  • All-in-one HP Photosmart Plus B209a wireless - printer problems

I plug just this printer 2 weeks ago and there are already problems! A few days ago, I went to print something a TI never printed, so I checkd the queue and it says the printer is offline. I checked and the 'use printer offline' option has NOT been verified. I googled looking for help offline wireless printer and came across some tips to restart the spool.and then unplug and plug back into the printer, so I did and he went online and I was able to print 1 document of 4 pages. But after this document, I tried to print another document, and it said "error-printing" in the queue. So today, after that I restarted my computer, it worked well again - for a document. Then he returned to offline mode. So I watched fo more help online. I tried making sure the correct port with my printers IP address has been verified and he was, and I tried to uninstall and reintalling the drivers that did not help. I basically tried everyting on the HP support on the topic page and nothings worked. But it peprfectly worked well for a week so I don't see why it would be to have these problems now?

Also, I tried to print a document 2 faces a few days (before the issuance of all offline). I went to the printing preferences, click on 'manual' under duplex print, then ok, and it printed all the odd pages, as it was supposed to. Then the screen came from promting me to take the paper in the output tray and the tray and click on continue so I did. I waited and waited and waited for a good 10 minutes and never even printed pages. In the queue it sad it was printing, but it wasn't. I cancelled the document and just tried to print a document face a regular to see if this works-it printed fine. So I tried printing 2 - against new and it's the same as before.

The laptop I am I am trying to print from is a Sony Vaio CR320 running on Windows Vista. I have not instaled anything new in the last week, so I know there are no new program interfering. Also, I have not removed any programs.

Any ideas? I am a student and I am a little lost without a printer lol :/

OK, time to bring in power tools.  Download, install and run this tool.  He should tell us what is happening.  Run it when the printer shows offline.

  • DeskJet 2546 b: Wireless print job stays in queue and poster printer offline after the upgrade to Windows 10

I write a fix I found for a pretty annoying problem involving 10 Windows and HP wireless printers.

My Deskjet 2546-b printer was printing OK wireless to the point 8.1 of Windows until that I upgraded my computer to Windows 10. Immediately after I upgraded to Windows 10, I could not scan, so I reinstalled the printer software and has worked for a day or two and then the printer would print not unless I restarted the printer or the computer - sometimes 2 or 3 times. This went on for a few weeks, sometimes it would be nice, sometimes, usually after the computer restarts, he would simply go offline. Once, he went offline 3 times when I was printing about 20 postage labels, recently he went 1 week without any problems.

Long story short, after a lot of troubleshooting and to help a friend to HP, I found the problem to be associated with the WSD/service Port in Windows 10. My printer still maintains a stable connection with my Netgear router (wireless to the printer light stays on blue) and I was able to scan from the HP software and I could ping the printer... but printing would be just stuck in the print queue (the spooler service) and the printer showed offline in the queue, hardware and windows devices , or when printing from a program like Windows.

I learned that if I went in devices and printers, until I sent a print job, if the printer showed offline, I could save time by restarting the printer simply and he would come every time (less painful) online.

But it's just a solution and not a solution.

Nothing worked... not even print and scan doctor. The final fix that worked was to define an IP address manually for the printer, and then I put the print driver to use a standard TCP/IP port.

Here is the step by step. Your printer must already be connected to your network (solid blue on printer).

Step 1: Make sure your printer uses a manual IP address

    (1) to obtain the IP address of your printer:

    • If your printer has a control panel with a menu, it's easy... Just look in the settings menu without wire/report and write your printer IPv4 address.
    • If your printer is not a menu of fancy and repower the computer and printer HP Print and Scan Doctor network menu display use (wireless), or you can connect to your router from a web browser (usually 192.168.1.1) and look at attached IPs (like me). Some printers can also print a report of the network when you hold down some buttons everything back up and running, but you will need to search the web site of the Internet or HP to find the process for your printer model - the report displays the IP Address of the printer.

    (2) once you have the IP address of the printer number, type this information in a web browser... like 192.168.1.x (where x is the last number of your printer)

Web page of the printer should find - otherwise, use another browser (you can use a tablet or iPad if you want). HP has several different forms of printing of web pages (embedded web servers) depending on your printer model, but they all have a large number of parameters.

    (3) since the network tab or section, look for a manual IP address configuration.

    (4) suggest an IP address or type in a new.  I've personally used suggest and then replaced by the last number 241. You want to use a high number, something in the order of 240 to 250 to reduce the risk of problems caused by your router assign this number to something else on your network. Note the 4 digits for the new IP address manual, you will use them later.

    5) click apply and close the web page of the printer.

Step 2: Make the print driver using the manual IP address of the printer

Open the devices and printers in Windows, right click on your printing device and select printer properties. Follow the prompts to get the WSD port and on a new local port...

    1) click on the ports tab.

    (2) add the Port.

    (3) click on after the first screen, and then click new port type.

    (4) enter the IP address of the printer.

    (5) next.

    (6) select the new port.

    7) click OK.

You have now two pilots displayed in the printers and devices window, you can now print... but you might not be able to scan and the HP printing software may not work as he might want to lets you add a new printer when you open it... If Yes, proceed to step 3.

Step 3: Remove print devices and install a new one.

Need to do this to get the software back HP synchronized so you can scan.

    (1) right click 2 print devices listed in the window of your printer and remove them by clicking on remove device.

    (2) open the HP printer Assistant software (from the icon on the desktop or you can search Windows by using the name of your printer).

    (3) installation/add a new printer... go fast and a new device icon is added to the printers and devices window.

    4) return to the printers and devices window and open the properties of the printer again for your printer icon.

    5) go to the ports tab (yet) and you'll see a new selected WSD port, select Port Standard, you created earlier in step 2.

    (6) you have now two print devices in the window (again), but now everything should work.

These two devices alone from here on out. Do not remove one and everything should work fine. At least it worked for me. I hope it works for you. I'm hoping a Windows update resolves this problem soon, I see many people who cannot print or scan wireless after they upgraded - not just the stuff of HP.

  • HP OfficeJet 3830: 3830 HP wireless printer is offline in "sleep mode" and don't wake up to print

I've just set up a HP OfficeJet 3830 as a printer connected to my network wireless domestic (Airport Extreme Base Station router 802.11ac wireless). I was able to print-out of my MacBook, but when the printer goes into sleep mode, it appears offline and unresponsive to print. I have to restart the printer for her to appear online and respond. The printer will be in the basement, so it would be very inconvenient down to reboot just to print it. Kind of defeated the purpose of a wireless printer. I tried to disable the sleep mode to see if it works, but sleep mode settings cannot be disabled in the printer preferences. I already spent 3 hours to solve this problem.

I contacted HP technical support to solve the problem. The person told me restore default settings and then unplug the power to the printer and the router wireless for 30 seconds. After restarting the router, then the printer, we have connected the printer to the network with a static IP address. Who did the trick. Even if the printer is in "sleep" for several hours, it has not disappeared in offline mode, as it is done before. Problem solved for now. Hope this helps others.

Sometimes it cfomes on then it turns off again. Any help much appreciated.

Number of brand and model of the router?

These settings are to set up your printer wireless (or wired):

    • Stay connected to your router
    • Trouble printer status 'offline '.
    • All wireless devices stay better connected
    • Fact faith, your router most secure and hack
    • Can speed up wireless printing

While the DHCP is convenient, devices like printers (wired and wireless) should always be assigned a (fixed) IP address manually to avoid conflicts on your wireless network and must be outside the range of the router DHCP.  After setting the IP address static, computer must be updated to show a Standard TCP/IP port with the IP address of printers under printer properties/Ports.

    1. Set a static in the printer IP address (click here) outside the range of the DHCP of the router (check your manual). It is for Linksys routers, but can be used for all routers. Check your DHCP range and change this first if necessary. More Help Wireless Printing is here and here and still more here.  Video here explains the problem and how to solve the problem. <-so watch it!
    2. Or check in the printer "Auto Off/sleep/Energy Saving Mode" is disabled the System Mode Time Out is set to zero (0) Use the built-in webserver (EWS) by visiting the printer address IP address in the address bar of your browser, click on settings tab/Auto Off. Or use the printer, printer Home Page (EWS) Wizard. Also check your printer properties.
    3. If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, disable the IPv6 option in the printer.
    4. Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a socket wall and not to a UPS, power strip or a lightning arrestor. This will cause the printer to drop offline connection and disconnection (checked yes!).

Hi @3427 and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see that you are having connectivity problems.  I would like to help!

I recommend you to perform a power reset.   Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

  • HP Envy 5532: Printer shows offline

I have a HP Envy 5532, and was connected by wirelessand successly worked fine but suddenly went "offline". The printer showed a wireless connection. I rebooted the PC and router without result. I since then connected the printer directly to the computer via the USB port and I can see it in Device Manager, but he remains firmly 'offline '. Help!

    Hey @AWA1947,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. I am pleased to hear that the USB connectivity issue has been resolved. With regard to the problem of wireless connectivity can I please have you follow the steps below to check if the computer and the printer are 'talk' on the network. Once that determine us if there is wireless I will guide you through the steps to resolve the error "offline."

Step 1: Remove the network copy:

Because the offline version of the network printer is not printing at all, I'll have you remove this copy.

    1. Open your menu Start by selecting the Windows icon at the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl key
    2. On the start screen, type devices and printers
    3. Click on devices and printers to the start
    4. In the printers and devices window, locate your copy HP Envy 5532 e-all-in-one printer (network) . Right-click on the network your printer copy and select "delete" or "remove an instrument."
    5. The only 5532 envy you want to display in this folder is the USB version.
    6. Once the network copy has been deleted please close the devices folder and printers

    Step 2: Check of connectivity:

Then, I will be having you check if your computer and printer communicate on the wireless network.

    1. On the front panel of your HP Envy, tap the Setup (key) button at the top right
    2. Under the Setup menu, touch Wireless option
    3. Touch Wireless details
    4. Take note of The IP address and the network name SSID
    5. On your computer Windows 8.1 Please check the wireless network that you are connected to ensure that your computer and the printer are connected to the same network. Avoid to connect to networks of comments. Also make sure that your printer and computer are connected to a network of 2 ghz. If you have a double router band it can broadcast connection times 2 GHz and 5 GHz. Printers are not based on connections to 5 ghz. If you don't know how to check this, you may need to speak with your router manufacturer.
    6. When it was confirmed that your printer and computer are on the same network, please open the internet browser on your computer
    7. In the address bar of please enter the printers IP address. Don't include not the www.
    8. Search this site. A Web site for your printer should now open. This is what we call the integrated webserver (EWS browser) printers
    • Opens a Web site for your printer: This confirms that your printer and your computer communicate successfully on the network. It is possible that the old copy of the printer on your computer network has a different IP address. If the IP address has changed on the printer, computers are designed to recognize this change and continue to work with your printer. However, in some cases computers will not 'see' the network printers more. In this case your printer will remain "offline" until the IP address under the software has been updated. Please proceed to step 4 below.
    • If a Web site for your printer does not open: This indicates that your printer and computer are not communicating. This may be due to your router blocks the communication, or invalid wireless configuration. Please proceed to step 3 below to resolve this issue.

    Step 3: Powercycle network:

    1. Start by unplugging the power cable to your router
    2. Once your router is unplugged, turn your printer off
    3. Then, shut down your computer
    4. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, reconnect your router
    5. Then, turn on your printer
    6. Turn on the computer

After a few moments, please check your computer to make sure that your internet connection is running again. Try browsing a few sites. Once the internet is to answer it please access the menu of configuration (key) on your printer again. In the Wireless menu please see wireless details and take note of the IP address. Once you have the IP address please try to access the site of the printers on your computer using the IP address.

    • If a Web site for your printer now opens correctly: That your printer and your computer communicate wirelessly once more. There is likely an update ran on your network that temporarily blocked the printer. Please proceed to step 4 below.
    • If a Web site for your printer still fails to open: Please see the Setup menu (key) on the front panel of your printer. Depending on the configuration of the menu go to Wireless menu. Select restore default network settings in the wireless Menu. Once the default network settings have been restored, please go to the Wireless Setup Wizard and follow these steps to reconfigure your printer. Once you have an IP address on your printer try to access the site of printers again. Should open a Web site now for your printer please proceed to step 4 below. If a Web site still fails to open, please do not continue troubleshooting at the moment.

Step 4: Reconfigure the network connection:

    1. On the desktop of your computer, please click on the HP Envy printer Assistant icon. It should look like this:

    2. once the software HP opens click utilities top

    3. click on the software and the configuration of the printer

    4. Select 'connect a new device '

5 follow the prompts on the screen to install your printer on a network

Once your network printer is installed successfully, please try wireless printing to check if the problem is now resolved.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • Printer offline wireless network

    Hello

I have a wireless network at home printer and a USB printer to the office. The scenario is like this.

I use a laptop with Vista.
At home, I put my printer wireless as a default printer.
I print some documents and everything's fine.
I go to the office and forget to change the default printer.
Of course, when I try to print it goes to the wireless printer which is now in offline mode.
Now when I go home and connect to the network, the printer is still showing in offline mode.
I expect the printer to launch the online display once connected to the home network.
I am not able to find a way to put online.
I tried turning the printer market and resume all documents.

The only way I found was to delete the printer and add it back into the printers menu. However, it's tidious.

Is there a simple solution to this problem? I get in this situation several times and need an easier solution.

(Note that my laptop is in hibernation when I close the lid. It is not completely stopped.)

    Thank you.

    Mike.

    Hi Hdhavali,

    Try this step.

    1. click on Start, type printers in the start search box and press ENTER. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently installed on your computer.

    2. double-click on the icon of the printer that you want to change online. It will open a pop-up window describing all current print jobs.

    3. go to "printer" in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck the box 'Use printer offline'. This action will change the printer from offline to online mode.

If that's not enough then you may need to delete and add a printer as you may have guessed.
