Vista sidebar background must be transparent again

At a given time, the bottom of my sidebar vista turned gray opaque. I do not like that and want to return to again become transparent. Ideas anyone?

Hey Karena,

Thank you to intervene. I tried to follow your suggestions with the following results: on the topic of Vista: Sub 2, click themes. Select Windows Vista. This isn't a selection option! So here, he stopped.

On Desktop Windows Manager Session in start > search type services.msc and press ENTER. No result has come! Then I looked up services in the Task Manager, and Service Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager found started automatically.

Run as administrator at the command prompt and type net start uxsms > enter, the result was the requested service has already been started.

If all these solutions didn't. So I ran the tool from the link has... nothing!

I even ran the tool to another link: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/system_maintenance_for_windows. Always the same result: no! What I try to get the background of the transparent Sidebar again once I run in circles and dead-end streets.  I also enabled Windows automatic repair and the only result of this was at that time a little to uncouple shortcuts disappeared from the office. No other defects were found.

Please carefully read these answers and I would like to get your reaction.

    Hello

Recently the computer in business inherited from a friend, very fast and very good. I took a screenshot of what it says when I put Vista Ultimate product key: (it does not appear if you are unable to use it: P)

How would the installation of Windows Vista? My files would still be there when you need him? My drivers would still exist? No matter what to get deleted or become unusable? He would return to SP1? Any response is welcome.

You can order form of the manufacturer's recovery media.

The reason why the system as non-authentique shows currently is using a license in Volume KMS - these licenses must be re-activated at least every 6 months by connecting to the KMS user license activation server.

It will require a reformat and reinstall whatever you do, unless you can connect to the KMS - Volume media server cannot be upgraded under normal conditions.

    Hello

You can use this Recovery Partition to reinstall Vista to his new condition with the right edition of Vista.

This recovery partition was photographed on your hard drive by HP during the manufacturing of the factory.

You press F11 on startup to start the process of recovering back to factory settings.

Hello plantingrichard, first of all, it would be useless to worry about Firmware updates, because data for these Firmware updates are stored in the devices that the firmware has been installed for.

You may be able to restore the system with the feature of restoration of HP Recovery from the hard drive to the system startup and the F - 11 key when the HP Logo screen. Just as it was when shipped, it would put all HP applications on the system.

You can then use the Vista DVD disk and perform an inplace of Windows Vista SP1 upgrade.

If you don't want all HP applications, you can perform a new installation of Vista.

You may be able to locate the Vista SP2, but I suggest the Windows Update site and download and install all updates including Vista SP2.

If you have a DVD of Vista SP2, you can use it to upgrade or new installation. The Vista SP2 would have included in the DVD of Vista SP2 SP1 updates.

As you suggest, it will take some time to complete, but you'd probably have a more stable system using this approach.

When I try to start Windows Sidebar, I get a windows pop up, the search for file destination.msi.
    How can I fix it?

Okay, it looks like this problem occurs from time to time. But you can try the following:

First, you must open the command prompt, but with right click "run as Administrator".
Then navigate with the command CD to the following folder: C:\progam Windows sidebar.
OK, now you would type the following:

    1. regsvr32 sbdrop.dll u (after each order approve with the button ENTER)

    2 regsvr32 u wlsrvc.dll

    3 regsvr32 atl.dll

    4 regsvr32 sbdrop.dll

    5 regsvr32 wlsrvc.dll

Done, your sidebar should work again.

Hi, hope someone can help me here.  Running a Compaq Presario desktop computer.  OS is Vista Home Premium 32 bit and IE 7.  Recently I had today recconnectred with Verizon ISP but I'm having a problem.  I have my sidebar gadgets.  They are both an RSS feed and the weather gadget in the bug.  I deleted them and re added to them and that do not resolve the problem. Hello, Raymond J

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum.

The Windows Gadgets are third parties and you will have to contact the developer of this application to determine what may be the problem with the gadget. If you encounter a problem with a gadget that came pre-installed with Vista please repost your question here.

    Hello

No saving necessary data and re-installing Windows Vista might be the best option, but here
    are a few others.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

A method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is CTRL +.
ALT + DELETE - Manager tasks and tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is available by
repeatedly tapping F8 as you start. CTRL + SHIFT + ESC also begins the Task Manager.

First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the

  • Vista Sidebar and Media Player stopped working after uninstalling Mcafee and AVG installation

Hi, I'm new to the Dell Forums, my apologies if this isn't the right place to post this.

Yesterday, I decided to remove Mcafee completely from my Inspiron 6400 (running Vista Ultimate) and install the free version of AVG. First, I downloaded the http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033 and AVG Mcafee removal tool and was save on my desktop. I unplugged my internet connection, uninstalled Mcafee Security Center of programs & features (recommended by Mcafee), rebooted, then ran Mcafee Removal Tool Development. EXE, rebooted, installed the free version of AVG, went online and installed the AVG updates, performed a full scan with no errors. The system seems to work well, but then I noticed that the clock on Windows Sidebar gadget turned black, the deleted with only a yellow box calendar gadget. I tried to open Media Player, no luck because he would not just open. Tried to launch Media Player as an admin, no luck. While my connection is an admin one. There is another connection admin account so connected to this account, but you have the same problem. I did a system restore and also tried to create new accounts, but the same thing happens with the Gadgets and Media Player. I also ran startup repair by using the Vista DVD, no luck.

Did somebody encountered this problem? There is an almost similar post under Vista (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=41524&query.id=225388#M41524), but no solution. I had a feeling this uninstallation of Mcafee or running the Development. EXE may have messed up with the registry keys for the sidebar and Media Player. I also downloaded another gadget clock, no luck. Y at - it a fix for this? I don't want to install Mcafee again, as I had many problems with MCProxy and Spamkiller causing system crash and Mcafee has no solution so far. I also have spybot running on the system.

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this. Thank you
