VM from esx 5.1 to 5.5 unable to have more then 8 CPU cores

Hi all

I had a virtual esx 5.1 machine that had 8 vcpu hearts.

I moved it to a new host with esx 5.5. The new host has 16 physical cores so I want my VM to have access to all of them.

I've corrected the license so now my VM should get all 16 of them. Successfully, I can create a new virtual machine that has access to all the processor cores and turn on.

But when I tried to change my VM settings I always get the same number of cores: 8.

I don't have a vCenter. The move has been accomplished by copying the vmx file and vmdk more to the new host and then right-click on the .vmx and selecting "add to the inventory.

anyone seen this before?

Thank you

Ok

then upgrade your hardware to fear to version 9 (vmx-09).

If you create the snapshot before you upgrade you can undo all changes if you want, so I'll try to go for HW version 10.

When you change your virtual machine, which is selected for OS on the Options-> General Options tab?

Kind regards

P.
