Very unstable with ESXi 5.5u2 stock - custom iso R610 would help?

Decided to upgrade our u2 ESXi 5.1 to 5.5 on our R610:s to get the new hotness and made it the same way I have installed along - just caught the last ISO from Vmware. It worked very well with 4.1 and 5.1; systems have been solid as a rock for years.

U2 5.5 however has serious problems iSCSI and the stroke of a few machines, drop the iSCSI connections, or both, this is ate one of my virtual machines. Fortunately for backups.

I didn't while grabbing ISO custom here, but these extremely boring stability problems it solves? I've tried both using iSCSI (how it should be set up initially with 4.1 to get frames) and now with built in hardware Broadcom NIC, but the moment where you put strong pressure on the iSCSI storage begins to fall and causing the catastrophic with the cluster-wide problems.

In the process of cleaning, I applied the latest firmware patches, BIOS is now 6.4.0, I think it is.

Kimmoj,

The probable cause is due to the version of VMware. The Dell custom ESXi version uses specific drivers for Dell servers, where the VMware version does not. It is therefore much more likely that the version of Dell will run more smooth and more stable, the drivers being designed. You can find version 5.5 U2 here.

Let me know if it helps.

    Dear all,

I could find the free license only for Esxi 6.0 standard image customized Cisco.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the community,

Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

  • To access ESXi 4 Update 1 custom server from dell MD3000i iSCSI SAN

    Hello

I'm brand new on VMware ESX/ESXi products and for the most part, no.  I configured several machines virtual with server 1 and 2.  I am trying to connect a virtual ESXi 4 server in a SAN and starts to become very confused about what I can or not do.  I hope that someone here can break it down for me because I couldn't find the answer to my specific questions.

    Here's how I'm Setup:

I have a Dell PowerEdge R710 with ESXi 4 Update 1 'Custom Dell' (whatever that means) is installed.

I have a Dell MD3000i SAN using iSCSI with a pre-configured dedicated virtual disk.

I would like to create virtual machines on virtual disk said.

I think that ESXi 4 is completely free.

It seems that to manage the server, I need to use 1 of the 2 products.  The Vsphere client or web application of VMware Go.

    If I use Vsphere:

I have the ability to add a type of storage through the user interface.

I'm on a 60-day trial. I thought that it was free.

If I configure my iSCSI via Vsphere and then the eval expires... what happens?  All jump on me and then I have to purchase a license to get it back?

    If I use VMware go:

It seems I don't really have any options to do any kind of configuration iSCSI in VMware Go.  I do?

I also have a XenServer that is configured in this way and it's all free. I wanted to try the bare metal of VMware solution, but now I wonder if I'll have to go back to Xen.

Can someone please relieve me of my confusion until I have to pull the plug on this experience.  Maybe direct me to the proper documentation on how to configure what I need with what I have at the cost free-is possible.

Thanks a lot for your comments and have a wonderful weekend!

I'd go by QuickStart Webcast and Webcast ESXi Webstart to help get a better understanding.

  • Frustrations with Adobe Stock 'Customer Service '.

This position was created in desperation as really seems them to be no other outlet for support when dealing with Adobe Stock. I am located in Melbourne, Australia, and the only way to contact the Helpdesk of Adobe Stock is done by the service "Instant Messaging".  However, to this day, I spent more than 6 hours repeat myself and my questions to the customer that a) don't understand not what I speak not b) only provide scripted responses to my questions and c) bounce around me, to other agents of customer service that ends up telling me that my problem was refitted There is nothing else they can help me with and I'll be in touch by email within 2-3 business days. Then, when I received an email a week later it has nothing to do with my question and the process begins again.

Help, please. I've been a customer of Adobe software products for more than 10 years and I'm not like if it comes to the level of support that I receive from your company.

Here is a brief history of my problem. If anyone could be of additional help for me it would be greatly appreciated.

-J' have subscribed to the Club Photo Dollar prior to its acquisition by Adobe and really the service provided.

-When my subscription with DPC finished I took 'your first month for free' offer with Adobe Stock because it seemed to be the next offers the best for stock photography.

-In my first month of using this service, I used 10 images available in my subscription and was looking to buy more. Previously using the DPC service you offer you an amount of credits you must add to your subscription (once you monthly allowance was exhausted) and purchase which was fantastic. I use a lot of stock photography, so it is a common place for me. However, after using all the images that is available to me through my subscription to Adobe stock I couldn't add the extra credit in my account and buy only the images one by one. Which would be perfect, but since I am in Australia, I would be charged fees for international transaction for each image purchased on my allowance which for me is crazy and my interaction with the Adobe Stock customer service began...

-After taking a lot of time to explain my situation to the service representative and still not get anywhere as it seemed like adding extra credit was not a feature that Adobe Stock has the offer, I learned if I had already subscribed to CPD, I was entitled to a reduced monthly subscription. As I had signed Adobe stock with another email address of my CPD membership this offer has been applied to my account.

-J' expressly asked, if I was able to transfer my account using the same login as my former DPC subscription to take advantage of this offer and we told him 'NO,' I have to create a new account based on the same login as the old DPC members and cancel my existing subscription. I also specifically asked that I stay a client Adobe stock I undertake any kind of cancellation fees? I was told 'NO '.

-So, I did as suggested, created a new Adobe Stock subscription based on the same as my old and weak DPC membership login and behold, I could enjoy a lower monthly subscription. fantastic news.

    - Then I cancelled the original Adobe Stock composition, I created without problem until I noticed that I had been charged of membership $180 cancellation fee!

-I just spent an hour on the time trying to talk to someone because, they told me I should not this tax and that, due to the fact, I continue my subscription with Adobe Stock just under a different user name I should not be held responsible for the cancellation, but had absolutely no chance. No one understands what I'm trying to say, it takes up to 10 minutes in some cases has received a response through the 'cat' portal and then finally my question is 'up' and I you will receive an email within 2-3 business days. This has happened twice and after a week I received correspondence from Adobe Stock but email only said: ' Chris, we would like to inform you that you will be able to buy at THE $ 59.99 / month "has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

First of all, I don't think I should have to pay the cancellation fee that I am in fact pursuing a membership with Adobe Stock and was informed that I woudnt be charged. If for any reason any that should be charged, I would prefer that my subscription was restored and I saw the contract of the year and have actually 2 accounts rather than having to pay $180 for nothing!

If someone, anyone... could you please help me with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Being able to talk to someone who has made a greater understanding of the services associated with this feature of Adobe products would be amazing. I realize that it may not be the fault of representatives for customer service but outsourcing Adobe Stock that their call centre in India is really not useful that just does not seem to have any understanding of ther product other than scripted information they have before them. I'd be happy to wait as long as it took just to talk to someone who had a real understanding of my issue and eventually get some sort of resolution.

Help, please. It comes from really should be a very simple thing to fix.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I'm sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience with our support team and focus on the problems you mention.

I will also refund cancellation fees.

  • Copy the files of ESXi 4 to ESXi 4 guests VERY SLOW with "FastSCP 3"?

    Hello

I have two HP ML350 G5 servers with ESXi 4. now, I want to move some virtual machines in one ESXi host to another. This is a small test system.

I found this program Veeam FastSCP which is a faster tool to copy files between ESXi servers, so I installed this tool on my client workstation and have begun to copy yesterday.

But the transfer rate is of 14 MB/s, it will take & gt; 26 hours to complete my project (1 TB of data transfer). I am not satisfied with this speed, because ESXi, my client station servers and switch between the two network cards 1 GB...

This speed is normal? Or have you of the best ways to do so?

Firestartah is correct, that I just wanted to confirm and add direct links:

Yes, it's transfer speed of 'normal' file for ESXi 3.5 or 4.0:

    Planned for FastSCP 3.0 speed

File transfers are a few times faster with 'fat' ESX, but the latest versio of ESX 4.0 has a kind of service console disk read limitation described here:

  • WIFI connection is very unstable

OK, I recently started having problems with my wireless network. Before we continue, I want to clarify that the laptop fell off my table of landing itself directly on the wireless network card and of course, it's while my question has been raised. But, I hope this isn't the case and that no internal damage was done because it fell away and he doesn't seem to be serious damage.

My connection is very unstable. At that time I will have spent typing this I will have lost once. Once every 2-5 minutes. When I lose my connection I just remove and reinsert the card. It usually works. Sometimes, I get a message asking me to install new hardware, the PCMCIA MTD-0002. And other times it just re - acquired my IP address and run a little longer.

I looked around the internet a little and found many with the same question. Zero with an answer that worked for me, then again with a Toshiba laptop. I hope that you the pros here can help me out. The first thing I tried was to get a new driver. But in my device manager it says that they are all up to date and I have not had any other experience download from sites, and I don't want to get hurt.

I'm running on a Toshiba Satellite, I believe that it is a type R, further I don't really know. He's OLD. If there is more you need to know that I will answer quickly.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Like you said that the issue was raised after the laptop is dropped.
In my opinion it's a reason from time to time interrupts him. Maybe some connections are loose.

The external PCMCIA card is recognized and don t think that this could be a software or driver problem.
But to be sure, you can contact the support of the manufacturing of PCMCIA card.

In any case, I think the problem is related to the fall and the technician must check the slot.

Just had my Equium A100 replaced with a satellite pro A200 and for some reason that I am fighting to get it connected to my wireless network. I had the old laptop connected properly and used channel 11 on my WAP.

Now, after trying to connect my new laptop I find the connection very unstable. I tried different channel numbers, and these worked mainly the lower numbers, but are proved to be slow and unreliable. I have other laptops that are very well using my WAP to channel 11.

    Hello forum,.

I bought a relatively new desktop for my studies of cisco computer. I am completely new to exsi and took notes on the net to install esxi.

    Toshiba 1 TB HARD drive

I tried to format the two hard drive using windows 7 and tried to install Esxi 6, but the two remains undetected.

I tried 5.5 as well but the result is the same.

    Help, please.

    Thank you.

ESXi is built for server hardware, he may simply not support your disk controller. Since it is a lab environment, you can check if VMware experience before: how to make your unsupported work SATA AHCI Controller with ESXi 5.5 and 6.0 helps build a custom installation image that runs on your hardware.

  • High latency LDAP with ESXi 6

We have Gen9 HP with Emulex 10 GB (driver v10.5.121.7) runs the last 6.0 ESXi and high latency experience above 50ms to 1.5 seconds with LDAP queries between continuous Windows or VM to DC.   However, to move the domain controller to an ESXi 5.5/6.0 with the latency of the network 1 Gb is down to below 50ms.  If you ping just two servers, ping response is < 1ms.

  • Having problems with ESXi/vSphere Client Network

First of all, I apologize if it's thread is in the wrong section.

I recently installed ESXi v6.0.0 in VMware Workstation 12.0 trying to familiarize myself with ESXi as I recently graduated and I forgot most of what I learned from the class I took.

Then, ESXi installed smoothly and was very painless.

Then, I tried to create a virtual machine. It's when things are messy. I can't understand why, but I don't get any network connectivity after obtaining a DHCP address to all within the virtual machine, in addition to being able to ping the host ESXi itself.

First of all, networking is like so:

    10.10.10.250 ESXi host

I can't really understand what the problem is, or what is happening. Yes, I could set up an internal network of the virtual machine with a firewall and what not, but I was hoping that there would already network connectivity while I wouldn't do. Also, is it possible to make attachments online?

    Thanks for all their help

  • 13 elements Organizer very unstable and high RAM request, items 13.1 Organizer very unstable and high RAM.

After the upgrade of Windows 8.1 for windows 10 program was very unstable, renewing the driver for the card of 2 GB Nvidia Geforce GT 630 m of 355.62 to 355.82 Organizer is always very unstable during optimization of the catalog. Further wonders RAM WINS 137 MB a few minutes after the start to the top of the program up to 11 000 MB just by doing nothing! Sometimes it becomes even higher, but sometimes both demand falls to 1 400 MB. Still 10 times higher after commissioning. Remember that the program is not used, just slowed down.

After the update of the elements of 13.0 13.1 this was only possible by cancelling the update file.

machine: dv7 HP Envy with 16 GB of RAM and core i7 processor

    OS: Windows 10

We have about 100 000 images in the Organizer

    How to solve this problem?

You mention optimizing the catalog: This means that the background task is underway. There are also other tasks in the background that can run even if you think that software is inactive:

    -the search for missing files

    -recognition of persons

    -service of records watchted

    ...

There is nothing wrong with the apparently erratic use of RAM.

Please give more details on the "failover": made the computer crash, freeze?

    Operations are in this case?

Your catalog is big enough, but that does not account for "failover".

You use the recognition of people? A few similar posts, it seems this may explain the failover for the very large catalogs (many small files. XML are stored in the catalog and the database file).

Optimization means a reduction in fast enough the followed the check of database file size and the re-creation of thumbnails for your 100,000 files photo: who may require more than one hour. If the process responds to a problem or a corrupt file, the program freezes to a percentage of the task...

  • ESXi Custom ISOs - am I missing something?

    Gents,

Generally when creating an environment, I check just to see if the hardware is on the HCL. However, I noticed that Dell etc. have their own custom ISOs.

I was wondering just--it is interesting to use these instead of the standard image directly from VMware?

    1. what you give images custom related to the standard - for example when you use HP host based blade?

    2. There are disadvantages to the use of images - for example what it means I have to wait for the vendor to include security updates? If I drive an update to guests with an image personalized with Update Manager it break build it?

Also - I noticed that HP have a bundle in offline mode - if I have this applies only to a standard image that will bring in line with the custom image?

    See you soon

What give you the custom images in the standard - for example when you use HP host based blade?

Custom images are those images that are created by the hardware vendors in which they not only ESXi drivers but also other drivers updated who are provided by the seller. They also include a third CIM and other drivers updated (certified by VMware) in the image. This way customers who own the equipment by dell, HP etc. don't have to worry about the update of the pilots after they installed ESXi.

If you do not use these custom images you can then run into problems such as devices not recognized by ESXi and other things. I do not see drawbacks. You can also create your own custom image by injecting the necessary drivers in ESXi image using many tools.

So, it is advisable to use the custom harness. But yes, you will have to wait as the seller in the output image. It's a bad thing about it.

  • How to export/import a virtual machine with ESXi 5

I use the free version of ESXi 5 and have created a virtual machine that is configured with the software for our project. I would like to share this virtual machine with other members of the team, some of whom are in other places and have slow network connections.  I want to pack the VM in a reasonable size file or a set of files I could ftp (or put it on DVD for people in areas of slow network) that they could then import into their ESXi hosts. The virtual machine has a 60 GB drive that is implemented by using the option 'thin', so it contains only 6 or 7 GB of real data right now.  Is it possible to export the image to a file or set of files that can be imported to another people ESXI host?  Before when I used VM Player we could do this by upgrading backup files in virtual machine directory and copy them to the new machine. With the ESXi data store, I don't know that something like this can be done.  I used vCenter Converter to convert to ESXi Infrastructure VM in VM Player format (and vice versa), but it is extremely slow. I think I might point the Source to my ESXi host and the Destination to a co-workers ESXi host and run a 'conversion' to transfer the files, but I think it would be very slow and impractical for some people to 'slow-network '.  I tried with vSphere Client navigation data store and I see the download options, but when I tried to download a VM directory it just hung.  I enabled ssh on my server ESXi and I found the store of data under/vmfs/volumes and when I look in the folder that contains my VM, there a file myvmname - flat hard which is 60 GB in size, so if I tar the contents of this folder to move elsewhere it will be huge.

Can anyone suggest a solution?  The licensed version of ESXi would offer better alternatives?

You can watch export OVF available in the Client vSphere for this function.

  • LSI-9210-8i (LSI SAS 2008) written very unstable and purple screen

    Hello!

I have a serious stability problem and I am not able to understand how to solve.

I have an IBM ServerRaid M1015 (oem of a LSI-9220-8i version) I reflashed with the ISIS software (9210-8i IT mode, but see below for details).

When I started with ESXi and create a virtual machine with a big virtual disk (90% of the physical disk), the creative process hangs after some time (about 10% for a vdisk 145GB on a 160 GB pdisk)

and I get a lot of 'stuff' in the file vmkernel.log (see attachment logfiles). Finally, ESXi will be purple screen and die.

I seem to be able to make the small diskaccesses with no problems.

To test if it's a hardware problem, I have:

    • I did a new install of Debian - 6.0, and there everything works without problem.
    • I only did a new install of Solaris-11u1 no problem here too: the controller was FAST!
    • I tried to move the controller to another host (HP DL120 G6), same problem here.
    • I even tried to buy another controller (which worked perfectly with the included IBM software but after that I have reflashed with the LSI-9210-8i IT firmware, that he was not only the first)
    • I tried a cable cutter instead of HP backplane to be sure it wasn't the bottom of basket that gave me problems.
    • I tried to move the map to another location PCIe cable 8087 to the other port on the controller card.

    The system configuration:

I have attached the log files from the system. Is anyone able to point me in a direction for a fix? Or any who have used IBM M1015 (in mode IT) with VMware - 5.1

This starts to become just a little frustrating! :-)

I cannot conclude 100% but it seems to be a driver problem ESXi or the combination of firmware and driver.

    Best regards

    Hello!

It seems that VMware ESXi 5.5 have a conflict pilot with different controllers in the same machine at the same time.

I have been using the LSI AND the controller on the motherboard for extra drive supported.

I have why it worked in the Debian and Solaris with disks on both controllers, but not in ESXi. I tried to level the firmware and drivers of LSI, but he will get unstable on me when using different types of controllers at the same time.

    Best regards
