SERIOUSLY, PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. She has homework due and I DO it AND ITS A 12 PAGE THESIS.

First of all, when you bought this used computer, you really should have made a "clean" Windows (or other operating system) installation or used some mechanism provided computer manufacturer to "reset to factory conditions."  Otherwise, you have no way of knowing which can hide on this computer, waiting twelve years to find that your old.

Second, if little variety of Windows XP is installed on the computer, please do not allow the computer to be connected to the Internet.  Although it is perfectly safe (other than as indicated above) to use Windows XP for functions not Internet such as writing essays, because XP has been unsupported by Microsoft since April 2014, it is vulnerable to online attacks.

You wrote that you need to "recover our new usernames."  As a general rule, when a computer running Windows XP is activated first, you should see the 'Welcome' screen that displays an icon for each user (see below) that shows the user names.  Don't you see this screen?

Maybe what you mean is that you ought to get the new passwords that your creation.

Windows XP has a built-in account named Administrator.  It should not be used on a regular basis and for this reason, whenever a user account is created, 'Administrator' is hidden in the home screen.

To access the administrator account, restart the computer.

  • As soon as the keyboard lights are flashing, start typing the F8 key.
  • If you do it right, you will see the screen "Advanced Boot Options", which is black with white space characters.
  • If you see the Windows Startup logo and access the Welcome screen, you waited too long to begin to tap F8.  Try again.
  • In the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the up/down arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press enter

Windows starts in Mode without failure.  The screen may look a little strange (usually too big), but when the Welcome screen appears, you should see an icon for the administrator.

Select administrator and sign.  By default, the password for this account is blank (no password).  If this does not work - because the former owner of the computer has changed - so I'm sorry, but Microsoft's policy does not tell you how to bypass or crack Windows passwords.  You do what you should have done initially: reinstall Windows by using the method of 'reset to factory conditions' of the manufacturer of the computer.

If you CAN connect using the administrator, then go to control panel > user accounts and passwords as you did it before the change.
