vFRC shows no free space after restart of the vcenter
I have a new cluster I implement vFRC on. The cluster runs great and the vFRC which seems to work without problems. Unfortunately to restart my VCenter the hosts in the cluster always show all they have vFRC installed, but show 0 MB of available space. The only way to clear it is to place the host in maintenance mode.
It is of course difficult since it happens to all hosts on the cluster at the same time. Forces me to each stop all the VM on a host or disable vFRC on the virtual machine to a host to get into maintenance mode.
Anyone know if this is expected behavior?
or if there is problem kb/known, and I'm not finding?
or a good direction to go to diagnose why this is happening?
I am running
6 3018524 on windows 2012R2 vCenter fully patched
ESXi 6 u1 3380124
Reference Dell servers R730
vFRC on intel P3600 (NVMe interface)
How your vCenter is allowed? EntPlus?
What type of shared storage do you have? What is a San with an option of Flash?
I've been looking for KB and found this one. Have you seen this one yet? http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=2136867
Otherwise, I found the list of best practices in the guide of vFRC 5.5, which remain valid for the v6, and I would check that these are achieved before continue.

Original title: received message 'disk full '. I can see 933 GB of free space when I display the properties of the operating system (c :)) help, please!
New computer - Dell Inc. 05DN3X (CPU 1), MS Windows 7 64-bit SP1, processor Intel Core i7 930 at 2.80 GHz, 6.00 GB Triple - Channel DDR3 @ 666 MHz, 977 GB Western Digital WDC WD10EALX - 759BA1 (SATA).
Problem:Downloaded a program (32 MB) (SRIM 2011.exe) commonly used to work and tried to extract it to a new folder on the OS (C :) - received message 'disk full'.) I can see 933GB free space when I discover the properties of the operating system (c) - Quota is turned off.Have used the program mentioned above (SRIM.exe) several times before using different operating systems XP to work without problem...Help, please!THXGiven that this was written in 2011, I'm sure you understood something at this stage. However, the post also has much a views, so I think it might be a persistent problem, so I'll post my solution:
When I copied the file SRIM - 20xx.e in a folder of SRIM-20xx under Program Files, I had a "Disk full" error when trying to extract the files, even though I had a lot of space on my hard drive and without limits. After a bit of messing around, I like the solution is to move the SRIM-20xx folder on the desktop, and then unpack it. After extraction, which leaves you with a lot of seemingly useless files, double-click CONFIGURATION and the installation will begin appropriate. Installation will create a file under Program Files, there will be no need to make things happen later, simply remove the meantime extract the folder to your desktop computer.

vSphere not showing do not free space after deletion
Hello
We have ESXi clocked at our remote data center. I recently needed to free up space on the data store, so I used the tool FastSCP remove one VM folders, as I could find no way to do it using vSphere. It seems only to remove no problem, and the deleted folder no longer displays in the view FastSCP or through the vSphere client. But in vSphere, the figure of the free space has not changed. Are there any other required step that I neglected to find that space?
Thank you

Reclaim free space after deleting Partition Bootcamp
After installing a new SSD and gives back to the top of time Machine, I deleted my Bootcamp partition on my MBP using Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp partition, although MS-FAT was no longer bootable after recovery, and I thought again and use Winclone to retrieve my Windows backup. The result of delete Boot Camp seems good:
XXXs-MacBook-Pro: ~ the name list $ diskutil
/ dev/disk0 (internal, physical):
#: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme * 960,2 GB disk0
1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB
2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 959,3 GB disk0s2
3: disk0s3 Apple_Boot Recovery 650.0 MB HD
But when I look at the storage, I find that I went 113 GB on my hard drive MacIntosh partition (or says my Time prior Machine backup) to more than 300 GB. The Boot Camp 118.5 GB partition is gone, but the 'Other' segment seems to have increased to 284 GB.
I see a lot of solutions online for free space recovery after the removal of Boot Camp, but they do not seem to apply to me. Many are for removals of Boot Camp failed using disk utility. Several involve CS, but I have no basic storage. I tried to boot into recovery and repair. I tried several reboots to clear space.
Any ideas, please?
Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands...
diskutil list
Cs diskutil list
sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0
Please enter your password when you are prompted by the command 'sudo '.

down free space after doing a windows update!
OK, I don't know what's going on, but after I installed the updates of windows on my computer, I lost 3 GB of space free all together! (at first it was only 1 to 2 GB, and I brushed it off because I think it's the space updates have taken place, but then decreased 1 GB of itself!)
I'm not using the inet (well, except for the now, since my question) and I was running just a scan of Prevx (since SpiritX recommends so in its messages)
everyone knows what is happening?
[1].. .but it was produced AFTER I did the update. Why this is starting to happen only AFTER the update
[2].. . How do delete you old shadow copies and keep the most recent 1?
A1. The SP2 installer alone can be as large as 577,4 MB.
A2. You will find support for this in the forum of the Performance & maintenance:

HP Stream 13: Compensation of free space after w10 upgraded
I got upgraded from W8.1 to W10 using Windows Update.
Now, I would welcome advice on what I can now delete to create more free space. I find myself with 6.16 GB of free space on my C drive after installing my programs required. I have a SDHC card installed for the registration of documents, etc..
I looked at the disk cleanup and see that within the system of files I have two as candidates for deletion but don't want not just to clean up these files without thinking it through.
They are:
1. the previous Windows Installations 19.2 GB file size
2 size 1.03 GB Windows Setup files
No one knows for sure if I'm sure to clean up these two files?
Thank you
L
Thanks WAWood for your last response. I'll stick with my recovery media to a USB for W10 flash drive.
just one more question. Do you know if 3 or 4 GB C drive space is sufficient to store the operating system Windows 10. The reason why I have ask if I delete files from previous Windows by cleaning disk that I want to do it looks like I'll have about 26GB my book of 32GB of space?
Thank you
lFINALLY I BIT THE BULLET AND DELETED THE PREVIOUS LISTED AS 19.2 GB WINDOWS INSTALLATION. SURPRISE, SURPRISE ALL WENT AHEAD, BUT ONLY, I HAVE ACQUIRED AN ADDITIONAL 3 GB. I'M NOW 10 GB OF FREE DISK SPACE C MY COMPUTER WHICH IS OK, BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER SUPPOSED 16 GB?
ALLS WELL THAT ENDS WELL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST >

No free space after deleting files - trouble with optimized storage?
Hi, I have macos Sierra and I deleted many files to my main drive and also to my external hard drive (both to the Mac OS Extended format) in preparation for the boot camp. I also emptied the Recycle Bin, although there is much less space on the two disks that it should be and the majority of the space is obviously indicated under "purgeable". I thought it would not be a problem, because I assumed that the space would be released, if I move all of the files there and if I need for the new Windows partition. However, this assumption was false. I can't simply use storage that I released. I can't move there all the files and I can't create the partition from free space. What can I do with it? It's pretty frustrating... Thanks for the help!
You must use the Bootcamp Assistant to create the Bootcamp partition.
Please provide details on the total space and free space on your internal drive. Post screenshots of what you see in system-> storage information. In addition, select the drive in Finder-I press control and post a screenshot of the window read the information.

LUN showing sufficient free space but VMware showing low on space!
Hello
I have a very strange problem on a loan SAN, I don't have on hand the model number for the moment, but it's a PS6000 with NL - SAS drives.
When I look in VMware to the DRLUN01 it seems that there is only 149 GB of free. When I look at the same SAN logical unit number, he says he has 985 GB free!
The SAN is running the latest firmware and is connected to a server ESXi 4.1.0 through iSCSI. The LUN contains replicas of Veeam my production systems. When I talked to Veeam they notify that they have seen this twice but only know that Dell has solved the problems.
As I'm not offered no support, even if I'm likely to spend August 20 k with Dell and have the Support Pro on my production SAN, I was wondering if someone can get ideas?
Thank you
Greg
If you have allocated (from the point of view ESX) all your space so it is a different matter. ESX needs free space to work properly. Temp files, the swapfiles, newspapers and snapshots of VMware. For example, I usually create volumes of 600GO (in general), I leave at least 100 GB free. If that gets close, I create a new data store and move the virtual machines or simply create the new on the new data store.
Re: ESX knows. Basics of basic/SCSI disk. At the level of the storage disk, there is no "files" there are only blocks. Each block has an address, called a LBA, logical block addressing. Each volume (disk) reports so that its ability to the controller.
The volume (disk) starts at LBA 0 and goes to the LBA
The ESX server keeps a table of total blocks and when you make an entry, it selects and for use LBA. LBA (and data) are written in the volume (disk). The table knows also how each volume is great, so he knows how many blocks there. ESX server sends that data with the LBA ESX choose to use, at the same time, it will update the allocation table which is on this VMFS volume... The table can then locate LBA (X) and write the data here.
So, since you gave us (X) MB, we can infer that from the free space of the total volume. Works fine as long as you never delete anything. A removal of ESX is a WRITING on the VMFS allocation table. We record this writing as others. There is nothing to say the array, AMLA (X) is no longer used, so return to the Member's area. This is where the new command comes in cancel the MAPPING. Now the server can send a command that tells unallocate (free) LBA (X). Use space will go down and free space on this member will go up.
Re: Re-use of Array. So since it's the ESX Server that determines the LBA to use, it will be re - write down as needed.
Re: Free to the declaration space. # Important indicator is what the operating system said, not the table. Finally when SCSI UNMAP is indeed those two will be much closer together. If a VMFS volume goes to 100%, you're in trouble. ESX will no longer be a LBA list to choose from. Entries will fail and VMs will go down.
The table in use is assistance to make sure that you attach no more space than you did.
That is if you had a table of 2 TB, you can create a volume thin MUCH bigger than available. But up to what you actually write more than 2 TB, of a data value, you're fine. If you do, then the table runs out of space and volumes to disconnect and all virtual machines would stop. This gauge to judge when to buy more storage.
If w/o UNMAP, finally the EQL GUI does NOT reflect the free space for a volume.
Bottom line, follow what ESX (or any server) said being used and free space on a volume.
Best?

After restart of the firmware upgrade
Hi, I need to update the firmware on my controllers PS6100 EqualLogic.
I found the instructions on how to do it and everything seems straight forward to do so via the GUI.
I noticed there is a necessary restart after the firmware has been applied. Does this mean I have to gracefully shutdown the virtual machines running on my SAN LUNS? My iSCSI connections will be closed/broken during the restart of the post firmware upgrade?
Thank you, Oliver.
Hello Oliver,.
In the same area download notes firmware and release is another PDF, entitled ' iSCSI initiator and optimize your SAN environment for high availability operating system considerations ", which includes some key parameters that will allow your computers virtual and servers through the failover time. It is important that not only the Firmware update, but in the case of an unexpected failure due to a failure of CM.
More if you use VMware ESXi, there is a best practices PDF for that as well. In addition to better manage the failover, these changes have shown to improve performance as well.
The Tech report TR1091 is available here:
http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/Extras/m/white_papers/20434601/download
Changes for Windows and the knots of ESXi virtual machines will require a reboot to take effect.
What version of firmware you are at, and what version you are migrating towards?
Other things I always propose updates is to ensure that both controllers are plugged in your switch and in the VLAN correct. Since assets CM are failed over to the passive, support gets much advertising is unable to access the storage after firmware update. Or ports of the day before were not in the VLAN correct, or individuals with disabilities, etc...
It is for these reasons that personally I prefer to do the updates via the serial port CLI. The process is more talkative, and if something should go wrong, you need the serial port of some sort. Since the installation and tested in advance is a huge time saver. Here, we use serial mux so that all array controllers are easily accessible.
Kind regards
Don

I tried various recovery tools to fix this and have come to terms with the loss of almost all of my files. However, my hard drive always think they are there and not free space. Any suggestions?
This looks like a factory restore was performed. How is a mystery. Is what kind of computer?
Y at - it by chance a C: file \Windows.old? If so, watch Windows.old\Users\%Username% for files. If this isn't the case - you can run chkdsk /f since you say disk space seems to be in use to see if it goes to the top of any other file system error. If nothing of other works and you are sure that there is space missing, I would try to look at the drive outside Windows (by a bootable OS or the connection to another computer) in which case a kit root to cache files, a thought which is quite a long shot.

I restarted the ESXI using classic Vsphere Client. Now, all virtual machines have disappeared. I tried to connect with Vsphere Client and workstation and the list is empty. I can't access the Vcenter server since it is a virtual machine that resides in the home.
The data store is a local disk. The data store is still there and the amount of disk space used is correct. I don't see the virtual machines in the inventory. I have re-installed ESXI 5.5, refreshed of store data and what not, there is nothing there. I am freaking out and don't know what to do.
EDIT: I am able to navigate the data store manually by creating the new virtual machine and select the existing virtual machine following this guide but I'm not sure what is the reason for which the files would be missing or corrupt
http://techhead.co/VMware-ESX-how-to-easily-recreate-a-missing-or-corrupt-vmx-file/
When you browse the data store you see the virtual machine and their records?
If you see the virtual computer files, you can open the folder, right click on the .vmx file and select Add to the inventory. who will get your VM in the inventory.
