VCS X7.2.1 to the PBX

Is it possible to create a single trunk audio SIP between one PBX other than cisco supporting SIP and a X7.2.1 VCS trunks?   The VCS is installed without a call manager and is not part of a CISCO UC deployment.  It is only used for video conferencing.   We want now to people in the other pbx CISCO to be able to dial in audio only conferences in VCS.   Does anyone do this?   What are the issues?

Theoretically possible, simply create a neighbor area and search rules appropriate to point to the adjacent area.

  • VCS with Mu - Law when the SIP media processing

Hi guys, I have a very specific behavior.

A customer has problems to integrate a VCS Starter Pack X7.2.1 with an Alcatel PBX with a SIP trunk.

    The problem is:

This PBX is in Europe, so that it uses A - Law (they can´t change this).

When a dial an extension using H323 as protocol endpoint, I can force the Protocol G711 A - law on the trunk SIP (generating SDP interworked), but when that point of termination (C20 runningn TC5.1.4) using SIP, the PBX Don t accept a p2p support. It must be mandated by the VCS.

If force us the media through the VCS (by using encryption B2BUA or SIP Lock Mode), the codec negotiated btw VCS and endpoint to the title of this first step is G711 Mu - Law (PCMU) and the accepted PBX codec is PCMA, causing a shift and a loud noise in the call.

No idea if we can force or configure VCS to use G711a as the Protocol when a SIP - SIP call with stream media through VCS?

PS: I think that this isn't a problem in the United States, because they use the Mu - Law encoding.

    Thank you

Can you put a cap set the filter on the endpoint at all?

    xConfiguration Experimental CapsetFilter: "G.711mu"

  • LYNC 2013 to replace the PBX

Hello, I need to know a few things about MS Lync 2013 before deciding to implement in our Organization. I'm looking for the solution of IP telephony. I currently have a Panasonic PBX. I can implement LYNC 2013 to replace the PBX. If so, how can I connect external telephone lines? How to receive calls on the company's phone numbers? How can I call a customer since the company's telephone lines? and how to handle it all?

    Thank you

    Hi Jihad,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

  • Connect Skype and incoming calls to the PBX - account problem

    Hello

I have Skype Connect enabled and linked to my PBX with a SIP profile.

Now, I need activate incoming calls from Skype to my PBX.

Therefore, I need to link a Skype business profile account, but he refuses because the account I want to connect is a 'personal account '.

-Can I convert this account to business account?

    - Or maybe I can delete this account and reuse the same Skype name?

Currently, I have 2 accounts (the admin Manager, "msfsupply" and a different account 'msf.supply').

I can't activate one of them for incoming calls.

I would like to be able to use one of these Skype names for incoming calls from my Skype Connect.

Please tell us what is the best thing to do.

    Thank you

    Renaud

    Haha...

I started first with the help of Skype.

They told me to contact microsoft, because it is a business problem.

    I called Microsoft

They told me that it was not for them either and I should post a question here on answers.microsoft.com to get a technician on that.

    Skype sale:

    https://www.Skype.com/en/business/

We do not work for Microsoft.

We are mainly volunteers here, just like you, computer users who give free advice from other users in our own spare time.

So, all I can suggest is TechNet, if Skype and Microsoft won't help you:

  • VCS 7.2.2. and the integration of Lync 2010

    Hi all / Andreas,.

I was hoping that you could help us with a problem we have in our lab environment to get one of our areas of Lync 2010 and our video customers talk together.

Basically, we have only one video field ([email protected] / * /-2 areas of Lync and [email protected] / * / and [email protected] / * / )

We use a single gateway to lync VC to our laboratory and a VC control that takes care of all the [email protected] / * / registered customers.

The [email protected] / * / can make calls with the two areas of lync 1 and 2 with success.

However only Lync field 1 can communicate with our [email protected] / * /. Lync doman 2 users can not reach a customer VC that their presence shows unknown.

We have no active findMe and prefer not to do this now. (If no record of FindMe on Lync)

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated... Is it even possible that we are trying to achieve?

    Thank you

    SC

With the help of several areas and a third domain for shared video endponints for these two areas is not at least common deployment.

For the best support findme is btw a requirement.

If you want to use two different areas that you would waste away should look into if the old relay of ocs / road direct way might

be a workaround or get two VCS (clusters), one for each area of lync you can point only to a lync destination

address signaling. Not sure if you can fix the routing to Domain2 also in both servers lync.

If you do not get a response better / more input here, be sure to ask your Cisco partner / rep.

  • VCS ExpressWay and control over the different Versions

    Hello world

Can be used on a newer VCS Highway then control VCS?

Currently we have a highway of VCS and a tester of VCS X6.1 running. I plan to upgrade to X7.2.1 and will temporarily have the South, the new version with the old version running control.

I don't see any documentation that may not be completed. Especially since X7.2.1 had interop tests already performed with X6.x.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Please check the following page 8, section "Prerequisites", document

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/VCs/config_guide/Cisco_VCS_Basic_Configuration_Control_with_Expressway_Deployment_Guide_X7-2.PDF

    Prerequisites

Before you begin the configuration of the system, make sure that you have access to:

-Guide the administrator of VCS and VCS Getting Started Guide (for reference purposes)

-control of VCS running the version X 5 or later

-a PC connected by Ethernet to a local network that allows to route HTTP (S) traffic to the VCS

-a web browser runs on the PC

-a serial interface on the PC and the cable (if the initial configuration must be performed on the interface series)

Answer to your question, there is no problem if VCSE and VCSC installed on versions of different software.

  • VCS - C to the VCS-E to manually start the SIP connection

I have the connection of VCS - C to VCS - E works correctly VCS - C is on the local network and VCS - E is on the demilitarized zone. I'm trying to firewall configuration that correctly based on the documentation. When I add some rules he interrupts the area SIP connection. I have to remove the rules, then restart the VCS - C to get the box to connect again. Is there a way to make the box try again the connection without having to reboot? Yes, I'm a noob to this, forgive me if the terminology is not correct.

    Fur

The VCS - C must always try to connect again. Maybe its your firewall / nat between the two

    who behaves strange here.

In general, if you allow outbound communication of c with the e and the answer to

    You should be fine.

Best regards, forcing the reestabishment of the connection, you can go to the client area of course

on the vcs - c, set the sip to off mode, save, enter the updated area again, set it to the suite and save.

  • Trying to link my VCS to my TMS, but I get no response VCs https in the TMS

    Hello

I'm trying to get my MSD to talk to my VCS, but whenever I try to get the two to talk to each other. In my TMS, it said "no https response" of the VCS. I know that HTTPS is enabled in my VCS, what else could be the problem?

Do you have a hostname on your VCS? DNS is able to resolve the domain your RESUME FULL name?

Please, try the following on your TMS:

    (1) in the TMS Server RDP
    (2) open Administrative Tools > local security policy
    3) go to security settings > local policies > Security Options > System cryptography: Use FIPS compatible algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing.
If this option is enabled, please disable it and then repeat the test.

  • CPL configuration for the handling of source on VCS - E

    Hi all
When we tried to have a video call with an external company on the VCS - E, the address IP of CUCM appear in the distant field rather end when making external calls.

It occurs because the SIP URI field on the sx device interface has completed our IP CUCM ( [email protected]/ * /)

We are discussing with the TAC engineer, this problem can be solved by making one of these options below
    • 1-) field of sets for the CUCM so the field will not appear the IP address.
    • 2-) save endpoint on the VCS.
    • 3-) script on CUCM to change the SIP header and standardization for more details you can check out the link below:
    • 4-) - write scripts CPL on the VCS.
    • According to above choice, the only way to solve this problem for us applies a CPL
    • as much as I did research it is also not possible to change the source with the CPL on VCS - E. is it good?

anyone can share me a CPL configuration for this manipulation? What I would do is this show get [email protected] / * / instead of [email protected] / * / address.

    [email protected]/ * / > [email protected] / * /

    our topology is device SX > CUCM > VCS - C > VCS-E > Internet

    VCS version is X8.7.1

I would send me a CPL config for it.

    Thanks in advance

  • How to check the device current outgoing phone is phone PBX?

  • Where can I find documentation on how to get the VCS - C and VCS-E to Exchange presence information

I turned presence on my VCS - C and VCS-E, but depending on whether I am VPNed or not, I don't see the State of the presence of my side of the firewall.

I checked for x7.1 Administrator's guide, I looked in the guide of authentication devices, and I'm at a bit of a loss.

Is what I'm trying to do as possible, and if so, what do I have to do to make this work?

    I have a pretty simple setup - that works very well, could give you some ideas;

    Two VCS - Independent C (soon to be clustered) and a VCS-E;

all internal clients of the JabberVideo register with a VCS - C, and when external registers with the VCS-E (all of my users of Singapore recorded with the VCS-E).

Authentication is directly with AD and is made on the a WHAT VCS - C regardless of the user is registered with the VCS - C or the VCS-E.

PUA and presence disabled on VCS-E and activated on the VCS - C, which is used as SIP registrar.

    Authentication on VCS - e:

    Default subfield "do not check".

    Default zone "do not check".

Traversal server box "do not check".

    Authentication on VCS - C:

    Default subfield "audit powers.

    MOVI area 'audit powers.

Point final SIP registration box "treat as authenticated.

    Course customer area 'audit powers.

Authentication works well, the users cannot sign up for the VCS-E with the wrong password or user name, and presence works well too - both inside and outside.

  • Placing the VCS-E Starter Pack outside a firewall

I have what I want, it's a quick question. My client has not bought the DNI option for their VCS Starter Pack. So that means I have to assign a public IP address. In addition, the way that their firewall is set up I have to consider putting the VCS outside the firewall. Therefore, in the wild as they say. I read solutions where the VCS-E (and I guess the Starter Pack follows suit) is essentially a safety device.

I wonder if people have done this before and if anyone had any ideas on how secure (or insecure) prospective configuration is?

    -Bill

    Hi William!

Nice to see you here again, how are you?

I wouldn't recommend that. In addition, either get the DNI put it in a DMZ with a private ip address

or simply in a DMZ with a public ip address, which works very well also.

Even if you so not a real DMZ as long as you have access to the router, you might

being able only allow traffic to the ports required by an access list.

In particular, management should be blocked here, there may still be bugs in the different

components (such as the ssh server, web-server,...) or the password is hacked,...

then why keep it open to the public.

This is a list of open ports on a starter by default quite Pack vcs:

I wonder why we a VCS nonclustered needs some of these listening services on the ethernet interface (beam, empd, racon,...), but yes, this is one more reason why I don't keep without a firewall :-)

A way of conscience highly not taken in charge and not reboot and upgrade can also be

Connect to the zone as root and use the iptables linux unerlaying to allow the necessary

and block off everything else. (iptables is a firewall tool for most versions of linux)

You will find a lot of resources on internet, it was just a first success through google:

    http://edgis-security.org/operating-system-and-software/iptables-tutorial-series-01-Introduction/

Guess something more userfirendly come in X7.2, Andreas post it here:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3653700#3653700

Another thing worth noting is that for the upcoming X7.2 release for the  VCS, we are looking at including a basic built-in firewall on the VCS  itself which could also be used to only permit access to certain  services from certain hosts or subnets. It is however not currently  certain whether or not this feature will actually make it into X7.2, so  you will just have to wait and see.

But even in this case I recommend to use a firewall, right from the start.

  • Limit the number of calls between areas of VCS/subareas?

    Hello

I wonder if there is a way that we can limit the number of calls between two subareas, areas or VCS.

    The script as below:

    VCS-E (owncompany) < -----neighbor/traversal/dns="" zone="" over="" internet------=""> > VCS-E (partner)

My intention is to limit to 5 video calls from VCS-E (partner) so that the 6th call (dial in endpoint) will be blocked.

I know that we can control the total bandwidth between areas using links & pipes but that does not stop the remote end to lower their rate of recall and deal with several endpoints.

    Thank you.

    Hi Hafiz,

have you tried to disable the 'downspeed by mode of appeal"in a configuration of Bandwidth?

try disabling the "downspeed" by call OFF mode under VCS config-. > bandwidth--> configuration.

This will not allow the calls get the downspeed but it must block because of insufficient bandwidth.

    Thank you

  • Accommodation of the presence on the next information control VCS

    Hello!
    Could you please help me?

What should I do to host the presence information of my domain name SIP not on local control of VCS, where points registered endpoint, but VCS control located in the nearby area?

Disable the server of presence on your own VCS control while allowing the presence on VCS neighbored control server.

Also make sure that your local SIP domain exists also on VCS neighbored control and that the rules of research between these VCS allow presence SIP traffic pass freely between the two (AnyAlias for example).

It seems that VCS tries to reach something but does not give up because the maximum number of attempts has been reached.  I do not see this e-mail when calls are making even though the firewall as they should.  When the calls start to fail, I see that the foregoing repeated many times.

The VCSes are the two X7.2.2.  The call goes through an IPGW running 2.0 (1.7), which is registered in the VCS-E.  The call came from the public internet, go to an endpoint inside the firewall of the memorandum of appeal through the firewall is H.323.

    My questions are;

-This sequence of message would cause the fault of calls?

-If it's just a symptom of the real problem, which is HTTPFSM and what host name empty could he try to solve?

-The first entry shows 'W rejecting the attempt '.  'W' would be the firewall?

-There is an external Manager configured on theVCS-E, which is not reachable from the public internet.  Could the attempts by the VCS-E to reach the external trigger managing a denial of firewall that prevents to carry out calls?

    - and finally, the e-mail above sounds familiar to anyone?

    Thank you!

Don't remember seeing these messages in my logs, but now grep-ing on the current

files that I didn't want her either.

HTTP resembles something of web service, maybe your VCS try to connect to your TMS and

fails, some political or some access to the api internal, commissioning, receiver feedback...

As you already outside Director is defined but not ok, I think that's the reason.

Also fits as this sends feedback to the Manager when the call is made, which would be the case

    If it failed.

Verify that you do not have an ALG in the path, that can also be at the remote site.

VCS has a quite modern h323 signaling, what works in other directions may therefore be broken

When a vcs is in the picture.

How is the call flow? The remote site connects directly to the IPGW?

We had the feeling that everything works well ask smoother people to dial the address IP of VCS

and then use the alias of relief VCS to point to an alias on the IPGW ;-)

Please remember useful frequency responses and identify useful or correct answers.
