• Recommendations for an application Try & Buy PlayBook of expiring.

  I have a PlayBook application that I want to distribute using Try & Buy. If I understand correctly, I am responsible for creating the logic which expires the application X days after installation. I need to do so that the user is not able to always uninstall and reinstall the application in order to extend the trial period. From my research, it seems the phone apps have the ability to store the date of the initial installation of storage 'persistent' which is not deleted on uninstall. The PlayBook has this type of storage? I am familiar with PlayBooks file structure so I know I could put a file in the shared files box, but it would be easy for the user to find and remove.

  Someone at - it recommendations for a good way to expire an app PlayBook in a way that prevents to uninstall/reinstall in order to avoid the period bypass trail?

  I don't know what the Android player support for payment (if anything), but I think that the other three environments now support payment. You can read the information on in-app purchases even if I do not remember the term 'license key' is clearly stated in the API documentation. Easy to find if you need.

  I don't know how that would solve the 'problem' with people from uninstalling the app and put it back, however. There is still no mechanism that you can use to save the State that persists through the sequence to uninstall/reinstall.

  I would say also that it may well be the best approach "structurally", you may not be happy with some of the side effects resulting from running App World. Specifically, I think that your application would be regarded as 'Free' and listed with free applications, which can mean you end up much lower in lists, because while you can get a lot of installs, you can get some shopping and so some good reviews.

  I can not advise other than to say that according to my understanding that you could do a mechanism to try/buy actually there apart from the thing to uninstall/reinstall.

  Personally, I think I have just limit my trial version to ensure that certain basic features disabled and so inefficient. For a few dollars, if the trial just gives people a general feeling of the product, and they really are the prospects, they will simply say "hmm... doesn't look bad" and pay the $2 or something else...

  I work as a librarian and I am responsible for the Department of the thesis of my University Library. These are filed and archived as PDF files. Some of them are available online, some are not.

  I was told to systematically fill metadata "Title" and "Author" for each PDF deposited in our electronic despository.

  My question has to do with metadata "author." Is there a structure recommended for her?

  As it is I can think of a lot of different alternatives:

  First name last name

  LastName Firstname

  LastName, Firstname

  etc.

  As a librarian, my instinct was to choose the name, first name format (used in the author/creator DC element, for example), but I realized that whenever I have saved the PDF file and then displays the part of metadata (via the shortcut Alt D), it would show "Lastname, Firstname" rather than the full name (for some unknown reason, adds Adobe Pro "" ""). After some tests, I came to the conclusion that the coma was the source of the problem. So I changed my mind and adopted the format Firstname Lastname , but I'm not sure that this is the best option.

  So if I ask you a few questions, here they are:

  -Which format do you recommend for the metadata of the author (if there is one)?

  -Why a coma generates ""?

  Is there a specific separator character that I use when I need to fill two different names (if a given thesis has been written by two different people)? (this issue also applies to metadata "Key words")

  There are no rules in itself, but the XMP specification defines DC: creator as a ProperName field, which means it must be written in the way he would say - "John Smith" rather than "Smith, John". Finally, it is until you do with data - if your external search system to priority of family name, do it.

  The fields on the tab of "description" of PDF Properties dialog comes from this Document information block in the standard PDF file, which is independent of the XMP metadata. Although these fields of DI are often people will look on, in a formal catalog system the XMP object has priority (indeed, in the ISO PDF/A standard that you are supposed to ignore completely DI fields).

  Document Information fields are stored in the PDF file as strings rather than the XML entities. Commas would confuse the parser in thinking it was to see a table, so they will trigger Acrobat in order to encapsulate the entries between quotes. He will assume a comma and a single space are part of an individual term, if you want to create a list using the semicolons or several spaces between words. Senicolons conquer spaces:

  • Doe, John; Lord Lucan; Barney, the Purple dinosaur will be kept at the "Doe, John"; Lord Lucan; 'Barney, the Purple dinosaur'
  • Is no one, no one will be kept to the ', that is, not a "; person because the spacing is a term separator.
    

  The important thing to remember is that the entrance of DC: creator XMP is updated whenever you change the author field of DI, but it does NOT follow the same rules. ProperNames XMP are OK with spaces but they don't like commas or semicolons - so the first example above appears in the tree view of XMP as

  This reinforces the idea of using names as spoken. Lord Lucan has survived his trip to XMP, John Doe became two people. Barney is beyond hope. in many ways.

  I'm currently my stats using dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats with the option "rally car", it's good because only the data tables with stale and empty tables are being analyzed, but the process takes 3 to 4 days...
  
  Now I want to spread the statistical processes on nodes in the cluster using gather_table_stats (stale tables and empty tables only), while I was doing my procedure, I discovered the following, and here's where I need your help.
  
  If I run the following command:
  
  exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats (ownname = > 'CACOSTA', tabname = > 'subpart_date', granularity = > 'SUBPARTITION', partname = > 'P200901')
  
  I can see the stats from my server BUT no stats have been taken for the partition.
  
  If I change the granularity on the "PARTITION": gather_table_stats
  
  exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats (ownname = > 'CACOSTA', tabname = > 'subpart_date', granularity = > 'PARTITION', partname = > 'P200901')
  
  It will take the stats ONLY for the partition, but not for subparts.
  
  If I take the stats twice for 'PARTITION' and 'SUBPARTITION', I'll get all stats but it will take twice as long to complete.
  
  Is someone can you please tell me if I'm on the wrong approach? is it possible to understand that when I use the granularity of the "PARTITION", it can take the opportunity to use this same information it is collecting and provide statistics for subparts too to the RDBMS?

  I can see the stats from my server BUT no stats have been taken for the partition.

  If I change the granularity on the "PARTITION": gather_table_stats

  It will take the stats ONLY for the partition, but not for subparts.

  If I take the stats twice for 'PARTITION' and 'SUBPARTITION', I'll get all stats but it will take twice as long to complete.

  Is someone can you please tell me if I'm on the wrong approach? is it possible to understand that when I use the granularity of the "PARTITION", it can take the opportunity to use this same information it is collecting and provide statistics for subparts too to the RDBMS?

  First of all I think it's important to understand that statistical subpartition will actually not to be used by the cost based optimizer in previous versions 10.2.0.4 (but in 10.2.0.4 only with bugs without patch installed, see the link to the message below) and 11.1.0.6:

  So, I'd be interested to see a case in the database pre - 10.2.0.4 where the optimizer actually using subpartition level statistics; I have not yet found one.

  Second, he must be aware of what Oracle offers several ways how to maintain the different level of statistics:

  -Less consumption of resources, but less quality: collection of statistics on the lowest level (e.g. subpartition) only. I hope all subparts of the partition have statistics, the higher levels (partition / global) will be inspired by the aggregation. This way, you get the low quality statistics on levels higher (e.g. no histograms will be generated by aggregation, number of distinct values potentially quite inaccurate), but you do not need to collect statistics on these levels. Note that if once you have collected statistics on the higher levels (indicated by the "GLOBAL_STATS = YES" column in the DBA_\ * views STATISTICS) will not perform this statistical aggregation. You must first remove the statistics of higher level using DELETE\ * _STATS have enabled new aggregation (next time gather you statistics on low levels and all partitions (sub-) have statistics)

  So in your case a database pre - 10.2.0.4 you should not bother with subpartition statistics at all (or you can show me otherwise I would be interested), and you can then try to find out if you could live with the above statistical approach of "sum" by simply collecting statistics on the level of partition, or if you need to collect statistics on the partition and the global level separately (you did not mention your current strategy to the global level statistics).

  If you install the 10.2.0.4 patch game you have several options and statistics subpartition can be used by the optimizer (but only in the case of beach-list composite partitioning, as far as I know), for example by using the option of PARTITION AND APPROX_GLOBAL introduced in this version. Note that you must install the unique patches to get this working properly as described by my post and the optimizer of blog post for the development group.
