Using the "System recovery" Recovery Manager, it will erase the partitions?

Hello, I was counting on the creation of a second partition for windows 7.

What I want is two partitions one with windows 7 and one with vista. This is the easiest part.

Now, I was planning on moving over my larger files, which is a lot of music and a lot of digital photos on the windows partition 7. Then, I wanted to clean install vista using the system recovery feature built into the computer. Now, I see it says restore my computer to default settings, but it's a little vague.

So my question is, even with 2 separate partitions would be a system recovery remove them both and combine them into 1, just like when I got to my computer? Or would it restore my vista partition just like it was when I got it? I've really messed with the recovery of the system too, so I don't know if there is an option to select a partition, or something, I don't want to go overboard and remove my pictures and music.

And there are a lot of things, like 50 + GB combined, it would take a lot of time to save it online, but if that's what needs to be done, so be it.

Thank you!

Also the laptop I use is a Hp pavilion Dv2500 with just vista on it right now.

Hello

The answer is no. The Recovery Manager has his job to do once tell you her to begin.

The HP Recovery Manager will do its thing and restore your laptop provided that delivery. It is a destructive process in terms of all the space on your hard drive, except for the recovery partition. You will find yourself with a Vista partition (C and a recovery partition (D when it is done.))

This means that when the recovery is complete and you have all the drivers loaded, you can use the Vista Disk Manager to create your partition in Win 7.

I hope that this makes it more clear.

Kind regards

ERICO

  • How to use the partition instead of group by?

    Hello

I'm unable to use the partition by clause in the following cases,

the column with null values other_number contains 10 records in 'une_table '.
    5 records where the date 01/11/2009, item_code = 1
    5 records where the date 01/10/2009, item_code = 2

This query returns all of the records of 10, (which assume back 2)
    SELECT count (a.anumber) on (partition TO_char(a.some_date,'MM'), a.item_code) AS i_count, a.item_code,.
    TO_char (a.some_date, 'MM')
    Of une_table
    WHERE to_char (a.some_date, 'yyyy') = 2009
    AND a.other_number IS NULL

Works great if I wrote like this,
    SELECT count (a.anumber) AS i_count, a.item_code,.
    TO_char (a.some_date, 'MM')
    Of une_table
    WHERE to_char (a.some_date, 'yyyy') = 2009
    AND a.other_number IS NULL
    TO_char(a.some_date,'MM') group, a.item_code

How to use partition of in this case?

    Hello

Almost all of the aggregate functions (the ones you use in a GROUP BY query) have analytical equivalents.
You seem to have already discovered that, regardless of the values returned by
a comprehensive funcition using ' GROUP BY x, y, z "can also be found
an analytical function by using "PARTITION BY x, y, z".

Aggregate queries to collapse the result set.
    The COUNT aggregate function:

    SELECT deptno
    , COUNT (*) AS cnt
    FROM scott.emp
    GROUP BY deptno
    ;

indicates how many 14 employees are in each of 3 departments.
The fact the analytical COUNT function:

    SELECT deptno
, COUNT (*) OVER (PARTITION BY deptno) AS cnt
    FROM scott.emp
    ;

but the first query produces 3 production lines, the second query produced 14.
You could get 3 rows of output using the analytical function and SELECT SEPARATE , but it is inefficient.

Which should you use? As with many other things, the answer depends on what data you have and what results you want from this data.
If you want has collapsed of results (one line per group), it is an indication of striong you'll want features global, not analytical.
If you want a row of output for each row in the table, it is a strong indication that you'll want to analytical functions.

If you have a specific question, ask. Post some sample data and the results desired from this data, as Rob has said.

There is another important difference between the aggreate and analytical functions: analytic functions can easily be restricted to a window , or a subset DataSet. It's something like a WHERE clause and a WHERE clause applies to the entire request: a condition of wondowing applies only to a single line.
If you need calculate a SUM of lines with a previous of this line order_date , or an average of last 5 lines, then proabably you want to use the analytical function.

  • 15 - af156sa (energy star): 15-af156sa (ENERGY STAR) will not start correctly or start System Recovery Manager

Recently my hardrive has failed on my computer hp laptop, I return it to the store still under warranty and they send to repair by how.

I return the laptop yesterday and some paperwork saying the hardrive was replaced, the laptop already worked when it arrived and I had right to use it for about an hour before it crashed (windows screen 10 to meet a problem and the device need to reboot)

When the unit restarted, he was blocked indefinitely on the hp loading screen (nothing other than the hp logo and the white rotating circle) and so I turned it off after a certain time, removed the battery and held the power button to drain everything left power and tried again.  This time, I got the hp logo and the text of 'attempt to auto repair' but after 10 seconds or so, it goes to a black screen and nothing happens.

I decided to try to restore the factory settings, I turn on the unit then turn it back you press f11 to start Recovery Manager, the text appears in the lower left corner to say that the unit had registered that I was pressing the button but then the screen goes black and nothing happens again. I started then in the BIOS menu and reset all settings by default and tried once more, but nothing happened once more.

a last attempt and I decided to perform a test of the extensive system, the device failed in the short DST test of hard disk with ID UC097X-83D89R-XD7WLK-60R003 failure

IM really hoping there is a simple solution and that I don't need a new another hardrive or possibly a new laptop.

Any help would be much appreciated

I would take it back to the people who have tried to fix it. The error message means that you have a bad hard drive. I wonder if they actually replaced your old.

  • W520 - using the partition recovery without a bootable operating system installed

I have a W520 with a hard drive that has been completely wiped out the Q/recovery partition.

Is there a workflow for using the recovery partition to rebuild the factory Windows 7 install?

    1. Enter ImageX from Microsoft (somewhere).
    2. get a USB bootable with Windows 7 installation
    3. Prime the USB key and enter repair tools (command prompt)
    4. navigate to the recovery partition, file FactoryRecovery.
5 Note the size of the sdrivebackup.wim
    6. use DISKPART to create a partition of at least that size. Make sure that it is the first, it is active and defined at startup.
    7. use ImageX to apply sdrivebackup.wim to this partition.

The command should be: ImageX/apply [recoverypartition]:\FactoryRecovery\sdrivebackup.wim [newpartition]:------]
8 can use DISKPART to create a partition of Windows 7 Fluxsol (probably all the remaining space).
    9. again, use ImageX to apply cdrivebackup.swm to the newly created partition of Windows 7.

The command should be: ImageX/apply [recoverypartition]:\FactoryRecovery\cdrivebackup.swm [newwindowspartition]:------]

Ideally this should operate. If it doesn't, try a reboot system Windows Installer USB tool to solve any problem of bootloader.

So I installed Windows 8 but has been forced to delete all partitions, then I installed Linux Mint 14 Nadia, now I'm back to Windows 8 and I want to get Windows 7 Home Premium back or Windows 7 Professional (law of demotion of Microsoft)

And I can not download the software that HP provides when you first set up your computer, but now I have no HP Recovery Manager or Assistant, so I need to reinstall all the programs and go back to Windows 7 Home Premium. But I don't want to spend money on it like spending $15 on 2 stupid recovery disks, what a scam! OK can someone help ASAP as Im on Windows 8 Professional

If you do not burn your recovery using HP Recovery Manager disks before you delete all partitions there is no way to download the files now. You place your order of recovery disks is the best option.

If you can read the Microsoft Windows 7 of 25-character license key attached to the bottom of your laptop, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD. It must be the same version that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker. Windows 7 Home Premium

  • Pavilion G6-2213 nr: cannot start using HP system recovery disks

    Hi all

I have a laptop of Pavilion G6 2213 nr and I had problems and ran diagnostics from the system on it and he failed the hard drive of the short dst test, so I ordered HP recovery discs and a new hard drive on ebay. I have put in the new drive hard, pop in the first recovery disc in the drive, and when I try to boot from the cdrom drive, it says 'press any key to boot from the CD or DVD... ». After pressing a button, it goes on the page 'selected boot image could not authenticate. So I searched online and found in this case, I should turn on legacy mode and turn off secureboot. So I make this change in the bios and go out with gain and he enter a four digit code + enter to make the change in legacy mode. After you have entered the code, the computer restarts and wonder at new "press any key to boot from the CD or DVD...". ». I press a key, and then it takes me to a page in black/white with only a blinking cursor and never does anything else. With the new drive hard in, I ran the memory and the hard drive a broad diagnosis and pass the two tests.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What is the DVD player? Or sata controller (not that I really know what that means, I just read in a post somewhere in a case similar to what is probably the DVD drive or a SATA controller).

    Any help is appreciated!

    KyleDWilly wrote:

    I'll try that. Thank you.

    You are quite welcome.

You will need to have a hard drive replacement, which is at least 160 GB of capacity!

A 120 GB hard drive (or SSD) will not work with the Recovery Manager.

The usb recovery media is the image recovery factory in about an hour and it is a sustainable product. If there is a scratch on the side of the label of a recovery disk, the entire set of recovery disks becomes unusable.

A factory image recovery with recovery disks can take two hours or longer time to complete.

  • Compaq 6000: No System Recovery Manager, saying microsoft 'product preinstalled' therefore give not ISO

    Hi all

I bought a HP a while ago and have a new purpose for her, the machine itself got slow recently, and rather than try to fix the cause, I just wanted to wipe the OS and start over.

I went to microsoft and gave my license key but they said that the product has come pre-installed on the system, and as such I should look at the manufacturer's recovery options

When I went looking online options that I pointed to the Manager of recovery that HP provides, but which is not installed on my operating system. Then I went to HP to download the Recovery Manager, but he is not listed as software under my combination of operating system and the product.

So what are my options, windows is doesn't give me not the ISO to reformat my drive HARD and HP doesn't have the required software to format either!

I can get the windows 7 ISO easy, but I would be very worried that I could delete the OS and then my valid product key could be rejected because it's for pre-installed software.
If someone could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated

You can use any disk installation and apply the key located on the COA of the PC sticker (not the one that you see in the properties of the computer that has "OEM" in the middle). But you must have the same distribution - e.g. Home Premium 64-bit. The key to this would not work on a Home Premium 32 bit or 64 bit professional.

  • DML using the partition.

    Hello

    10.2.0.1.0 Oracle

Is it possible to have quickly DML operation using partitions. as the update, insert, delete.

    as we do in select * partition of course (2001_pg_courses);

    kindly help.

You don't need to explicitly select a partition.

A partition table has 'rules' about what data go where. For example, a range may partition table have a 'rule' for a partition by day - all the lines for a day (according to table column invoice_date for example), is in a single partition. Similarly, a partitioned table list will also have a "rule", stating that the lines go in which partition.

You can explicitly reference the score via a SQL statement as follows to find all invoices for a customer:

    select * from invoices partition (day_20110101) where customer_id = :1;

This SQL is however not very shareable under the partition name is hardcoded. If you want to find the Bills for another day, a new brand SQL statement is necessary with hardcoded score of the day in the SQL.

Also consider what it does to the application. User PL/SQL code can no longer use the SQL statement as is - like it needs a new SQL statement to use depending on the day. So dynamic SQL must be used - an approach complex and often creates a security risk because of risk of SQL injection.

Or you can implicitly reference the partition using this 'rule' as part of the predicate. For example

    select * from invoices where invoice_date = :0 and customer_id = :1;

The CBO will see invoice_date is used and he will know that it is used as the "rule of the partition. The CBO can now decide which or the partitions to use.

The SQL that is created is shareable. We will use the same SQL in the shared pool of Oracle over and over again for customers and different days - we are not a completely new SQL for a day of different invoice.

The PL/SQL user can now use the SQL like it - no need to use SQL dynamically and inserting the name of partition in SQL. No threat of SQL injection.

Best of all - the PL/SQL Developer didn't need to worry how partition works, how it is applied, that partition names and so on. Standard SQL is used - as it would have been the case if the invoice table is not partitioned, or a cluster or an index organized table or anything else. The CBO has the intelligence to translate SQL into an optimal execution plan that is the most appropriate for the physical implementation table, available indexes and so on.

The developer must only be concerned about the logic of its SQL statement - and not by the complexity of the physical implementation of the database.

Welcome to the forums.  Firstly (and this is just my personal opinion) you can actually have a bit more large partition for the operating system.  Just to receive the updates and service packs and other.

This article will show you how to change the default location of My Documents.  Also when you install programs then ensure you that you change the default installation directory, it will try to go on the C: drive.
