Volume "grayed out" control - no sound Satellite P10

Hi - I have a portable series of P10, PSP10E-0RCJM-EN.

Don't know when or how this can happen, but recently my Realtek AC97 audio output stopped edge!

It is recognized and installed when you look in the Windows Device Manager.

However when you look at 'control the size of the Panel - sounds and audio devices -' the volume of the unit settings are grayed out. Depending on which driver I tried the shown may or mentioned AC97 Realtek as peripheral by default on the audio tab or voice.

I am running Win XP Home Edition with SP2 and latest drivers and BIOS downloaded from the Toshiba web site & or Realtek.

I tried a variety of uninstall and reinstall drivers for devices without a bit of luck.

Someone at - it suggestions more please, y at - it a specfic driver or uninstall I should be addressing?

I hope you can help, impatience of someone soon!

Graham

Hello

I agree with James, but if you want as a last option, you can try to remove the sound card and restart the device. Again, check the Device Manager list. If there is the same situation, I assume that there is hardware problem.

    Hello world

I have a laptop quite old and finally 37 GB C: drive is full and I would like to delete the partition between it and the 35 GB D: drive so I can use the entire disk. However, when I go into management records 'Delete Volume' is gray, only "shrink Volume" is available and it cites only 2031MB.

I moved all my files to D: drive to my external drive created back - ups, system images etc. The only thing that remains on the D: drive is 4.71 GB of 'EULA', "LocalizedData" and "SetupResources.dll" of the system files. Would it block the 'Delete Volume' If yes what can I do?

Got the patch KB888111 from Microsoft and installed, still no luck.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong please?

Satellite P10 is old enough laptop model. I have very good experiences with P20. It's almost the same laptop, but a bit bigger. A friend of mine uses P10 for the job and we have installed WXP Pro using all the tricks of the Toshiba support page. The OS is installed two years ago, and the sound still works.

If you can not get this to work, I recommend you remove all the important data for the D partition or save on an external device and make the clean OS install. It will be interesting to see if the problem persists.

By the way: is a connected to your laptop satellite external game controller?
An interesting solution, I found here.

  • Control blocks the Satellite A200 - 14 d: Volume

    Hello!

The problem I encounter is quite difficult and seemingly without solution (have unformatted disk still).
Whenever I open the Vista (home edition X 32) on my Satellite A200 - 14 d, things go as usual. I hear the sound. But when I try to adjust the volume with the volume button, it locks up: sometimes all taskbar, sometimes the computer (even if the mouse is moved, and it meets the ctr-alt-del).

In the second situation I can access and the Internet, for example, with the special button, but what you know - do not type anything. When only the bar spots are block, I can use explore or internet, but if I reduce a window there is only more to do anything. If when she is completely blocked I enter the Task Manager, it does not work. A solution is to disconnect, and when I go home is as it was before, but with the same risk.

    What I tried:
-J' uninstalled the drivers Realtek, up-to-date with the latest version - the same
-J' deleted the remaining drivers used by the device and reinstalled with the new drivers - the same
    -J' scanned for virus, nothing
-J' did all updates for windows etc.

When I turn off the device, it is all good.
A fact is that I can control the mixer in its control panel, sound and I can hear it and when the computer is blocked, so there is a software problem.
I have seen that in some cases, when I turn off the sound, it appears the blue screen. It is said that a problem is in my Realtek sys files.

What should I do next?  :|

    Hello

Have you noticed that emits the first day after the purchase of laptop?

There are many times I worked on the A200 and I really didn t notice these issues.

Then maybe you should check if the same thing will happen after the restoration of the OS. Try to use the recovery CD and reset the phone to factory settings.

This is necessary to know if it a software or hardware problem. If it s a hardware problem, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for the control.

But if it s a software problem due to the bad influence of the 3rd party software then the new recovery procedure should help to sort.

    Best regards

    Hi David,

When you have rebuilt your laptop you re-install the operating system and all the utilities Toshiba? I think that the button that you are talking about is controlled by the Toshiba EasyKey utility.

  • Volume icon disappeared from my system tray, and the option is grayed out (don't let me check it out) in the taskbar and start menu properties screen /Notification

I don't know how to recover my volume icon - can anyone help?  Thank you!

    Hello

If one of the system icons is out, you can reactivate the as follows:

Right-click on the taskbar and select Properties. This will bring up the tab "properties of menu taskbar and start. It's where you mentioned, it is gray. It is very well...  From there, you can click on Customize button in the icon section. Look for the icon that you are missing, and check the status. The type of report should read "Hide icon and notifications", change that to "Show icon and notifications".

If this does not resolve the issue most likely you have a problem with group policy on your machine. This can be corrected by following the instructions on the following link:

  • How to extend my drive C use unallocated space on my drive hard if the option "extend volume" is grayed out?

I'm trying to erase my drives and have a clean reinstall of Windows 7. Endless hedges have attempted to quit of me, whose latest is my drive C is not able to use the unallocated space that was once my D drive (now deleted).

I am interested in disk management and you can see my drive C, BDEDrive (I don't know what it is and can't get a straight answer on it as of yet), unallocated and free space (I do not understand the difference between space and unallocated space) in that order.

I want a big C 1 TB drive, but can't seem to extend the C drive currently because it is grayed out.

    SOLVED!

    [for reference]
It's also easy to move the startup information in the BDEDrive and giving the computer reboot, and then delete the BDEDrive. After that, the free space can be deleted (it becomes unallocated) and all unallocated space can be swallowed up by the C drive now that the option "Extend Volume" became available.

  • Satellite Z930 - mode boot Boot CSM and grayed out on the value

    Hello

Hope someone can help me please.

I have a Toshiba Ultra Z930 friends book.

When you start the laptop does not start it comes up with the meesage PXE - E61: Media Test Failure.

    It is a Windows 8 portable 3rd Gen i7.

I can boot from Hiren'S and the hard drive is located and can be selected and all files seem to be intact.

I went into the BIOS and found that the startup mode is set to MSC Mode.
However, Windows 8 requires the for UEFI boot mode.

I can't find how to change the boot of the CSM Mode in the UEFI.
The option is grayed out and cannot be selected.

    Help
    Please

    Hello

Go to the BIOS by pressing F2.
Then put the BIOS on the default settings, save the changes and power the laptop off.
Then switch on the device and access to the BIOS, once more the key F2.

According to my experience, secure boot option must be available, and you should be able to change the startup mode UEFI/CSM layout too.
