Virtual device SystemControlSet Format of the driver in the registry is invalid

I am running Windows XP sp3, not interested in Windows 7 on this computer, I am trying to install a scanner Agfa Arcus II venerable (still today considered as one of the best for publication).  PC drivers are available from Agfa and downloaded as FotoLook for PC, however...

When I try to run the driver Agfa Arcus II, she prays for a disc I don't have (I have mac verson drive) I think it may contain some "Agfa FotoLook", I found the download of Agfa Fotolook but before installing I was marked "SystemControlSet Virtual device driver in Registry Format is close the invalid program.

Now I wonder? If someone has an idea, I would be very grateful for the thought.

Thank you, Robert.

The problem is new and may have a lot to do with my SCSI card and the communication between my computer and my Agfa Arcus II.  One problem was the drivers, but I was recommended to install ViewScan for Agfa Arcus II as he aged drivers superceeds of own Agfa and digitization program and everything works.

I'm now having a go at installing one of the recommended SCSI cards, can I ask ISA and EISA? My motherboard is a GA of Gygabyte old-SINXP1394(GA-8SQ800 Ultra2),
http://EE.gigabyte.com/products/page/MB/GA-sinxp1394ga-8sq800_ultra2/specs/

Bios specifications are:

  1. 2 x 2 M bit memory ROM flash, improved the ACPI functionality to compliance PC98/Win98/Win2000/me/CE/XP, Green, PnP, DMI, INT13 (> 8.4 GB) and functions of Kaspersky Anti-virus
  2. IDE 1 # ~ #2 SCSI, LS120, ZIP and bootable CD-ROM
  3. 2 x 2 Mbit flash ROM

The recommended SCSI card is an Adaptec AHA AHA AHA 1540 1520 1522 or 1542 for PCs ISA and 1742 or 2742 for PC EISA

You are able to tell from the photograph and the plug on this link if it's an ISA or EISA card please?

  • What is the best way to move the node for virtual device to an IDE SCSI hard drive?

    I used PowerCLI on vSphere 5.0 5.5.

I'm deploying VMDK that were created with a switch in Ghost from Symantec, which by default is the HDD to IDE interface.  How can I change the HD of IDE, SCSI using PowerCLI?

We also seek to regenerate the VMDK with the correct setting in Ghost, but maybe it's not feasible.

I looked at the post below, which seems close, but don't tell me how to change the Type as the disk ID number.

Sort of put the virtual device node / drive SCSI ID?

When I look at the vmdk on the host for the virtual machine, I can see that the ddb.adapterType field is set to "ide" and KB 1016192 - conversion of an IDE virtual disk to a virtual SCSI disk

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1016192

I need to have the value of "free", but I can't manually change the vmdk file.

In addition, the hard drive has the VM operating system already installed on it, so I don't want to just remove it.

Another related problem is that I can not put the type of SCSi LSI Logic SAS controller LSI Logic parallel (Windows VMs does not start if it has the value LSI Logic SAS). I just get an error "inconsistent backup specified for device 0.

    Appreciate any ideas.

I thought that I would come back and update this post.  I got it works by changing a setting when I create the VMDK.

I changed the way I created the VMDK via the Symantec ghost32.exe (version 11.5?) application by adding the following switch:

    -vmdkAdapter = free

    Ghost32-clone, mode = restoration, src = 'SRC %', dst = "% DEST" - vmdkAdapter free course =

It worked for my Windows 2008 VMDK, don't know what he'll do for any other type.

At the end of the day, I have never able to edit the VMX of PowerCLI file, although I got close enough.

Regarding PowerCLI, I think I have corrupted files on the ESXi server and could never get around it. The steps were roughly as follows

    1. the Copy-DatastoreItem cmdlet to copy the file vm.vmx on the desktop of the local computer

    "2 use Get-Content to read file and change ddb.adapterType ="ide"with ddb.adapterType. =" free ".

    3. copy a ConvertTo-LinuxLineEnding cmdlet from the internet and remove CR/LF characters to the BYTE level; because nothing else has worked.  I still don't think it worked 100%.

4 copy-DatastoreItem to copy the vmx file to the directory of the virtual machine.

The vmx file has the correct setting and looks ok, but I think something is broken here, because when I use the VI Client to look at the data store, there are only 2 files in the directory. I don't know which more.

    5 remove-hard drive

6 New-hard drive - vm $vmObj - diskpath "[datastoreName] vm/vm.vmdk", at this point, I get "the path of the specified disc is inaccessible or does not exist.  It is probably because I have damaged the structure of files on the data store.

When I delete the virtual computer in the VI Client, I can remove it with success, but I have to manually delete the directory on the data store using skip
    Control data store.

  • Sort of put the virtual device node / drive SCSI ID?

Is it possible to define, through PowerCLI, the virtual device node / SCSI disk ID of a VM hard drive to the specific address?  We need to pin a high specific controllers virtual machine disks and disk IDs to ensure the consistency of multiple deployments.  Bring on the specific controller was easy, but I was not able to find a way to set the ID of the disk.

    Thank you!

    Hello, stromcooper-

You can use the method ReconfigVM() to a VirtualMachine object to change this.  It is the property UnitNumber to the VirtualDisk and you create some context objects to make the change, such as:

    ## the VM on which to change a disk's SCSI ID$strVMToUpdate = "someVM"## get the VM$vmToUpdate = Get-VM $strVMToUpdate## get the hard disk to change; assumes it is called "Hard disk 2" here$hdskToChange = Get-HardDisk -VM $vmToUpdate -Name "Hard disk 2"

    ## create a new VirtualMachineConfigSpec, with which to make the change to the VM's disk$spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec## create a new VirtualDeviceConfigSpec$spec.deviceChange = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualDeviceConfigSpec$spec.deviceChange[0].operation = "edit"## populate the "device" property with the existing info from the hard disk to change$spec.deviceChange[0].device = $hdskToChange.ExtensionData## then, change the second part of the SCSI ID (the UnitNumber)$spec.deviceChange[0].device.unitNumber = 8## reconfig the VM with the updated ConfigSpec (VM must be powered off)$vmToUpdate.ExtensionData.ReconfigVM_Task($spec)

The line where it is implemented. .unitNumber to '8' is where you would put your ID desired.  This piece of code maintains the VirtualDisk on the same SCSI controller on which it is already located.  Note: the virtual computer must be turned off for the task to reconfigure.

    How does do for you?

  • Installation problem in the virtual machine Windows 98 sound card driver

    Hello, all.

I have bad to configure a virtual machine for Windows 98 is running VMware Workstation 7.0.1 in a 64-bit Windows 7 host. Normally, the operating system installed without error, and then I went to install the VMware tools. No problem here, either. I am then went to the Device Manager and, as expected, the sound card is driverless and listed under "other devices", with a question mark and named "PCI Multimedia Audio Device. I don't care because I knew that Windows 98 had no driver for the sound card workstation provides. I wasn't expecting to see another unknown device, however, this one called "PCI peripheral system. As recommended, I went to the website of Creative and sought "PCI 128. I found three different drivers there for the use of the device with Windows 98. Then, I installed the newest one and hoped it would also take care of the other unknown device. However, what happened is that I had a blue screen to complain the vxd ctpci9x (05). The sound card is now recognised as "Creative Sound Blaster PCI128" but had an exclamation point on the corresponding icon and did not work - no sound was available. The other device is remained unknown. I also tried the other two pilots, but the results were exactly the same.

I enclose two screenshots, one of the blue screen and the other from Device Manager after installing the driver.

    Help, please.

  • Collection of virtual device SCSI for tape drive node

When you add a SCSI device such as a SCSI tape drive internal to a particular Windows VM, regardless of which node to virtual device I choose?

This virtual Windows machine has two SCSI drives:

    -SCSI (0:0) hard drive 1

    -SCSI (0:1) hard disk 2

Can I put the tape on SCSI drive (0:2)?

    Hello

Choose a secondary controller and the SCSI ID of the device. If it is a SCSI ID 4 use something like 1:4. It's "best practice".

  • Partition on HARD drive disappeared after formatting using the product recovery disc

My laptop came with a partitioned hard drive C and D drives.

After formatting my hard drive using the recovery disk of the supplied product with my computer, I don't have any option to partition the HARD drive, only for the 1. 46 GB for some recommended backup, and the remainder became the C drive.
D drive disappeared. Now, when I put the USB ant in my laptop, it reads as D drive.
Can you please help, I need to have my hard drive partitioned into C and D drives, and flash memory can be any subsequent letter.

    Hello Richard

Is it so complicated to tell us which model of laptop you have exactly?
Anyway, when you use recovery Toshiba you cannot lose score. After using the recovery media, you'll have to factory settings and the structure of the HARD disk will be the same as on the first day.
Something like that is definitely not possible.

    > I don't have no option to partition the HARD disk
This option doesn't exist. On some older models of laptops, just an option to set up the first score ability there.
After the first start, you can go to disk management and activate the second partition. All that s!

Please tell me what model of laptop have you then I can tell you more about the partitions.

  • format a hard drive from the old computer

I got a hard drive of 250 GB desktop a replaced albums which I now use as an extra external hard drive.  Externally has never been formatted since the abduction and there are several files that have been transferred to the new office.  Now, I bought a new laptop and want to upgrade the laptop older to Windows 7 and place the existing files on the external hard drive before moving on to Windows 7.  I have prepared a complete upwards of the portable external hard disk plus however, the player is now almost complete with backup and previous files still there.  How can I simply reformat the hard disk to free up space for the old high tower files before moving the old laptop with W7?  I understand I will lose the backup in the formatting and you will need to save again.  Thsanks for assistance.

I decided to try to launch the format on my desktop instead of laptop.  The format was successful.  Thanks for the suggestions so.

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
