VMServer 2, não desliga VMs ao Desligar o host

OLA a todos,

Estou com um problema serio.

I have some servidores ligados a non-pauses e gerenciavies em falta luz caso, o servidor (host) gift sinal para desligar. O host computers, virtual, appears a mensagem win2008 informed that o servidor faith desligado desliga background, very, quando vou access incorretamente. ISSO e, ele nao gift o sinal para desligar (invited).

No VMServer, esta configurado para iniciar automatically VMs, apos uma outra, apos 20 segundos. Para desligar, 0 segundos, metodo "turn off". Em todas tenho o VMTools wont.

Era para funcionar, product? Devo fazer algo but? Host nao leva nem 1 minuto para desligar... Tempo da com certesa as VMs desligarem nao para... Como Saber is esta running?

Você tem as trocar o Método "power off" por "shutdown".

No 'power off' desligar vai simplesmente of ele a VM, como is voce tivesse "tirado o cabo of forced da vm.

No "shutdown" ele vai iniciar o processo shutdown product reviews

Québec Espero a resposta ainda seja util.

  • Unable to start x 64 VMs on nested ESXi host

    Hi gurus,

I would ask your expertise on the question with my ESXi nested 5.1 checking. I managed to install the nested ESXi host, but I can't start a x 64 VMs. I continue to ask me what follows:

    x64.PNG
    Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
    DH77EB
    EBH7710H.86A.0100.2013.0312.1351
Virtualization / VT - x is already enabled in the BIOS.
Turn off the Bit is also activated.
verified the host physical and NestedHVSupported set to TRUE
added vhv.enable = "true" on the physics of the host \etc\vmware\config
    created nested ESXi VM
original operating system is any other 64 bit
Once the virtual machine is created, I changed the OS to VMware ESXi 5.x (experimental)
NX/XD flag is already set to expose
    added - H - mask CPU; ECX
Adds the following on the nested ESXi vmx file:
    Monitor.virtual_mmu = "hardware".
    Monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".
    VHV. Enable = "true".
    monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = 'true '.
    Thanks in advance!

According to the journal of the ESXi VM file, its configuration (.vmx) file does not contain the vhv.enable = "true" entry. Only the configuration file contains, that was how it should be done in ESXi 5.0, but not in ESXi 5.1.

Try to add the entry to the ESXi VM and make sure you reload the configuration (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1026043) before turn VM ESXi.

  • Modify the script to manage multiple VMs in Vcenter or host - IOPS / s IOstats

    Native of:

    http://derek858.blogspot.com/2011/06/PowerCLI-script-to-dump-VM-IO-stats.html

This script works very well for a VM that is unique to collect iostats, IOPS max...

I would like a version which will create a CSV file for all the VM on Vcenter server, and I couldn't quite make it work with only 1 output file (and not a bunch of them). Another option would be to each HOST server.

I think that it will be converted into a function called for each active guest VM.
Then I would like a way to plan his schedule to start the collection of statistics. I hope WIn 2008 on-demand tasks can do this for me.

    Any help appreciated.

  • ESXi 4 VMs migration from one host to another without HA

We are facing a problem of automatic migration with VM ESXi migration between hosts in the cluster. Even though we have disabled HA and no reason apparent for migration. We have two virtual machines residing on a host, and the host does not work normally. However, I have noticed that when we have turned off or the other virtual machines and once again, he climbs to another host in the cluster.

The host tasks log shows now that the migration has been made by the SYSTEM when the power on. And once one of the virtual machines migrated even without power and with a similar journal entry showing that this has been done by the system. This can happen due to a shortage of resources on the host computer even if HA is disabled or are there other reasons that this can happen?

    Hello

I'm sure that's the reason for your behavior described.

No, he would not have to be identical.  No matter what CPU Intel x 64 of this vintage, or later would be compatible with EVC (well well, with the exception of Atom).  You need only an identical processor for tolerance to failures.

  • Corrupt VMs after power outage during the moved file

Hi all, hope someone can help me here. I have a server ESXi 5 run here at home I play with. My Web server and some other vms for development are hosted here. Today, I bought a new hard drive of the server. I have all closed, open the folder, hooked up the reader. Booted back and made the new drive (2 TB), a data store. Then I went into the store of data browser for the old data store and clicked on each VM folder, and click the button "move to". I chose the new data store and copy. Naturally, he said it would take SEVERAL hours. I let it go. Well apparently I doesn't not hang all tight and while doing other work at the office, I struck the loose power and the system went down during the move. When I started back I couldn't use virtual machines. They have all said inaccessible!

I tried to copy the files to the original location, but then esx complains that the vmdk is not a valid file. Is it possible to retrieve one of these virtual machines, or do I have to discard and start again? Please tell me there is a way to get back!

I'm afraid there is not much you can do, except a call open with VMware to see if they have a chance or a tool to retrieve the Basic virtual disk file.

In the log file, there are these two lines:

    2011 10-28 T 04: 01:31.886Z | VMX | DISKLIB-VMFS: VmfsExtentCommonOpen: as much as possible truncation (?) realSize is 1294136, descriptor size 1258291200.

which basically says the vmdk of base/flat has been corrupted. (For size of file in bytes, you must multiply the dimensions indicated with 512)

Other VMware call, you could create a new virtual disk and restore your last backup data.

  • Conversion of 4i VMs on ESX 3.5 ESX

We are preparing to install ESXi on a new Dell R710 server. We have 3 guests ESX 3.5 running in production. I am trying to decide whether to install ESXi 3.5 or ESXi 4. We want virtual machines that are running on the ESXi box to migrate ESX 3.5 cluster if necessary. I looked the Converter release notes and sees no ESXi as a platform to source converter supported. He said vSphere 4, but I wasn't as sayint that esxi 4 has been supported.

So... If we want configuration VMs on our ESXi host and migrate running on ESX 3.5, should we simply install ESXi 3.5 or can converter downgrade our VMS in ESXi 4 ESX 3.5.

Let me know what your experiences have shown you.

    Thanks, Aubrey

So... If we want configuration VMs on our ESXi host and migrate running on ESX 3.5, should we simply install ESXi 3.5 or can converter downgrade our VMS in ESXi 4 ESX 3.5.

ESXi is a supported source and destination for VMware Converter.  When we support "ESX" This includes ESXi and "ESX Classic" people have come to know.

In regards to moving between versions... If you use vCenter 4.0 to manage these hosts, you can migrate them using the context Menu option "migrate."

The only restriction is to ensure that all virtual machines are built to specifications ESX 3.5.  i.e. vHardware 4 and no. thin disks.

  • Allocation of memory in ESXi 3.5 problem

    Hello

Before I switched to using ESXi 3.5 to host my VM guest, I used VMware Server 1.0.6 to the guest virtual machines. However, I think that

the VMServer could not allocate correct memory that I specified in the virtual machine settings, for example, I put 3 GB of memory to a guest

OS, but I found that only 1200 MB of memory was allocated in the ohter handler.

So I now use ESXi 3.5 to host 3 VMs, ESXi 3.5 host has 8 GB of memory, two of these VMs have the allocation of memory 1 800 MB and 4 GB.

However, on ESXi console, I found that me, the 'use of memory of comments' are only 450MB and 778 MB only.

It's really out of my expectation, it seems that the memory on the VMware product management is the same.

Does anyone know how fix memory use such as ESXi comments will not control the dynamic memory allocation?

In our case, it is not necessary to adjust the consumption of memory intelligently by ESXi from time to time.

I have attached some screenshots for your reference to screen and hope that the screens are useful to explain the problem.

Thank you for your kind attention,

    Raymond

It is possble to use memory locking of operating system invited in a fixed allowance?

    Is called memory reserve.

You can do this under settings of the computer virtual (tab "resources") or by using the list of resources.

  • Specifications for a new installation of Foglight a GREAT environment vSphere

    Hello all-

New Foglight for Enterprise Virtualization and we try to implement a test to see how it performs in an environment of our size.

We have worked with the representatives of Dell/Quest/Foglight but so far have not been able to get very far in the correctly "tweaking" for usable performance. so I'm tender hand to everyone here for some thoughts.

We currently have a large enough vCenter with over 7400 VMs, 20 + data centers, hosts 450ish, across the country.  It's a 5.1Update1 environment and the vCenter and related services (VC, SQL, VUM, SSO, WebClient) are all Windows 2008R2 machines virtual on a cluster dedicated to ESXi 2 nodes and all virtual machines to vSphere have all the power in the world to run it.  vSphere itself works well.

For our Foglight install (the last FfVE v7) consistes of 3 virtual machines.  A FMS server, a SQL Server (2008R2 - dedicated not shared SQL DBs w / any other) and an Agent of vSphere server.  We threw all kinds of resources to this as well - but performance is so bad that it is simply not usable and we have not even present all 7 k + VMs... It is only arount k 5 of them.

    All are Windows 2008R2-

VSphere VM Agent has been configured for 4 vCPUs and 12 GB of RAM.  It is on the same network segment and same physical host vCenter so it can work on the same vSwitch and did not have excessive network traffic between the two.  The disk is SAN IBM XIV with 8 GB HBAS.

The SQL VM is 6 vCPUs and 12 GB of RAM.  Another host, network different segmant and different SAN storage IBM XIV.  This SQL Server computer runs ONLY the DB FL.  The DB is locked to 8 GB of RAM, original disc it size 250 GB and there are a lot of drive.  The vDisk is THICK put into service and latency in the standards.

The FMS server is on a host dedicated - no other guests running on it (for good troubleshooting purposes has not made difference).  He has all the army all processors to himself, has 32 GB of RAM, the virtual machine's memory is all locked/reserved.

For all three computers virtual, the vCPUs are not competing, time LOANS are low, there is no memory sharing, balooning, or Exchange and the disks are thick with low latency.

The FMV of the Agent from the server vSphere is set to 8GB min/max.

The FMS server JVM is located at 12 GB min/max.

So you see, we gave er everthing she has, but it is VERY VERY VERY SLOW.  To the point, it is completely unusable.

As a comparison - VMware vCenter Operations manager is a VAPP 2 - VM, has access to the same vSphere with the same objects and it works perfectly fine and smooth.

My gut tells me there is something not right in the JVM, but I don't know enough.

    Help, please!

If you have time next week, we can discuss?  I've worked with a lot of large environments and I would like to see the details of what's going on before I comment in too much detail to lead you down a path or another.

  • Report on the use of the VM UC of "user created host group.

    Hi all
I'm new to vFoglight and tries to get a grip of reporting. Can someone advise whether or not you can create a CPU / report mem on VMs grouped in a host group created by the user?
Whenever I use a report, and then select my host group in the services list settings option is grayed out. Is there an easier way to report on groups of virtual machines without explicitly having the list of people?
Any info would be great, well done.

    Hi Ms...
There are so many ways to build vFoglight reports, it is probably best for you to call in and open an evidence in support. In this way, you can have 1-on-1 interaction with an engineer who could look at what you need to accomplish and point you in the right direction...

  • Migrate to new hardware of 5.1 to 6.0

    Hi all

I foresee a great migration in our VMware environment. I want to spend all the virtual machines in an environment 5.1 to 6.0 with new hardware environment.

Details: existing environment: two hosts with ESXi 5.1, an iSCSI SAN, and a 5.1 on 2003 VM Server vCenter. New environment: two with 6 ESXi hosts and a new iSCSI SAN.

I found this interesting thread: migration to the blow by blow of 5.5 to 6.0 by using new materials and fresh install. and from there, I thought the following might work:

    1. Create a new vCenter on one of the new hosts using Windows Server R2 2012
Now, I should have a new vCenter to manage a single host.
    2. Remove a former host of the former vCenter and add it to the new vCenter.
      1. Move all the VMs from the old host to the new host and remove the old host after moving virtual machines.
      2. Repeat for the second former host.
    3. Add the new second host to vCenter.
Now, I should have a new vCenter 6 with two ESXi 6 hosts running all my virtual machines, right?

Question: What is the best way to move files VM from the old to the new San SAN?

I think I have two possibilitys (correct me if I'm wrong):

    1. Use vStorage Motion to move VMs old host and storage for two new
Question: should the new host access iSCSI also the old SAN or simply for the new San?
    2. Browser data store allows to move the files to the new data store
Question: should the new host access iSCSI also the old SAN or simply for the new San?

Which would be best? My virtual machines have an average size of 50 GB except a few Windows VMs with about 100 GB and my file with 1.2 to server.

If you have any other ideas, I'm open to any suggestion.

    Concerning

    Chris

Same storage must be accessible on both hosts make VM vMotion and once that virtual computers running on new host, storage vMotion to migrate virtual machines from old to new DS DS.

You can also try VM host and storage migration toghter using the web client to move virtual machines from the old host and DS, but especially first option is preferable.

  • Ask for help in vSphere HA

    Hi community

    Thank you GS

I still did not understand how I can put a limit for virtual computing only not to exceed the resources of physical calculation for exempel I want not vCPU more than pCPU host failure.

Lets assume that I have 3 guests with 8 Jepp by host. each host allocated 3 VMs with 2VPCU so it's not on subscription by host which is what I want

I case of a failure of the two host will be more stocked with vCPU than Jepp. How can I avoid it bothers me not for the latest VM which will cause more subscription be turned off and not start in the new host.

    Thank you

Reserves will ensure that virtual machines are getting the resources assigned to them. Virtual machines without reservations will start and get what's left. If they HA admission control enabled, HA will not allow VMs boot if the host does not have the resources to meet the reserves.

If you have any other questions I highly recommend to check this: Introduction: vSphere 6.x HA Deepdive first.

Cluster with 3 guests. Each host har 6 GB of RAM and loaded with 3 virtual machines with 1 GB each. Result I have free 3 GB that is perfect, the limit is I want 2 GB free all the time

If a host is down 2 vms can go to host A and host VM 1 B. host A became with load with 5 GB (VM 3 expanded summer and 2 VMs comes from HA) and has 1 GB that does meet the policy.

How can I leave only 1 vm is migrated to host A to host B sconed vm and the third VM is not migrated.

    Any help?

Just to think about it some more, there are 2 advanced parameters you can use, but keep in mind that it will thus limit the load balancing options.

    • MaxVcpusPerCore
    • MaxVcpusPerClusterPct

VMware KB: Turn on/off virtual machines fails with the error: MAX VCPUs limit is reached

I don't know a single client actively the use of these however, and I would be very careful be honest, because it can lead to VMs is not restarted or unbalanced environment.
