2012.  I can get the data to save and export to a text file, but it's a recording to 1.1 seconds.  I would like to change to once per second, but do not see this option anywhere on the recording options.  Thanks for any help!

    Tom

    Hi tbsmith,

So I think that you are getting a bit confused. The record is not when you set these options. You want to set the 1 sample per second in the configuration under synchronization settings. This is where you define the moment where the acquired signal. In your case of a thermocouple. I hope this helps.

    Here's a screenshot of it.
