Using USB recovery Vista on a laptop different

I bought 2 identical laptops HP dv7 - 1273cl Vista 64-bit Yes or 4 years and never created the recovery disc. One of the disks of the laptop is corrupted; It is so bad, that it does not recognize the disc. My question: can I create a good recovery on the laptop USB drive and then use it to recover the laptop bad? I bought a new drive. If not, it could be proposed.

Thank you

Steve

Hello

As long as all the material and the version of Vista (i.e. Home premium, professional, etc.) are identical, the recovery media created on one of the machines should work on the other - a point to note is that the replacement of HARD drive should be of the same capacity (or slightly larger) as the original drive. smaller, can cause problems with the recovery process.

Kind regards

    Hello

Thanks for joining us on the Microsoft Community.

According the description of the problem, it seems that you have trouble understanding what license key to use for Windows Vista COA (certificate of authenticity).

The license key which is present under the laptop is specific to the version of Windows came with your laptop that is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit operating system.

I recommend you to use the key license or product key present on the Windows Vista Home Premium DVD for Windows Activation.

  • Can I use my recovery Vista disc to replace windows 7

One of my friends put windows 7 on my computer dell laptop, I want back my old vista, can I use the CD provided with the laptop to restore it to factory settings.

My lap is a dell inspiron 1525

Yes, a factory restore will format the disk and restore default programs.  You can also double check dell.com for any new information pertaining to the factory restore for your computer and new updates to install after the restoration.

However, my suggestion is to make sure you move all your personal files and boxes from the drive before a factory restore, that is if you want to save them by e-mail.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 cannot use USB 2.0

    Hello

Have you seen yellow errors such as exclamation points in Device Manager?
If not, in this case it of not necessary to install all the drivers.
Moreover, the operating system automatically recognizes the USB ports.

But what USB device doesn't work? As far as I know if this external device needs more energy than the 500mA so it is possible that the operating system can not recognize this device.
In this case you need an external power supply for this part or you try to use the USB hub.

  • How to reinstall Vista (using the HP recovery disk) to my laptop HP that has a new hard drive

The hard drive failed on my HP laptop.  I bought a new hard drive (not HP) and loaded the HP recovery disks, but a screen will appear that says it is not compatible.  Can I use this new hard drive, or should I buy a hard drive for HP?

I looked at a few tech forums and from what I can tell, HP crashes their system you can't use hard disks of third parties.  To make a third hard drive to work (depending on the online forums), you will need to bring a technician certified in HP in order to run a utility of DMI (?) and "tattoo" the hard drive for HP use (estimated at close to $45).
I can't find a technician certified in HP in my area and Geek Squad said that they can do it more... my laptop is now an expensive paper weight, or there at - it another option (short of spending hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new Vista + MS Office license)?

    Hello

posters have reported problems with the use of a replacement hard drive not HP, etc.

  • Satellite Pro A200: How to create Dual boot; Vista & XP using the recovery CD

I just bought a laptop Satellite Pro A200, which was supplied with the product for Vista and XP Recovery discs.
The license specifically Vista also XP licenses.
Can I set up a dual boot so that I can boot to Vista or XP? If so, how?

I would also like a third boot, Red Hat Linux 9.
    Any comments?

Hmmm. Usually it s possible to use two or more operating systems on the computer, but as far as I know the Toshiba Vista recovery CD formats whole disk when installing Vista and this will lead to the loss of the OS installed.
I m not 100% sure on the recovery of the newest XP CD called RECON doesn t CD include an expert mode which allows to choose between the different partitions.

So I guess that each use the recovery CD will format the HARD drive and erase the installed data. But of course, you can try to install the two BONES and to check if the restore XP CD allows to choose the second part of the installation of the OS.

If it does not, it seems that you will need to an original XP from Microsoft CD or the original CD of Vista to use the two BONES.

    Best regards

  • HP 15 F018dx: Using a HP USB recovery on other models

If I order a recovery usb Windows 8.1 HP for a specific model laptop... is it possible to also use this USB recovery for an additional HP laptop computer that is the same model or a model different recent HP that originally came with Windows 8.1? Thank you.

    Hello:

If you order a usb for Windows 8.1 HP for laptop model specific recovery, it will work on another of the same model.

It will not work on any other HP PC.

The recovery media checks the BIOS and other unique identifiers, and if they do not gather, and then exit the Setup.

He'll even specific enough... as to my own situation... I replaced the Broadcom wireless card in my G1 of 350 HP with an Intel card (which is not available on the 350 G1), and the recovery process is gone until the end, then he erroneous reports that there is no driver found for the wireless card, recovery failed.

I assumed he would recover the laptop, and I could just install the Intel wireless driver.  No dice.

  • Can I use the Windows Vista I had with my Toshiba laptop on virtual machine?

    Hey all

I have changed Microsoft for Macintosh, but installed on a virtual machine (oracle vm virtual machine) my Windows Vista I got with my Toshiba Satellite A350D Notebook previous. I installed Vista with the recovery disk. Now he asks me the Windows Vista product key. The sticker on the back of my laptop is more readable. I run the Belarc Advisor to get the product key in this way. But right now, he said: "it's the product key installed at the factory by the manufacturer rather than yours. You can change this to your product key here for Windows http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=45668"

My question: am I not allowed to use windows vista legally, I had with my computer toshiba laptop on other devices? I won't use the Thoshiba laptop. Do I have to delete the record from the Thoshiba laptop? Where can I get a new product key?

Maybe someone can help me here. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read this.

    Betty

Recovery disk or recovery image is designed for some cell phone only and is not a kind of universal image that can be used on other devices. It comes with the laptop.

You can use the Microsoft Windows disk with valid license on each device. Recovery image is not only BONES. This is the package that contains the drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.
As you also know recovery image when you install it on your laptop must be turned on not so the license code downstairs just proves you have purchased a valid license with your laptop.
    > Should I remove the record of the Toshiba laptop?
    Not why do this?
    > Where can I get a new product key?
You cannot get it because you need when you use the recovery image on your Satellite A300D. I think even you will hear of Toshiba.

  • Re: vista product key needed (new drive HARD - used product recovery cd)

I had to put a new hard drive in my laptop, after the failure of the original one.
I then reinstalled Vista using the recovery CD of product supplied with the laptop (not the recovery CD I did as it didn't work!)

Vista is now asking me to provide a product key that is incorrect.
I tried the button on the bottom of the laptop, but it does not work.

    I what to do?

    > . I tried the button on the bottom of the laptop, but it does not work

The Windows product key on the underside of your laptop is an OEM license key. This means that t can be used with other versions of Windows.

    > What to do?

Buy Windows key or order a recovery disc if they are available:

  • Failed to retrieve the Satellite Pro L300 laptop using Toshiba Recovery Disk

I have a Satellite Pro L300 Vista I'm trying recover using the recovery disk Toshiba official that the machine is not able to retrieve from the hard drive.

The process gets as much as to start recovery utility and asking to select the language in the utility recovery which I emphasize English and then select next; It moves on the next screen, which is empty and then it just hangs.

    Any suggestions?

You bought your laptop with the Vista version English?
What language is marked before selecting English?

  • Satellite A300: Vista 64 bits after the new installation by using the recovery disk

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 A300 / M00 and when I got it, it had Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. But after awhile, I started to have problems so I decided to reinstall Vista on my laptop. After crossing with the product recovery media, my system become so 64-bit.

Was not my system suppose to have 32-bit when it was originally with her?
If no, then how can I install 32 bit once more on my laptop like 64-bit gives me problems with the installation of some of my programs.

If I need to buy a copy of Vista 32 Bit, where can I find the drivers for my system, because the product recovery media has all the drivers on this subject.

    Thank you for your time.

Hmm. Your ad is a little confusing.

Why would you say that Toshiba Recovery disk contains a version of Vista 64-bit?
    How did you check that?
From my experience, the Toshiba recovery disc still contains the preinstalled operating system.

Also as much as I know the new notebook from Toshiba are not delivered with the recovery disk, but with a HARD drive recovery option.
This option allows you to reinstall the OS from the second partition of HARD drive recovery.
Alternatively, you can use the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator software to create the own recovery DVDs! And this recovery disk contains the same preinstalled OS!
