Video card for first Pro CS5

I'm currently has the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285, Win7, 6 GB RAM and periodically get the crash program and the following error when you work with projects: driver problem detected OpenGL NVIDIA with the display driver.

I want to upgrade to a better video card and would like a professional recommendation. I want to stay in the range of $400-$500. Most of the recommendations that I looked on the forum seem obsolete compared to products currently listed on the NVIDIA site. Thank you.

What Bill meant that with only 6 GB of RAM (which is IMHO not enough RAM to run Premiere Pro CS5 + to the satisfaction of most of the people), the high-end cards would have been a total waste of money: performance of the RAM and the large pagefile expansion will severely limit any provision of performance for the high-end cards to the point where these cards would not be a faster than cards much cheaper. In other words, there is a mounting system as fast as its weakest link (in this case, the low amount of RAM and the generally slow hard disks that are used to Exchange files). Increase in the total amount of RAM 12 GB (or better yet, 24GO) would significantly reduce the need for such a huge, slow the pagefile access. Even the fastest SSD can't stay with the RAM in terms of throughput and latency for access.

And which causes this slow performance of your system is Windows increases generally the file exchange - and with only 6 GB of RAM and a relatively heavy such as Premiere Pro resources application, it would requre a rather huge swap file. By default, Windows sets the size of the initial pagefile roughly equal to the amount of RAM installed. What is happening here is that the difference between the amount of installed RAM, used by the first and the amount of space for swap file that requires the app is so great that it would have potentially forced the size of pagefile to mushroom in many more than 10 GB. This considerably reduces the performance of the total system, performance not only in first. Even if the size of the pagefile in Windows for an amount well above the RAM installed will not completely solve the problem of slow because no disc is nowhere nearly as fast as RAM. But if you do not use a swap file, especially with a low amount of RAM installed, the system will crash during a session of editing/rendering/encoding with "out of memory" errors.

  • Best graphics card for first Pro CC?

Hi all, I have a question about the graphics card, which is best for first Pro CC execution. I have a desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 and a Laptop with a GeForce GTX 960 M. Can someone give me advice, which card is best for first Pro CC. Thank you!

I don't think that there is any best card.

But I also have many of these same cards, one in my editing system in my personal system.  960 really works better.

  • Help! Dropout regular while importing video HDV on first Pro CS5.

Despite all the research, I am at a loss of responses with this one. Hoping that some may have a good suggestion for a solution.

I've been using my camcorder Sony HDV HVR - V1P for awhile through Premiere Pro CS4 and now have CS5. I had no previous issues with abandon, aside from the very occasional drop out, which I understand may be due to faulty tape, dirty heads etc.

I don't think it's my problem now, and I will explain why.

On my last batch of tape dropouts on the tapes occurs regularly, and I say well regularly. I could almost 58 seconds between each leg. This has happened more than 5 bands, some of them from different batches (used HDV Sony mini DV tapes). Now believe it may be a dirty head problem, or even a bad batch of ribbons, I picked up some of the bands. The surprising thing is the abandonment occurred yet, but they are in different places on the Strip. So if the abandonment took place on specific portions of the film before, he now abandoned in other sections and as regularly as before. Then of course, lack of camera? I don't believe it. I captured some of the images with a second camera where abandonment show also in the catches. I also tried to capture images using the second camera in case there was a problem of output or fault. School drop-outs has yet occurred. I also tried different tracks with the same result. I also captured the images on different hard drives on the PC, still no change. With all the attempts of the sequence was captured as mpeg clips as I always did before with success.

If I send this Hail Mary hoping someone may know the cause, or have a suggestion, why this happens all of a sudden. Nothing on my system has changed and am running 64-bit Windows and have a lot of speed and ram. I ran first pro, AfterEffects and photoshop similaneously progams and PC faces very well.

Appreciate any suggestions. Or any other ideas of what to try to locate the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

I would look at the processes running until I started watching material error.

  • An AMD Phenom is necessary for first Pro CS5?

    Hello

I read the system requirements of the CS5 for Windows and for me it looks like you can not work with first with an AMD Athlon:

"Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor (Intel Core™ 2 Duo or AMD Phenom® II recommended); Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Phenom II required for Adobe® first® Pro"(http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/systemreqs/)

I have a 64-bit ready CPU: AMD Athlon II X 2 250. It is not as fast as the Phenom processors.

Will be the creation of working with this processor? I ask this, because the first also requires 64-bit systems and so why shouldn't be a special processor?

    Thank you for responding.

Adobe minimum requirements are exactly that.

Minimum should more often be enough to install. If you want to use the minimum program is not enough. The proposed requirements may work for DV, but will be insufficient for HDV, AVCHD formats or similar.

  • Video card for first CC

    Hi all

I'll put up a new PC (4 k) videoediting platform, but it seems I'm lost between production.

    I think that,

    1. Quadro 5000 2.5 GB

    2 Quadro 6000 6 GB

    3 Quadro k4000 3 GB

    The rest of the features:

    2 x X 5690 3.4 GHz

32 GB of Ram ECC REG. 10600R 8 x 4 GB Triple Channel

Company of 480 GB SSD Samsung + support

    2 TB SATA hard drive

So I would like to know your opinion on the platform and which video card would work better.

    Thank you!

the quadro 6000 is not powerful enough. you need the m6000 quadro, which is the same chip as the ti-980 gtx.

10-bit is important for the accuracy of the colors, you would need a good monitor and keep what it calibrated. If this is not required for your projects, then 8-bit is fine. If you 10bits display, you can still get a ti gtx 980 and an another cheap quadro as the k620 or video on the map of blackmagic, aja, etc. to run the 10-bit display. If you get the quadro for display, you must configure the nvidia Control Panel to disable cuda on the quadro for each program.

  • Video card for first and Photoshop?

Hello.   I thought I was fairly well set up, when I got an nVidia GeForce GTX 470 for video editing.   Unfortunately life throws us curve balls...

I'm upgraded one of my current monitors to a much higher quality IPS monitor.   At the top of my list is the NEC PA271W-BK-SV.  To use it to its maximum, apparently you use the DisplayPort.   Of course the GTX 470 not having.   Then...

I'm looking for a good quality video card that has a support CUDA times and supported a DisplayPort that supports a full pipeline of 10 bits per color display.  At present, the only one I can find less than $1,000 is the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 .  Anyone has any experience with it?   Best options for a reasonalble price?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Dan.

  • Optimal hard drive configuration for first Pro CS5 and Pro Tools

I am in the process of upgrading a workstation is used mainly for multi-track audio recording in Pro Tools using the Adobe CS5 products following production of promotional videos in HDV (AVCHD for the web) as well as printouts of documents of marketing for groups and musicians: Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Soundbooth.

Since Premiere Pro is probably the most demanding application in the group, I studied the hardware configurations suggested on this forum with great interest, in particular the suggestions of PREJUDICE (including its generic guidance for the installation disc) to determine what drives in order to buy and the best way to configure them.

I'm upgrading to a HP Z800 with 2.44 GhZ processors dual quad core with hyperthreading (16 virtual cores), 12 GB of memory and a GeForce GTX 470 overclockee.  Without the implementation of a RAID configuration (which I can't afford right now), I would use 4 bays for HARD drives available in the Z800 in the optimal way for the Premier Pro, using currently available drives.  Currently, I plan to buy a 300 GB VelociRaptor to use as my C drive because of the time of extended loading and demands placed on the disc of ProTools and plug-ins Waves associated.

I would appreciate your suggestions to improve my next plan: C (300 GB WD VelociRaptor) for the operating system and programs; D (1 TB WD Black Caviar) media and projects; E (1 250 GB WD Caviar Black) for the swap file (approx. 18 GB) and media Cache; and E (2 TB WD Caviar Black) for Pro Tools, exports, and previews of audio files.

I have great respect for the knowledge of the members of this forum and look forward to your suggestions.

    / Bill

    Bill,

If the live band shots involve a lot of multi-camera editing, I suggest a raid0, otherwise, if the Assembly is a single camera only, I would use separate disks, one for the media and for exports. The risk of losing all the data in a raid0 configuration would not bother, because the intensive part of the disc reads media / FLV writes. It will not be a significant difference in performance between playback of a disc and writing to each other compared to R/W in a raid0.

  • No video playback in first Pro CS5.5

Video playback is completely insensitive. show the program monitor through all that is at the origin of the program (for example-, the office or anything that is open). I have a GTX560 Ti graphics card and I've already activated as a CUDA taken in charge for the "Mercury Playback Engine acceleration GPU". I am new to use the forums for help with these issues. Help, please.

Wow, I've spent a lot of time to go through all these links recommended. I did everything you said and I finally figured it right before I was about to send you a HUGE response. I just need to adjust video Image settings under the control panel of Nvidea NVidea settings rather than the video player settings. A really easy solution. I am happy that it was not something big. Thanks anyway, sorry if I've wasted your time. I learned a lot, however, and not only to set up a post for my problem clear.

  • S Q on 4 disk configuration ideal for first Pro CS5

OK, so I think I have my put rigging in place for more efficiency and performance with respect to hard drives...

I have 5 discs total, but only four is used continuously, 1 is external.

I will number them for easier...

1 boot - 10 K veloci - contains the OS and only for programs

    2. Media - 10 K veloci - holds all the media to be cut

3 swap pagefile to the OS - 64 GB SSD - chocks, media swap file for CS5 - not here to multimedia files, just cache files

4 storage - sata3 black Caviar - 7200 RPM drive but surprisingly fast - holds all renders finished

5 external storage - blue Caviar on an esata port - used for daily backups.

    Issues related to the:

A - a single 10K veloci, now all my uncircumcised media files, fast enough to afford media display full resolution?

B - The #4 is fast enough to drive 7200 RPM - its sustained write speeds are around 80-90, so I thought that would be enough.  Should I be out my restores to the #3 since it's a SSD?  It's sustained write speeds are around 140-150.  I didn't think I would need this amount of speed, since makes most is in the format h.264 and files-ish around a few hundred megs or so... maybe a 1 GB maximum.

C, I wonder - so it's best to leave him restores the disk #4 or #3?  But because the #3 was already used for the cache of the OS and the PP files, I thought it would be too difficult to use as a drive for export, too.  Or am I wrong?

Advice or suggestions on the best way to set up my disks is very much appreciated... Thank you!

  • First Pro CS5 does not not after 55 minutes of capture with intensity shuttle

Hi and thanks for the valuable resources on this forum.

I'm analog video capture in first Pro CS5 it using the shuttle Blackmagic intensity (with corrector time basis in the path of the video).  My shots are stopped at 54 or 55 minutes when the computer becomes inadmissible.  What happened with the codec Blackmagic movement as well as jpeg YUV 10 bit capture. Same thing if I capture with express media (blackmagic capture software)

I tweaked my system according to the many recommendations in the forum.

Running CS5 5.03, backup 10 minutes automatic (same problem without automatic recording or automatic check in at 20 minutes)

    Windows 7 64 bit fully up-to-date

    I7 - 930 cpu

    Gigabyte x58A - UDP5 (revision 1)

    24 GB Ram

NVIDIA 470 - MSI twin Frozr cooling solution.

    Restore off, windows search indexing

Followed advice from the forum and Viper about optimization system

    3 hard drives

System on standard Sata 2 drive

The capture of SSD drive from OCZ Vertex 3 120 g (beautiful piece of gear) of the project currently running on the Sata 3 controller

    Pagefile on another hard drive

    Uninstalled Norton 360

Anything else I could find uninstalled or disabled.

Firmware and latest drivers for USB of the Station pilot as recommended by Blackmagic.

Capture of the very successful things less than 55 minutes, but I have things any longer I would like to capture at once.

I used process Explorer to watch what is happening.  Nothing special that I can identify in terms of process, but cpu seems to be 100%.

With the progressive settings problems remain the same.

I'm not aware of any limit of size of file with Premiere Pro or Blackmagic - is there some?

Whereas reinstall but would be grateful to all points of view.  My first post so I hope that I have provided good info to help me help you.

    Thank you

As happens with the BM software as body, I will GUESS that the problem is with the pilot BM device that links software appliance

I would check to see if they have a difficulty with BM

  • Mac Pro: more RAM or better video card for video editing?

I'm going to buy a new Mac Pro for video editing in first Pro CC, but can't decide if I should ad more cores, more RAM or a better graphics card.

Intend to change the RED 4 K files.

    Hello

I'm certinaly not an engineer who can comment on how applications are written and how can hearts of processor they can write effectly, but there has been a lot of comments to the Mac Pro (new), and to answer your question, based on what I read, there were comments that the 8 basic model is good for video editing - not too , nor too little.

Being an editor, I'd always put my money to get the best graphics cards and the largest amount of RAM that you can afford.  For work, we've been specing on new models and it was the 'formula' we follow.  With the exception of the RAM, sounds like once you buy, your clerks to the material with the new machines.

I found the review below to be a great resource that can help answer your question.

Hope that helps and good luck with your purchase.

  • Moving files from first elements 8 PC for Premiere pro CS5 for Mac

Hi, I am a new user of Creative Suite CS5 Production Premium on a Mac and I'm trying to open some of my unfinished projects of video from my old computer with Premier Pro. My old computer is a PC and I had been editing HD with first Elements 8 images, but I now have an equipped MacBook Pro which is much more suitable to what I was trying to do on my old computer, and I'd rather finish my projects on my new mac rather than on my old computer.

I exported my workspace for the videos and the file of the elements, I was working on in folders and them moves on my Mac's hard drive. I read that first Pro CS5 automatically converts files of items when they are open, however, I get an error message about how they are files of a PC version of the elements and cannot be opened. My question is, is it possible to convert PC files first elements 8 into something that can be opened on the first Pro CS5 for Mac?

PrE is only available for the PC. Unfortunately, there is no compatibility between PC GER (PREL) and PrPro on a Mac project files.

It was the same with files in project PrPro 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0, because they were PC only and there is no Mac version, up to CS3. The only solution was that could get a friend on a PC with the CS3 version to open/import the PrPro 1.0-2.0 projects inside, let it convert and then make a Save_As. That the resultant project COULD be opened/imported in CS3 Mac. Compatibility is with PrE8 and CS5 - PC.

    Your choice is:

1.) export rough-edited pre on your old PC files and then import those as assets, to finish editing

2.) find a friend with CS5 - PC, import/open these project files PrE who, not a Save_As and then move the files to your Mac project

3.) finishing editing on the PC

Sorry for the bad news, but good luck.
