  • VMware workstation, crashes when I try to create a new virtual machine

    Hello

I never had this problem before, but I didn't create a new virtual machine in a very long time. Last time I created one was making Workstation 9 I think. Some time after the upgrade to Workstation 10 or 8.1 of Windows Update 1 it has started.

In 10 Workstation running on Windows 8.1, I select the file > new Virtual Machine dialog coming upwards and in a few seconds crashes of VMware workstation and closes.

So I checked the Windows event logs and find

Warning "VMware Workstation to function properly, must be reinstalled after the upgrade to Windows."

So, I upgraded from 10.0.2 to 10.0.3 and it uninstalled and reinstalled but I still get this warning.

So I need help to track down what I am not sure what VMware paper to look to maybe see what is happening.

    Thank you

    Rainey

    Well, I found the problem.

I looked in the UNK file and found a few ISO files wrongs tracks.

I had mounted some ISO in the past and they have made the entry in this file of preferences such as "isoLocationMRUx".

I'd change the leter this ISO file player so they could not be found as input, once I corrected the paths I can now create a new virtual machine.

He is responsible for ion BONE the new virtual machine now.

  • create and deploy virtual computer

    Hi all

I want to create a VM and deploy virtual computer by using ISO image. I need to automate this process using powercli.

Could you please provide me with an example script to do this.

    Thank you

    Kalai

You will need to change the boot order in the BIOS of the virtual machines to boot from the CD.

Take a look at specify bootable for a virtual machine devices

  • VMware View connect not not using Nexus 7 (2013)

Hi all.  I am a new user and have problems even connect using my Nexus 7 (2013).  I use VMware View version 2.3.3 - 1749018 on Android 4.4.2.  Whenever I try to connect to a virtual desktop, I get an error "Lost connection to server."  I can always regardless of my physical location or what wireless network that I use.  In all the same places I can always connect with my iPhone.

Any ideas? Sorry if I left out some key info.

Thanks for the quick response.  I went through your steps and unfortunately had no chance.  But I managed to get connected in a different way, maybe it will help others.

My Nexus 7 is set up with two accounts different profiles/user.  The first and main is my personal account.  The second (child) account is my business account.  I managed to install the VMware View app on my work account profile, but it would never connect.  I tried to install the VMware View app on my personal account profile and it connect to 100% of the time.  So, there is some difference in my settings on these two profiles OR child accounts have some inherent differences I don't know.

If someone else has a similar problem, try using your main account to connect!

  • VMware View Client can 'close' host Windows 7?

Can VMware View Client 4.6 'close' a client Windows 7 physical host device when it is turned on (Thin Client or desktop running Windows 7)? The behavior desired is to let the user simply turn on their thin Client or a desktop computer running Windows 7 Starter Edition or another version of Windows and not Windows desktop appears. The VMware View client connects directly to the broker and then to the VM user login screen? The customer or the user of the Dektop can simply access the connection of the user view not the physical host Windows box?

For XP/XPe installed locally on you thin client, you can change the default shell of Explorer to wswc.exe (Customer View). More information about this you can read here: http://blogs.vmware.com/view/2009/02/vmware-view-client-as-a-shell-for-xpe-and-xp-pro-clients.html

According to me, this thing with some addition settings should work with Win 7.

There is also some proprietary software, for example: http://www.thinlaunch.com/thin-desktop-client.asp

  • VMware View Security Server DMZ

    Hello!

We are currently developing a small installation of VMware View in our office as a CEP and I have a question about the server security and the need for the ports against customers.

    Our facility:

(Active Directory and RADIUS) 2-factor authentication

    Front End FW

    Security on the DMZ server

    Backend FW

    Connection to the server

    The question I have is:

4172TCP/UDP port 3389 be open from the Security server to customers?

Is there no way of this tunnel since the Security server through the connection to the server on the inside?

    Thank you

    Kenth

    Hej Kenta.

You are right, there is currently no way to tunnel on the dry-server and the connection broker using PCoIP, you can only create a tunnel through one.

So that means you need to open TCP/UDP 4172 between dry-server and desktop computers-view.

  • Requires ESX VMware view?

    Hey guys,.

This may be a very stupid question, but do you need ESX(I) to run VMware View?
I guess you need to create a cluster of some sort to host virtual offices and
I wonder if ESX (i) comes into play at all. Try to determine the future needs of license here.

    See you soon

Yes, VMware view must either ESX or ESX (i) to install and also a Virtual Center to be configured and cluster to build with the ESX hosts, added to the cluster.

With regard to the requirement for Vmware View 4.5 Lincense

VMware View is always available in editions company and first and can be purchased as a package or as an add-on for those who have existing vSphere licenses to a separate purchase (which is not part of a set of view). With view 4.5, customers have a way to upgrade available to view Enterprise and View first modules to complete sets. Key updates include:

    • See Business Starter Kit and View Prime Starter Kit now includes VMware vCenter Standard for desktop computers (updated VMware vCenter Foundation for desktop computers).
    • View first beams, View first add-ons and View first upgrades include now the two new components introduced with view 4.5: vShield Endpoint and View Client with Local Mode(formerly known as Offline Desktop)

You can get more information about the licenses and prices here

    Thank you

    Buddy.

  • Test environment for VMware View 7 - PCoIP Protocol does not work properly

We test VMware View 7 with as many Thin Clients and customers zero (Teradici)

When we try to connect via RDP Protocol, it works fine. When we try to connect via the PCoIP Protocol, desktop display seems to blink (about 2 times per second) and display resolution is not acceptable. So, there is a problem with the Protocol (broker or Office VM)

There are no firewall in the middle.

Desktop virtual has a clean install.

So... anyone have the same number? or similar?

    How much video Ram?

You can increase the video Ram.

  • VMware View design

    Hi all

I have a scenario as follows:

    In the same building.

the user can take their own devices to log on to the desktop view.

different ground, it has an ip address different range. and there difference ip range for floor of difference.

    The question is

    1. can I use the ip address to monitor the user to open a session pool for the locations and different departments?

2 and I can force users to change their office to see if they change location.

    Thank you and best regards

  • Can the ESXI 5.0 and Vmware View coexist on the same server blade

Hi team, sorry for the basic question, but can I install the ESXI and Vmware View on the same server?

    Kind regards

    Ismail

VMware view installs inside a server operating system and he can definitley be installed inside a server running on top of vSphere.

  • Two monitors configured using PCoIP does not cover both monitors for VMware View

Occasionally, I've experienced the symptoms described in KB1027899, when usually the first time of connection for the day that I select multiscreen and the screen is divided in the Middle the 2 monitors using PCoIP. I end up disconnecting and reconnecting to the virtual machine a few times, which is a valid solution, but I'm still curious about why this is happening.

I am running VMware View 5.0.0 build-481677, on a Wyse R90L with Windows XP Embedded, I use VMware View Client 5.0.0 build 481677 and VMWare View agent on a box of Windows 7 5.0.0 build 481677. We lack vCenter and ESXi 5.0.0 in all areas as well.

According to the article, this happens because there is not enough video memory configured for the virtual computer. The problem I have is that if I force the pool offices use PCoIP and 128 MB of video memory, I can't RDP to the workstation as the Protocol is locked, I need to still be able to do. I tried manually increase the memory video, but view reconfigures to match the settings of the pool.

Is there a way to increase the video memory without changing the required logon Protocol? Or is there a fix in a different way to this question?

    Thanks a lot guys.

Have you tried to change the configuration video pool to be 2 monitors with 2560 x # instead of the default resolution to see if that solves the problem?

  • Replica of VMware View

    Hi all

VMware View replica will improve as load balancing and high availability or just load balancing?

The replica view server uses a copy of the adam database connection agent that offers customers the opportunity to connect and authenticate.

  • Microphone in VMWare View support

    Hello

I'm busy with a proof of concept for VMWare view.  So far, everything was setup and works very well. I am using 4.6 and accommodation view my Win 7 x 64 virtual computer on a Vsphere environment with ESX 4.0 hosts.

I can connect my virtual machine by using the view via a server client to have view. Once connected, sound works fine, I can open the mp3 or youtube and his works in general. Go to Device Manager I see there is a device called VMWare virtual audio (devtap) installed, even if the parameters of the virtual machine via virtual Center displays obviously no audio device.

After starting to play with some of our applications, including Microsoft lync, I noticed that I can't make audio calls to other customers Lync, probably because there isn't any microphone support here. I tried to do the same thing from a computer with audio output thinclient / mic Jacks, but get the same result. Is there a kind of driver which allows for emulation of micro as is currently used for emulation of sound card to see?

The virtual audio device supports only audio output. There are two routes you can go down:

    1. use the USB redirection with a USB headset feature and use your audio device for applications requiring audio in

    2. install the Audio driver virtual Teradici on your virtual machines, which is supported by Teradici rather than VMware: http://techsupport.teradici.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=15164&task=knowledge&questionID=421
