Using Hyperterminal

I have a test WAP that is new in the box. When I console in it goes through all the initial settings, including to enter an IP address. However it just stops and does not give me a prompt start. I can telnet and web on WAP but Hyperterminal is right there. Is there a key combination I'm missing?

Make sure that your parameters of connection in hyperterm has flow control to the coast.  If it's on in any mode, you will see the output of the PA, but it will not accept any keyboard input.

  • HyperTerminal for labview

I'm new to labview, and I need to do something with it that's why I need your help. I am using hyperterminal to control a laser. I can change the wavelength and swtich on and also I can read the wavelength using hyperterminal, but I use labview to make all these is - it possible and where I can start to do so. I mean I want to create power button open/close the laser and also controller to increase or decrease the wavelength. I know that codes of hyperterminal, am I'm going to use these codes when I write a new program of labveiw for this laser?

Are you sure you wrote the correct command?  Do you need to send a character ending with her as a carriage return or line break?

What the controls look like when you use them in Hyperterminal?

  • to access the data of hyperteminal using labview

    Hello Sir,

I'm a problem to access the data of hyperterminal directly through LabVIEW. Whenever I go to hyperterminal and the text capture option allows you to select data and save it in another file. My application requires automatic access of hyperterminal instead of manually do each and bread time. Is this possible? I enclose a VI that I tried. Please give me a suggestion about the present.

Do not use hyperterminal. Use the series of VISA. Look at the examples that come with LabVIEW.

  • receiving sms using labview

    Hello

You have an idea on how to receive SMS using labVIEW? I tried the AT commands using hyperterminal to receive the SMS, but I do not know how to continue on labVIEW to receive?

The concept is same with the sending of SMS in labVIEW?

    Thank you

    Hi MiBL,

If you could do this using AT commands, it is the same in LabVIEW so. Use the VISA, write the commands using the functions of writing to the modem and play the same thing using reading orders. You can even find examples for this if you search the forum properly.

    Kind regards

  • HyperTerminal can not open COM16 while Device Manager displays COM16. Process Explorer can not find COM16 or the other.

On my laptop in docking station, I used hyperterminal to display incoming data through COM16.

After departure, using stand-alone laptop computer and reconnect again, COM16 cannot open Hyperterminal again. Not even when the laptop is completely stopped and started again.

Device Manager displays COM16, but trial Explorer cannot find either.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the USB-RS232 port are detected by Device Manager.

  • Connection of agilent E3631A DC power supply to the computer via a RS 232 for labview

Im trying to access the computer via a cable RS 232 for sully power DC E3631A agilent use labview to operate the instrument. But the instrument is now detected by the computer and when I check instruments instruments connected tools-tool-find, told me no device not connected. I tried to use max by changing the configurations, but so far it doesn't work anymore. Please can someone tell me what to do

I don't know if MAX is the instruments of automatic detection on the serial port.  You can contact the instrument using Hyperterminal or something like that?  Also make sure you serial port settings are all correct (it is the most common reason).

  • VISA from read/write to serial port - unable to implements several orders of writing!

    Hello

I'm new to Labview and I'm reading from a pressure through a virtual serial port USB sensor. I am able to read the port when you use HyperTerminal

The code sequence that I should write to the port in order to obtain measurements using hyperterminal is the following:

' *' (2A hex)-online start and the responses of the port by asking 'Command', I should then enter

FF-online measurement select the port must ask the 'mode', so I should enter

0 has-online measurement of high resolution mode and it was then that I should start receiving action.

The port is always answer by errors when I write the start command or the FF one. I tried to establish a sequence stacked to write the three commands then read the port, I added some delay between the three of them, but it does not work.

Now I made really simple and removed the stacked sequence and just put the three commands one after the other and try to remedy not to not on the code.

I'm really stuck at this point, could someone help me please? I read a lot fo articles on the forum, but I can't solve this problem

    Thank you

I have attached my VI and the SCP1000 documentation (I can provide other versions of my demo if necessary)

The reason for your problem is a frequent misunderstanding even among experienced programmers. Take a look at this thread

    http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&thread.ID=417750

In your data sheet, then they return codes like 0xFF or 0x0A so has a single byte of average value. Then you in your-active code constant writing FF\n is so this equal to values in format hexadecimal 46460A and your instrument do not understand. But it will include FF0A. In order to solve your problem, you would type in \FF\n in your '-' chain helped codes. Remember too, if you type in \32 it will be converted to character 2 this being 0 x 32 50 decimals and code ASCII 50 is equal 2

Take the time and change the display format of string between '-' display and Hex display and you will see the difference

    Hope this helps

Sorry, I think that the limit error XON/XOFF wrong main to assume that you were actually using handshaking, but never, you indicated that you were. This problem that you mention actually open any port, regardless of whether you use XON/XOFF handshaking. The limit of 4096 seems to be imposed by the driver, so it is not something that can be changed in the CVI code layer. However, we can impose a maximum of 4096 for XON/XOFF limits, that we spend in the Windows SDK, so that the error can be avoided when you are booking a superior to 40960 input buffer.

We will do both the fixes mentioned in this thread in the next version.

  • SMU-8431/8 RS-422 serial card sends the wrong number of bits

I use a card series SMU-8431/8 RS-422 configuration for talking to a camera that has the speed of transmission parameters following 38400, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, odd parity. I confirmed that the device certainly has these settings I can communicate with him using a separate Linux PC.

When I try to use the serial port of EITHER the device does not react. Then, I connected the serial port OR on my Linux PC to see which sent the port NO. It is garbage. Nonprinting characters, control commands and the other characters are converted (for example I send the ascii character '1' and get the ascii character 'a').

I made sure to add the terminating resistor 120 ohm NI RX + RX-lines and as mentioned in other posts on these forums, but it is only for the reception and did not solve the problem.

I put a scope on the TX + and TX-lines from the map OR track seems reasonable that sent bits is correctly 38400 and voltage levels are correct moving between +/-3V. What I've noticed, is that the map series, NEITHER seems to be send to the 11 data bits. I expect 10-bit (1 start bit, 7 data, 1 parity, and 1 stop). I changed to 8 and then 6 bits of data and the total number sent passes to 12, then 10, respectively.

I get the same behavior if I use Labview screws, Panel VISA for the port of MAX, or to remove the software NOR entirely and use Hyperterminal. This would seem to indicate that the problem is something in the settings of low level on the card itself.

I tried a second SMU-8431/8 card and the same results, this isn't a fault map (may be two defective cards, I guess!).

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ian

Discovered it was: used a scope to view the track both the Linux PC and the serial port OR to compare. The trace OR was significantly longer than the Linux. When I measured the width of the track OR whole, it worked to have a frequency of about 33 000, or much less that the 38400 assigned him. I was getting the wrong characters every bit of data from the port because NEITHER was out of sync with the Linux PC.

I increased the port baud rate NOR and found that setting in 45 000 made it align correctly the Linux PC and I now the communication between the two devices.

For the record, I don't have the terminating resistor 120 ohm or the anchor line to be included in the cable series between ports OR and Linux.

  • the buffer copied into the buffer entry with Rs232

    Hello

I have a problem with serial port and do not know what to think

I send commands to a device (hmp231) and when I read the message on the entry stamp I retrieve the command

only one thing that I've ever met, it would be a coding error? everybody respected this disorder?

I thought that it could be specific to the device, but when you use hyperterminal just retrieve the response with the command...

    Concerning

    Tinnitus

Your instrument has an echo, but then it should also be the case in hyperterminal or you have set the hyperterminal do echo off the coast.

Or fill you the buffer via a shiftregister yourself. Please send the vi that you use to check this.

  • Serial RS232 between existing Instrument and reading software provider

Hello.  I have an instrument with software supplier for the acquisition of data from the instrument to a PC through serial RS-232 communication.  I would like to acquire data in LabVIEW instead of via the provider software.  The seller has given virtually no support to help me find a way to communicate with the instrument - they offer only their software as the only solution.

I'm trying to find a way that I can transfer data with provider software and basically understand the format of the communications and the commands that are required to send to the device.  Two things that seem like possibilities are:

    (1) use a type of "spyware" or "monitor" for serial ports to capture and display the communications that occur between the instrument and the PC/software.

    (2) connect the COM1 port, from my PC (by which the software provider would communicate) to COM1 port on my computer and the insrument for a 3rd COM port on my computure.  Use hyperterminal or LabVIEW to read it as the instrument and software try to pass each other by reading iteratively to a port and then in writing as to the other port.

No one has tried this before?  Any suggestions on who could work or work better/easier, or any other ideas?  I don't even know the port required parameters (baud, etc.), so I need to guess at those if I tried option (2), above.  I've never used any software serial port "monitor" before, so I don't really know what to use or else it might work for option (1).

    Thank you.

Have you checked the serial port settings? The type of errors you see is common when different port settings, i.e. one side is on the 9600 and the other 4800.
