  Please could you put more details in your notebook, for example what RAM you have installed, and also if the XP Pro is the version OEM Toshiba or authentic Microsoft.

• Satellite L500 - very slow operation

  A Satellite L500 running Windows 7. It has suddenly slowed down, almost at a standstill. If I expose the computer for a few hours just on desktop it goes into mode "Eve" as expected.

  Please try to remove this app from the system and having it roll back OS asks to restore a few days using System. I hope that preinstalled OS will run again OK.

  Only you can decide what software is not important to you
  Toshiba has preinstalled many different programs. Most of these applications control certain features of the laptop as keys FN, controls, etc., but of course, this software needs of material resources and slow down the start-up procedure.

  In MSCONFIG, you can disable some processes and could test how the laptop would be without these applications.

  In addition, I recommend to update or remove the Tempro tool, which has been pre-installed by Toshiba!

  The Avira scanner is great. I m using both and it s free.

  You can schedule this script from the OS to run before the time you decided to submit simultaneous program. However, according to me, that is not a realistic solution, please consider stopping and bringing some CM upwards each time that you must run the cmclean.sql script.

  for three years, I never had any problem with my Mac. Now, all of a sudden, from one moment to the other, it runs very slowly.   I wish I had an answer, but all I can do is rather echo to your problem. I have a 19 mid-2007 "iMac, contributed to the maximum with the RAM, 1 t disc hard less that half full, who did the same thing - he has worked with El Capitan until I updated to the latest version. Once that has happened the machine became so slow as to be unusable. It would take ten or twelve minutes to record a mouse click. When I restarted the machine, it took 32 HOURS to start (Fortunately it isn't my main Mac production).

  Last week, I tried all the remedies of common sense - by removing unused software, keeping an eye on the activity monitor (there is nothing fancy here), etc. Finally, I did all the stuff start, PRAM, run utilities disk (no noted problem) and even tried to reinstall El Capitan to a bootable USB I did with my first Mac, the reinstall, but seemed not 'take' somehow - he wanted to repeat the installation procedure again and again.

  I use the little Mac for Internet, e-mail and (as Karlis2) deal with some of the oldest pictures in my files - I'm sure that I have pictures on Time Machine, so I'm not too worried about it, but this was the first Mac way back in the day, I bought with my money and I'm a little sentimental on and would like to resurrect if possible... I wonder if there is a way to restore the operating system to an earlier version and it would make a difference?

TB collects e-mails, wrote e-mails to a normal speed without problem. Control S, V, P, etc work but slow... what to do?

  To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with disabled modules (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click "restart with disabled modules. If Thunderbird works as usual, there is an add-on or theme interfere with normal operations. You will need to reactivate the modules one at a time until you locate the offender.
  • Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

  If the safe mode for the operating system to resolve the problem, there are other software on your computer that is causing problems. The possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as updates of the program.
