    Hello Cisco support community teams.

I intend to implement GETVPN for my Client. I have several questions about GETVPN failover behavior.

I have test the configuration on GNS3 with C3725 router and also tested on real C2800Series router, and the result of the behavior is the same.

    1. I have 2 KS on the topology, is the GM only saved with a KS?

    2. When primary KS down, GM has not changed to secondary KS, so I need clear gdoi crypto on the GM, is there any configuration required to modify the GM car to other assets KS?

    3. I have check on the GM I had encap and decrypt, but never the decaps and decipher?

    (1) Yes.

    (2) check the DIG, avoid a need to register immediately, "Secondary KS" should become a new primary.

    (3) you say it is not reciving ecnrypted traffic or that it does not increment the counter? I would not trust GNS3. If the problem is the same on 15.1 (4) 2800 M, check with the people in the TAC.

  • Lack of Configuration section in VAMI, vCenter active watch is not Accessible after upgrade from 5.5 to 5.8

Hi all!  I'm having a bit of a problem that I can't find a solution for anywhere.

I have a lab with two boxes of vcsa under 5.5 U2d, and wanted to move to 5.8 SRM.  I started the VRA 5.5.1 (I do not remember, real version number which was with MRS 5.5.1), mount the ISO 5.8 on both sides, restarted both, took the update of the CD (following the official update steps), but after the restart, the two vCenters show "enabled (not available)" and still list it as 5.5.1.

I have validated the RV service is running.  I have been following this thread, regenerated certificates for the TWO vCenters & TWO VRAs: vsphere upgrade from 5.5 to 5.8 Server replication enabled (not accessible) has yet no joy.

I checked the CROWD and the IP address is correct.  I tried to check /opt/vmware/hms/conf/extension.xml for the thumbprint and the file does not exist on each box, the only thing it is extension - template.xml.

On the one hand, I have reset the vCenter database (/ usr/sbin/vpxd - d of VMware KB: reset the vCenter Server repository embedded for vCenter Server Appliance 5.x ), deployed a new VRA 5.8, and he had to register very well.  It's then it dawned on me what missed me: almost all the Startup Configuration where you specify the vCenter (see attachment)

For grins, I recorded the VRA 5.8 of the 'old' vcsa work and tried to save it to the 'new' vcsa, which he could not with a lot of what looked like errors, assuming that because of 'new' vcsa already having a recorded SOAP VRA.  I re-recorded it back to the 'old' vcsa and is happy.  Installed SRM 5.8 (uninstalled 5.5 because I started with a clean database in the vcsa) and all is well on the side of the 'old '.

I'm trying not to go this route on the 'new' side, as I a VDS, vSAN and twice as many hosts, so I won't recreate the vDC, cluster, add guests, etc.  I copied to /opt/vmware/hms/conf/extension-template.xml /opt/vmware/hms/conf/extension.xml and restarted.  Footprint arises, but still no configuration tips.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. You said that the VRA is on a cluster, East of thatcluster HA-enabled? Because where HA must restart the VRA on another host, it does so through the ESX host and this could have emptied the OVF environment. And to even you'll always a working configuration until you start the upgrade or you try to perform any operation through VAMI configuration page. To be on the safe side, I think before upgrade, you can power off and then turn the unit on (simple restart is not enough) to make sure that the EPS of the FVO is recreated.

  • 2 running on the same computer - Question of Performance vmwares!

Hi everyone, Im quite new post on these forums, so I hope Im posting this question on the right place, if not, forgive me.

    My question is,

Im trying to run 2 workstations vmware on my computer with my main window.

I'm using windows xp sp3 on the vmwares as well as on the main window

Well, my problem is, it seems that with 2 vmwares running, some programs I opened on two of them will slow down the vmwares as it rly looks like an old computer running on vista (for example)...

So my question is, is anyway that I can do the 2 vmwares perform better?

Only a vmware works perfectly, but when I got the 2 open and I try to run different things on two of them, they slow down and hit low lvls performance...

    Well,.

Ive tried to put more memory ram for each vmware

Ive tried to put less memory ram for vmware wach

Ive tried to lower resolutions or colors or themes

But none of them gave positive results, I think that lower the ram to each of them did work a little better, but not as much as I need.

Now, I had 2 vmwares and 1 of them is cloned from the other and Im wondering if it matters at all in terms of future performance, exactly what I need now.

My computer specs are as follows:

    core2 quad 2.83 ghz processor

    4 GB ram 800 mhz

    XFX 750i sli motherboard

    SATA hd

I RLY want and need to have these 2 vmwares works perfectly on this computer.

What can I do? And/or what say u?

Any material of parts upgraded? Or the problem is the configuration of the vmwares?

As I said Im wondering if the vmware clone affects this, and if I should just create a new vmware instead of cloning that... etc etc.

Or if I should buy more ram... or if its all in the vmwares configuration

Please let me know what can I do to increase performance or have a perfect combination of 2 stable vmware running on my computer with programs inside also running well.

Programs are not heavy, Id say like programs for simple tasks. Ive checked the processor used and he's not above 30 to 40%, so I really think it's something I can improve in the settings or parameters of ram or vmware is not cloned configuration or something around that.

If please post and correct me if Im wrong and tell me what I can do!

Thank you very much in advance.

I run multiple instances of VMW7.01 every day.

Most of your performance problems will be your hard drive bottlenecking, I run W7 64 b with a few gadgets that monitor the CPU, disk IO & RAM so I can see when the hard drives work flat.

In any case of the performance tips.

If you have the RAM in VM 7.01 Edition, preferences, tab memory. If you have 4 GB RAM to say or to choose before integrate all VMs reserved host RA

If your don't have the ram then choose the Middle option. and in all cases try to allocate as much ram as you host can. For example on my 8 Gb VM will allow me to allocate more 5990 MB is needed I guess under W7.

With regard to your guests. Change the settings for the Virtual Machine, use what is recommended for XP you can use 512 MB, processors, I have not really noticed much difference in performance if I allocate 4 cores or a carrot.

Disk space I allocate a sum say 40 GB to a XP guest, but I leave the disk extend depending on use so it is not allocated in advance disk space. If you click the utilities button you can also defragment hard drive here as well. I don't know how that compares to defragment the guest himself, but if you have a lot of time in your hands, I guess you could try the guest operating system own Defragmenter, then try the Defragmenter utility VM.

Network Adpaters get better performance if NAT value, if not to communicate with the host to a guest and vice versa using a bridge the package must go down the wire to the router/server and then travel back to the host even if it's the same thread! You will notice more if you use shared folders & bridged.

On the Options tab of comments, Advanced option, I think, but maybe wrong that this memory Page trimming may create rea/disk writes further that, if you have a slow hard drive in the first place will be just slow it more. This is one of these options that might work for you, or it could slow a little more things up according to specs pc HW host. What you can do if you have more disks is have your guests to reside in a number of disks to balance i/o across.

These suggestions can be used to both host and guest operating system Windows.

In the XP Control Panel, System icon, Advanced tab, settings (Performance) button, choose the setting for best performance option. It will take off the ontop of the Basic windows controls MS fancy graphics overlay, so XP will look like for example W2k/ME/98. Also, if you want to run more than one virtual machine at a time in the host the Advanced tab click and change programs at bottom Services. This time slicing CPU so more time CPU is shared with anything else instead of saying 70% of the time CU are accessible for the currently running program. That's what I run on my W7 host because it passes more easily then. Change use of Programsto system Cache memory to agree that it is more dependent of HW. Finally let windows manage its own virtual memory for optimal performance.

Other things to consider is the indexing disc, view the properties of your hard drive and turn off disk indexing, well as its only supposed to throw to rest its always something else to slow down your machine with as well as other unnecessary programs that run as a service or an application next to the system clock.

Finally, make sure that your AV scanner comments VM files.

I think that kind of covers most of the settings, but I'm sure others will know of others.

    Good luck!

  • Error trying to import VMWare templates

    Hello world

This error has just started to arrive a couple of days, then everything was fine.  We cannot think of anything that is changed.

    The error is:

The following error occurred during the recovery of the virtual machine or templates from [vCentre Server].

    Required setting container is missing

during the analysis of the CreateContainerView method call information

    on line 1, column 218

during the analysis of body SOAP

    on line 1, column 207

    When parsing of SOAP envelope

    on line 1, column 38

    ...

Strangely, if I try to import folders or VMware data warehouses it has no problem to do that, and if I go in the VMWare configuration and click on the button "Test connection", it completes successfully. It's just when I try and import templates I get the error.

I tried to restart the server vCentre and vWorkspace CB, no luck.  We only did 3 models in VMWare, I tried to convert all virtual machines and which did not help either.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Nick.

    Hi David,

Thanks for the reply.  I tried to create a new model, but not luck.

However, I thought I could try to create a new computer group.  During the import of data center stage, the wizard noted that the data center has renamed.  He gave me the old and the new name of data center, I chose a new (current) and import of model for this new group then worked!

    So that was the problem.

Strangely, it seems that just import the data centre somewhere in the console to update all.  In the above steps, I imported the data when you create a group, and then exit the wizard when the templates part worked.  It was all that it required to allow me to import models on my pre-existing computer group successfully.

    Thank you

    Nick.

  • Configuration of the DRS and CVS!

    Hi all

    I have 2 IBM (M4 Systemx3650 IBM, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2620 V2 2.10 GHz, 12 processors * 2,099 GHz) hosts.

one DELL number (PowerEdgeR730, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2630 V3 @ 2.40 GHz, 16 processors * 2,399 GHz) host with much more kit license vmWARE. configured in a single cluster and all ARMY 3 are under the same group.

Problem 1: attempt to activation of DRS, get error because I'm not allowed to activate DRS for license and DELL host must be updated to the same.

"Problem 2: attempt to activate CVSIntel® Ivy Bridge ' generation is not tenable for host DELL and Intel®"Haswell"generation is not tenable to accumulated both IBM hosts.

If someone could suggest an easy way to overcome it / what step should I take to solve it.

So now the problem is simple, since you do not have a problem of compatibility really :-) Since vCenter VM is started in one of the hosts, you must perform this procedure: VMware KB: VCA allowing on a cluster when vCenter Server is running in a virtual machine

The VCA level for the new cluster must be Ivy Bridge.

    Concerning

    stupid stupid control...

had set ORACLE_SID as + ASM1 on both nodes.

Set to + ASM2 on the second node and ran new facility...

    went like a breeze...

I heard that it can also happen if the sys-network-config is not set correctly.

for example. both machines using the same name, say rac1... NOT TESTED...

It is very easy to miss one or two things with the help of VMware machine cloning.

I have a list of such things

  • VMware clusters and extending on L2

Server virtualization and coud computing are the driving forces behind the need to cover the area L2 network. It was TRILL comes into play.  You get horizontal mounted in a flat network, with several paths of transmission of L2 powered by TRILL.

The question I have is just how far through the data center the field L2 really should extend? To say that this is a vmware environment. The latest version of vSphere allows up to 32 servers per cluster.   In addition, it is only within this 32-host cluster a vmotion or DRS or FT action can take place. Theoretically, you can configure the cluster vmware for the duration of the entire, end-to-end farm. But in reality, the vmware configuration clusters? I think the hosts in a cluster are largely set up in adjacent cabinets, not through the entire data center. So, do you REALLY need extend the field of L2 on the whole farm data center?

    RSEngineer wrote:

When a cluster of 32 hosts is built, the servers are normally adjacent to each other and connected to the same switch infrastructure, correct? Imagine I have 50 racks of servers, a cluster is NOT normally the 1 and some rack in rack 10 servers... and other rack 48... fix?

Depends on what you mean with grid 1, 10 and 48 - is it for servers show that these media are located physically outside or just that they are separate groups?

In general, it will be good to have to cluster across multiple grids - from the point of view of VMware HA which is another 'cluster active the feature' in general, as well as the Drs HA will be able to restart virtual machines on other so physical host to one or more hosts dies.

This also means that it might be wise to separate the members of the cluster of several grids / chassis blade or other who could do together. A view of high availability, it may be good to have a few physical hosts on the same grid (or others who might share common power or similar).

  • NetApp iSCSI best configuration?

    Hello...

I have 3 servers esx 4, related to a NetApp 2020 cabin, two active controllers / assets. Each controller has 2 interfaces (e0a and e0b)
Reading the documentation, NetApp have two connection options: using LACP, or by using the standard software interfaces with the iscsi vmware, create 2 or more ports of vmkernel MPIO.

I opted for the second option, spending 2 physical adapters in each server to which to connect esx iscsi. I created a vSwitch for iSCSI, with 2 vmkernel port.

    vswitch.jpg

without the use of an adapter in each case. (Unused adapter option).

On the side of the cabin, I configured the interface of each controller e0a e0a interface of the other controller as his partnet, as you have assigned a second IP address as an alias. While I e0a controller "A", with alias 192.168.1.17 and 192.168.1.40 IP; E0B controller 'A' alias 192.168.2.17 and 192.168.2.40 withIP; E0A controller "B" IP 192.168.1.18 with or without controller e0b alias' B 'with the IP 192.168.2.18 and without aliases.

Now, in the initiator iscsi vmware configuration, add only the IP "Dynamic discovery" 192.168.1.17, and I appear in the tab 'static discovery', four IP addresses.

    static discovery.jpg

Once you add to that, each data store than I get with 4 available paths. :

    paths.jpg

Is this a correct configuration? ... be improved?
If I add more IPS 'alias', 'paths' multiply, also happens if I add more vmkernel vswitch port to...

This servers ESX 3, not "overload" the connections of ACR?

I can see if the packages are removed? ...

I have the ability to add to each esx Server 2 more cards for iscsi vsiwtch to add 2 to each server vmkernel port... good idea or not?...

    Thank´s...

well... your configuration should be fine.

  • VSS migration to virtual Distributed Switch configuration

    Hi all

I am trying to wrap my brain around that and just run into a few problems actually make things work. Please bear with me, I will try and describe the environment that I have and what I'm trying to building with like jargin little I can.

My current vmware environment consists of 3 hosts vsphere 4.x and about 6 different subnets. My primary host vSphere is home to the largest part of the virtual machine and manages 5 different subnets connected to each of 5 virtual switches separated with 1 assigned to each NETWORK adapter. Also, there is a switch of kernel VM with a connection to my NetApp iSCSI. The other vSphere hosts are simple enough, the two are connected to subnet 1 with a virtual switch for it and a switch of kernel VM with a connection to the NetApp iSCSI.

Each subnet in my lab is managed/break through the VLANS on Cisco devices, so I saw that it had to assign any settings VLAN since the power of VMware.

If you refer to the VMWare vNetwork Distributed Switch: Migration and vmware Configuration guide, I am trying to migrate a seup similar to this:

    vmware_multiple_vds.JPG

However, I'm running issues when you try to get the int hosts a vDS configuration. I could create a vDS for my root subnet, add one of my hosts vSPhere and migrate the virtual machine to the new port group in this vDS. The Service console as well as the VMKernel remain virtual switches on the host and I can't understand how these migrate to a vDS host without lose the connection.

I'm asssuming based on the number of subnets that I manage between hosts, I'll finish with about a 5-switch vritualDistributed for subnets, each with at least 1 card a vSphere host physical NETWORK link up to the appropriate subnet. In addition to this, I'm assumining I'll need to create a vDS for the Service console and VMKernel (iSCIS) traffic. The Service Console are on the same subnet, some VM most residence on that subnet, separate VSS was created on the hosts to manage separate traffic.

Any help anyone can provide on how to create vDS for SC/vmk traffic and get the associated host migrated to which would be very useful. As I said I was able to create 1 vDS and add a host computer via 1 uplink NIC with the virtual machine, but nothing beyond that seems bad connection.

Feel you please free to ask for additional details, I know it's a lot and maybe a bit confusing. Thank you.

    -Bryan

    Hello

If I'm correct, when the host is added the vDS and the creation of the vDS Service Console, I have to select an unused NIC and migrate the SC existing to the new group of port... or should I add a second SC for the VSS by using a NETWORK card available and who migrate to the new vDS?

Yes, select an unused physical nic so that you have a physical nic connected to the VSS and the other to connect to the uplink of vDS group and migrate the SC. existing if you have several hosts, vMotion all VM and test to see if the migration without distruption, also works to keep details of the ILO ready incase you need to connect to the console of the server.

This is a very good book white http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere-vnetwork-ds-migration-configuration-wp.pdf that provides detailed information about the migration.

    All the best.

Comeei agora a little a sober o ler Data Recovery. Can not use ele com a minha essential licensa more?
It will be than can fazer algo como comentei acima com o Data Recovery.
Desde ja Agradea§o e gostaria "is nao for too pedir" some e tips contact us sober essa backup strategy.

    Bem Vindo...

O Backup Data Recovery e feito a nivel VMDK e ele nao raised Informação duplicada, isso e bacana, nao levar o disco inflado alem. (EX: VMDK 100 GB, 20 GB, ele leva only os 20 GB used).

Você do use da forma than esta commenting no post sem nenhum problema.

Specific case of ajuda told me, mas pra você e mesmo o VMware data recovery option best.

    Boa sort
