  I've already upgraded to vCenter 2.5 to 4.1, now I'm upgraded by train from esx 3.5 to esx 4.1 and all of the articles and videos that I have read say that I need to download the upgrade zip file and do the upgrade through VMware host update utility (as I am only upgrade 2 hosts).

  However, when I try to download the zip file, the only option I get is

  ESX 4.1 Update 1 (updated the ZIP of ESX 4.0)
  Use this package with vCenter Update Manager 4.1 U1 or vihostupdate vCLI or esxupdate command line to upgrade ESX ESX 4.0 to ESX 4.1 update 1.

  Which allows an upgrade to version 4.0 (or if she says).  Can I use this zip file?

  In my view, an error in the above steps.

  Are you using ESX and ESXi, you will need to download ESX 4.1 install ISO for upgrade from ESX3.5 to ESX4.1 driver

  You must use vCenter Update manage or esxupgrade.sh for upgrade. No other tool as vihostupdate, host update utility etc. are not supported.

  Hi all

  I am trying to upgrade my servers ESX 4.0 to 4.1, but I'm running into an error.

  I did the following:

  (1) download the update1a package and copied to the ESX host in the /upgrades folder

  (2) put the host in Maintenance Mode

  (3) connected to the host via putty

  Navigated 4) in the folder with the copied update

  (5) run the following commands: esxupdate - stage ESX410 - 201010001.zip bundle

  (6) restarted ESX host, again executes the command, still the same error.

  When I run the command, I get the error the server below.

  ESX410-201010001.zip                              #################################################################### [100%]
  The following problems have been encountered in trying to solve the dependencies:
  Does not provide any VIB ' DriverAPI-9, 1' (required by rpm_vmware-esx-drivers - scsi -
  fnic_400.1.1.0.113.2-4vmw.0.1.320092@x86_64)
  No VIB provides "libipmi.so" (required by rpm_vmware - esx-
  apps_4.1.0-0.1.320092@i386)
  Asked rpm_vmware-esx-pam-config_4.1.0-0.1.320092@i386 VIB conflicts with

  The package you have there are a lot of patches for ESX 4.1, you are currently on the 4.0.

  You will need to upload the complete bundle of upgrade to 4.1 from the download site instead of the one you have.

  If you're upgrading from the command line, there is a bundle of pre-upgrade you will have to install first of all, when you use the Update Manager is not necessary.

  I have a slight problem with all of my ESX 4.0 host. After the upgrade from ESX 3.5 4.0 the below error has popped up.

  Material:

  Firmware HP C3000 Blade chassis OA 2.32

  BL G5 465 Bios Rev A13

  2 x AMD Quad 2356

  24 GB of RAM.

  Error:

  TSC: 1137350434cpu0 ) NUMBER: 827 hitting detected imbalance between NUMA nodes.  Performance may be affected.

  I tried searching the forums for those who have the same problem but I had no luck.  Anyone who has ever run into something like this?

  Hi Ron,

  Have you looked at article in the Knowledge Base using the search in Firefox bar? There are lots of good information in there. You happen to have an installed Yahoo! toolbar? You must disable or delete as well if you do. Try to start Firefox in Mode safe mode by holding down the SHIFT key while starting Firefox. If you have any problems using the safe, it's a matter of add-on or extension.
