Vista with Virus s... _
Vista computer has virus (s)! Under warranty, but of course... no software problems. Store said that I have to pay them $129.99 for them remove this virus (s), and I could lose all the data, and then pay $50.00 for download antivirus software that works? @
I couldn't just buy the $50.00 to get rid of the virus (s) current anti-virus software?

How to report a scam to Microsoft concerning Vista Security virus
Hello
Yesterday, while I was on my computer all of a sudden, I was bombarded with a message that appeared to be from Microsoft. He told me that my computer was in trouble. He says it's the security of Vista. He wouldn't let me not use anything on the computer and said I had a Trojan virus. He also said that I had to buy a fix for this.
I called my son, who is very wise in the substance of the computer, so talk about th. He came, looked at him and said that one of its computers had the same problem. but that was it for Windows XP, there. He went home, got a disc with something I think that loaded malicious software in my computer, and he took care of the virus called.
He told me that this happened for a while and it is certain that Microsoft is aware of it. I have an antivrus program, but he told me that some of the terrible things that are sent are move the normal programs.
My question is: do you know about, and if you do, why are you not protect us from him? If the malicious software can do it, I'm sure you can.
I look forward to hearing from you in this regard.
Sincerely,
Grace Martin

I bought Vista anti-virus and it is mucking my computer (I have no Appsdata now!).
I downloaded a bogus program. It works, but I constantly get pop ups on allow a program to run from my Appsdata\av.exe (which I can't find it) and "no authorization". Can someone help me please? There is a fake anti-virus program with this name. If you see a pop-up that shows that it scans and spectacle of thousands of malware, then it is wrong and if you purchase or download you are infected.
To check he's trying to log on:
http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/Center/whatsnew.htmAnd run the full system scan, if the blocked site, then you are infected and he left to analyze full scan and see whether or not it will remove.
If you have the sample file, and it is less than 10 MB, then send it to:
https://www.Microsoft.com/security/portal/submission/submit.aspx
For more analysis, if it is more than this test at zipper. If you believe you are infected and could not get ride of him communicate with technical support of Microsoft Malware Removal team:

Satellite Pro L300 - what I can reinstall Vista with the recovery disk?
Hey
I dual-boot (running Windows Vista & Win7) and if I delete Windows Vista can I reinstall Windows Vista with my recovery CD?
And I have another drive on my computer for recovery Partition so I can use my recovery CD to reinstall Windows vista if I want once I got rid of him and would it erase my win7 disk or remove the duel boot?My specs are:
Intel Pentium
2 GB OF RAM
Hard drive 160 GB> if I delete Windows Vista can I reinstall Windows Vista with my recovery CD?
You can use the recovery disk to reinstall Vista on your laptop but as Luke mentioned, the recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive. It would erase all partitions on the HARD drive and you will lose also the installed Win 7! -

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

Windows vista with service pack 2.
I have windows vista with service pack 2. Vista is no longer supported so where should I go from here as an upgrade?
I have windows vista with service pack 2. Vista is no longer supported so where should I go from here as an upgrade?
Hello
Vista is in the Microsoft extended support until April 2017.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.
There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.
Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.
Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

Follow these steps before buy you and upgrade (new installation) of Windows 8.1.
Microsoft sells more than 8/8.1.
Try Amazon.com, etc.
Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8.1 drivers available for your model.
If this is not available, Windows 8.1 not install and work properly for you.
There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:
Download and run the Windows Upgrade Assistant 8.1 of to see if your machine is compatible Windows 8.1 and read the update for Windows 8.1: FAQ here

'Upgrade' replace Vista with 7?
Hi, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv5-1138TX. Recently, I ran the auditor to update windows 7 and it said everything was cool to use the option 'upgrade' (rather than the 'custom' option) upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium - that I am looking to buy through the student offer on atm. My issue with this 'upgrade' option, is that he completely crushes Vista. I don't want to have the choice of still using vista, or to have both running on my system at the same time. I want just Windows 7. 'Upgrade' completely crushes Vista with Windows 7? Thanks for your help, Dale

I just bought a new router d-link wireless n for my house. Connect my Win 7 Desktop, laptop xp to Acer and multitude of other devices, but my laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 adapter does not connect to internet. I tried to disable IPv6, defining the name of the network, flushing dns cache, etc.. Nothing will work. (It would not connect to an another 802.11n router in January either.)
I get local only on both connections Wi-wired and wireless, no matter what I do.I'll send this to my office that I can not connect my laptop to the internet and he does not see the other machines on the network.Any suggestions from anyone? I spent hours trying to solve the problems, now completely stumped.OK, here was my fix:
I tried a lot of things, but they do not work. I downloaded a 'new' driver of HP - it turns out it was the original with the problem. I found another one that was about a more recent months, still does not work. I finally managed to get the atheros.cz driver for my card files. But they do not have an installation file. I had to search for each old file in its directory, copy it to another place (to be sure, just in case) and then copy and replace the old file with the new file in the original folder. Fortunately, there were only 6 files, but it took about an hour and a half. This isn't a lot of time compared to the 18 or if I was just trying to figure out the problem. Now, my laptop connects to the internet without problem.I had this problem with a router "n" beginning of the year in a hostel. The guy in the Inn told me that he had seen before once. It's obviously a common problem with these cards (as seen on the "solutions" online) and Vista. I'm always hating on Vista after this problem. -
I can't format my HARD drive, but during a test partition, _X, who was only 26 MB in size of about was some sort created and vista tried to install instead of the main partition, partition (_: X) was created several times not by me, as I was using full disc for my installation. What's wrong? fries, HARD drive, or win vista DVD fried, or win vista with sp1 wont install on a hard drive that had win 7 on it before formatting HDD and clean install that? Help? also, I got an error code 0 x 80070017.
Hello
1. When this error occurs during the installation?
2. you have the Vista installation disc or the service pack disc?
Method 1:
I suggest you try the steps in the following article from Microsoft to install Windows Vista on your computer and check if it helps.

For more information, see the following Microsoft article to know the system requirements to install Vista.

I would also refer to a similar thread with a possible fix:
