VM attached to the data store, but not in the config

I have a few virtual machines that show that they are attached to a store data, but when you look at the parameters of the client both in the vmx file there is nothing that refers to this data store.  And, to top it off, the data store is just a deposit of file I only download iso files to mount for CD-ROMs.  I have made sure that the iso is not mounted on the machine (of course) and have paid through any other part of the config, but still it shows attached to that store of data, by the customer and by a powercli script.

When you browse the data store, there is no folders or files on there that refer to this virtual machine.  I have about 10 machines all in this difficult situation.  Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hello..

VM snapshots come with a .iso mounted for them? If so, that would explain it...

    Hi all

I have a MacPro 5.1 I am under ESXi on via a USB key. The MacPro has 4 SATA drives configured as stores of data with VM on some of them.

When connecting to the ESX host through the 'connect to server' Fusion Pro I can see data banks but not the virtual machine.

The virtual machine can be seen on the ESX host, when connecting via SFTP.

  • data store is not big as the player

    Hello

    I just install ESXi 4.1 update 3 on my fujitsu rx300 S3 with 6x500GB ground mounted in a RAID5 configuration, 2 x 1.6 Ghz XEON 5110 and 8 GB of memory.

The ESX has been successfully installed except the data store: space it is not as big as the player: capacity data store 274 GB then as drive capacity 2, 5 TB.

The VMWARE KB to extend the data store does not work: it did not drive LUN.

I don't know how to extend the data store OR create a second, which will be accessible to another ESX.

    Thank you

Limit is 2 TB less 512 bytes for ESXi 4.1, trying to remove a 500 GB drive in RAID 5 configuration and try to create the data store.

  • Empty data store will not be in Maintenance mode

I have an empty data store, which is not in maintenance mode.

It hangs on 'Waiting for all the virtual machine files be migrated from data store'... which is an expression that is not even appear in Google.

    Capture.PNG

Here are the contents of the data store

    Capture2.PNG

I've migrated all guests who have been on it.  Disconnected the ISOs of the hosts that use and deleted all ISOs.

The related strange thing is that some of the guests who were on the data store are still showing as being connected to it.

    Capture3.PNG

Many assume that it is because she is always connected to an ISO image, but as you can see there is no ISO disk images and there is nothing to hide in these files.  I have not had no problem in removing the ISO images, and Yes, I have unplugged ISO images before fast vMotioning of customers.

Why they always think that they are connected to something I don't understand, but I suspect that it is one of the reasons for my data store does not in maintenance mode.

I'm under ESXi 5.1.0 799733 (custom build of IBM) on the BladeCenter HS22V blades.  Storage is connected by zFCP to a midsize v7000 IBM.

I assume that this is a bug in the system.  Please let me know if I'm wrong.

  • List of virtual machines in the data store but is not registered in the inventory

I have a perl script that can list all the virtual machines in a datasore given by using the HostDatastoreBrowser object.

However this only back vms who are registered. I want to be able to find images that have 'removed from the inventory' users but not destroyed on the data store.

I even reach this may by using the HostDatastorBrowser? If this is not the case, how can I achieve my goal?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can, but you may need to put the data in a different format. It is actually more a matter of perl a matter of VI Toolkit.

You must create the appropriate list, then use the PERL map function to evaluate an expr on the entire list. Personally I just use a foreach example statement.

  • Visible data VMFS store on 3 of the 6 armies. 3 the remaining hosts see LUNS, status is mounted, but the data store is not visible.

As the title suggests, all hosts see LUNS... can't understand the question. Here is a shot of the vmkernel.log captured from the server, as it was a new analysis (which translates into a loop of activity in the log file and hard + 10 minutes without change for storage).

The SAN is preesnting LUN and successfully... so it must be on the host side. In an act of desperation, yesterday I reinstalled ESXi on a troubled host. He was able to see the data stores. Today, they were more visible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Displacement of the VM attached to several data stores

ESX 5.1.  I'm moving from one SAN to another.  I have a Windows VM file server that is attached to the "OS" data store which is 100 GB (for the OS, program installation, etc.) and the data store 'Data' that is 500 GB (where the file real stock data is stored).  On the new San, I created new warehouses of data, "New_OS" and "See you."

What is the best way to move my data to the new data warehouses?  I know that I can use storage VMotion to move the virtual computer, but who will attempt to move the 'BONES' and 'Data' to 'New_OS' correct?  (Which of course will not work, since there is not enough space.)  I think that I have to remove 'Data' of the existing virtual computer, move it to 'See you' via a browser data store, move the computer virtual using VMotion, then add "you see?"  This sounds more complicated than it should be.  Am I missing something here?

    Thank you.

    Am I missing something here?

Yes, it lacks the 'Advanced' option in Storage vMotion which will allow that move you each hard to a data store different... to do this, just follow the screens of Storage vMotion and select the data store, click on advanced and for each virtual hard disk and virtual machine configuration file, select the data store you want.

Take a look at the documentation: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-51/index.jsp#com.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc/GUID-A15EE2F6-AAF5-40DC-98B7-0DF72E166888.html

Store the configuration of virtual machines and disks files in different places.

    one

    Click Advanced.

    b

For the virtual machine for each virtual disk configuration file, select Browse and select a data store or cluster storage DRS.

    c

(Optional) If you selected a cluster DRS for storage and do not use Storage DRS to this virtual machine, select Disable DRS storage for this virtual machine and select a store of data within the storage DRS cluster.

    d

    Click Next.

  • Storage DRS, move a virtual machine that is in the data store is not a member of DTS

    Dear all,

If I've set up storage DRS that contains, for example, DS1 and DS2. I have another virtual machine that resides on DS that is not part of the cluster of DTS. Can I move this virtual machine to one of the (DS1, DS2) data store? OR will some disruptions?

    Thank you

    Jocelyn,

Which is correct in both cases. You can leave DTS place it for you (which is my suggestion), but I thought you wanted it to go to a specific data store.  That being said you can reactivate the DTS for a virtual machine under the SDR change settings if you do not ever clear for a virtual machine

  • updates to iOS app show filled in the App Store but not apps actually updates

There's something strange happening very recently with the app on my iPhone and iPad updates. Two of them are on the latest version of iOS (9.3.2). Apps would show that they are updated in the App Store, but they are actually not updated. This is the second time that this has happened and I am writing this message I try to solve problems. The first time it happened I had to remove the app and reinstall it. I'm going...

    1. I opened the App Store.
    2. Press update of all.
    3. I saw the download of updates and the finish.
    4. Open the button is appeared next to the application in the list of updates.

    The problem:

    1. Applications will not open by typing open the button next to them.
    2. I went to the home screen and the applications in question are darker color.
    3. I typed on these applications and they changed the "Loading"... "which means that they have not actually completed the setting to.
    4. The apps started to download it again.
    5. Applications is is stuck in download.
    6. I turned both devices power off, then turn it back on.
    7. On my iPad: apps started to redownload and completed. Applications are now open.
    8. On my iPhone: applications made "Waiting."... "then"Loading"... "and have not finished downloading.

I'll post this and continue to wait for applications to download. I don't want to remove them and reinstall because they are multiple applications I would you connect again and synchronizes again that I find annoying. I'll try to update this post after the completed download apps, if they end up actually or if I'll end up resettlement.

I posted this at 09:00. It is now 16:45, and only one of the applications is completely downloaded. It is not a problem with the internet, because I can stream movies very well. Another application that has been "updated" this morning went dark. I typed it and it has been "Waiting."... "for 10 minutes now.

  • How offer you a Mac application that is in the App Store, but not in iTunes?

I found a Mac application, I want to buy a gift that is only sold on the App Store. Help Apple says we can do through the iTunes Store, but the only version for iOS, not for the Mac. I don't see anyway to gift an app on the App Store, and so for this Mac application, No. way to gift there.

    Any ideas?

Yes, it has no function of gift in the Mac App Store. You can use the iTunes app to buy a gift certificate e-mail for an amount close to the price of the app. Or you can buy and send an iTunes Gift Card available in many stores the.

  • Data store is not mounted automatically after updating the Firmware of the LSI

I've recently updated the card RAID LSI firmware on my ESXi 5.5 system (patched and update top of page)

When I rebooted, took place the following:

    1. the associated VMFS volume RAID was mounted

    2. the data on the volume store was not mounted

I mounted the data store manually and restarted my VMs

Do I have to re-signing the Volume and/or the data store to raise it properly.

The command should be ok and do the same thing as the command esxcli esxcli storage vmfs snapshot mount -l label|-u uuid (for details, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387).
