Vista will not connect to a pc to network shared automatically at boot

I tried many things for centuries and then abandoned (years)... now I try again.

I have a 32 bit Vista pc and I always need to enter a user name and password to connect to another device on my network - I want it to connect automatically whenever the pc starts. I have a Windows 7 laptop and it connects to all devices in the network at startup (after I initially defined and registered the name of user and password). I want to give my kids my vista pc (they want a mac/ipad - I want they have a pc :-)) but I don't always have it connect automatically at all or network devices without the need for user names and passwords.

Help / tell me this problem is now resolved?

Thank you

Hello, JHM.

Try to turn off password protected sharing and check.

1. Open advanced sharing settings by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click network and sharing Center, and then in the left pane, click change advanced sharing settings.

2. click on the chevron to expand your current network profile.

3. under password protected sharing, select the following:

A. turn off password protected sharing

4. click on save changes. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Hi Tinkerbellfancolorado,

    1. When is this last work fine?
    2. Do you receive an error message or error codes?
    3. Recent changes on the computer?

There could be several causes for this problem.

    Try starting with these methods.

    Method 1

    Step 1

    1. Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then click diagnose and repair.
    2. Make sure that all cables are connected (for example, make sure that your modem is connected to a working jack or cable phone connection, either directly or through a router).
    3. Reset your modem and router. Remove the power cord from the modem or router, wait at least 10 seconds, then plug in the modem and/or router back.

    Step 2

Another reason may be windows disable your network adapter to save power. Turn off the power saving option in the properties of the network (wired network only cards) card:

    1. Open network connections by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking network and Internet, click network and sharing Center, and then clicking manage network connections.
    2. Right-click on the connection and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. On the Networking tab, click Configure.
    4. On the power management tab, clear the allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option, and then click OK.

    Method 2

Temporarily disable the firewall, and check the status.

NOTE: To re-enable the firewall after check you the status. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your /firewall antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Vista will not connect to Netgear WPA/WPA2 wireless router

HP Presario laptop with Vista Home Premium. Added Service packs 1 & 2 in a timely and all upgrades of MS Vista through 8/11. Laptop does not work on the wireless network using a new Netgear N300 router with WPA/WPA2-PSK security.  Roommate has Windows 7 on his laptop and connects very well. I thought that these Service packs were supposed to solve the problem of Vista-WPA? My laptop connects fine with the router if I use an Ethernet cable directly between the laptop and the router. NetGear argues that it is a matter of MS Vista. I missed a special fix?  Any suggestions?

  • Laptop will not connect to my home wireless network

I've had my laptop for a few months and my home network wireless also. My laptop has always worked perfectly until last night, I was in the living room and my phone cut because it ran out of battery. I went to restart, and when I did, NO network could be found, and several others usually appear outside my home network. The wireless switch is turned on and I rebooted the computer several times, I ran the wizards and shooters of boredom, I started the wireless zero configuration, but nothing happens. everything he says is "wireless networks could not be found", and when I click on the message, a black box appears with a message saying "windows has encountered an illegal instruction. I don't know what to do. my laptop model is a Sony Vaio, but that's what I know. My ipod connects to the wireless perfectly, so I know its my laptop that needs fixing.

  • XBox 360 will not connect to the secure WRT54GS network.

Have you tried the suggestions we found in the forums for the connection manually and we continue getting a connection error. We rebooted the modem and the router as well, and the XBox 360 do not always connect. Any ideas how to make so that it can connect to our secure network without messing up the network that we have already had to reset and set again only a couple of weeks and don't want to go there again.

It turns out that the problem was with the Xbox360 not its wireless sensor and refusing to install the correct programming for it. Had well cleared.

    Hello

    Hmmm strange
First of all make an update of the BIOS, that this should be done if a newer version is available and you have any questions.

You said you did a update check WLan if you used the latest version of the driver
Here you will find the latest WLan driver versions:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

You can also check WLan card settings in Device Manager-> properties-> advanced settings WLan card.
The same WLan channel must be used for the local network and router WLan card.
Check if the MAC address filtering is not enabled in the settings of the router.

  • "Error message: Verifing DMI pool Data data ', 'Boot from CD' and Vista will not start.

Vista will not start. Yesterday I had a remote assist of a tech trade SPS who took several Java updates and installed the recommended Java version. Until I left work the day I closed my computer so that he could install the updates from Microsoft. After the updates were finished I he turned and left for the day. When I arrived this morning, I had was a black screen and 2 lines of text following: 'Verifing DMI pool data' and 'Boot from CD' and a cursor flashing beneath them. I downloaded and executed a Western Digital utility that showed no problems with the hard drive, put in on the installation disc repair service is no error. I did a system restore to a point since yesterday morning, and Vista still does not start. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hi JohnHorky,

    Step 1:

First check and make sure that all physical connections on the computer are correct.

    Step 2:

Alternatively, you can try to run a Checkdisk and check.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

    c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    e. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt

    f. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER

    Chkdsk /f /r X: (drive letter)

Note: When you run the checkdisk, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    g. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    h. close all applications and restart the computer.

Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Step 3:

Check if the automatic hard drive in the BIOS (Basic Input/output System) is enabled and save settings and check if it works. If it doesn't, contact the manufacturer of the system for more support options.

I also suggest that you install the latest update of the basic system of input/output (BIOS) on the computer by contacting the manufacturer of the computer and check if it helps.

Important: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Network of shortcuts on the desktop will not connect to documents

I have shortcuts on my Vista desktop to the word "Networking" & excel files that I use all the time.  When I click on the shortcut, my computer says that the file is not found.  If I go through 'my computer' to connect to the file, everything is fine.  This problem is also the problem that I posted on another forum with no response yet:

Running Vista Business & Office 2007 on a Server 2003 domain.  When I access a 'network' (in Word or Excel) file, and then close the file, I'm unable to re - open the file... I get the message ' document is currently in use, try again later ".  Also, if I open a file, make changes and try to save it under the same name, I get the same message.  I have this problem until last Monday... like a switch has been turned upside down or something.  Any ideas?  I am connected to my workstation which is located in an area (I'm not directly connected to the domain).   This configuration running on all my machines Vista and do not have the problem on a different workstation.  Also the Quickbooks will not open the file of our networked society, workstation does not recognize the network as a QB file file.  Can someone HELP me with this.  My workstation, at this point, is essentially worthless.  I am unable to work on any network files.

  • Windows Vista will not download

Help. My HP G50 will start but the Windows Vista will not download. I pressed the keys F 10 and 11 F. The memory is good. I backed up my files using the F 11 Save function. I tried to go back to an earlier date using System Restore, no results. Can reset the computer by default, there is work in the F 11 key and then recover my files. Do I need a recovery disk?

Thanks for the reply. I made the. Backup of files Wizard. At the end she asks 'Please insert the USB key' - I suppose to download files on an external drive. Well I bought an external drive and connect it to the USB port, nothing happens. He said only: "no available drive. What should I do now. I did all the steps, according to HP said on their site of troubleshooting online and this is the last step. I will not buy an HP again. A friend recommends a Sony.
