user of iTunes folder

Use an external drive to keep all media files (for reasons of HARD disk storage) and add music to our iTunes music library, I noticed that the files also found in the user on our HARD drive folder... a few questions:

1. After adding music to the library of our external drive, is there a way to prevent those files added to the folder user? I know that coming from the Windows of the iTunes platform, if you right click on the file > get properties, would be able to see that the file was located on the external hard drive but on Mac, if you click on the get info > tab, it shows on the HARD drive. I don't want to get bogged down our HARD drive with music, knowing that they are located on the external hard drive.

2 using the finder, how can move you files from the local HARD disk external drive? Caillet & the folder / files to the new location?

Thanks in advance

1. launch iTunes with the Option key and choose a library on this drive or create an it.

2 drag - move files or use copy / paste. If you press the command key while dragging or Option while collage, they will be removed from the source volume subsequently.

The iTunes media folder location has been given as C:\Users\User\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media and I replaced the iTunes on the new C drive folder with my old iTunes folder copied.

  • Mail application cannot find the user/Library/Mail folder

    Hello

Recently my laptop crashed and I had to reinstall first OSX 10.5.8, so I've updated to 10.6.8 and now I have the latest version of El Capitan.

In the first two versions relocated I could normally restart Mail with my backup files restored (had to reinstall all the good e-mail accounts), but now I want to open the mail application in El Capitan and it won't open, saying that it does not find a user/Library/Mail folder. But it IS a Mail folder and there all the restored items and folders inside.

I also find the file com.apple.mail.plist in my preferences, I thought that maybe that was the problem, but it seems that it is not.

    Can anyone help please?

If the folder you want is "user/Library/Mail" then the folder in fact does not exist.  Try instead "~/Library/Mail.

  • Help to use Cruzer Glide 64 GB to transfer the Itunes folder?

    Can anyone help please?

I bought a SanDisk Cruzer Glide only to transfer my itunes folder everything old PC of Windows XP to a new Windows Vista pc.  My itunes folder size is 47GB, Cruzer Glide is 64 GB

Given estimated duration varied between 24 to 30 hours. Whenever I tried to copy the itunes on the flash drive folder it stopped working after about 20hours (!)

Whenever he can't I deleted all the files he had copied successfully before re - try, as I had no idea of what what is wise because it's all encrypted.

Okay, so I decided now, I would use CruzerGlide without my files being encrypted, because I need the security and maybe this will decrease the time it takes to do what I'm trying to do. I didn't know how to install without this option to access secure flash drive.

Please can someone tell me how always use it only as a basic memory stick?

    +

This will solve the problem I have?

    MANY thanks in advance

Yes, do not use SecureAccess for this task will reduce considerably the time of transfer.

The easiest way would be when you plug the gliding flight and SecureAccess begins SecureAccess farm.  Then access the drive using Windows Explorer.

If you want to disable permanently SecureAccess using Windows Explorer, delete the two files/folders on the gliding flight.

Another consideration, if your files, not your file, are larger than 4 GB, you will need to reformat the drive in NTFS or exFAT.

Under XP, I could just change the 'My Documents' link on each desktop, go to the e. * instead of c *. *, but with win7?

As a Windows Home Server and most wise OS facilities, the system drive is isolated and a drive of 2 or 3 for everything else.  Get a problem? Just restore the system drive.

PS Microsoft: This backup/do imaging software, why don't we name the image so many can all be stored on easily in one place without having to go and rename it or move them elsewhere?

    Hello TomZork,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

In another forum, I found the instructions to move folders of users to another drive.
You can follow the post here. This is attributed to Jimmie R. Houts.

    Article:
You can move the entire folder C:\Users to another drive quite easily once windows is installed:

    1. Boot from the installation media and access the command prompt (I think you need to click on fix everything first)
    2. Use Robocopy to copy C:\Users to D:\Users: robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj
      a. /mir says robocopy to mirror directories, this will copy all files and permissions
      b. /xj is very important, it means robocopy does not follow the points of junction. If you forget this, you will have a lot of trouble.
    3. Make sure that the files copied successfully
    4. Delete c:\Users
    5. Create the junction pointing d:\Users: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users

That's all. I used this process for Vista RTM with no problems.

Here's an article that explains as well. Just use robocopy instead of xcopy as it does in the article in order to avoid possible ntfs permissions problems.

Update: because I discovered the hard way, I thought I would mention also that if you plan on switching "Program Data", or "Program Files" with this method, you will be disappointed to know that everything works as expected, but the windows updates will install is no longer. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in Win 7.

With the foregoing, it is not a Microsoft forum or Web site so you will have to use at your own risk. I also recommend to do a system restore point before making any changes in directories that you can then go back to a previous state.

Please reply back and let us know if these suggestions help you to solve your problem, then to benefit others.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • the iTunes folder copy of office on external hard drive

I'm trying to back up my iTunes music on an external hard drive folder.  Whenever I try to drag the file to another drive, I get an error stating that "the operation cannot be performed because you do not have permission to access the .iTunes Preferences.plist.  I also have problems backing up my iPhone and iPad because I get an error indicating that there is a problem with the purchased content.

By some other posts, I tried to remove the .itunes Preferences.plist file, reboot, restart iTunes and try to copy again - I still get the same message.  I tried different external drives without success.  All discs are in Mac OS extended (journaled) format.  I'm running OS X 10.10.5 on a Mid MacPro 2010 that contains 4 HDDs and using iTunes 12.3.3.17.

Suggestions will be welcome.  Thank you.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    ls -@BOaen M*/iTunes | pbcopy

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered.

The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produces no output, the Clipboard is empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

The Terminal window does not display the output. Please do not copy from there.
