Vista runs in Mode safe, but freezes at normal startup

Hello

I have a Vista Home Premium 32-bit HP Desktop.  As on the first of September, my office has been freezing at different stages in the boot process and in some cases, once started and connected.  The kicker is that it works very well in all the boots to safe mode.

Don't know what to do next.

Restart tried selective upwards and still happens.

Ran SFC/scannow, no problems found.

Auditor memory of Ran, no problem

Don't run Norton 360, adaware and other malware remover in safe mode no problems.

A ran the startup, no problem repair

System Restore, still happens.

Disables the Windows, no effect Search Service

Help, please.

Hi ultldvl,

Check if an error message or error code appears in the Device Manager. Check out the link to open the Device Manager:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Open-Device-Manager

Also check for any error message or error code in the event viewer. Link: Open Event Viewer:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Open-Event-Viewer

You can run DirectX Diagnostic and check the results. Here is the link for the DirectX Diagnostic tool:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Run-DirectX-Diagnostic-Tool

  • aplication works in Mode safe, but not when windows starts normally

I have an application that runs when the system is loaded in Mode safe, but does not work when Windows is loaded normally. What could be wrong? What is a driver or a service?

I found the answer in the next chapter.

If the application works in Safe Mode, then you can assume that the problem is not with the application, but with the operating system, drivers of devices or other applications that load at startup that are in conflict with the application.

    Does this sound right?

    Thank you

If it works in Mode safe, look in system preferences > users and groups > login items and delete items from opening of any third party. Also look in Library/StartupItems. Nothing is put in this folder by default, so something in here belongs to you. Then log out and back in or restart and test.

  • I can't run in windows xp screen goes to normal boot options and mode safe but keeps coming back to the same screen

I can't get windows xp to run - I set a restore point - rebooted - ann that he goes to the economy/regular mode promp but when I try to open windows it just brings back me to the same screen.  Tried to run the system restore but disc is not xrecognize it. Help!

    Thank you Gary

    Do not follow exactly...

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If your system uses to work properly, what do you think might have happened to her since the last time, that it did not work properly?

If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.

Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again.  You have tried them all!

The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.

If this is the case, you must call Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt

    Enable Boot logging
    Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
    Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

    Start Windows normally
    Reset
    Return to OS Choices Menu

You need to choose in this menu is the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.

If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.

If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.

You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.

If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

    Here's my black screen problem:

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
CTRL + ALT + DELETE and on the tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a

  • When I hover over the links in Mode safe, I can get a preview of the text, but not in Normal startup - what could be the cause of the problem?

For example, in the forums, I used to be able to see the first line or so of text by placing the cursor on the link - on a new computer, I can't. I don't know if this is a setting on the latest version of Firefox (installed on the new machine), but when I start mode safe mode it shows me the preview. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Try turning off hardware acceleration.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.
  • That means when I can work in Mode safe, but normal mode is unusable

The other day, I booted up my laptop in the morning and read the news when my browser froze, then the whole system locked. Now, it takes an absurd amount of time to start, and once I have, the system hangs once more if I try to do anything. I am able to get safe mode and it works very well without any problems. So I'm clueless as to what the problem is. I tried to perform a clean boot and gave no results. I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

    Hello

You can also ask your question in the product Forums Asus here: http://vip.asus.com/forum/

  • Visible mode plotted, but not in normal mode

I'm doing a simple railway for a card. I have a line of 1 point that is solid. I copy this line, paste in front and change the line to a dotted by 3 points.

The problem - it shows me the line dotted and not the line continues below even if they are all two visible mode plotted.

At first, I thought sticking to the front was not working and I just changed my original line. But as I stuck again, I kept adding lines even if it only showed one.

Moreover, I am an experienced user, so I know that I'm not accidentally hiding from visibility. It seems to be a memory or display problem.

I must point out that there are a large number of roads on my card. Illustrator can handle only so many railways?

I have 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB video card

Two reasons, you cannot select the line

    1. The item is locked
    2. The question is on a locked layer
    3. It TR somehitng in font of it (for example: a group masked)

If you select all and delete, does it disappear? Cancel, then go through layer to find which layer it is on.

  • Backup and restore in Mode safe!

I was having a problem with my computer laptop windows startup and now have hooked to an external monitor, allowing me to use the computer in safe mode. I've send the laptop for repair in the next few days and would like very to save all this as the problem with is probably the hard drive or motherboard. Thus, after a search in the help and support available on the computer, I found a link to the backup and Restore Center (for some reason that I'm not able to access it through the control panel). When you click on the link nothing happens... it is not possible to use the backup and Restore Center while running in safe mode?

If it is possible, and I'm just computer illiterate it please let me know how I should do it, I'd rather a lot do not have to install all my programs when I get my computer.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello jmcrawford22,

The backup and restore service is not running in Mode safe and you will not be able to perform a backup. I suggest that you manually copy files (personal folders) to an external source using Windows Explorer. You will be able to copy the files. However, you will not be able to save the data of the program such as backup and restore does not work as you are not able to start the computer in normal mode.

My laptop (Dell Inspiron; Windows Vista Home premium 32 bit) works on safe mode and safe mode with n/w mode. When I try to boot into normal mode, it comes to the screen asking my password. You can enter the password. Then, it loads the screen saver and freezes. I see a green circle turning. He never stops. I tried ctrl + alt + delete. It does not work. I did repair the system. No use. I tried the system restore. It shows a file as OS (C :) and another as recovery (x :). I chose the recovery (x :) as file control. He has worked and showed a message like system restore successfully in safe mode. But the normal mode of sill is freezing after the password screen.

Upgrade to Firefox 25.0 today. Now I can't restart the computer (it crashes or goes to the blue screen; Win 7) but it starts in Mode safe mode OK and it starts in normal mode if I don't run Firefox since I finally started. This suggests that Firefox 25.0 installation done something for her. How can I proceed? Thank you, Jim.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • Can't install Itunes, get an error that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode"

    OP: Install problems Windows

I tried to install iTunes, but he said that "the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode or if Windows Installer is not installed properly. Call support personnel. "They gave me similar messages by other programs I've tried to install as well.

Because I was not running Windows in safe mode in time, I assumed that the installer was not installed correctly. So I tried to download from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

But then I got error messages like "this update does not apply to your system" and "not enough memory is available to process this command." I tried all the links and none of them worked for me. I'm running a Vista Home Premium 64 bit, and I 2.38 GB of available RAM, so I don't think that the lack of memory is the problem here. What should I do?

1.] I had a previous version of iTunes, but I got rid of it with Revo Uninstaller.

I was looking around and I found this: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-installation-setup/96680-repair-windows-installer-service-vista-all-versions-2.html

I followed the direction of the last message (by F'n Vista) and changed the value of WOW64 Registry and now iTunes has installed perfectly and works now. I'll try to install other programs that I got hurt with previously. Thank you very much for your help! :)
