iPod nano not recognized

Hi people,

Here's my problem. I have two iPod nanos. One is a 8 GB, 4 years old, one is a 16 GB, age of two weeks. I was their sync to my new laptop aged from 1 month (running windows 10). Now, when I Plug one of them in, itunes says it can detect an ipod, but cannot therefore no synchronization ID. I do not see it is the iPod because it just started to happen with both at the same time. Any ideas? I already followed the advice found here If iTunes does not your iPad, iPhone or iPod - Apple Support and which did not help either. I have the computer to run a pilot if at least ipods load, but that's all I got to this point.

Thank you!

iPods will charge from any USB port powered, even if iTunes is not installed on the computer.  They charge also of a power adapter USB (like the type that comes with the iPhone or any other device), no computer at all.

This Apple support document (the one you linked to) is quite comprehensive.  If you already went through these basic troubleshooting steps and technical, the other thing to try is to completely remove iTunes (and related software components) and reinstall the latest version.  Curiously, the Apple has a document for this procedure, but recently deleted 'Windows 10' from its description.  But you can find this document here

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 - Apple Support

and also do an Internet search for stories of (non-Apple) on this subject.  The key point is to remove all the components of iTunes (not just "iTunes") and do it in the exact order shown.  After removing the existing installation of iTunes, download and install the latest version from here

Whenever I connect my iPod classic to iTunes (Windows 10) is not recognized. iTunes then freezes after awhile of trying, it is recognized by iTunes. You can see everything on the iPod, but you cannot synchronize. Then I have to restore the iPod, but you can not recharge music etc. as the sync box has been ticked in the recent update. Then you can charge all your music which takes about 8 hours. WHY! Is this because Apple won't use their classic iPod more or what.

  • iPod is not recognized on Portege series

Third time trying to get an answer to this problem of this forum.

Have reinstalled the software from the recovery CD.

    Yes, I have installed iTunes.

The USB port will now speak and read a memory stick - good.

BUT when I plug in the iPod it is recognoized as an iPoD but the dialog box install new hardware wizard comes up and we're back to where we started. After only 2 cycles now does not even recognize iPod when it is connected.

I'm at my wits end. Between me and my kids, we have several iPODs and iTunes seems to be only able to manage an iPOD by computer there are several computers to manage them - so really need this to work on the laptop.

I found your other discussions on this topic:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=102975#102975

According to you the message there is nothing wrong with the laptop or USB port because after using Recovery CD and the installation of new windows, the iPod stands!

Note that Windows can be a mess if you always change and connect different USB devices!
In most cases the keys of registry and drivers are confused ant therefore defrost the USB cannot be recognized again!

You should ALWAYS use the 'USB safety remove option' before disconnecting the USB device!
Ensure that you have installed all Windows patches and patches!

If the USB ports will not recognize the iPod try to remove all device manager, and then connect your iPod again! Sometimes, it helps.

  • iPod (Nano) not listed is not in Explorer or iTunes after upgrade (Vista Home Premium 32 bit to 7 Home Premium 32 bit)

I took the advice of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and uninstalled iTunes before the upgrade and then re-installed after.  Now my iPod no longer appears in the Explorer or iTunes, but iTunes has shown once after having been unplugged , offers that it has been corrupted and that it needed a software reset.

The fact iPod appears in disk management and if I manually assign a drive letter the file structure seems intact and I can manually play the mp3 files.

Device Manager (under portable devices) poster 'WPD filesystem Volume driver ' with an exclamation icon and the status of the device "this device cannot start. (Code 10) ».

In devices and printers, I have "Apple iPod USB Device " (with the exclamation mark icon) under devices and "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver " under Unspecified.

Apple iPod USB Device - functions of the device:

    • WPD file system Volume driver
      on UMBus enumerator
This device cannot start. (Code 10).
    • Apple iPod USB Device
on the USB mass storage device
This device does not work correctly.
    • USB mass storage device
This device does not work correctly.

My computer about a month and more than the specifications for the performance of iTunes.  I tried to uninstall all the Apple software and reinstall from scratch.  I tried this after deleting the WPD entry and experienced in obtaining iPod detected prior to installation and after.  Any of these solve the problem.

I just installed the latest (9.0.2.25) update to iTunes, but that did not help either.

Another thing I noticed that may apply, is that if you upgrade iTunes once a connection failed to the iPod, the installation stops at where he is "stopping services...." ».  Audit Services shows that the iPod Service stops, but he never does and a reboot is required to reach a State where it cannot be stopped.

Well, it was logical that since it was Windows that had changed and not the iPod or iTunes and the error was on a Microsoft driver, I should ask about it here.

I had already followed all the instructions I could find Apple on the uninstalling and reinstalling, but lucky I did it all again.

I tried to plug the iPod with No Apple software present and got the same error WPD.  Hmm... weird, Windows should not see it as a USB key?

I tried to plug in my old iRiver T10 and saw the same mistake WPD, but Windows it mapped to a drive letter and showed its content.

Reinstalled iTunes, but it has not always worked.

Then I asked myself what would happen if I assigned manually a drive letter in disk management... all of a sudden, everything works!

So what's happening?  My guess is that Windows is trying to use a drive letter that has already been used by another reader.  Or maybe just do not assign one at all.  I see no reason why he would do this.  I checked carefully assigned drive letters and they are all the same as they were in Vista.

  • Downloaded new itunes now iPod not recognized. Uninstalled and reinstalled. No sign of the driver on the list of devices iPod win 10. Tried the other fixes - what do I do now?

With the help of Windows 10. Downloaded latest version of iTunes (should have been better). Now iPod Nano not recognized. Tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes without result. Check the list of device driver - no sign of the iPod device driver. Read various tips listed here, but nothing seems to work. How can I get the driver?

    Douglas

The 'driver' is here.  It is part of the installation of iTunes.  When you connect it, the iPod screen indicates it is connected, by showing 'do not disconnect' or 'Connected' or another indication that there is a data connection with the computer?  If it shows that the battery symbol, there may be another problem that requires no software and 'drivers '.

If the iPod has a data connection (but he does not appear in iTunes), you can use the procedure to completely uninstall iTunes and associated software components.  Can you only uninstall iTunes.  It's the Apple procedure, listing the components uninstall and uninstall specific order

Remove and reinstall iTunes and software for Windows 7 and later versions - Apple Support components

After you have uninstalled all parts of the installation of iTunes, download and reinstall the latest version available
