VM crashes shortly after a VMotion

I have a battery of ESX servers with 4 Proliant DL360G5 Dual Quad-core servers (all identical) with 32 GB of RAM. Data store is on a HP EVA and I have 30 VM is running currently. I just noticed that when I VMotion a machine from one host to another, everything seems fine after the VMotion. I can connect (or if I was already connected, I'm always connected. However, after about 2 minutes, the machine that I transferred crash and restart. The only indication of the problemis that there is a message in the virtual machine Windows event log, indicating that the last unexpected system stop. If I am connected to the Console, it becomes black just and restarts. Essentially, it's like I had reset the virtual machine.

Also has anyone seen this type of behavior?

I'm under ESX 3.5 Update 3 (build 123630)

Virtual Center is 2.5 build 119598

Thank you

This is a bug that was introduced in ESx 3.5 Update 3. It occurs only if you have activated Virtual Machine monitoring. What is happening is that the heartbeat is screwed up during a VMotion, so after 2 minutes the VM monitoring think that the virtual machine is broken, so HA kicks in and starts the application on another server. We had the same problem just after "redevelopment" update 3. After VMM it never happened again.

I was hoping that the new patches released today could solve the problem, but according to the changelogs this bug is not addressed. Incredible. I would have thought after the update 2 timebomb fiasco that quality control and tests would be important and that is something did pass through, a difficulty would come relatively shortly after.

First of all, you should have a backup strategy. After you get this all straightened out, start backing up regularly. Here are a few suggestions for this:
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

The data can be recovered even if you do not have Windows. I'll give you the methods at the end of this post. I will also say that if you're uncomfortable or unable to do anything, I suggest to solve this problem, you need to take the computer to a local professional with a good reputation. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. If you do this, be sure to say the professional to recover your data first.

That said, I do not understand why someone who says that it is not gifted in computer science would have downloaded/installed this particular program. What problems were you that you thought that the experience could be resolved with this program?

To resolve the immediate problem to get into Windows, you can get in Mode safe? To do this, repeatedly press the F8 key as the computer starts. That you will get to the diagnostic menu where you can choose Safe Mode. If you * can * get in Mode safe, try to set the computer to do a clean boot, and then try to boot into normal mode. The program you have installed may have also installed drivers low level starting with XP. Or it may have been other problems with the computer that you have not mentioned.

Let me know if you can get in Mode safe and what happens when you perform the clean boot.

To recover data without being able to get into Windows, the easiest way is topull the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB car adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd, or copy it to an external hard drive.

  • InDesign CS6 crashed shortly after opening a file

    Hello

I searched the web to answer this but have had no luck. I recently opened a file that was working fine but suddenly does not open. I opened the file INDD CS5 and decided to try the CS6 to see if it would work.

    Here's my process.

    1. I open the file
    2. 7 seconds after the file opens, I get the message "Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working"

I am sure that it is a matter of link of image or a police problem, but he invites not to replace fonts or find the images.

    Any suggestions?

We tried to open on the other two systems. Both open the file and Indesign falls down after about 7-8 seconds. Do you have a recommendation for a font manager that might help my situation?

  • Laptop HP 2000-120CA crashed shortly after reloading software factory

I've had this laptop for less than two years. He was always 'freeze' etc, trying to access other MSE or perform any function, and finally, it wouldn't start up.

I got original software of HP, several weeks ago, and with the help of a hp technician, I reinstalled the software and it worked fine. This computer is only a spare part that I use ipads for my needs, as listening to the radio or news

Yesterday, while in ms Explorer, the screen went black. I restarted computer and when he arrived at the "WELCOME" it became black again.

I then restarted the computer in safe mode and it starts correctly.

I have used records of repair that accompanies the computer nothing works.

I then reinstalled the software and has spent 15 hours doing so and now it works now, but for how long.

I had this laptop windows 7 for less than two years and have had no satisfaction with it, he still never replied.

What is my recourse, the warranty is over. I should have brought the computer within the time required by Best Buy, that the problems were present from the beginning.

  • Firefox crashes even after a clean install of Windows

    Hey!

My Firefox keeps crashing. It starts up ok, but still crashes shortly after. I do not see a pattern in accidents, it seems random. Strange thing is that I had this problem before with Win7 and now he persists after installation clean full of Win10. The two hard drives formatted, no old files or anything left... It crashes in safe mode, too. On Win7, I could get locked out of the browser. Sometimes he would start crashing whenever I started the browser. A reboot has allowed me to once again successfully launch Firefox, but it would soon break without worrying. He crashed on the clean install of Firefox and crashed after that I installed Adobe Flash.

The crash began perhaps a few days previously, I think not that a lot of it initially. Now, however, it drives me nuts; It is basically impossible to navigate. Firefox browser my go-to for years and I would rather go to another.

    Here are a few crash reports: 4b05df7c-24d3-49e3-a13f-c9d57aca3cf0 bp-775561fc-4d6c-48a5-8c6b-e3af42161108 43d377a7-ea92-4c37-b717-84a562cd2d36 bp-09b21c04-8640-44ed-a261-a98f12161108 bp-9726e46d-d041-4fba-b905-f92682161108 fb6d8a28-79c6-4cab-b4c1-096778ca49e8

You will appreciate all help to the problem.

Seems that the problem is solved by itself. Not a single accident today. I don't have any idea of that which could have fixed, or what caused it in the first place. Curious, but no matter, I'm a happy camper now. I wish all support forums it was effective.

Any ideas that I can do to make it work again?

I don't know, but maybe it's one of several cases in the latest version of Skype 7.0 is not able properly to interpret data from the BIOS. At least, that was the issue with the cases already reported with this error message:

    Exception code: 0xc0000005

    Offset: 0x00d527d7

A fix may be available in one of the next versions of Skype. In the meantime, the solution is to uninstall version 7.0 and install the 6.21.0.104 previous version.

  • Iomega HSM stall shortly after startup

I have an Iomega 1 TB Hsm working successfully on my network 2 PC for at least 4 years. Mainly I access it from my Windows 7 PC. It is mainly used for the backup.

Normally it appears in Windows Explorer as distinct from 5 or 6-drive external, indicating each the same maximum and storage used.

Today a bunch of afterinitial time, all "readers" has disappeared from Windows Explorer and all other list file/folder. All that remained was a record called 'Photos' displayed in the network category.

I tried to restart the HSM and found that the power button had no effect, so I simply had to pull on the power cord. The HSM exploded, like the white LED. When I plugged back it it after a few minutes, the blue LED still did not come. Then I restarted the PC and everything is back to normal - for a short period.

I did this procedure several times during the day, with the same result each time - normality for a few minutes then failed.

Tonight I looked with that community site and found a response on May 11, 2013, a similar problem by bshadid.

    1. I followed the first stage of the response by directly connecting the HSM to my PC and without going through the router. I turned on both devices, but has seen no sign explicit of the HSM startup. Nor did he ask me for an APiPA address. All 5 or 6 "readers" will appear in Windows Explorer without any specific action from me.
    2. However, I used the arp-a command Windows twice or more to get what I assumed to be the APiPA address you want - 00-d0-b8-09-dc-84
    3. When I tried to use this address in Internet Explorer to access the HSM, it was rejected.
    4. Hoping that I had healed but the problem, I reconnected the HSM and PC separately to the router and restarted both. NOT GOOD!

The only thing I've ever done is update the driver for the HSM, even if I'm working on Windows 7, while the HSM seems to date from the time of Windows XP. I dared not do this because update instructions warn against the danger of losing files to update, and I have nowhere to save data outside the HSM itself!

Another possibility, I thought, is that the partition (?) backups of the HSM could have a limitation of the size that has now been exceeded. But Windows does not give me access to this information.

Most important developments since I posted my question:

It's clearly a hardware failure: there is shortly after the restart of the HSM, a clicking sound coming from the unit, and 5 out of the 6 'readers' disappear again in Windows Explorer.
I'm going to buy a new device and I hope as the old one remains alive long enough for me copy at least the most important of the old data.

My laptop screen is blackened or shaded, but to work. Something is darkening up shortly after departure. What should I do?

The backlight that run on the screen is burned.  This isn't something that you can fix because it involves disassembly of the computer and parts are not generally available.  It's a hardware problem.  You need to take your computer to a repair store to fix this problem.  If the computer is in power saving mode, that there is no display at all, shines a flashlight on it would reveal a slightly glossy, empty, black screen.

  • mousepad closes shortly after startup

shortly after that I get on the internet, my pointer, which is a buffer of finger directly on my laptop is locked up.  If I power my computer then turn it back, it works but quits shortly after.

Check with the manufacturer of your PC for the new drivers for the mouse.
