VCB San invited via the Lan

Probally a stupid question, but here is the senario.

I have a small San with 2 attached ESX 3.5 servers, there is no room for more servers on the San.

I would have 1 virtual server as the VCB server and save the rest of the guests through this server. While I would use backup agent to write to tape.

Everything I read says that you must have a physical box to use VCB with a SAN.

Could I not configure VCB virtual server to use the NDB (backup Lan)?, I would back up the Vmware customers who are on the SAN.  I would create just the virtual VCB with enough disk space to process the image.

You can be better used added to warm mode instead of the NBD method. It will give more efficient backups and not put to the test the COS. It is my first recommendation whenever I can not configure mode SAN.

Check out my Guide to proven practices VCB on the help-> http://viops.vmware.com/home/docs/DOC-1392 VI:OPS

  • My new airport does not detect my existing WiFi network, I can connect only via the LAN.

Bought a new airport 1 TB TimeCapsule and I wanted to add to my existing via a WLAN network. It does not detect it and I can connect only via the LAN. What I am doing wrong?

Unfortunately, unable to connect to a 3rd time Capsule part wireless using a Wi - Fi.

You need to connect to the time Capsule to your existing modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanent... like the Time Capsule Setup Guide illustrates.

If you really don't want the time Capsule to connect using the wireless... she can do... If it gets a signal to another Apple wireless router. So if you were ready to add another Apple... as an AirPort Extreme router... and connect it to your existing Ethernet cable router/modem and configure AirPort Extreme to broadcast a wireless signal... .then.. .the Time Capsule would be able to connect in this way, assuming that he is where he can receive a good quality of AirPort Extreme wireless signal.

  • WRT54GP2 cascade successfully, but VOIP does not work via the LAN port

    Hello

I searched a lot for a solution to my problem, but have found that it is really above my level of understanding. My apologies if this question has been answered before – if she, I can not find or understand.

I have an existing wired network that is running on a Netgear WPN824v2. This configuration works perfectly.

I want to add a Linksys WRT54GP2 to this network to act as a Wi - Fi hotspot and the VOIP connection point. I don't want to replace the Netgear with the Linksys, I want the different VOIP in a physical location access point. I would therefore like to them so cascading: Internet-> modem->-> Linksys Netgear. I do not want to bind the Netgear and Linksys Wireless, but instead, use a cable.

I actually had this works almost perfectly, using the following parameters:

NETGEAR IP 192.168.1.1 with wireless off

Linksys IP 192.168.1.254 with disabled DHCP, active wireless.

In this way, the Internet works, I can open a session the two routers and wireless of Linksys works very well.

The problem is that VOIP will not work. I think it is because the connection between the two routers is: port LAN Netgear-> port of Linksys LAN.

I understand VOIP tries to go through the Linksys WAN port, not the LAN port. If I connect LAN Netgear port-> Linksys WAN port, the phone works indeed but I can no longer connect to the Linksys, wireless router and unable to connect more.

I would like to VOIP and the wireless work at the same time. Is there a way to get the VOIP by the Linksys LAN port instead of the WAN port? Or is there a way to make wireless and router connection work, if the Linksys is connected to the Netgear via its WAN port?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Jono

When you wired your VOIP phone directly to the Netgear router you can in fact calls?

If your Netgear router connect to the Linksys router to the WAN port, it will not work. As you already disable DHCP on your Linksys router and you will not have access to your Linksys router. This type of configuration has some other parameters.

Connect the Netgear router to router Linksys on the WAN Port, then connect your computer to the router on the LAN Port Linksys. To connect to the Linksys router using default IP: 192.168.1.1 and change the LAN IP of the router Linksys 192.168.2.1 and DHCP must be activate and click on save settings. Once the parameters are now save your network power cycle and all your computers should be able to go online.

  • Trying to share a wifi Connector 1 USB machine via the LAN to another machine

I have 2 machines, one with vista 32 bit and the other xp pro 64-bit. Mcahine vista has connectivity to the network using a wifi USB dongle. I set up a LAN hub and the machines are file sharing very well, I'm trying to access the net the XP pro machine through its connection to the local network without success and have tried everything. 2nd attempt I configured manually the IP addresses, and it still does not work! Any suggestions...?

Do not manually configure IP addresses.

On the Vista machine, turn on Internet connection sharing on the connection that uses the Wi - Fi dongle.  If asked what to use for the home networking connection, select the connection to the local network.  This will automatically give connection to the local network of the IP address 192.168.0.1.

Configure the connection to the local network of the XP Pro machine to automatically obtain an IP address.  In the 192.168.0.x range, it will get an IP address from the Vista machine.

  • LAN Internet - unable to connect to the Internet via a LAN cable

    Hello

I have an ASUS F3S laptop series running on Vista.

I went on vacation in early June this year and when

I got home that I could not access my internet broadband via the bootable.

I have an another old laptop which works fine using the local network.

I use the ASUS at work and you can get the internet via wireless LAN.

When I try to go online using the LAN laptop trying to access the internet

using the mini port WWAN and not the LAN port.

I have tried to replace the drivers and in desperation, have used the recovery

drive to get Vista back to its original setting.

I still do not have access via the LAN port.

    Any ideas?

You must re-create the network connection Wireless LAN (remove the current which is probably set to use the mini port WWAN and create a new one) and specify the LAN port during installation.  This should solve the problem. Check out the following articles for some detailes, suggestions, troubleshooting instructions and general information that may be useful.  Pay special attention to how to remove a wireless/network connection as it differs from a regular connection, and if not done correctly can continue to exist when you think he's gone (and the system it shows same gone but is not).

  • Access to the network of a device ethernet via the ports of the router.

I was wondering if someone can help me with a router configuration. I have an ethernet device, a built-in Digi Connect me stack ethernet. I put the IP, subnet, gateway, etc. on this device. It has a serverver web and telnet and FTP features. What I want to do, this is the device connected to a WRT54GS router to one of the ports on the back. Then I want to connect internet routers connecting to my local network. On the LAN, I have a PC I want to use to access the web page of the Digi device through the router. The LAN has affected the PC an IP address of 3.11.201.33 and assigns the router IP Internet of 3.11.201.32. The PC is set to dynamically set an IP address. I have configured the Digi device to have an IP address of 192.168.1.100. I want to open a web page on the PC and connect a digi device. I can't get this to work. I tried to add the IP address of the device Digi to the DMZ on the router, but that did not help. How can I get from the PC via the LAN, through the router, on the port that is connected to the Digi? Any help is apprecieated!

Outgoing FTP for multiple devices behind the router need not any special installation... you will not need to pass all the ports for that.

You can port forward more than a device with the stock firmware digi... I just forgot how port forwarding 'niche roles' it is on the page... the WRT54G V5 has 10, so assuming that no other device in transmitted port, you should be able to forward the ports ftp and telnet for 5 devices.

  • Another computer can access my personal files across the LAN?

Some background info: I moved into my dorm to the school a few months ago and I'll use the dormitory internet via lan cable in my room. I'll also put ad hoc internet connection for my phone. Recently, I realized in the "computer > network" I am able to see a list of computers and media devices that is connected to the network "dormitory" via the lan cable. I had problems that these users may be able to see my computer and access my personal files.

I went to check my 'advanced sharing settings' and these are the following parameters, I had put: ' network discovery: on ', ' files and printers sharing: on "," public folder sharing: on "and finally" Sharing password protected: on»
Since the discovery of the 'network' is on, my computer can be seen on the network too. I realized my "files and printers sharing" and "public folder sharing" was also lit and I was more worried about my computer being easily accessible by others in the dormitory network. However as my password protected sharing is turned on also, is it still possible for other computers to access my computer and my personal files?
Thank you for your kind attention

In the centre network and sharing, make your network a "Public network" rather than a "home network" or "work network".

This should have the effect to make the following settings in 'advanced sharing settings.

    • Discovery - Off network
    • Files and printers sharing - Off
    • Public folder sharing - Off

If these parameters only to not configure this way, when you changed in 'Public network', to do so.

  • The Portege 2000 via PXE - LAN operating system reinstallation

    Hello again,

So as said before I'm trying to reinstall Win XP from the recovery provided CD.
In fact, I have 4 CD: one that contains only Windows 2000 Pro and 3 CD containing Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro. Of course, the 4 CDs were shipped with the computer.

I tried via the floppy and CD-ROM drive that does not work (see previous section), but I also tried via PXE - LAN.
So I installed a trial version of Windows Server 2003 in 3 months on my desktop and ran the RIS (Remote Installation Service).

    1. He accepted the CD Windows 2000 Professional as a CD of Windows Setup, but when you launch the Portege 2000, after some time, when he looks for the configuration of the computer, I get an error message that the driver for the network card is missing and it may not all go further.

    2. when I run the installation remotely with CD 1 of 3, it does not even recognize as a Windows CD of Installation!

So, I managed to install a Win XP Family Edition that I run normally on my desktop, but I don't have any driver installed (WIFI, infrared, sound card, etc.) but also, I have only 1 license for the home edition.

Someone at - it an idea on how to proceed with this method (I mean with the 3 CDs)?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

    > Has anyone at - it an idea on how to proceed with this method - I mean with the 3 CD
Do you mean the Toshiba recovery CD?

I never tried to recover the image of Toshiba via RIS, but in my opinion that RIS does not recognize the 3 as a Windows CD of Installation CD1 because the recovery CD Toshiba image isn't really a Windows CD of Installation!

The restore CD contains only the image files. To my knowledge these are ghost files

  • Satellite X 200: Vista can't to the internet via a LAN network cable

    Hello.

A month ago, I bought my Toshoba Satellite X 200.
Everything worked fine until 3 days ago. I had been downloading over night and when I came home from work it was still downloading but I couldn't visit our Web site, or I could write about messenger, but I put online...

I unplugged my bit torrent client, but that did not help at all. I can't connect to the torrent thing now and I can't connect to messenger, or the internet.

If I'm looking for in what Messenger is the problem it says that there is a problem with the gateway can I fix this and the following problem is DNS and main ports... If I use windows own tool for the research of the reason is that it cannot communicate with the server dns tha. If I try to log in on the wireless, there is no problem and my friends can easily use my internet but I can't.

I can see also all other computers on the network. I think I have almost tried everything... Hope you guys can help me

  • VISA can not find the oscilloscope connected via Ethernet (LAN)

    Hello

I'm using Labview 8.5.1 and installed 4.5 VISA. I connected my computer to an oscilloscope Agilent DSO5014A via the ethernet cable. I installed the driver (I even tried the 2 versions found here http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=10256).

In "Measurement and Automation Explorer" However, after clicking on 'Devices and Interfaces' and then 'new', the device is not automatically found and manual entry of the IP address is not more successful. (I checked that my Ethernet port works and cable as well)

    Any idea?

Well, IP - thing seems to be linked to the AGILENT driver. Sorry, but I have no opportunity to test it, because I don't have one of these scopes. By the way: great synchronization

  • Ping LAN internal via the IPSec VPN Client

    It's my scenario.

    Software Version 7.2 (1)

I activated the VPN in the external Interface. The IPSec Client pool is in the range 192.168.98.150 - 192.168.98.175.

    • Allowed "a whole icmp" out Interface access both within the Interface.
    • ICMP & ICMP error inspection is enabled.
    • NAT-control is disabled.

Clients are unable to ping any IP within the LAN 'inside' but at the same time, they are able to access the devices in the LAN using HTTP, HTTPS, SSH & TELNET.

    CASE 1:

access-list SHEEP extended permits all ip 192.168.98.0 255.255.255.0

    NAT (Inside) 0 access-list SHEEP

I get the following log "translation portmap creation failed for CBC icmp outdoors"

    CASE 2:

    If I add a static 192.168.98.0 public (exterior, Interior) 192.168.98.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

I am able to Ping and the problem is solved.

Could someone explain please this behavior?

    1. Why ICMP only needs a NAT device when TCP & UDP traffic works very well.
    2. Why a portmap translation error? Why not dynamic identity NAT?

    Hello

So he was correspondent to a configuration 'nat' on the 'outside' interface that had no configuration corresponding 'global' for the destination (probably inside) interface which caused problems and produces the 'portmap' error.
