Volume of data FGV

Hello

is there a problem with huge data volumes in a global functional to carry the values from a single loop tp the other (perhaps a producer to consumer)? I'm talking about a volume of about 8K of data of the doubles pairs. Currently, this is no problem in my program and on my PC, but I m thinking to increase the volume of data (up to 100 K pairs of double) and maybe any other use of old people and slower than my PC PC...

thx for your suggestions

Something you might want to look at is data value references. But 100K is something that I would consider small.

  • Large Volume of data merge issues with Indesign CS5

I recently started to use Indesign CS5 to design a piece of mail marketing which requires the fusion of data from Microsoft Excel.  With small spots up to 100 pieces, I don't have any problems.  However, I need to merge 2 000-5 000 items of data through Indesign on a daily basis and my lap top current was not able to manage the merger of more than 250 pieces at a time, and the merge process 250 takes 30-45 minutes if I have the chance and the software not crushed.

To resolve this problem, I bought a desktop computer with a second generation processor Core i7 and 8 GB of memerory, thinking that would solve my problem.  I tried to merge the track 1,000 of data with this new computer, and I was forced to restart Adobe Indesign after 45 minutes of no results.  I then merged 500 pieces and the task was completed, but the process took less than 30 minutes.

I need help with this problem because I can't find another software which can design my mail merge the way that Indesign can, however, the time it takes to merge large volumes of data is very frustrating because the software crash from time to time the after waiting a good 30-45 minutes to complete.

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi AnirudhRamesh,

You can use diskpart.exe to extend a data volume in Windows XP.

  • Pool and the Volume of data latency does not match the SanHQ

Using some PS6000 (Sata and SAS) as a back-end for ESXi and looking at the graph view on SanHQ and the raw data on export, but I'm not able to give a sense of latency information.

Generally for fields, the data in the column pool or member matches very closely to the sum of the parts of the volume (for IOPS / s, flow, read, write, etc.)

However, latency is not, nor is he anywhere near average either.

In the graphical display we noticed high (20-40 ms) latency playback of our pools and members, but the volumes that make up these pools are all less than 10ms. During a storage vmotion, we will see a huge spike in IOPS / s and latency and sizes KB will drop to almost nothing during the copy rebound back at high levels as the traffic goes down.

Makes a lot of sense to me (except perhaps if seq I/O is reduced to deal with latency)

To monitor latency, it seems that I need to watch the largest volume of latency of a given pool, but not the pool itself or asymmetric information.

I would get a few reports of MS Log Parser against export CSVs, but I need to make sense of this first. Latency is a KPI is no not a lot of sense.

When you see the IOPS rise and the latency goes down, it's actually a normal thing. It is called Nagle algorithm. It makes pretty much the TCP packets wait until they are full before sending them. Here is a document that can be useful, what explains the algorithm more in detail.

    http://SearchNetworking.TechTarget.com/definition/Nagles-algorithm

Until reporting problem you're talking about I would recommend making sure that the last FW is installed on all members of the Group and ensure well the last version of SAN HQ are also installed. Just curious you have configured replication? I can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • VMDK, vmfs, san, VM, mulitple volumes and data warehouses.

    Hello

I'm in the middle of the creation of a MV for a windows server which will have some data (about 10 records about 5 TB) file sharing. I find a better one how to create this virtual machine with a correct sizing of the data store, number of data to use store and the number of volumes must span the store data or best recomondation.

I don't think not vmware support 5 TB of data in the near future, max is less than 2 TB, so I put all data warehouses in a single 5 TB volume or multi-volume 1 TB, 2 TB, 2 TB, and options create the virtual machine with 6 disks (C = 80 GB, 1 TB = D E = 1 to, F = 1 to, G = 1 TB and H = 1 TB).  All my files are less than 1 TB in size and will be will not develop more than 1 TB. Due to the limitation of size of data store.

I'm looknig for some best practice, expereimented or recomondations solution. Should be an easy management of the virtual machine, an easy migration between the host migration easy with data warehouses or volumes, snapshot to replicate or volume volume, etc... This virtual machine is implemented with cluster.

    Thanks in advance.

I suggest that you set up a small test and storage vMotion for your self. Understand the limits of Storage vMotion

  • Using PowerCLI to recover the capacity of volume comments data

  • App Volumes/Writeable discs and user data layer Design

Could someone provide some details about how/why you would use writeable discs instead of, or in conjunction with view Persona and/or roaming profiles? Based on the documentation I've read, it seems that writable disks are used only to store settings specific app volume and/or requests for the selected user. I understand the concept of storage of the applications of the user on the recordable disc, but what is the advantage of storing data of configuration on those disks if you already have a solution in place? If writeable discs is designed to support desktop persistent psudo would not always need a Persona management solution to manage other user settings?

    Thank you!

The writable volume is capable of storing user installed applications, profile data, or both depending on the model used in the creation. The reason why you would use one over the other can be simplified by explaining to the base that the Volumes of the App with data on the volume. Application of volume provides data. It changes nothing after delivery. Several solutions Manager user environment settings in some way. It's not that the App Volumes. So if you for example need to change application settings that are from a SQL database somewhere, there is a solution like Persona, AppSence, Immidio, etc comes into the mix. Volumes of app is able to provide a local profile as an accessible volume in writing. If you use roaming profiles, for example, the Volumes App can do a very good replacement. If you use AppSence to draw a frame based on some contextual connection settings, continue to do.

  • File server data - of RDM Volumes or VMFS?

    People,

I use vSphere Enterprise Plus 4.1.

I read on the RDM debate VMFS v. However, it seems that the arguments for VMFS assumes that you plan to run the operating system of the volume. In this case VMFS WINS.

I put aside for a couple of my operating system already VMFS volume. But one of the virtual machine will be a file server. I intend to add 7 x 500 GB of LUNS to this virtual machine. I don't plan to do snapshots of these volumes.

It seems that there is not much to skew the argument one way or another for each type of storage. In the absence of any compelling reason, I'm slightly siding with the RDM. It will give me more flexibility in storage 'pivot' if ever I need to upgrade and I won't get the red exclamation mark appearing in vCenter as I would fill my VMFS volume with a virtual disk file.

Can I ask for some advice on what would be a 'best practices' to add volumes that will be used to store the data?

    Kind regards

    Michael

From a management perspective I'd go for RDM, especially if she wants to be a file server.

Let's look at a few arguments. If you go for VMFS, this means that all I/o to the file server would be shared with the rest of the virtual machines residing on the data store (which, depending on your configuration might be ok). RDM also offer the advantage of being able to migrate to physics at some point, if the workload increases beyond the point where it makes sense to have a virtual machine.

Also, I wouldn't go all way on RDM, just for the volumes of data. So the OS goes on VMFS throughout the rest of the ROW. Do not think to much about performance, like lately the differences between VMFS and RDM are negligible.

  • Increase the volume for the data store

    Hello

    Someone recognizes this problem?

When you try to increase a volume of data store in vSphere4 we get the following message: "error during the configuration of the host. Failed to get the disk partition information.

We use a MSA2324 of HP storage as a storage (data store) to our servers of vSphere. I increased the volume of the utility interface HP Storage manager 1.5 TB to 2.2 TB. So far so good. But when I try to increase the datastore in vSphere, this error message occurs.

I've done this before, but now it doesn't seem to work. We have 25 active servers attached to this data store. I REALLY want to increase this volume online. It will probably work if I stop all virtual servers, restart the server VSphere and then increase the volume.

  • move volumes of storage of 2 controller controller 1

    Hi guys,.

I want to pass some volumes through to the other controller to redistribute space, as everything on controller 2 is to complete research.

What is the best way to move overall, then the data on the disks of controller 1?

    Controller 1:

There are 2 ways for this survey:

    1. license replicate if you can replicate a volume of Compellent to Compellent 1 2, and then delete on 2 Compellent in order to free up space.

    2. choose 1 2 Compellent volume which should be move free space - we call it as Volumea. Create volumes on 1 Compellent, onto a server (which has the Volumea). Data copy of its new volume (copy OS level). Remove the Volumea on 2 Compellent.

You can also expire the replay, delete any volume of United Nations-use on 2 Compellent.

  • How to change the name of a volume iSCSI target?

How the name of a volume iSCSI target can be changed?  I created a volume with a typo in a letter.   The volume production data on it now so I can not just it delete and recreate the problem.   It's not a big deal, but it doesn't look good either.

It's on a PS6100.   When I go into the properties of the Volume in the advance tab I can see the iSCSI name, but cannot change it.  All I change is the public alias.  But it does no good that the name appears in the vCenter with the misspelled name.

So how can I change the iSCSI name?

Or am I stuck creating a new volume and telling them to migrate their data for spelling can be fixed?

    See you soon

Part of the iSCSI specification is that target names must be unique.  Therefore, once created, you cannot change the name of the volume.

  • Levels of raid Volumes Compellent

    Hello.

We are looking into buying a Bay Compellent, Dell, but before I look for in its technology.

Unfortunately, the few public records on the SC8000 are very brief.

I'm looking for information how the table handles its raids, from what ive understood, when you create a volume, some data will be placed on raid 10, some on raid 5 and some might end up on raid6 (prioritization).

But the definition of these levels of raid? They simply come from all disks of a certain type, say raid10 ssd and SAS - NL's raid6. or are they built raids more as how 3par manages the CPG, creating mini-raids out of pieces of different discs?

HP also has a wealth of easily accessible information about the paintings of 3par, I can't find anything for compellent :(

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/PSI/manualsResults?sp4ts.Oid=5044394&AC.admitted=1388181376886.876444892.199480143

OK - if really it's better done in person with someone who can demo and animate the allocations of blocks for you.

    BUT

Compellent storage virtualized Tier - so, for each level of storage (which are defined by the disks of like I/O features such as speed control, flash type, etc.) all of the devices used to treat each IO.  HDS let each LUN to have several RAID algorithms in use at the same time. The ideal on this would be to have write operations occur in RAID 10 (fastest to write) and read operations to get the RAID5/6 (more effective space). RAID types reserve NOT a specific amount of physical disks - but rather function as a method of organizing for blocks of different LUNS across all the disks in a pane.

Data Progression (Tiering) extends this feature to allow volumes exist with blocks into several levels based on age and the activity of each block. The LUN is presented as there is no difference for servers based on the location of the data and the blocks can be shifted dynamically as criteria. Recently given Progression has been expanded to allow the mixing of writing optimized and read optimized Flash SSD levels that revolutionize the market tables around without resorting to the use of SSDS as a front-end cache. Data is transferred more quickly, then a normal progression among the readers of optimized for reading writing optimized SSD to keep performance levels greater than 100 K IOPS / s while valuing the cost differences inherent in MLC drives (they are cheaper).

    http://www.Dell.com/learn/us/en/qto08/shared-content~data-sheets~en/documents~Dell-Compellent-software-suite.PDF

One thing that really sets storage Compellent, is that the license is NOT related to the material. If a controller SC8000 can be replaced without purchase of multiple licenses or invalidate the original license. The license is perpetual and abstract the hardware that is used. So if I have a HDS I bought 5 years through a license for all the features for 16 disks I can apply this license to SC8000 controllers and SSDS (up to 16 spare non-pieces) and start using it.

I think that if you use this site as your jumping off point - http://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/04/dcm/flash-storage you will find a lot of information just look at software storage Center rather than the specific hardware building blocks.

    Hi John,.

Yes, you can delete the system volume information data if not to use the system restore.

You will need to give permission to the folder until you delete it.

How to open a file if I get an access denied message?
