Using SNMP Configuration

Hi im trying to configure my esx to send my OPManager Server snmp monitoring

I have change the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file, and here's how it looks

sysContact root@localhost (snmpd.conf edit)

sysLocation room1 (edit snmpd.conf)

secret rocommunity 192.168.10.100

secret trapcommunity

trapsink 192.168.10.10

  1. VMware MIB modules. To toggle the elements of VMware MIB

  1. Add/Remove the following entries.

DLMod SNMPESX /usr/lib/vmware/snmp/libSNMPESX.so

I opened the firewall inbound connection int the vmware infrastructure client (Server SNMP 161UDP)

Its always failed when im trying to test the credentiel in the opmanager software

What version of snmp use esx?     1-2-3?

Thank you for helping

'trapsink' is the target of trap. The host where the SNMP interruptions should be send to. You can only use the IP address or add the trapcommunity. Your syntax is correct.

Restart the "snmpd" so he reread the snmpd.conf file: "/etc/init.d/snmpd restart."

  • Question about KB 2033173 - SNMP configuration

Hi guys, I have a question about KB 2033173. It is said

below is an example of the host SNMP Configuration profile:

    Port 161

    Community

    Community 10.0.0.1@0 receiver

    [...]

Please note that the recipient's address contains a space, not a "/" as input to the command line.

I wonder why the "10.0.0.1@0"? I think it should be "10.0.0.1@161" because the port number is 161. Thank you.

Yes, you are correct and also keep in mind that there is a lot of difference with the SNMP agent without traps (use the port UDP/161) and SNMP agent with traps (use port UDP/162).

  • SNMP Configurations require vCenter?

I am running vCenter on top a pair of cluster 2 ESXi hosts 4.1.0u3.  I have configured the Protocol SNMP configurations is vCenter to point to our appropriate receiver.

A few questions come to mind with this, can someone enlighten me please!

Although the SNMP configuration is applied in the vCenter settings, they need to be configured on each host ESXi?  If so, how it works?

On a separate scenario (has nothing to do with the above), I have 2 ESXi hosts running ESXi 4.1.0u3 - but they are not in a cluster and do NOT contain a vCenter Server.

How can I go about configuring SNMP for each of these individual ESXi hosts?

    Hello, Kristian,.

AC2 negates the need to have a configuration of account iTunes\AppleID on each device, can I ask why you wanted to do this, there may be a better way? ipads how are you trying to install? ipad users can add their own iTunes account to download other additional applications then deployed via the configurator.

  • What device drivers OR are required to use the configurator with CompactRIO Profibus Master-Slave device?

I'm trying to deploy the software driver for a portable production that will allow technicians to download configurations of profibus for CompactRIO profibus DP master-slave cards.  I know I need support VISA and MAX in order to communicate with the device when it is in Slot 1.

I have a Windows XP computer I've used in the past for this and a 7 32-bit Windows development machine that can do as well.  I guess I would need OR-Rio installed and more MAX and VISA, but I run in RIO the right software to install on this machine.  Until I dig a hole more far than necessary can someone point me in the right direction of what is needed to install?

My development platform is LabVIEW 2010 with SP1.  The development and the production laptop computer work all the two 32-bit Windows 7.  The development machine has the following (and other) software:

LabVIEW 2010 (RT, FPGA modules) SP1

    MAX 5.3.3

    NI-VISA 5.2

    NOR-RIO 3.6

We use Comsoft Configurator II 1.2.37

    All reviews are much appreciated!

    Matt,

I understand the suggestion about Profibus shake appeal reviewer, but I never mentioned the module Profibus - only the NI Compact RIO driver software.

    Ryan,

I checked that the key and it is present and correct.  Later during some additional tests, I'm done with several other installers throw similar messages.  I've seen CVIRTEDIR and MAXAFWDIR as well.

I thought at this stage there was another really obscure registry entry who standing things upwards, so I tried to install it (s) even on another unit of the same configuration management.  Installed LabVIEW Runtime Engine 2010 SP1f5, NI-VISA 5.2 (included OR MAX 5.3) and NOR-RIO 3.6.1 and everything works well for use with Configurator II Version 1.2 (September 2011 version 1.09 interface Comsoft TCP sockets, includes LabVIEW 8.6 run time engine).

In the past I could have resorted to the use of MSI-Blast to clean all the related registry NOR entered, but I couldn't get my hands on a copy and uninstall NOR has not removed the remains (it seems).

This morning, I got my response from HP.  Here's what I learned.

For access to archive printer MIB:

    1. go to http://h20147.www2.hp.com/sppmain/

    2. click on the link Public of Software Development Kits (SDK)

    3. Select Laserjet and Digital Sender of the Kit Area drop-down box

    4. navigate to LaserJet and Digital Sender > management of printers > printer specific MIB

    5. sort the list of Legacy printers, then select the appropriate model

    6. wait for the browser to refresh, and then click the download button

    7. save the file on your machine and review

I tried saving and opening a without extension, seems that it is just a text file.  It looks like some are .zip.  Some are registered as .mib trying to open it in a CMD window on my machine.  None of the files I was looking at was a text for SNMP OID objects.  Perhaps you need to translate the information into an OID somehow.

Take a look and let me know if you can make progress more or not.  Its been fun to discover all that we have learned so far.

  • Using SNMP to monitor Cisco Nexus 5000

    Hello

I would like to know what specific OID to use to monitor the following using SNMP on a Nexus 5000:

    -L' total CPU usage

    -Power supply status

    -Status of Fan chassis

The Nexus is quite different from other devices Cisco - any help will be appreciated!

CPU: oid to use is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.1 (cseSysCPUUtilization) is a part of the MIB:

    CISCO-SYSTEM-EXT-MIB

It displays the value as a percentage of the processor.

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.5.1.1.1.21602 = INTEGER : 2

    You can read in:

    FTP://FTP.Cisco.com/pub/MIBs/v1/Cisco-entity-FRU-control-MIB-V1SMI.my

that means values integer by OID.

Take for example (look at the file

    ( ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB.oid)

cefcFRUPowerOperStatus: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2 for one of the

    index:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2.22 = INTEGER : 2

We now need to find 22-year-old:

    SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.47.1.1.1.1.7.22 = STRING : « 20 port 10GE SFP + / superviseur

    in the Module fixed-1"

That means now the INTEGER 2 from:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2.22 = INTEGER : 2

    Lets look at: CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB-V1SMI.my, section

cefcFRUPowerOperStatus, if you are looking for in this file you will find: we (2),

That measn this controller is actually turned on and powered.

  • How to create a static ARP using SNMP?

    Hello

I want to create a static ARP using SNMP.

I can delete an ARP by setting oid ' 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.4' to '2'.

    But none of

    '1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.1 '.

    '1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.2 '.

    '1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.3 '.

    '1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.4 '.

    can be modified or created

    SNMP-server community is RW

I can change the other oid, for example 'type sysName' oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0

I used this command to create a new ARP:

    set SNMP v2 192.168.10.1 private oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.1 integer 1

    the answer:

SNMP response: reqid 16, errstat 11, erridx 1

    ipNetToMediaEntry.1 = 1

    errstat 11 is NOCREATION

And I used the tool "Mib Browser" to set a static ARP.

    the answer is NOCREATION too.

I searched a lot of time, a lot of people have this problem,

someone said the oid ipNetToPhysicalPhysAddress or inetCidrRouteTable is alternative,

but our switch do not have these oids.

    I can't find a solution.

I want to know if the task can be performed.

    Help, please.

    Concerning

    Dear Fu

Thank you to reach small business support community.

I'm not positive, that this can be done on small business goes, however, what is your version of the model and the firmware of the switch so I can continue the investigation.

I'll be looking forward to your reply.

    Kind regards

  • How can I create a new database without table using database configuration

How can I create a new database without table using database configuration

You can search for your "DBA 2 days" version oracle documentation for your version.  You should also read the manual of the concepts.  Create your own schema is pretty basic, all you have to do is to create a user.  Don't use dba or system for your own objects.

  • 5548, 7048 - PowerConnect backup SNMP configuration

    Hello

I Powerconnect 5548 and 7480 switches and I would like to know if it is possible to backup with TFTP and SNMP commands configuration files, like I do with my cisco switches?

    Thank you.

You should be able to use rlcopy which is OID.1.3.6.1.4.1.89.87

    Location of the source Rlcopy.1.3.6.1.4.1.89.87.2.1.3

Rlcopy the ip address of destination.1.3.6.1.4.1.89.87.2.1.9

Updates of the firmware also contain the mib files, so you can find the OID http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=JRCF6&fileId=3365034200&osCode=NAA&productCode=powerconnect-5524&languageCode=EN&categoryId=NI

  • SNMP configuration

    Hi all

We have Esxi 5.1 environment in our Organization, we must activate SNMP on all hosts. I have all the information of the SNMP protocol as, rope, add IP and port.

But I don't know how to activate the SNMP on the host.

Need help on setting up SNMP on the host, as I do for the first time

    Thank you all.

You can check the status of snmp using 'esxcli system snmp get. "

To activate snmp use the following command:

"esxcli system snmp set e true.

Other parameters can be configured with the following options:

    / var/log # esxcli system snmp set - help

Use: esxcli system snmp set [command options]

    Description:

together, that this command allows the user to configure the SNMP ESX agent.

    Cmd options:

    -a |-authentication =

Default authentication protocol. Values: none, MD5, SHA1

    -c. | -communities =.

Define up to ten communities every step more than 64 characters. The format is: Community1 [, communaute2,...] (This replaces previous)

    settings)

e |-allow to start or stop the SNMP service. Values: [Yes | No, true | false, 0 | 1]

E |-engineid = id of motor Set. SNMPv3 must be at least 5 to 32 characters hexadecimal. x 0 is stripped if found and the colon (:))

y |-hwsrc = where of events material source of IPMI or Indications CIM sensors. An a: directions | sensors

l |-loglevel = the Agent System syslog logging level: debug | info | WARNING | error

n |-notraps = use separate comma: esxcli system snmp set [command options]

Please let me know if it helps.

  • Script to join the domain, the role of configuration, add permissions and activate/SNMP configuration

So I'm writing a script to install our vSphere hosts to work with our monitoring software.  Right now, it's all done by hand and I would like if possible to automate it.  So far, I came up with this.  I get to step 5 and that's where it fails.  I can get it manually run the Get-VIAccount command, but in the script, it fails.

    These are my steps

    1. connect to an existing host and retrieve role properties.

    2. connect to the new host

    3 join the domain.

    4. disconnect the new host and reconnect with the credentials of domain

    5. get the domain account, role of research/create and add permissions to host

    6. enable and configure SNMP

    7 restart MGMT officers.
