vmrun suspend problem of VMware Player

I've been using VMware workstation for a while but recently switched to VMware player 3.0, (largely because of the irritating instllation problems for Workstation 6.5.3 under Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64).

With my computer, I use the vmrun command close all my virtual machines.

Despite downloading the latest version of Vmware-vix (1.8.1), vmrun suspend & lt; path to the vmx file & gt; generates this error message:

Unable to connect to the host

Error: Type of Service VIX_SERVICEPROVIDER_VMWARE_WORKSTATION

My reading of the documentation seemed to suggest that vmrun must work with the player as a workstation. Please could someone help me understand what ' I'm missing here?

Thank you very much

Enter the code < code > < code > here you use the t on vmrun indicator to indicate that the target is a vmware player? :

< Code >-T < hostType > (ws| ) Server| server1 | fusion| esx| vc| Player )< code >

I was able to run suspend with:

<code>$ vmrun -T player suspend /export/vmware/cmp/cmp.vmx

</code>

It is with the version of the player (3.0.0 build-203739) included in VMWare Workstation 7 (on Ubuntu 9.10).

    Can someone help me please?

I have two questions, but here's the background. I run a virtual machine using VM Player with Enterprise Server 2008 x 64 as my OS and Windows 7 on the client system. The version of the player that I use is the 3.0.1 and am not able to upgrade to a newer version that the virtual machines created on the new version won't be compatible with the rest on 3.0.1.

Question 1: I get the following error message:

"Could not get the driver vmci version: the handle is invalid.".

You have an incorrect version of the driver 'vmci.sys '. Try reinstalling VMware Player.

Power DevicePowerOn module has failed. »

I uninstalled the software and reinstalled again, download the software from vmware download sit and still get the same error message. I also entered in the configuration of the .vm file and changed the settings vmciio:present from true to false. Should I do this?

Question 2: Now the virtual machine is not recognizing the CDROM. I tried to use the real player allocated on the client system and also let the virtual machine automatically select, the two ways fail. I looked through other forums that show screen shots of how to fix this problem, unfortunately the screen with what I presented is different from that in demonstration.

Any help would be fantastic, thank you.

    Welcome to the community,

I don't know, but what you can try is to:

1st edition.) Can you confirm you changed the setting vmci0.present = 'false' with the virtual machine properly closed - not suspended - and VMware Player closed.

2nd edition.) In settings of the virtual machine CD-ROM, click on the button "Advanced...". "and enable"Legacy Emulation"see if that helps.

If the above does not help, please report (attached) file vmware.log of the virtual machine to a response message.

  • Problem installing VMware Player

I wanted to install VMware Player for some time, but whenever I tried to install it on my computer, I found a bug in the installation script.

Immediately after you click 'Next' on the "Installation of VMware Player" screen, I get a "script error":

After this error message, the installation hangs at this point.

I use it on a Windows 7 desktop machine.

Have experience you this problem?  What are my options for installation?

I appreciate any help you can lend.

Do yourself a huge favor and change the MS beast by default folder %TEMP%.  Remove the user folder-specific and TMP % environment variables so just leave the system those - who are the shortest paths and don't contain strange characters, which will often screw up installers.

    OK, I'm back to zero:

    -creates "c:\temp".

    -copy of VMware-player - 3.1.2 - 301548.exe in c:\temp

    -executes the command "c:\temp\VMware-player-3.1.2-301548.exe/e c:\temp\player".

  • CentOS 7 in VMWare Player 7 bug report

    Hello

Don't know if this is the right place to post so please let me know if I'm in the wrong place, but I've been hit problems with VMWare Player 7 installation of CentOS and Ubuntu:

I had several problems with anything CPU intensive while trying to set up a CentOS 7

Workstation inside VMWare Player 7.  This is a new KDE workstation installation out of the box

with maven installed via yum.  The system has been fully updated via # yum update.

This problem happens every time I try to compile Apache spark 1.1.0 with maven.  However, it seemed

be the case with other applications, including the GNOME desktop.  I tried the MATE as office

Well and still have the problem.

    Environment:

    Host:

    VMWare Player 7.0.0 build-2305329

    Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit 6.1.7601, Service Pack 1

    4 core CPU AMD64

    16 GB OF RAM

    Comments:

    CentOS-7, 0-1406-x86_64 (installation of KDE)

    2 carrots

~ 11 GB of RAM (tried with different values)

    HARD DRIVE 60 GB

A CPU intensive causes this deadlock.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1 install CentOS-7, 0-1406

2 $ sudo yum install maven

3 update of $ sudo yum

4 Download spark 1.1.0 Apache sources of http://spark.apache.org/downloads.html and uncompress

    5 $ cd spark - 1.1.0

    $6 export MAVEN_OPTS = "" - Xmx2g - XX: MaxPermSize = 512 M - XX: ReservedCodeCacheSize = 512 m ""

    $7 mvn - Pyarn - Phadoop - 2.2 - Dhadoop.version = 2.2.0 - DskipTests clean package

Finally, the machine hangs, and a hard reset is required.

I don't know if it's a question of CentOS, a core issue or, more likely, a matter of VMWare Player.

  • Virtual machines VMware Player 6.0.3 gel.

I had a problem with VMware Player 6.0.3. All my guests freeze finally after awhile. This seems to happen more often with my Linux VM rather than my windows VM. The two become very annoying.

I tried to adjust memory and its use, but it doesn't seem to work.

My temporary solution is only a pause virtual machines and run again. Graphics performance are poor thereafter.

Someone at - it experience something like this?

    Hi Jmattson,

It seems to me I found the problem and it is fixed. I had added the following line to the VMX file:

    sound.bufferTime = "200".

Apparently, the problem can be associated with buffer as I had very chopped him reading audio and video of the virtual machine just before it freezes. This may be due to move from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 as a host operating system.

  • VMware Player 5.0.2 does not see the wireless adapter

    Hello guys,.

I'm having a problem with VMware Player 5.0.2 build-1031769 (the same exist with older versions of VMware Player 5 but it's the only one I currently have).

The drive does not recognize my network card Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN wireless on a laptop Lenovo T410. I have an another T410 with Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6200 AGN and it works fine.

    Here are the symptoms:

-When using NAT networking it works fine

-When I use open networking, the guest (in this case, Windows XP) operating system said that the cable is disconnected

-J' found a few threads saying that this could be a router problem, but it's not because with the other computer laptop in the same network, everything works well

-When I connect to the network using the work of connection LAN (cable) filled without problem

-My Network on the host operating system works without any problem

-Windows recognize the adapter wireless without any problem:

    Device Manager.jpg

-VMware Player does not display the adapter in the transition parameters but shows a kind of virtual map of Microsoft:

    VM Bridging Settings.jpg

-When I run the virtual network Editor is the same: no real but adapter Microsoft virtual card

    Virtual.jpg

-J' tried to reset the default network configuration, but this did not help

I am running Windows 8 Enterprise.

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Have you looked in the host properties for the wireless NETWORK card see if the VMware Bridge Protocol client is installed?  If this isn't the case, add (the inf file must be in the folder that player is installed).

  • Use of VMware Player without head with vmrun?

After you install the VMware Player 3.1.0 and VIX 1.9.0 on a Linux (Ubuntu 10.4) host, I try to start a virtual machine that can continue to operate even when the console application is not visible (headless mode), kind of like how VMware Server does things.

I am able to do the following:

vmrun t player beginning ~/vmware/server1/server1.vmx nogui

It does exactly what I want, but as soon as I call "vmplayer" in order to access the console, I can't do a closed process without my VM vmplayer is either turned off or suspended - I would like to continue to run.

I want a way to be:

    1. run an application of type console (vmware-server-console in VMware Server v1 (a) to establish a connection to the vmx process running my virtual machine; or,

    2. specify that when I "quit" vmplayer, the virtual machine must continue to operate (as if you could specify something like pref.vmplayer.exit.vmAction = "detach") in the preferences file.

    Any ideas?

In fact, oops, I assumed that too. You can try setting the following in your preferences file:

    pref.vmplayer.exit.vmAction = 'disconnect '.

who should have the same effect. I thought that was represented in the user interface, but I was wrong.

    I hope this helps!

  • Vmrun fails with VMware Player

    Hello

I am currently using VMware Player version 7.1.2 and VIX version 1.13

I want to start my VM using vmrun VIX, unfortunately when I type in the command line, the following command:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

It will give me something like this:

Unable to connect to the host.

Error: The specified version is not found

I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?

For the mention I don't want to not buy or even to install VMware Workstation as I had a lot of trouble with it in the past (I had to do a system restore to get rid of) uninstall.

OK, managed to make it work, here's how:

    1) there is a vixwrapper config.txt file in the folder VMware\VMware VIX. Make a backup and overwrite the following on the content of the file:

    #@Version-Info
    #
    # VixAllProducts revision mapping for Workstation/Player
    #
    # This file translates product version specifications into the appropriate Vix
    # implementations.
    #
    # Each @Version-Info line has 5 white-space seperated entries:
    #
    # provider-type: ws, esx, viserver, etc
    # apiVersion: the apiVersion supported, as passed in from VixHost_Connect()
    # ipc-type: none, vmdb, vmodl, cim
    # product-version: the product version string
    #
    # implementation-directory: the path to the library that implements the
    # version described by the first 4 parameters
    #
    #
    # The configuration is based on the first 4 fields, which describe
    # the product. The 5th field is the location. To force it to try
    # multiple location, the same configuration can be repeated. Note that
    # list is built in LIFO order, so the latest entry in the configuration
    # will be the first used. If for some reason that value fails, it will
    # continue through any other matches.

    # Workstation 11.1.2 and Player 7.1.2
    ws 17 vmdb 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    player 17 vmdb 7.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    ws-shared 17 none 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0

    # EOF

    (2) if there is a folder named "workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0" then move elsewhere as a backup

    (3) make a copy of the folder "Desktop - 10.0.0 - and-vSphere - 5.5.0" and name it:

    Workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0

    (4) do not forget to add the vmrun path to the variable user: PATH (the vmrun path should be something like this: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware")

Now the vmrun commands should work.

The following command opens the virtual machine:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

  • problem of graphics screen in OSX Mountain Lion - VMWare Player on Windows

WIndows 7 or Windows XP, when you use VMWare Player with Mac OS X Lion mountains or the Mavericks, there is a problem of graphical layout.

    I noticed this twice already:

    1. in the system preferences when you try to change the personal image for users and groups. You can see your own image, but trying to change the image of the drop-down list page shows only a blank page. Nevertheless, he is content. When you tic on the blank page, you can change the image, but without visual reference.
    2. I tried iWeb Design in Mac OSX Mavericks. The same situation. By choosing a layout you see a blank page, but it is contained. Try adding that an image or a text always results in a blank page on the screen.

No idea how to solve this problem?

VMware does not support the operation of Mac OS X in VMware Player/workstation!  Also, legally virtualisables versions of OS X running in a Virtual Machine cannot be done when done in the Apple brand hardware but when done while running under OS X and for that you have VMware Fusion of VMware Player/Workstation or you violate Apple's SLA for this product.  So any help can you provided for OS X in this use of the scenarios that it would violate the community VMware operating conditions to do.

  • Problems of VMware in Linux player graphics

    Hey all.

Don't know if what it the area proper for this discussion but couldn't find better either.

I am trying to run vmware payer on a computer host Linux Mint. (Based on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy).

When I create a new machine he complains about not 3d graphics and accelerator available.

"Hardware graphics acceleration is not available.

"No 3D support is available from the host"

I have the latest drivers Intel open source for my on-board graphics (sys Board H87M-HD3 with Intel graphics card) and Mesa installed for the open-gl, player does not seem to recognize this. Has anyone met and solved these problems.

    Thank you

    Rob.

Edit: moved to VMware Workstation to VMware Player

Apparently, the Mesa DRI driver is blacklisted by the vmware.log...

Disabling the 3D on this host because of the presence of the Mesa DRI driver.  Set mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = true to Overrides.

If you set the option indicated to substitute it.  This option, mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = TRUE, probably should be set in the preferences file (/ home/rob/.vmware/preferences) but you can also try the virtual machine in the .vmx config file.

Post edited by: WoodyZ BTW I do not know why VMware has updated the index of Mesa drive and set the above option might have the potential to cause a kind of instability, so make sure that you are correctly saved and set the option and testing.

  • VMware Player 6.0.1: Howto from command line, for example, where is vmrun?

    Hello

I installed VMware Player 6.0.1 on openSUSE 3.1 by using the serial number that I received with Fusion Professional 6.0.2.

Virtual machines spin if they are started through the user interface, but I would like first of all to them via command line.

Question: How can I start virtual machines from the command line? I've read that vmrun must do the job but I can't find this command.

Did a search on my system: no file vmrun lie.

Any idea where I get vmrun of?

    Thanks for your help,

It is installed separately and is available under the tab drivers & tools of the VMware Player download page.

  • VMware player 5 - connection in bridge problem

    Hi all!

I am writing because I have a very big problem with the network bridged in Vmware player 5.0.2. No matter what I do it just would not work. NAT and host options only work very well and there is no problem with them. My NIC has vmware bridge Protocol, 'automatic connection settings' and "virtual network editor" is set on this particular card. The only thing I can think is firewall (Norton 360) that can block the connection but all of the vmware software components are allowed to work and NAT service works, so I don't know if this could be the case. I would be very grateful for any advice.

I have attached the PDF with screenshots showing my configuration.

Norton PS options are in Polish, but they essentially say that Vmware is allowed and that inbound netBIOS' / netBIOS name "communication and communication incoming/outgoing ICMP is blocked.

P.S in case of faults of vocabulary and that I'm sorry. p

No, NIC in the host is virtualized / ripped off by the monitor of machine virtual and presented to the customer in a standard way - always cable.  It doesn't matter if the host is using wired or wireless.  Was just letting you know that you can use specific tools wireless in your guest on a virtual NETWORK adapter in this way.  The only way to get into a wireless client is to use a USB wireless adapter and attach that to the guest.  There will of course have to then the drivers for the USB NIC you use.

Post edited by: wila, changed 'keyword' in "keyboard" to make more people understand the problem in reading the title of the topic.

@abirhasan, how is this going "look at what's new" to help him? What I see out there, there is not a known issue?

@javier, I guess you know that on an asus these keymappings means that the keypad is enabled via numlock?

It is most likely going to be enabled/disabled via holding the fn key and another key...

    Basically this problem:

The question now is if your asus laptop has a num lock key to change this? (It is more likely, the problem is that it is)
