Virtual machine hangs after connection. Version 11 of the workstation.

Hi, I have a strange problem where post installation of Windows XP SP2 on a computer virtual workstation 11 machine crashes. As soon as I log on the machine, it crashes. This also happens with a machine that I created (same OS). I have Microsoft EMET (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2458544) on my machine. I changed DEP settings to opt-in application and I have also disabled EMET but machines keep crashing post login screen.

Any idea?

He is a hardened machine (running windows 8.1 entirely patches, 16 GB RAM, 2 GB of which is giving to the virtual machine) and a lot of people with disabilities services. VMware Workstation 11 requires some Microsoft services to work? I have no changes to settings such as EXP enabled on processor on machines that I created.

Thanks in advance,

Parth

  • Can't export virtual machines: unable to connect to the remote server

    Hello

I'm working on vSphere client 5.1 (vCenter Server 5.1). Trying to export a virtual machine for distribution model. When I go to file-> export the template OVF..., I get the following error message:

Can't export virtual machines: unable to connect to the remote server

Remote not sure what/who he is not able to connect to. If I connect vSphere Web Client and navigate to the same model (or all other models), under 'All the Actions of vCenter' I don't have an option to export to the model of the FVO. But if I use a VM machine instead of a virtual machine template, I have the ability to export to the OVF, but it is grayed out.

Am I missing any customer authorization or plugin for vShpere?

Discovered that vSphere server had some modifications made by HIM to resolve the violation POODLE. HE had to set the ip address of the machine where export OVF will be performed. Which allowed the connection to establish vsphere client and perform an export of the FVO.

  • Virtual machines do not get IP address from the DHCP server

Hello! I just spend Xenserver to ESXi. Created a couple of virtual machines and none of them gets an IP address from our DHCP server (DHCP server is a physical PC), and instead, they get a number of internal 192.168.x.y allowing connection to the internet.

Looks like a way to do this is to install a virtual machine that is a router, as M0n0wall, and route traffic to connect to the external network and finally to access internet. But this is not what I have to do.

I need to have virtual machines that are server to get an IP reserved for our DHCP server, and then our local windows client should be able to access it directly.

I searched on google and forums for this but I can't seem to find how to configure virtual machines to directly belong to our local network.

I thought that VMware would have a simpler way to do so than XenServer, but I was stuck on this one day now and really frustrated as I get not before with this project, stuck on this little problem... sigh...

    Thanks for your help.

    GER.

ESXi does not IP addresses to the virtual machines it host - if the virtual machines are not able to access your physical network than that of the thw two virtual machines acts as a DHCP server - now to the question of network - if you are not able to reach the virtual machines on the physical network or achieve fitness network virtual machines , then there is a problem with the physical connection to the ESXi host, possibly the configuration of the physical port that connects to the - is a way to test this theory to assign an IP address on the same network that the management port - if you are able to access the virtual machine, then you know that the problem is with the switch port.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA2E Setup hangs after connecting new HARD drive

    Hello

I have a problem with TOSHIBA Satellite A100 PSAA2E (3 year old laptop)
I bought the new SAMSUNG SPINPOINT 250 GB SATA (model HM250JI) hard drive.

After connection, the computer hangs on the first screen. I can't access the BIOS Setup (press F2)
I can't boot the CD of form (I can't select same drive to start by pressing F12)

    It just hangs.

When the HARD drive is unplugged I can access the configuration of the BIOS or boot from CD. When the original hard drive (FUJITSU 40BG) is connected, everything is ok.

I updated the BIOS to version 1.5 to the a more recent 2.6, but it did not help.

HARD drive runs under windows xp, when connected by USB port. It is formatted with NTFS: a primary partition(15GB), a stretch with two logical partitions (20BG, GB 215).

You have no idea where could be the problem?
Should I format hard drive in a different way?

    Hello

Check if your new HARD drive has been fitted with a small jumper that controls the master/slave/c-salt settings.

A friend of mine bought a new HARD drive and BIOS didn't recognize because the rider has been set to the wrong position.

  • Cannot start the virtual machine guest after receiving "License expired message" host ESXi 5.5

I can't start computer virtual invited after receiving "License expired message" 5.5 ESXi host. I am able to copy the vm folder prompted with all its files using WinSCP I had already installed on a desktop computer in the network.

However, it takes an extremely long time to download the VM [2.5 mb/s], which is of course a different question.

It seems that I was still on the trial with my vsphere client license, until it expired. I am able to view the virtual machine within the workstation 10, but I can't turn it on. It says "Please install a license to power on this computer" there is no way to install a license anywhere.

My question is... .will I be able to access this virtual machine if I download on an external hard drive, then add it to 10 VMWorkstation that I possess a current valid license?

Even if the evaluation license has expired, you should be able to connect to the ESXi host using the vSphere Client and follow the steps mentioned in the article that I posted before you enter the free license key.

  • Access to the network in all virtual machines lost after that put 8.1 to level.

Today, I upgraded my host computer to Windows 64-bit Pro 8.1. I did the upgrade through the Windows store. There are no errors or problems during the upgrade.

However: The host machine equipped with a Qualcomm E2200 network adapter, and it runs the 'Killer' Network Manager software called at startup. After the 8.1 update, when the machine did its last restart, Qualcomm Network Manager opened with a message that the LSP has not mapped correctly. I clicked 'YES' to remap it. Probably a stupid move on my part.

Thereafter, I lost all network connectivity in all my virtual machines. I have virtual machines for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 RTM (not the preview) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. ALL of them have lost the network.

The host computer has no network problem and works well after the upgrade.

Any ideas or suggestions to reset network connections in virtual machines?

All virtual machines are set to use NAT.

Oh I have to say also that the host computer is running VMware Workstation 10 and everything was fine and dandy, has never had problems at all until this upgrade/LSP remap thing. I have install VMware Tools in the VM of Windows 8.1, with no effect at all.

    Thank you.

    -J

    Two things, I'll try:

    1. go in the virtual network editor and restore settings. The culprit is probably the VMNet to NAT configuration.

    2. If this does not work, it seems that the virtual card for NAT does not somehow. The simplest workaround is to uninstall and reinstall the workstation.

  • Virtual machines not passing is not by at the junction of area after customization

Hi, we are established in a lab environment.

The first thing that comes to mind is that you deploy all your model since the same VM and your model of XP have been set to DHCP? If you have different models, see label of network NIC, you might have a few pointing to a network where DHCP is not available, and so the virtual machine, you make the deployment has not any network connectivity or a wrong IP address that cannot resolve to your domain controller or the VLAN different.

  • Portege M800 - the system hangs after connecting to fingerprint

I just got my Portege M800 weeks ago and frankly speaking, this model has been giving me a lot of trouble. Earlier, it's heat problem in the palm rest and there is no solution for it.

Now I am facing another problem with the connection of fingerprints. I'm running on Windows XP. I put the system must be locked after 5 minutes of inactivity. So normally after 5 minutes of inactivity, the system will have to be me to scan my fingerprint to open the windows. But there are moments which, after analysis of my fingerprints and put in correspondence with success, the screen will be just white (only show the desktop wallpaper). Not the desktop icons, no taskbar windows and nothing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up nothing and no answer even not a button. I tried to put the system to Hibernate by press the power button once as no response.

So I have to finally press and hold the power button to reset the laptop.

No matter which can help or give any idea of what was going on? Thank you!

    Hello

I believe that these issues are in the past fixed with the new version of the fingerprint reader. Have you tried to install the latest version or you already have?

  • Which physical network my virtual machine port is connected to?

    Hi all

We have several ESXs with classic vSwitches or dVswitches. All of them have several physical ports (classic NIC teaming configurations, all cards are active).  Different virtual machines are connected to these switches (a vnic by VM).

Is there a way to identify which physical port every single VM is connected to? Of course, I have no access the physical switches...

    Thanks for your advice.

  • XP hangs after connecting an external hard drive via USB port

When I connect an external hard drive of 250GB via a USB port on my system XP - SP3, the computer crashes immediately after the sound signal from the recognition of a normal connection PnP. There is no assignment of the station. I don't know that he had worked as can be expected before. A new 500 GB external hard drive is recognized as new hardware, the driver installed and ready to use, but after that, the PC shuts down completely new. However, when I do a system startup after connection of the same two drives, everything looks OK. Also, no problem with a USB stick of 2 GB. How to find what's the problem?

Well - it's Windows for you, sometimes. :/

Good luck with your new installation!

  • Why virtual machine say not 'connected' even when I'm running HA?

One of my ESX died (of two).  I wouldn't have the possibility to switch on instead of them being grayed out whereas my other esx server is on and I'm using VS Center?  Thank you.

In a scenario, when a server dies, the virtual machine is moved.  If you power down a server with the vm on this shutdown, then HA won't really kick in.  Shutdown vm will remain down, and as in your scenario, see the disconnected.  You can right-click the virtual machine, remove from the inventory, then browse your store data and then make a right click on the vmx file and add to the inventory.

  • Why as many files hard in virtual machine folder? also, I'm under vm workstation 10 can I upgrade to vsphere?

Hi all, I love the product vmware. scalability can not be beat. couple of questions, I have workstation 10.0.3 latest version, it seems that there is not a newer version after that?

my host is a h/d of 1 TB of ram processor 2.2 ghz 8gigs. I think I remember reading somewhere that vsphere requires more? I also a bunch of hard files in two of my virtual machine files is safe is a way to turn what turns off turn it devours space. Thanks for the comments.

    Hi Neil.

Yes, 10.0.3 is the latest version. There is a "Tech Preview", which is a later version if you're feeling adventurous.

Your listing must be ok for vSphere, but this does not mean that it runs natively on this machine, you can try to run in my computer instead.

Many VMDK files is probably because you choose to make them in 2GB increments when you created your virtual machine, you can also choose to have a large single VMDK file. It shouldn't have a big impact on performance.
