VMWare Fusion 3 is not reconizing my BootCamp partition

Hello!

I would like to install Windows 7 on my NTFS HARD disk partition. It's cut as follows:

"Windows" (disk0s2) partition: NTFS (cut with disk using NTFS - 3 G utility)

"Mac HD" (disk0s3) partition: HFS +.

I can't use BootCamp Assistant because my disk is already cut.

And because I had problems to use it (with a disc with 1 single partition HFS +, I couldn't create a BootCamp partition, and I have enough space on the disk), I have not use it again, if I can.

The problem is that my NTFS partition is not "recognized" as a bootcamp partition.

I already have this before on my previous HARD disk, but at least my score has been recognized by VMWare Fusion.

I have already tried these 2 things:

-Boot on the Windows 7 installation DVD and format the partition

-Format the partition to FAT32 using disk utility and appointing "BOOTCAMP".

Thanks for helping!

OK, the good partition tables.

I re-read your original message, and it seems that you have not installed Windows again, are - this correct?

Fusion displays only the Boot Camp virtual machine, after installing Windows (it checks for the presence of the necessary boot files). So if the partition is empty, it would be logical that the merger is not show it again.

Just go ahead and to install Windows on that partition, then restart in Mac OS, and the merger is expected to see the Boot Camp partition and create the virtual computer to it.

It is possible to install Windows 7 on the NTFS partition within the merge (rather than start from the installation DVD Mac), but it involves a bit more work to manually set up the virtual machine.

  • How to access files in Macintosh HD in XP (partition Bootcamp) on VMware fusion

I can't go to Macintosh HD in XP on the bootcamp partition.  MacDrive7 installed in the XP does not work in the machine virtual vm-ware.

Is it possible to open files in Macintosh HD in XP (partition Bootcamp) on VMware fusion?

Assuming you run Bootcamp Partition under Fusion when you are asked this question (if you are initiated in Bootcamp I can't help you).  Why not just use the file sharing provided by Fusion?  With the VM Fusion-enabled, go to the Virtual Machine-> settings menu / point.  Click on the share icon (I'm assuming you are using Fusion 2.0.x) and put in place to share all the files on your Mac with the virtual machine.

My vmware fusion vm will not start. I get an error message:

I have attached the newspapers and the generosity and skill vmx file to help a nice person. Thank you!

The attached file "Windows_7.vmx.zip" contains a new 'Windows 7.vmx' file created from the supplied vmware.log file.

With VMware Fusion closed unzip (double-click on) attached file "Windows_7.vmx.zip" and replace the file "Windows 7.vmx" original by one here.

  • Buy VMWare Fusion 6 yesterday

I hope that there is some sort of grace period where a user gets the new version for free. If someone has been in this situation?

    From this page:

VMware KB: VMware Fusion 7.0 sales, licenses and compatibility FAQ (2081968)

Try contacting support, it says TGP if for people who bought 6 Fusion of 01/08/2014 ~ 30/09/2013 I don't think that is correct.

    Technology guarantee program FAQ (TGP)

What is the technology guarantee program?

VMware provides a free copy of VMware Fusion 7.x if you bought a copy of Fusion 6 at the Store VMware or a VMware reseller between August 1, 2014 and on September 30, 2013.

How can I get my VMware Fusion 7.x license key, if I'm in the eligibility period?

    • If you have purchased VMware Fusion 6 electronically VMware or a VMware reseller during this period, you will automatically receive a new license key VMware Fusion 7.x by e-mail by September 30, 2014. In addition, the license keys will be delivered to your My VMware account and you can find the keys to the new folder called technology guarantee program and other measures are not required to receive the upgrade.
    • If you have purchased a VMware Fusion 6 through a dealer of VMware in this period, you need to present your license keys and supporting purchase online before October 31, 2014. Allow up to 30 days to receive your free electronic upgrade to VMware Fusion 7.x. For more information about sending all the required documentation, refer to the guide to VMware Fusion.

Note: the previous link was correct as of September 3, 2014. If you find the link is broken, provide feedback and a VMware employee updates the link.

  • VMware fusion 6 - Mavericks comment issue

When trying to install the Mavericks as a guest in VMware fusion 6, I get a message "VMware Fusion is to create an install image bootable for installing Mac OS X continues." when the drag and drop my Mavericks Mac download in VMware Fusion. Should I answer to save disc Image (in VMware Fusion)?

    Thank you.

You have two choices, you can click on cancel or Save the Image disc... and the choice is your doing!

BTW, at the present time, the Mavericks Installer.tool create which is a part of VMware Fusion 6 does not create a good disk Image install and they know and are working on a fix for it.  One of the questions is the Recovery HD is not created.  While I have not tried using FileVault in a Virtual Machine OS X 10.9 I think it's too broken as a result of incorrect setup created.

  • Running VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 Thunderbolt Drive

    Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

    The guest is Windows 7 x 64

    -Allocated memory: 8 GB

    -Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    -Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

All the world experience similar question, run the virtual machine of the Thunderbolt drive?

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.

  • VMWare Fusion 2.0 is compatible with os x Lion?

I presenbtly have an iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 under Leopard 10.5.8 with VMWare Fusion 2.0 and Windows XP Home Edition.

I want to improve this iMac to Snow Leopard and later for OSX Lion.

Doing so I will still be able to use VMWare Fusion 2.0 or will I have to go to Fusion 4?

If SO, what is the exact procedure to be still able to use the current Windows XP Home Edition.

Can someone help me so more clear in these different improve procedures, if necessary at all, or I can just upgrade to OS x Lion and maintain the existing VMWare Fusion 2 configuration on the Boot Camp partition?

    Thanks for your help.

I was quite surprised that the attachment was corrupted. Just clicking on it, I have no problem showing on my screen.

Maybe it was my connection earlier... now it's OK.

There is not the OS as "Windows XP Pro SP3 Ultimate Edition"!

When I try to open it with Fusion, after I entered my password, I get the error "cannot open disc" / Users/DBM/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Machines virtuelles/Camp/%2Fdev%2Fdisk0/Boot Boot Camp partition.vmwarevm/Boot Camp partition.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Note: These steps assume that you have a default Apple installation of Windows and a VMware Fusion Boot Camp Virtual Machine default partition and if you changed the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine package first.

    1. If the merger is open, close it.

    2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will remove the Boot Camp Virtual Machine meta-data partition. Note: This does not affect the Boot Camp partition to install Windows. Also be sure that you copy the entire command below "rm" line at the beginning of the "(quote) after the p in the Camp of. "

RM - dfr "/Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines / Boot Camp."

    3. start Fusion (/ Applications/VMware Fusion.app) and select the Boot Camp partition on the library of the Virtual Machine window, and then click the run button.

Notes: Then, an authentication dialog box appears. "VMware Fusion requires that you type your password." Enter your name and password, and then click OK. (It is necessary to remove the Boot Camp for the merge partition to access it directly).

Then, we should see a Boot Camp partition message stating "VMware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine. This may take a few minutes. This occurs once. »

When the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine starts for the first time after this VMware Tools may want or will install/update and restart the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine.
