  • Alternative to VMware Infrastructure Web Access?

I had absolutely horrible experience, try using the VMware Infrastructure Web Access site to manage my VMware Server 2 (2.0.0 - 2.0.2), but I spare you the rant about the problems.  In short, I expect more distributed as alpha software.

Is there another program of VMware or someone else who will allow me to manage VMware Server and access the console of the virtual machine.  I liked the product for Server 1.x, but unfortunately, they removed support.

Yes, he must be the customer of ESX3.5.  Specifically Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.5.  I do not know which build ESX3.5 I got the customer, but it was there are a few updates.  So, you might try the extraction of the ESX3.5u1 or u2, if the current version of u5 does not work.

A major limitation with the VIClient is that it cannot completely handle material type 7 VMs.  (e.g.: Server2.)  You can start the virtual and other computers, but cannot change the settings of the virtual machine.  If the virtual machines are the older type 4 (e.g.: Server1) then you can make full use of the VIClient for everything.  However, the type 4 does not support USB2.  You don't have to have all your virtual machines as type 4.  My server has a mixture of types, but I have to remember which are of type 7 and use the web interface to modify the virtual machine settings.  But apart from that, I use the VIClient to display the console for all virtual machines.

If you can live with the older hardware type, the VIClient is absolutely the best way to manage the Server2.

  • Could I create a VM with Vmware infrastructure web access?

    Hello

Just to confirm a question: I could create a virtual machine or clone a virtual machine of model through VMware infrastructure web access? or just to do this VI?

    Thank you.

No, it must be done through the VIC.  The Web user interface will only allow to manage guests.

F.F. = excuse my English very poor I try to work in.

Have you tried using the same account and pw you used to connect to the computer? Or at least the account which was used for the connection when installing VMWare... One of those (if different) should work.

  • Vmware server Web Access 2 does not work

    Dear vmware community:

First of all thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have a problem that looks like this isn't the first time that this happens, Yes, I was still unable to find an adequate solution.

We have vmware server 2 is installed on a Debian 5 machine. Until yesterday, it was working fine.

Today, when I tried to access to via web browser as usual, the page not load (the browser would say 'done, but the name of the page says "Loading").

We have one of the virtual machines that are configured to start automatically, and it does not work as expected. The other I can't handle because I can't have the vmrun run perhaps (related?). So far, the only things that doesn't seem to work is web access only.

There is one thing to note: after a restart of the computer, or restart the vmware mgmt, the service called "VMware Virtual Infrastructure Web Access" would show anything (while other services say "done" at the end of each line).

I saw other people with similar problems here, and generally the solution was to reinstall the vmware server all on this machine. I would avoid this of course.

Did someone already experienced this? Where I can look for more information on the VMware VI Web Access service won't start not (I do not know where are stored the logs of this service, maybe that can help).

Please let me know if I should add any information, such as newspapers, etc.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

I would recommend you check carefully this post and this post another may also help.

Have you checked the vmrun documentation? Take a look at the file that I downloaded on this post.

I would like to know if one of my tips work for you (or not)

    Best wishes / Saludos.

  • VMware VDM Web Access does not support your operating system (Windows7 beta)

I got this message when connecting to the Server Desktop VDM:

    "The unmet requirements."

VMware VDM Web Access does not support your operating system'

my version: Office: Windows 7 beta with IE8

I works perfectly with Vista Business SP1 (as host operating system) with IE7:

VMWARE VDM Client version 2.1.0 build-596

    How can I solve this?

    Thank you.

I'm not sure that there is a way to solve it.   The beta version is not in the operating systems supported on page 22 of the VDM 2.1 guide.

  • XP SP3 causes BSOD during the passage of the WYSE Thin Client session to session VMware VDM Web Access

    Hello

For our VDI environment, we use both clients Wyse thin (Thin OS 6.2.0_16) and VMware VDM Web Access to access Windows XP virtual machines that are available through the VMware VDM connection server. The connection and the agent server is at version 2.1.1 build-663. We run ESX 3.5 and Virtual Center 2.5 times with update 3.

The issue I'm having is once a Windows XP SP2 virtual computer has been upgraded to SP3 will be blue screen when I try to access it for the Wyse terminal after his last accessed from VMware VDM Web Access. Order real to get there would be to access the VM SP3 from the Wyse Terminal, then go VDM Web access, and then again from the Wyse Terminal and it will have a blue screen. Disconnect or disconnect makes a difference. I'm curious to see if anyone else has this problem. I enclose the capture of blue screen and the mini dump file. If you need more information please let me know.

    Thanks for your help!

    -Pete

    Hi Peter,.

The root cause of the problem is change colordepth of 15 bits to 16 bits. Let me explain the cause of the problem.

-Connection of the terminal WYSE in a VM XP - effective colordepth in the RDP session = 15 bits

-Access Web VDM from PC connection (I guess) - effective in the RDP session colordepth = 16 bits.

-The switch back to results WYSE Thin Client = 15 new bits

This actually switch between colordepth 15 bits to 16 bits and viseversa result BSOD.

Thank you to use DesktopColorDepth = 16 RGB565 = Yes command in your wnos.ini and try to place this order through brokers VDM. It should solve the problem.

    Thank you

  • VMware Virtual Infrastructure Web Access won't start not

    Hi all

I'm a little puzzled. Yesterday my vmware server 2 was working fine, but today it does simply not at all. Or rather vmware server seems to work, but web access won't start so I can't access it.

I created a log of errors of the problem by changing the start of web access line in vmware-mgmt to send the log to a file instead of dev/null and the result which is attached to the file. I can't make heads or tails of it, but I hope someone can help me. I have re-installedvmware Server 2 times, but it does not help.

The host is under ubuntu 9.04 and the guest is windows xp. As I said, everything worked without problem yesterday, but today it won't work/start.

Hoping that someone will know what to do!

    Hello

Perhaps with the failure, vmware server became unstable. Then put back in place a clean vmware server is necessary.

To do this, all you need is to run ' vmware - uninstall.pl ' and then do a clean install using the script that I told you.

Remove it and install check is all vmware remains of zombie process in running and kill them.

You will not lose the virtual machine, but are always a good idea to make a backup. During the installation of vmware server all you need is pointing to the directory containing the files of the virtual machine.

If you have problems with vmware vmware hostd.log and/var/log/vmware proxy.log after install the own reach and we will check.

    Best wishes / Saludos.

I inherited a few major COMPUTER disasters with a client. I'm new to VMWare and have found that several virtual servers are no longer running. We have pay to this topic. When I run the Home Page of VMWare Server it takes me to VMware Infrastructure Web Access with a login and password, but I have no idea what could be. • Overview of the plugin performance without Web access?

It seems that the plugin install.bat overview of performance (for VirtualCenter 2.5 update 4) requires the installation of the VMware Infrastructure Web Access function.

This plug-in works with the VI Client? If so, is there a way to install and use the plugin without access installed Web?

the plugin works in the VI Client, but it works like a plugin of vCenter.  So, therefore depends on the Internet access service.  I don't know inside and on how the plugin works, but if the Internet access service does not work when you try to go to the tab overview of performance, it will be just error.

  • How can I change the looks of Access Infrastructure Web location for the virtual machine files?

How can I change the looks of Access Infrastructure Web location for the virtual machine files?

My default is set to MACHINES C:\VIRTUAL.  But I want to change it to turn to an external drive connected with an eSata cable. Can I do this?

    Hello

Add just like a new data store.

Login to your web access, select your host (not the virtual machines) in the left menu.

You should see a link on the right side with "Add data store", give it a name of store and add the directory.

Now, you can add a virtual machine to this place.

    Good luck!

  • VSphere from VMware vCenter Server Web Access from the Internet

I tested VMware vSphere (ESX 4) and tried to connect to the internet for the Web Admin Access VM only.  I can connect the vCenter Server (on Windows) http Web Access features and manage the configuration of all virtual machines. But when I try to connect to an actual vm via MKS, I get an error MKS as ' unable to connect to the MKS: unable to connect to the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:902 server.»  The xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the ESX Server HOST and not the Server vCenter (which administers the host).   I have ports 80, 443, 902 and 903, on the firewall, open to point to the server vCenter Server.  When I'm on the LAN, I can do everything without a problem. Its only when I try to connect directly from the internet through our firewall I get the above error.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Andrej770,

vCenter Server transfers you to the ESX host hosting the virtual machine, and the remote console runs on port 902.

You want to go directly to the ESX host on port 902 through the firewall to connect to the Virtual Machine console.

You want to see the pages "Guide de Configuration ESX" 146 for more information.

I have to connect to the VMWare Infrastructure Client by using domain administrator credentials.  Recently, I changed the password of admin area, but I can connect in CIV with the old and the new password?  Y at - it a cache of passwords somewhere that would need to be deleted?  The VIC is not integrated with Active Directory?

Do you chamge the local administrator on the VC server password? I think that's where it comes from.

  • Web Access role

    Hello

On our single server ESX 4.0 (no vCenter) we created a role for the uses to which has access with vSphere Client on a single VM server, where they can start, stop, suspend and interact with the console, etc. (Basic only tasks).

We want to give them access to web access too. Connect to Web Access works very well, but they don't see any virtual machine inside the Web access. When I login with root or admin use, I see everything in the web console and can use the data features.

I looked on all possible roles, but have not found anything that relates to Web access.

Is there a way to provide Web access for machines the same where the 'limited' use can also access in vSphere client?

    Please help out me.

    Phil

    Hello

Make sure that you place the role correctly. Either he places on the virtual machine or on a folder. Never put on a pool of resources, a host or a cluster. Where did you place the role?
