User's home drive do not disconnect on logout - El Cap / SAN / SMB

10.10.5 managed Server 5.1 customers / 10.11.4 Server and the Profile Manager

We have recently moved to a new SAN.  Our old SAN (CEM) used to go nuts if we have enabled SMB 2 when connecting with our Macs.  We forced protocol SMB 1 on our customers and this stopped file corruption and the SAN to bananas.

New SAN (ch) supports SMB 3.  Migrate all user data and found that funny permissions files Mac (movies, music, photos, library etc.).  The "Everyone" group was set to 'Deny' and either remove it, or just refresh perms on a folder that has allowed the correct users access.

When you use SMB 1 on our new SAN, it was slow as dirt, so we have enabled SMB 3.  Much faster.  Our problems are the following:

1 - when a new user is created, and they connect for the first time, they get their 'Mac' folders created.  They are made with the funny perms that prevent users who register in these files.  We got around this new users by creating a template for folder for them BEFORE opening of session that contains the correct permissions.  Store us existing users running a monster script to strip and update perms.

2. when a user logs on to a Mac client in network, their network folder does not disconnect properly, leaving open which means if they connect to another machine their Keychain can go nuts.

Everyone here has experience with Macs and WITHOUT and dubious permissions?

Roughly permissions must be that the owner can access the files and content, but everyone should be declined. As long as the user creates the folder, they should the registered owner.

Yes unfortunately network directories have a lot of questions. This is something that I and others have seen as well as various other issues. I have I feel resolved this by putting in place a logouthook script that takes place as his name when the user disconnects, and checks and if necessary disconnects all left to mount the users home directory. Here's my logouthook script.

#!/bin/bash
# Kill secd processes left running after user logs out
killall -9 secinitd
killall -9 secd
logger "LogoutHook killed processes"
# Unmount network home directory share if left mounted after user logs out
mountpath=`mount | grep /Network | awk '{print $3}'`
if [ "$mountpath" != "" ]
then
  umount -f $mountpath
  logger "LogoutHook unmounted network home"
fi
# Delete old stuff from /private/var/folders - mainly cache files after user logs out
# more as a security measure but also helps clear any bad stuff
find /private/var/folders/* -type d -mtime 1 -exec rm -rf {} \;
exit

  • CD/DVD drive is not detected, the disc is missing or disconnected

Well I have not tried to play anything or anything either burning on my laptop in a while and all of a sudden is not working more I followed suggestions on the microsoft site, but when I went into Device Manager to check on my drive anywhere it lists same CD-ROM/dvd-rom I'm so confused, I don't know what I tried to use microsoft not fixed and it's just as stuck as I am all he tells me it is than its disconnected or missing and cannot be found.

Oh and while I'm asking questions my sound stopped working a few months back the small volume in the lower right corner icon has an 'x' next to him now and he says: no audio output device is installed, I tried following the suggestions online for this with no luck either. I hope that its not anything internal since I just had the motherboard replaced by a few months before this happened

Thank you very much I hope you can help!

    Hello

Well it still might be hardware or wiring.

Restart to make sure that nothing is inteferring with the process.

Step 1: Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
    solves the problem.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are some registry entries
that the troubleshooter does not, and those who "could" be the cause.

Check with your system manufacturer Maker and device for possible firmware updates and the good

  • How can I connect to a user on my drive c that are not not on my user account in my control panel

    Thanks for your help...

    Here's the question...

I am not able to connect to the user account.  When I check the c drive of the user is referenced, but when I checked under the user Panel is not listed.

The question is how can I connect a user account in my c drive not registered on my user account in my control panel?

Files in the folder (C:\Users) user account are left after the removal of the user of a computer account.

Presence of a user account in the C drive does not necessarily a real account by this name need to exist.

  • Vista Home Premium DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

original title: VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32. CRASH

DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

Run the Driver Verifier to verify all 3rd party drivers

Using Driver Verifier is a dubious proposition. Most of the time it will crash and it will tell you what is the driver. But sometimes it will crash and will not tell you the driver. Sometimes it will crash until you can connect to Windows. If you can't mode without failure, then you will have to resort to editing the registry offline to disable driver verifier.

So I'd say you first back up your stuff and make sure you have access to another computer, you can contact us in case of problems. Then do a system restore point (so you can restore the system using the functionality of Vista/Win7 Startup Repair).

    So, here is the procedure:
-Go to start and type "auditor" (without the quotes) and press enter
-Select 'Create a custom settings (for code developers)' and click 'Next '.
-Select "Select individual settings from the list complete" and click "Next".
-Select all of the items EXCEPT FOR 'Low Resource Simulation' and click 'Next '.
NOTE:   You can use low resource Simulation if you want.  From my limited experiences, he made the BSOD come faster.
-Select "Select driver names from a list", then click "next".
Select all drivers NOT supplied by Microsoft, and then click "Next".
-On the next page, select "Finish".

Restart the system and wait that it will crash to the blue screen. Continue to use your system normally and if you know what are the causes of the crash, do it several times. The objective here is to get the system crash because Driver Verifier is stressing out the drivers.  If it does not crash for you, thenlet it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Restart Windows (after the accident) and turn off of driver verifier back in and selecting 'Delete existing settings' on the first page, and then locate and zip the memory dump file and send it with your next post.

If you are unable to Windows because it crashes too early, try safe mode.
If you can't mode without fail, try to use the system from the installation DVD restore to bring the system back to the previous point of restoration that you created.

If this does not work, after back and we'll have to see on the setting of the offline registry entry:
    [code]

Delete these registry keys (works on XP, Vista, Win7):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel

    [/ code]

More info on this on this link: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=244617&sd=RMVP

Zip dumps memory and download them on a free file host.  I recommend Windows Live SkyDrive -http://skydrive.live.com or one another free service, file hosting.  Then post the link to it to your subject so that we can download it.

  • Account name My Vista "a name of the user [name] account log does not exist on Windows Home Server" is not, despite the change.

My Windows Home Server (WHS) prefer the same name of user account on all computers that I use - for the connection and easier access to the files. So to my Vista computer, I changed my account [ancien_nom] name [name]. Vista indicates the name of the new account everywhere but the server after a while (!) stopped recognizing my account and complains about "a name of the user [name] account log does not exist on Windows Home Server" suggesting I should change the name of the account on the ESM. Since I have other computers where I can't change the name of the account (work computer), for this purpose I changed the name of the account on my Vista computer.

The reason why the WHS could work properly at the beginning maybe I can connect to the WHS folders in a separate process by using the new account name. Choose to save the password - which might have worked for a while, but no more. I also tried to connect as a network device, but I do not correctly reconnect with the identification information data (and saved).

1 is the name of initial account stored anywhere even if I changed and the reason why it can pop as in this case?

    2. any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    3. or is the problem only on the side WHS - then I might have to turn to a WHS forum

  • Windows 7 can not disconnect the user

    Hello!

I thought that Windows 7 is the multi-user operating system, but it looks like I was mistaken. Sometimes, you may not disconnect to connect to another user. This happened to me today again. And it wasn't the first time. Then I wait in my exercise of laptop and notebook battery went to hibernation. I plugged in and turn on again and you can not belive - it pick up Windows and continue to end the session. Apparently there is no option to turn it off with the power button / stop. What to do or use an account that one user, of course, Windows 7 isn't able to use more than one user account?
What a beautiful end of week for users of Microsoft products. Yesterday my desktop with Windows 7 PC crashed (BSOD), today in the morning my Windows Phone 7 reboot randomly (it's not resolved and answered: http://goo.gl/xF9fx) and now laptop with Windows 7 doesn't know how to disconnect the user. I can't imagine what would happen if I had an Xbox. I am so happy. :-)

  • XP Home Edition, SP3. Clean install. Printer driver has not been installed. Operation could not be performed.

I searched this problem and what I read it is that it is either due to a failed attempt to install a driver or a driver designed for an earlier version of Windows.

I've never had this problem before, but here are the details.
Clean install of XP Sp3 with all updates installed prior to the installation of the driver.
Brother MFC-490CW downloaded latest driver on the brother support site.
Printer is set up on the WiFi network on IP 10.0.1.2
I created a new Standard TCP/IP Port with the IP 10.0.1.2
I have installed 2 other printers on this network in order to use the printer very well. (Vista and Windows 7)
I get to the very last step on installing printer wizard and click on "Finish".
The pilot progress bar window install window opens for a fraction of a second and closes.
I get the error 'printer driver is not installed. Operation could not be completed.
I tried everything... Any help would be appreciated.

  • Microsoft enhanced Point and print compatibility driver printer driver is not installed on this computer

We are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit (using VMware View 6.1) virtual work stations and the connection of users to a printer Xerox 4 Type driver/file being hosted on a Windows R2 server in 2012. The driver on the server is listed as "Xerox WorkCentre 7970 V4 PCL6" and when the user of Windows 7 connects the driver appears as "Microsoft enhanced driver compatibility point and print. In the "Print Management" client Win7, it appears as the 6.3.9600.17415 version

The Printer works fine during their Windows session, they disconnect you and when they connect in the print queue is still there but when you right click and go to "Printer properties", he throws the following error

"The printer driver ' improved point and print compatibility Microsoft driver" is not installed on this computer. " Some printer properties will be unavailable, unless you install the printer driver. You want to install the driver now? »

Deleting the queue and then add it again resolves the problem for Windows session, you're.

Note: we use Persona management of VMware to save data from the user profile of the disconnections from the virtual offices are non-persistent. I've been able to reproduce this in Windows 7 using a virtual office, I can't reproduce it on my physical Windows 7 machine.

We get around this by using Group Policy and a vbs script to delete the queue on logoff, then another script to add back on logon, but it's just a band-aid.

In addition, a Type 3 driver works fine in all of disconnections but we need the Type 4 driver in this case.

  • PX1237E HARD drive - 1 40 disconnects from the "Windows 2000 Server".

I have 3 USB HARD disk, 2 are the Toshiba model named, and the other is a Seagate HD on a USB enclosure.

I put the tree on a server with "200 Windows server" with Sp4 to make copies of security during the night. When I connect I have 3 new units (E, F & G), but on some instant overnight, 2 hard drives of Toshibas disconnect units F and G and does not copy because there is no such thing as units

I use two disks of password.
Any problem with windows 200 server, because on the product page only mentioned the windows xp pro and home, but say nothing about windows server.
    Any idea on the problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

so if you have used their password, then this might be the reason why disk´s disconnected. Maybe the operating system simply does not support.
Remove the password and try to copy the files again to your server.

  • Cloning hard drive with Clonezilla failed, gave a bad sector error message and now the original hard drive will not boot

    Original title: startup problem

I tried cloning from my hard drive with Clonezilla, and he gave me a bad sector error.  I have since run the hard drive test in bios and it passed.  Anyway, clone has failed, and now the original hard drive will not boot.  My dvd player won't turn when I try to load the Vista repair CD (Vista Home Premium 32 bit).  Clonezilla removes the start settings for the original disc?  And if so, how can I restore it?  The computer starts just a black screen with a cursor at the top left.  When I install the hard drive in a box and connect it to another computer, it shows the partitions and files all seem to be there.

    Hi DougEisenmann,

Clonezilla is not supported by Microsoft.

If you are unable to boot from the Vista repair disk then you will need to go into the system BIOS and make sure that it is configured to boot from the DVD drive.
