  (1) Yes, plugin configuration is workflow (this is the approach recommended new plug-ins; the old configuration of Web UI is deprecated and will be removed at some point).

  (2) only the SSO mode is supported; LDAP won't work. Note that the UNIQUE authentication token is acquired in the name of the user logged in vSphere client to Web, so you must make sure that this user has enough permissions to connect to vRO.

  (3) it should be newer versions of this plugin, and compatibility matrix showing which plugin version is compatible with given the vCD. Don't know where it is, however.

  Hello. I'm under SRM with vCenter 5.1 5.1.1 update 1. Primary and secondary sites separated by a physical firewall. I followed the KB on ports:

  I tested with telnet and I can connect successfully to SRM primary vCenter over 80 remote and vice versa remotely SRM to primary vCenter. Each vCenter can communicate successfully with their own local server of MRS. more 8095. In the primary vCenter, I am able to successfully establish the reciprocity, and after that I am prompted for the remote vCenter creds, I see both sites successfully connected.

  Now, when I jump on the remote vCenter (recovery site) I'm able to establish reciprocity between the two sites, but when the prompt to enter creds for the remote vCenter (main site), I get an error that comes up as "Impossible to connect to the remote server.

  Not sure where the problem lies. Any help most appreciated.

  Hi Stefan. Thanks for the reply. Only, I solved the problem. I asked our guys to firewall to create a rule to recovery side vCenter for the side protected vCenter via port 80/443. Yes, for vCenter vCenter. As soon as this rule, he creates my side recovery shows two connected sites. Now, the strange thing is that under knockout of SRM firewall rules, there is no vCenter vCenter rule to:

  I recently migrated our infrastructure to ESX, vCenter and vSphere 5.1 to 5.5.0c

  I also uninstalled and installed the "vSphere Update Manager" with the version 5.5.0c

  When I go to the plugin section of the 'vCenter - vSphere client"I have a plugin in version 5.1.0.13071 and I am unable to install (or enable) version 5.5.

  

  First I tried to disable the plugin (right click in the window above) and "Re-register to vCenter Server" of the VMwareUpdateManagerUtility.exe on the server "vSphere Update Manager.  == > Unsuccessfully

  I looked on the Web site http://IP_OF_MY_VCENTER/mob/?MOID=ExtensionManager to try to find the VUM plugin. Unfortunately, I could not determine the name of the plugin in the next screen == > without success

  

  I then tried the rest of the "vSphere Update Manager server":

  -launch the following command in the folder C:\Program Files (x 86) line \VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager\ to try to update the plugin: vciinstallutils.exe - v IP_OF_MY_VCENTER_SERVER 80 - U root ROOT_PASSWORD s extension.xml Pei Pei - c. - l. extupdate == > unsuccessfully

  Last important point: the v5.1.0.13071 actually installed the plugin is functional. Then... there at - it a problem in the version number displayed?

  Hi all

  This message to tell you that I found the solution. In fact, I'm really ashamed.

  I did the whole process VUM installation WITHOUT having to restart my 'vCenter - vSphere Client. That's all.

  When I rebooted my 'vCenter - vSphere Client", I was able to download and install the plugin VUM v5.5.0.17854. (as shown in the following screenshot).

  

  So the lesson for me is: 'always restart your vSphere Client when you perform updates.

  You can upgrade vCenter server 4.1Update03 to 5.1Update01a, and it keep MSSQL2005 express Embedded DB and data in it. VCenter server upgrade with no problems found. I think that the product of VMware interoperability matrix titles only to distance/Custom not Database not the fact embedded database part of the vCenter server installation.

  If this isn't a supported database, upgrade to vCenter server would have failed to be upgraded with the inconsistent database or considering implementing in custody.

• Unable to register/unregister vCenter server extensions.

  Tried the fix for article KB 1025351, still having the issue.  I try to install the converter vmware again because I installed this plugin on another computer in the client vsphere (computer other than the server vcenter, where I originally installed the plugin) and it is running to slow down trying to do a conversion compared to running directly on the vcenter server.  So I went back to the vCenter Server and for some reason, he keeps trying to use other resources to computers, so I uninstalled the converter of vmware since the two machines, and when I try to install vmware on the server vcenter converter I get the error message next, impossible to register/unregister vCenter server extensions.  Called Dell (our vmware support), they are puzzled and want blowing me my vcenter server and vcenter database and start over.  Anyone have ideas, really, I don't want to start from scratch.

• plugins scripted, native assistants and HTTP cookies

  I'm developing a plugin script for a family of network devices. After getting it working mainly, I make an effort to refactor in order to follow the instructions of the user interface. It's pretty simple and I am happy with the guide because it makes it easy to make a plugin appear native, but I'm having some trouble to make parts of the plugin converted assistants rather than forms of display in the main window.

  The two problems are essentially:

  1. Launch of a new window in a plugin script seems not "native" - it's just a new IE window. I tried to open a new window by Javascript as well as targeting "_new" to an anchor point, and both behave the same way.

  2. HTTP cookies in the browser instance integrated into the client vSphere for my plugin are not sent to the app server when a new window opens. I checked with tcpdump - I see http cookies when the request comes from the vSphere client, but as soon as a new window is created, the cookies are not present.

  I suspect that these two problems can either be resolved with a solution or that none will be possible.

  I use cookies for several reasons:

  1. query string variables is passed to the plugin the vSphere client are sent only on request initiated from the client to the plugin. If I want to keep any of this information for the following requests that come from the plugin, not the vSphere client, I pass somehow - and cookies makes the most sense, so I don't have to mess with the fields of hidden form or URL rewriting in anchors.

  2. the plugin requires additional authentication. Not all users need to get unfettered access to the devices managed by the plugin and I authenticate users - so after I do that, I hide an authentication token in a cookie.

  I am not forced to use cookies, so I'm open to suggestions for another way to do what I'm trying to do better. I suspect (but not confirmed) that because cookies are not defined, basic HTTP authentication would fail in a similar way as both simplify attached to the session http request headers. Strongly, I would prefer not to have to encode and transmit everything under query string parameters.

  So, here are my two questions:

  1. How a plugin script can launch a 'native' window to display a wizard when the source of the new window is the plugin itself and not a point of extension?

  2. How a plugin script can pass data between the parties, integrated within the main window of the vSphere client and a new window for a dialogue or an Assistant?

  I don't think you can do much about the IE window.  It's kind of the nature of the beast.

  Instead of cookies, why not use the session ID?  It will be current session ID your in the vCenter and would make a key for a database (either MySQL, Perl Sessions, etc.).  You can store your additional values under this key.  You will need to create logic on your web server, but it will correct the dependence of cookie.

  What type of additional authentication are you talking about?  Your plugin is talking to another SOAP/REST instance to manage network devices?  I think the session of treatment for server-side the sessionId vCenter would be your best bet.

• Clean access - manual update of Nessus Plugin

  The last nessus.org 2.2 plugin file is greater than the seemed allowed download size via the clean Access Manager Web Interface.

  When I manually download the plugins through the CAM, I get the following error of the CAM.

  You don't seem to be able to remove some of the pluggins.tar.gz file for some reason nessus plugins any (I think it is write-protected), so I can't delete files to archive and download a smaller.

  How will I be able to download Nessus Plugins on the CAM? Is there another way that anyone knows? Surely, we should be able to do so through the prompt as well.

  I finally installed this way, but in a slightly different way. I used the tool to update-nessus-plugins to download and install the plugins in the directory. They appear still not in the GUI until I took an individual and any plugin using the GUI. Then all the plugins appeared in the user interface and can be used.
