UTL_FILE read the error ORA-29284

Hello

I use utl_file.get_line procedure to read. For small files, it works well.

But I have a file about 3 MB, which I'm reading with utl_file.get_line. After reading about 1 MB, I get error ORA-29284.
Is there a limit for this? Is there a solution?

Database or platform does not matter, I tried this in some versions of the different database and platforms. All I'm asking is if there is a restiriction on the use of this because the error makes no sense since I get the error after reading half of the file. It is probably related to the size of the file. I also checked metalink and I couldn't find a solution.

It would have been nice and very useful for the troubleshooting process, you mention that you have been able to reproduce the problem (list platforms) and (versions list DB). That sample code together woth, would allow those of us who are interested to determine if wee may be worth it to reproduce.

That being said - it's always on the same file? You may have a problem of linesize and may need to change your http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/AppDev.102/b14258/u_file.htm#BABGGEDF maximum linesize

  • has received the error ORA-44416: invalid ACL, while trying to enable network services

Hi guys I got the ERROR ORA-44416 after the activation of services network in 11 GR 2 to send emails, so I ran this command found just as shown below in the Oracle document library

    SELECT THE ACL, PRINCIPAL

    OF NACL, XDS_ACE ACE DBA_NETWORK_ACLS

WHERE HOST = ' *' AND LOWER_PORT IS NULL AND UPPER_PORT IS NULL AND

NACL. ACLID = ACE. ACLID AND

    ARE NOT (SELECT NULL FROM ALL_USERS WHERE USERNAME = MAIN);

    That returned a result of

    no selected line

    What could this mean

The installation is done on a localhost and the APEX version is 4.2.2 browser is mozilla fire fox

ORA-44416 means that the ACL that you tried to create to refer to a valid principle - that is, the user does not exist.

The SQL code that you included above seems to be looking for associated ACL principles which are more database users. I don't see a direct link between this request and the ORA-44416.

What was your original script of ACL?

Also, because it is a question of database rather APEX you might get a better answer on the forums of the database.

ORA-00001 means table a unique/primary key / index and you attempt to insert a row with the key value already exists in the table. I'll assume table has a primary key on COUNTRY_ID. Then modify SQL for:

    SQL = "INSERT INTO COUNTRIES (COUNTRY_ID, COUNTRY_NAME, REGION_ID) SELECT"BZ","BLZ", 3 DOUBLE WHERE DOES NOT EXIST (SELECT 1 FROM COUNTRIES WHERE COUNTRY_ID ="BZ").

There is a good chance COUNTRY table also has unique key/index on COUNTRY_NAME. If so use:

    SQL = "INSERT INTO COUNTRIES (COUNTRY_ID, COUNTRY_NAME, REGION_ID) SELECT"BZ","BLZ", 3 DOUBLE WHERE DOES NOT EXIST (SELECT 1 FROM COUNTRIES WHERE COUNTRY_ID = 'BZ' OR 'BLZ' = COUNTRY_NAME).

  • Any suggestions on the elimination of the error ORA-01417?

Just a question here. I'm developing a workbook in Discoverer Plus. I get a message ORA-01417 - a table can be external joined as another table. Just trying to see if there is a way to eliminate this error message. What I do is the following. I join table PA_EXPENDITURE_ITEMS_ALL to PA_EXPENDITURES_ALL. It is a standard join. Detail exists in master. Then I join PA_EXPENDITURES_ALL to PER_ALL_EMPLOYEES_F. Since I have a lot of spending on projects that aren't payroll/labor partner, my id of the person spending all the table is often null. This particular join must be an outer join, where I want to go back the detail that corresponds to a master document and detail that does not match. So far, nothing unusual there. The problem is that an employee may have multiple records in the employee file. Which would give me the detail data duplicate lines when I do not have a match, which would be bad. So what I do is to add a condition to test the article date of expenditure between the employee effective start date and the date of actual end of the employee. It is a condition that I add to the workbook. There is NO join defined between PA_EXPENDITURE_ITEMS_ALL and PER_ALL_EMPLOYEES_F. But what does the discoverer is when it generates the SQL, is to put the symbol of outer join on this condition. That does not seem logical, why he would do this. After all, I'm having some retail spending with no record of employee for them. So I have to have a way to deal with situations of nowhere. In any case, when I added this condition and try to refresh the workbook when I get the message ORA-01417. So I did some playing. I realized that if I build a condtion like that - AND ei.expenditure_item_date BETWEEN nvl(per.effective_start_date,ei.expenditure_item_date-1) AND nvl (per.effective_end_date, ei.expenditure_item_date + 1)
then manually running a SQL query, I get good results. When I create this condition in discoverer, discoverer always ends by adding the symbol of the left outer join and I always get my message ORA-01417. Does anyone know of a sneaky way to keep discoverer of the addition of this symbol of outer join on my condition when discoverer built its SQL statement? I hope that I have explained the situation pretty well. Always a challenge to adequately describe a question.

    John Dickey

    Hello

The error ORA-01417 is a restriction of the database rather than an a discoverer. If you get wrong this discoverer entirely in. Here are some things you can do:

    1. you can set a condition:

    Nvl (per.effective_start_date, ei.expenditure_item_date) AND nvl(per.effective_end_date,ei.expenditure_item_date) OR ei.expenditure_item_date BETWEEN EI.expenditure_item_date BETWEEN nvl(per.effective_start_date,ei.expenditure_item_date) AND nvl(per.effective_end_date,ei.expenditure_item_date)

GOLD tells discoverer an outer join cannot be used, and it is why the sign (+) will not be added. This is not a real outer join but might work, as the dates are never null in the per_all_employees_f table.

    2. you can create a folder complex, combining the fields you wanted two tables PA. Then outer join this folder to the employee record, including the date of track conditions.

    3. If you only want the name of the employee in the per_all_employees_f table, and then you could implement a search function to translate the person_id in name of the employee. The function could be brought from the workbook so no join would be necessary. You might have to cache the result in the output function.

Don't know why you would try this until you can read the file, but it is.

Guess the data type of v_acctno, I don't think CLOB will be implicitly converted to NUMBER, try to use TO_NUMBER.

It's the execution and throw my exception and other... I am not able to solve...

This is because there is no problem.

    Check your error message

SQL Error: ORA-20101: inserting the regid value not allowed.. it will take auto number
    ORA-06512: at "SCOTT.TRI_UNQID";, line 11
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'SCOTT.TRI_UNQID'

Read from the bottom up. Oracle means

    1. a SCOTT trigger. TRI_UNQID caused an error
    2. the error occurred on line number 11
    3. the error message is ' insertion of the value to enter the not allowed... " It will take auto number.

Why oracle has to say what trigger or procedure caused the error? Because there might be several trigger or procedure that may generate the same error if a user just need to know what is causing the error. And a line number is always helpful for debugging.

So everything is good here. There is no problem to solve.

and another point is if it is inserted successfully with errors, then it's values are inserted into the table at the front not the end of the records... How is it going...

In a HEAP organized table this is SO forward or back (order of the lines is not relevant). If you want to display the records in an orderly manner use the ORDER BY Clause in the SELECT statement.

So all is good here as well.

Well, I solved the problem.  What I did was run a backup using the desktop mgr software, I then ran a restore, but I used the advanced option so that I could open the ipd backup file and select just the database of contacts and push than my computer to the device (using the copy button of right arrow in the middle of the Advanced window thingy).  I restarted and then sync and it WORKED!

    ORA-06512: at "FUNCTION_A", line 6

create the table table_2 (phone number)

insert into table_2 select function_a from dual

Now, I make the same mistake. It is to insert records into table_2

    Can someone please clarify this?

To be called from instructions SQL, stored function must obey "purity" following rules, which are intended to control the side effects:

    • rule1) When it is called from a SELECT statement or a parallelized INSERT , UPDATE , or DELETE statement, the function cannot change database tables.
    • rule2) When it is called from a INSERT , UPDATE , or DELETE statement, the function cannot query or modify database tables modified by that statement.

Can you please explain this? I think that these statements are contradicted with

insert into select double function_a table_2

When your function is called by a select statement, an error is triggered because of rule1).

When your function is called in an insert statement, no error is raised. The insert does not work in parallel (this is an insert row after all). So rule1) is also not infringed. The insert is on the table2, change table1. Because it does not modify the same table rule2) is not violated. So no reason to trigger an error.

  • To find the log/trace file containing the error ORA-00018

We use the Oracle 10 g on Linux platform. Our application Java has generated the error below:

An error occurred during the processing of the SQL statement... ORA-00018: exceeded maximum number of sessions

java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00018: exceeded maximum number of sessions

    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:113)

S/n, said he can't see this error in the alert log file. I want to know if there is any place in the Oracle Server i.e. any file/trace log file that can contain this error.

Oracle has two General classifications of errors; Errors database & application errors.

Oracle logs in the database for the file alert_SID.log errors.

Oracle will NOT connect to an error in application & permit enforcement measures considered appropriate (there included logging) for application errors.

    This application uses connection pooling.

    If not, why?
