Virtual device driver

I work in a nonprofit, and recently a laptop was passed down to me.  It was better than what I had so I moved all my info and programs above and installed my printer.  I had no problem for a few days.  My laptop has some financial information about it so I do not use it on the internet - to keep the news of peoples against theft.  One day, I tried to print and I received an error message on the memory.  I did a scan and now it complains of a virtual device driver.  I have uninstall avg2013.  In one of the other forums, he said that this may.  I have windows 7 32 bit and my printer (I love and you use every day) is an Okidata C5500.  Someone please help or I have to go back to my old computer which is XP. Thanks advance.

Anna

  • What is the best way to move the node for virtual device to an IDE SCSI hard drive?

    I used PowerCLI on vSphere 5.0 5.5.

I'm deploying VMDK that were created with a switch in Ghost from Symantec, which by default is the HDD to IDE interface.  How can I change the HD of IDE, SCSI using PowerCLI?

We also seek to regenerate the VMDK with the correct setting in Ghost, but maybe it's not feasible.

I looked at the post below, which seems close, but don't tell me how to change the Type as the disk ID number.

Sort of put the virtual device node / drive SCSI ID?

When I look at the vmdk on the host for the virtual machine, I can see that the ddb.adapterType field is set to "ide" and KB 1016192 - conversion of an IDE virtual disk to a virtual SCSI disk

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1016192

I need to have the value of "free", but I can't manually change the vmdk file.

In addition, the hard drive has the VM operating system already installed on it, so I don't want to just remove it.

Another related problem is that I can not put the type of SCSi LSI Logic SAS controller LSI Logic parallel (Windows VMs does not start if it has the value LSI Logic SAS). I just get an error "inconsistent backup specified for device 0.

    Appreciate any ideas.

I thought that I would come back and update this post.  I got it works by changing a setting when I create the VMDK.

I changed the way I created the VMDK via the Symantec ghost32.exe (version 11.5?) application by adding the following switch:

    -vmdkAdapter = free

    Ghost32-clone, mode = restoration, src = 'SRC %', dst = "% DEST" - vmdkAdapter free course =

It worked for my Windows 2008 VMDK, don't know what he'll do for any other type.

At the end of the day, I have never able to edit the VMX of PowerCLI file, although I got close enough.

Regarding PowerCLI, I think I have corrupted files on the ESXi server and could never get around it. The steps were roughly as follows

    1. the Copy-DatastoreItem cmdlet to copy the file vm.vmx on the desktop of the local computer

    "2 use Get-Content to read file and change ddb.adapterType ="ide"with ddb.adapterType. =" free ".

    3. copy a ConvertTo-LinuxLineEnding cmdlet from the internet and remove CR/LF characters to the BYTE level; because nothing else has worked.  I still don't think it worked 100%.

4 copy-DatastoreItem to copy the vmx file to the directory of the virtual machine.

The vmx file has the correct setting and looks ok, but I think something is broken here, because when I use the VI Client to look at the data store, there are only 2 files in the directory. I don't know which more.

    5 remove-hard drive

6 New-hard drive - vm $vmObj - diskpath "[datastoreName] vm/vm.vmdk", at this point, I get "the path of the specified disc is inaccessible or does not exist.  It is probably because I have damaged the structure of files on the data store.

When I delete the virtual computer in the VI Client, I can remove it with success, but I have to manually delete the directory on the data store using skip
    Control data store.

  • Sort of put the virtual device node / drive SCSI ID?

Is it possible to define, through PowerCLI, the virtual device node / SCSI disk ID of a VM hard drive to the specific address?  We need to pin a high specific controllers virtual machine disks and disk IDs to ensure the consistency of multiple deployments.  Bring on the specific controller was easy, but I was not able to find a way to set the ID of the disk.

    Thank you!

    Hello, stromcooper-

You can use the method ReconfigVM() to a VirtualMachine object to change this.  It is the property UnitNumber to the VirtualDisk and you create some context objects to make the change, such as:

    ## the VM on which to change a disk's SCSI ID$strVMToUpdate = "someVM"## get the VM$vmToUpdate = Get-VM $strVMToUpdate## get the hard disk to change; assumes it is called "Hard disk 2" here$hdskToChange = Get-HardDisk -VM $vmToUpdate -Name "Hard disk 2"

    ## create a new VirtualMachineConfigSpec, with which to make the change to the VM's disk$spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec## create a new VirtualDeviceConfigSpec$spec.deviceChange = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualDeviceConfigSpec$spec.deviceChange[0].operation = "edit"## populate the "device" property with the existing info from the hard disk to change$spec.deviceChange[0].device = $hdskToChange.ExtensionData## then, change the second part of the SCSI ID (the UnitNumber)$spec.deviceChange[0].device.unitNumber = 8## reconfig the VM with the updated ConfigSpec (VM must be powered off)$vmToUpdate.ExtensionData.ReconfigVM_Task($spec)

The line where it is implemented. .unitNumber to '8' is where you would put your ID desired.  This piece of code maintains the VirtualDisk on the same SCSI controller on which it is already located.  Note: the virtual computer must be turned off for the task to reconfigure.

  • Error installation software device driver for removable devices in Windows Vista x 64

I have Windows Vista x 64 installed on my PC and nVidia Forceware motherboard and graphic cards.

When I plug in any removable drive into my USB 2.0 port, Windows starts the installation of the device driver software and then sees it as an unknown device. The dialog where he asks me if I want to 'locate and install driver software', 'Ask Me later' or 'don't show this message for this device.

I select the recommended option: "locate and install driver software.

I click 'Continue' when Windows asks me permission to continue.

Then, when the execution of the installer of the software in the bottom right of my screen, the installation of driver software for device, it shows "unidentified device failed.

Then another window pops up saying this:

"Found New Hardware - device unknown".

Windows encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error trying to install it.

    Kodak

An error occurred during the installation of the device:

The driver for this device is missing a necessary entry. Maybe it's because the file INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit their website and check the support section for driver software. »

That's what he does when I'm trying to connect my Kodak Easyshare M550 digital camera. I would go ahead and contact Kodak, but the problem seems to extend to ANY removable device on my computer.

For example, I have a Lexar Flashdrive. When I plug it into my USB 2.0 port, it Windows says the following:

"Windows needs to install driver software for your USB Flash Drive", etc...

'Install the device driver software', 'USB Flash Drive search Windows Update'...

Then a window opens asking me to "insert the disk that came with your USB key. Problem is that no driver disk not supplied with the hardware that Windows Vista is supposed to come with the drivers. I know this because the camera and usb flash drive worked very well until I reinstalled Windows Vista on my new hard drive (new installation, because my old hard drive crashed) and I've NEVER had to install device drivers for Windows to recognize it as a removable drive and operate automatically.

Also, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and I had to manually "Update" the device driver to point to the "Windows\INF" folder in my hard drive, after copying the cdrom files needed for the specific subfolders for windows to let the program assign a drive letter for the drive virtual it creates.

I think that perhaps not all device drivers have been installed when I installed Windows Vista, this time. If that's the problem, I don't know how that could happen, nor how to fix it, but I really prefer to find a way to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows Vista again. I don't mind not manually install the drivers as long as someone can show me what files to copy and where to find them on the Windows Vista disk that I bought at Microsoft. I KNOW that Windows HAS come with these drivers.

If anyone knows how I can fix this, please tell me, because it's ridiculous to not be able to use any removable device readers (except for the use of all Flash drives). Thanks in advance.

I know it can be frustrating to solve problems.

  • WHILE the error is absent INSTALL WIN 7 I AM facing ISSUE is to say--a required cd/dvd drive device driver

    Hello Sir

I recently brought lenovo s20 nootbook laptop with win8.1. now I want to change it for win 7 but at the start of the process, I am faced with the question IE a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing error.

    Hi Kothalanka,

We are there to answer your concern about the installation process of Windows 7 .

Here are the following reasons why a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing error message occurs:

    • The installation DVD is removed during the installation process.
    • A bad quality DVD has been used to create the installation DVD.
    • The speed at which the installation DVD is burnt was too fast.
    • The DVD drive cannot read media.
    • The ISO file is corrupted.

To resolve your concern, we suggest you use one of the following methods, depending on your situation:

    • Burn the DVD to install at a slower speed.
    • Best DVD quality to create the installation DVD.
    • Update BIOS firmware for your DVD player.
    • Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a bootable USB key and then use the USB flash drive to install Windows.

If you still encounter the same error after doing one of the above resolution, here are a few troubleshooting methods that you can do:

    • Run the DVD on another computer to determine if the DVD works properly.
    • Test your DVD player using a Windows installation DVD official.
    • Attach the ISO file to a virtual machine to verify if it is corrupted.

For more information on how to resolve the error a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing , click here.

Do not forget to back up your files by using a storage device externally (for example USB, external HARD drive) before installing Windows 7 , in order to avoid any possible data loss.

Let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards.

  • A virtual CD drive junk keeps reappearing after each start up

I have a virtual CD drive created in my laptop Win 7 Pro x 64. The virtual CD drive is listed in Device Manager under the form FvFx CDDVDFx + tech-200 SCSI CDROM device. Its pilots are listed as cdrom.sys and PxHelpa64.sys
If I uninstall it, it reappears after the next startup. I guess that this is a left over of some software that creates or manages CD virtual drives, which I installed a little more in recent months, but all have been uninstalled and I don't currently have one of these programs installed.

  • USB Device Driver Code 37 Init Failure

I have a device driver kernel mode for a particular item of equipment that is installed as part of an .msi package. When the device is connected to a physical machine, the driver installs and is usable, and everything looks good in Device Manager. VMWare Workstation 6.0 or VMWare Fusion 8.1.0, however, the driver initialization fails; Device Manager the device with a caution on the badges and watch icon a device status of 'Windows cannot initialize the device of this hardware driver. (Code 37) ».

I am aware of things that can cause this, such as a bad driver signed, but I've not seen elsewhere behave differently on a physical hardware compared to a virtual machine. I know that the USB port is listing the device, I can see the configuration of the device in USBView. A breakpoint set on the driver with WinDbg DriverEntry() function does not, and the driver does not see when the loaded modules are listed, so it does not appear that loading the device driver.

I'm a little confused here. It is very reproducible on several systems running Windows 7 x 64 (I'll try for other operating systems as well to see if that makes a difference). I tried both USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatibility (the device is USB full speed). What a difference a virtual machine can make between the enumeration of devices and the device driver loading? Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Dave

Problem solved by my colleague, who is responsible for the installer. It turns out we were building our driver with KMDF 1.7 but specifying 1.9 in the file INF. building the driver with KMDF 1.9 fixed. There is some mystery here as to why he acted differently on a virtual machine on a physical computer, but for now we are just pleased to put the matter behind us.

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).
