• Is there a way to create a plan of action in vCAC and allow a user to select a network?

  We have 30 different VLAN used for various tasks within our Organization. I was wondering if there is a way to create a unique model vCAC and alow the user to choose which virtual machine network join to (at the time)?

  It's not like I can use a vCenter customization specification and just set up 'network-> Custom Settings-> interrogate the user'

  Or I have to create 30 Blue each connected to a different network?

• vCAC and pools resources of Cluster HA/DRS

  If pools of compute cluster resources are used on clusters HA/DRS, how to maintain these pools of resources properly when VCAC is implemented?

  Previously, when VMware admins deployed all virtual machines manually, they could always keep track of what were VMs in how resource with Betclic on a compute cluster.

  Virtual machines more you add to a pool of resources with 5000, stocks fewer are available for each virtual computer.  As an admin provisioning VMs directly without self-service in the image, you can keep track of the actions, reports and the processor resulting memory resources guaranteed and VMS during contention.

  VCAC now enter the picture.  Users can request their own virtual machines through self-service.  VMware admin comes and 50 new VMs showed during the night.  VCAC knows how, storage, processor and memory were available and all is well in this perspective.  But if I am not mistaken VCAC has no way of monitoring and to maintain the processor reports and calculate the values of sharing memory between different virtual machines on the same cluster.  An administrator must always manually maintain which.  Worse still it must now determine what requests were that appeared in the new virtual machines of the last nights VCAC configuration of the cluster and make sure that the actions they are awarded during the claim are proportionate to the actions assigned to the other virtual machines in other HA/DRS resource pools.  I don't know there is a solution to this problem that someone has.

  The idea here is that we should not have self service provisioning this related to these procedures that VMware admins have to do on clusters of calculation after a virtual machine is configured.

  I can understand where you are coming, but it also means that if sculpt you your cluster to the pools and those pools will fight for resources among them you will need to ensure that properly configure you the actions. Simply using the "High / Medium / Low" does not work when the number of virtual machines is not all too balanced, which is usually not.

  So yes, you can use VCAC to deploy your virtual machines. Yes, you can use pools of resources if you think that they will be the principal or cannot afford to take the risk. If you do:

  Write a script that configured the actions of your pools of resources based on the number of virtual machines in this pool and the relative priority. An example can be found here:

  I did some searching but did not find any license required vSphere regaring for vCAC. Can it run on Standard or Premium?

  Yes, POSSIBLE is not a requirement for vCAC (unlike vCloud Director)
  You can use vCAC to supply simple with simple networking VMs, without using components POSSIBLE.

  Since the upgrade from 6.0.1 to 6.1 (and oh what a joyful experience that was) I now have following error messages appearing on the vCAC and IDS devices admin pages: -.

  These errors do not seem critical for its not much but any ideas on how to clear this?

  This problem seems to be just a result of browser caching.  When the tab services on the vCAC device showed as empty, a cache is restarted and erased cleaned browser error and all services appeared.  At the same point on the two error messages disappear just devices.

• VCAC 6.0.1 issues with setting Active directory on tenants and pointers for install

  So I finished the installation of the VCAC 6.0.1 (published on 13-02-14) and all its components in my test harness.  I am able to connect using [email protected] no problem.  I wanted to give my ad 'Domain Admins' group to the default tenant rights.  I ran the test on connectivity to my AD domain successfully and added to the group Admins in the field of infrastructure and tenant administration Articles and updated.  After review of the tenant defaults remained all (I saw problems with AD administrators you do not add save but remove the "alias" solved this problem.)  When I logout of the VCAC and tried to log in using one of my accounts of Member of the domain admin ([email protected]) seems not to authenticate.  I tried to reboot the device identity thinking maybe it was an AD replication or sync problem but no luck.

  I tried to created a second tenant and populated with the same parameters except of course the name of the tenant by default but not having also no luck there either.  Include some screenshots showing the configurations, but it is really strange behavior and don't know if it's just because it is such a release again or I'm doing something wrong... any suggestions on the place where to even try to troubleshoot it would be appreciated.  I even went so far as to restart the 3 servers, thinking it was a synchronization delay or something but still the same issue

  Note aside a few things I learned the hard way on this facility where people run it for the first time

  - Do not install .net 4.5.1 on your server of iaas.  I had to uninstall it and download version 4.5, included in the page install a device vcac https://your-vcac-appliance server: 5480/Installer /.

  -If your tenant administrator accounts save after hitting the update try to remove the name of the alias for your domain as it seemed to solve my problem (and native AD did not work at all for me at least)

  Well, what I thought about it.  It turns out that delete and then re-create the identity store for the tenant to vsphere.local (the default when first created), I was finally able to include the correct information to AD, then a final reboot of the environment and I was able to authenticate to AD.  Also for those of you who did not default that there no store identity for the first tenant then please make sure that create you an and save yourself a lot of headaches and frustration :-)

• The VRM Agent errors in vCAC 6.1 - cannot complete the connection due to an incorrect user name or password.

  Receive errors of VRM subject officer in vCAC 6.1 on a random/intermittent basis.

  I read the other posts documenting similar errors but in almost all of these positions, these errors arose following a request by commissioning has failed, a misconfigured in vCO vCenter Server Plugin interface or some other connection failure distinguishable. In my case, this condition is intermittent (at least it seems to be) and resolves in the end. I have no problem of supply of virtual machines on one of my endpoints configured in vCAC and, as far as I can tell, the network appears to be stable.

  At this stage since there seems to be no significant or negative impact for the health of the entire system, (for aesthetic reasons only), I usually end up the purge of these error messages in the SQL DB Table. I wonder if anyone else has this problem or clues as to what may be the cause of this?

  Indeed, it turns out that our network has been unstable with intermittent packet loss and the routing of the shortcomings... The main culprit seems to have been Channeling of Virtual Port (VPC) behaves poorly or badly configured on a physical switch uplink... VPC, in our case, was created to supplement our vSphere Teaming and failover policy settings.

• Configuration properties by using vCO/vRO IP and BuildingMachine?

  A quick training is I'm trying to set the properties of the IP address, subnet, gateway and DNS primary/secondary mask in a vCO workflow using strain BuildingMachine to make use of IPAM.

  Using the following method (Thanks SkyCoop), I can set a custom property not related to networking:

  Jake - make sure that you do this in the phase of machine building... Properties must be defined before the virtual machine is deployed and customized.< scrap="" that,="" didn't="" read="" your="">

  I use creating / updating the property on machine virtual entity workflow:

  -Set the IP - VirtualMachine.Network0.Address property

  -Define the mask - VirtualMachien.Network0.SubnetMask

  -Set the gateway - VirtualMachine.Network.Gateway

  Works really well for Windows and Linux.

  What guest operating system do you use? I had a strange problem with Windows Server where the INVESTIGATION period would not get assigned to the server unless the DHCP service is enabled.

  Do you use a vCenter specification of customization with your plan?

  I've set up my environment vcac with vcac standard version license key. All the configuration was completed and I am able to use the portal to configure the virtual machine without approval function (Standard license). Now, I got my Advanced license key, but when I add the new license key, there is no policy approval tab (Administrator-> approval policies) is displayed.

  Ideal what I have to do to make it work?

  I understood the problem. I fail to update the license key in vcac device as well. After the update of the key to the time portal VCAC and VCAC device, the tab is displayed after the re-login with tenant / administrator for approval.

• Properties not applied to vcac 6.2 provisioned vm

  I'm trying to implement the vcac 6.2 for the first time. Without going into all the details of how I got here, I'm finally at the place where I can try and test my setup. I ask a computer via the catalog and the machine is named according to the prefixes in my machine, it is assigned an IP address from my network profile - everything seems as it should of vcac and even in vCenter. But when the virtual machine is deployed and built in vCenter, I open the console and log on to it, the host name is my model, not the name of the computer are entrusted to him. The network is also information of my model, and not the IP address assigned by vcac. If I look in vcac under details, he listed as I want; the properties are simply not actually get assigned to the virtual machine. I've implemented all the relevant custom properties in the action plan; Does this make any sense? What is the huge piece of what I'm missing? Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

• Assignment of IP with vCAC external network profile

  I joined vCAC and NSX, and note that the Service Edge router that gets deployed on a blueprint multi-machine receives 2 IP addresses on its unique "uplink" profile external network interface.  Here is my setup and what is happening.  Any help to understand why this would be useful.  Not a huge deal because it is a learning laboratory, but when I go to implement it in a production environment, I need to know if this is expected behavior, or if something is wrong because it effectively reduces the number of possible networks to deploy-able by half.  Again, not a big problem as this "transport network" (the section between the Edge Gateway manually deployed and dynamic Service Edge routers) will exist entirely in the vSphere environment and can be as big as a class A network, if necessary, it is however a huge waste of space IP I want to solve it if possible.

  Topology:

  I have a NSX Edge and the virtual wire (switch NSX L2) already deployed in the environment.  Within vCAC I have:

  -a reserve related to the dvPortGroup created by the NSX L2 switch

  -an external network profile that is used to configure the port to uplink of dynamically deployed NSX routers edge of Service to connect to the LAN segment between the dynamic ESR and the switch of NSX Edge/L2, already deployed

  -a profile of NAT network 1 number which is used to configure the virtual machines deployed from vCAC plans

  -a vSphere vCAC VM blueprint pointing to a snapshot of a virtual computer within the environment vSphere (linked clone deployment)

  -a plan of multi-machine vCAC which contains the above plan and assigns a network interface to the virtual machine and using the profile of network NAT 1 to configure the IP settings on the virtual machine.  MM master plan contains only a single VM in order to test the dynamic creation of network and IP assignment features/integration between vCAC and NSX.

  Topology resulting, once the virtual computer is deployed:

  Edge (deployed manually) NSX gateway

  NSX L2 Switch/Virtual Wire (deployed manually

  NSX edge router Service (deployed as part of the deployment of the vCAC action plan)

  In theory what needs to happen is that when I ask a resource of the Architecture SDSE MM:

  1. the ESR is deployed with 2 interfaces: 1 for the external network configured with an IP address available on the corresponding subnet and 1 for internal NAT network configured with the IP address of the default gateway is configured in the profile of NAT network.

  2 NAT rules and treatment of traffic are automatically configured in the ESR

  3. the virtual computer is deployed and configured with a NETWORK adapter with the configurations appropriate IP such as specified in the profile of NAT network.

  
  What is actually happening:
  1. the ESR gets deployed with 2 network cards; 1 NETWORK card for uplink to the external network, which gets 2 IP addresses on the subnet (instead of 1) 13 and 1 NIC for the default gateway of the NAT had network configured with the IP address of the NAT network default gateway.  Steps 2 and 3 still occur.

  It is the expected behavior. If you deploy an edge manually, you will be asked for a 'IP management', and then an IP address for the use of the uplink. It is the second IP source address. If you were to use a NAT, you get an additional IP address for each VM on the NAT's segment.

• Change to the vCAC device certificate - is this possible?

  Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.

  I have to do something terribly wrong with this because I can´t see where´s the problem.

  I created a Microsoft CA and created the model suite VMware KB 2062108 (VMware KB: creating a model of certificate authority Microsoft for the creation of SSL certificate in vSphere 5.x ).

  With this, I was able to successfully complete the certificate for the following applications:

  -vSphere 5.5 (vCenter and ESXi);

  -View of the horizon (connecting to the server, security server, and composer).

  Now with vCAC:

  -vCAC 6.1;

  -Using vCenter SSO;

  I followed the "vCloud Automation Center 6 certificates A to Z" article (vCloud Automation Center 6 certificates A to Z |) VMware Consulting Blog - Blogs of VMware) for the creation and replacement of the certificate of App vCAC.

  The change was apparently with success since:

  -When I go to https:// < vcac_FQDN > / vcac it shows the correct certificate;

  -My Don t of browsers complain.

  Unfortunetly, I misspoke unfortunately :-(

  When I wen to configure SSO in vCAC, he would show me a message saying that the certificate of vCenter was not reliable. I have didn t worth actually much since configuration is complete anyway.

  The main problem was the following. Once I tried to access the portal using [email protected], she would throw me a message saying:

  "Failed to connect. Please contact your system administrator and report error < CODE > code"(code for each attempt changes)

  VCAC admin, I see the service "shell-ui-app" with a "FAILED" status and a glance in catalina.out (using the code provided above) told me this:

  Well, that was a weird message. But what makes it most called my attention was something written above, I noticed was repeating all the time:

  Certificates not approved with serial number: [< big_number >] and the thumbprint: [< big_hexa >]

  Certificates not approved with serial number: [< another_big_number >] and the thumbprint: [< another_big_hexa >]

  I checked and this is exactly the certificate that I assigned to vCAC and root certificate of the CA.

  Thinking that the problem was caused because the vCAC App won´t trust my certificate authority root, I tried to force a little. I found 2 keystore:

  -/etc/vcac/vcac.keystore

  -/ usr/java/jre-vmware/lib/security/cacerts

  I ran a ""keytool-list - v - keystore "in two of them and I noticed that indeed my luckily to CA within the. "

  Therefore, I made a "'keytool-import-trustcacerts-file < CA_certificate > - < My_CA_Alias > alias - keystore". "

  Another audit confirmed that, now, the certificate was in the keystore. Restarted the device.

  And so far the certificates remain unreliable. Really, what I am doing wrong? :-(

  And now the last update.

  As something that already happened a few times, it just started to work on its own.

  (1) I changed the device identity and vCAC with CA-signed certificates.

  (2) for the vCAC SSO breast device configuration, the untrusted certificates message appeared.

  (3) original problem appeared;

  (4) manually import my certificate of the CA root within both cacerts and vcac.keystore within the device files vCAC.

  (5) restarted everything;

  (6) problem;

  (7) abandoned and changed all to Self-signed;

  (8) vCAC sharp device to vCenter SSO;

  (9) the message of untrusted certificates did NOT appear;

  (10) on the unit to CA-signed certificate;

  (11) restarted;

  (12) it s work.

  Go figure.

  From time to time a virtual machine is stuck in the logic internal the vCAC and it would be easier to simply delete it manually to figure what happened the devil.

• device identity Vcac "check updates gray

  I went to run a "check updates" on my device vcac and I forgot to put my proxy. I moved and now he and "install updates" is both greyed out. I rebooted and close several times. Whenever it happens they are both still grayed out. Any ideas?

  FYI, if anyone has the same problem. Support told me to do the following and it worked:

  Add the cd-rom unit, attach the .iso in vmware update device, change the update settings for ' check for updates ' and set the time to some time in the near future, as the next time. When the update is running, it will ungrey options.
