vSocket vs vCore

Hello to all,

STO leggendo very merito al mio dilemma.

Assegnare ad una VM 4 Socket oppure con 1 Socket 4 Core.

ORA, visto vostra esperienza, sono who a chiedervi is told e option ' recycling just ad UN discorso di licenza OS / software.

oppure prestazioni in cambiano have failures, dover quindi, caso per caso, quale sia meglio adottare soluzione study?

Come detto precedentemente, da cio che ho letto, seems to me solo essere per UN discorso OS / software.

Grazie di a vostro parere.

Ivan

Ciao,.

in General, he new main e he conteggio dei socket che viene fatto dal Guest OS, not only by vincoli di licenza di try also material supportati. You can start a leggere qualcosa which:

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=1010184

Vedi ad esempio Dove come molti core passare a Windows2003 che by limit gestirebbe solo 4 cpu, 4 socket ovvero UN.

CI sono anche altri problemi come ad esempio gestione dei nodi NUMA ft da parte delle processor multicore, you'll find plenty articles a riguardo, riassumere it tutto which verrebbe molto lungo. It e ad esempio a post Frank Denneman di some anno fa molto di ben fatto:

http://frankdenneman.nl/2010/09/13/ESX-4-1-NUMA-scheduling/

Reed is e reported a vSphere 4.1, the quiet di come funziona UN sistema numa e ancora valida.

Ciao,.

  • Very high values of CPU Vcore

    Hello

After that I noticed that my MacBook Pro (15 ", mid-2014, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, El Capitan) started running without apparent heavy load, I installed iStat Menus to check the temperature of my hardware.

The time seemed right, however I noticed that the CPU VCore values were extremely high, being around 1.77 V, while I knew that they were not supposed to exceed 1.40!

I tried to reset the SMC, but statistics are the same.

Here is a screenshot of them:

    I'm not overclocking my computer.

The values of VCore supposed to be so high on this model? I tried searching online, I found another user with the same questions but no answers.

    Hi Oceansoul221,

I have exactly the same problem after I noticed that my macbook runs just stupidly hot, I think I use the same as you, but with the 2.5 Ghz i7 (which I think is the i7-4870HQ model) and the GT 750 M. Given my experience with desktop processors a Vcore of 1, 8V is crazy, which probably makes me think the reporting software may be wrong (may be an estimate rather than an actual reading). Or it could also be this laptop CPU variants are very different to the Office counter parties (but I could not find the technical information of intel). I checked the Vcore on an old laptop of mine using an i5 - 2520 m and is not further 1.150V on the vcore. I contacted the manufacturer of the app and intel, for more information. Will run some tests on my bootcamp windows partition (where I have a better knowledge of the measurement software), will let you know.

  • optimize vCPU, vCore, vRAM

    Hello world

I just my vmware licensing essentials ESXi5 for my servers 2 dell housed in Peer1 in London.

In short, their specification (for each) is:

    -128 GB of RAM

    -2 x CPU Intel 2, 5 GHz 6 carrots == > 12 hearts == > and probably 24 with hyperthreading.

    -2 x 2 TB storage

Usage: technical analysis soft is derived of financial markets (lots of data to manage Thomson Reuters)

I chose to buy huge RAM because mysql cluster I' average im consuming (in memory DB)

On each server, I have 4 VM, all currently running 6 Debian squeeze.

-On the first 'just' a server acting as a loadbalancer (Web Oracle iPlanet Server 7): for failover and session load balancing

-On a second, a Java application server (Glassfish 3.1.2.2: allowed all the java files for the soft and linked to the loadbalancer)

-On a third, 'just' a Manager for mysql cluster 7.2 (no data)

-On the fourth, the data node with data, the consumption of RAM.

Without VMware I would have reserved approximately:

-4 GB of RAM for the first machine virtual (restrict)

-20 GB of RAM for the second VM (Java Application Server) + Java application server must support a load too (2 vCPU?)

-4 GB of RAM for the third VM (mysql Manager)

-100 GB of RAM for the fourth VM (mysql nodes) + I know that the cluster needs at least 8 cores to the best way to run (vCPU?, VCores? both?)

So now, I would use the best values as vCPU, vCores... .and enjoy the firewall sharing Transparent, hot air balloon, Exchange...

I know that only use the same operating system is good if I use some models after the first installation, it is not (for sharing P. of t.)?

But I did exactly what to do with the vCPU, vCores...

I read on best practices, but... your help will be most welcome!

Thank you for your advice, Dream Team adavance!  ;-)

Sounds like a very terse answer, but this is precisely what needs to happen... someone needs to help and give you appropriate responses AFTER they analyze the environment.

  • VM ESXi 2 times with 2 vCPUs and 3 vCores

    Hello

First offshore, I use ESXi 5.1 and the sage of material I use is 2 x Hexcore X 5650 2.67 GHz, 48 GB of RAM and RAID 1 SAS 15 k disks 600GO

I ran into a problem where I bought a server spec higher to go along with our other our dedicated hosting company, however, I went Dual cores to processors dual hexcore that now puts me over my limit of 8 cores on ESXi.

So my question is, that I can only use a maximum of 8 cores per virtual machine and I have 12 available physical cores, would be 2 virtual machines with 2vCPUs and 3 vCores use all 12 physical cores, or would it still restricted to using only 8 of these carrots?

Also, wouldn't be good (balanced load) the idea of using 2 VM with 2vCPUs and 4 vCores?

    All advice and guidance welcome.

    Hi Welcome to the communities.

    LiamWheldon wrote:

I went from double hearts of processors dual hexcore that now puts me over my limit of 8 cores on ESXi.

The limit of 8 cores is without limit to the ESXi, but for virtual machines. Your ESXi can use all cores of your physical. Your virtual machines can only use 8 vCPUs (up to the standard license. Enterprise and Enterprise plus can vCPUs 32/64)

So that already answers your question:

So my question is, that I can only use a maximum of 8 cores per virtual machine and I have 12 available physical cores, would be 2 virtual machines with 2vCPUs and 3 vCores use all 12 physical cores, or would it still restricted to using only 8 of these carrots?

Your ESXi host will use all 12 physical cores. By default, each vCPU contributes to a logical core, which is a physical core if you disabled hyperthreading.

Also, wouldn't be good (balanced load) the idea of using 2 VM with 2vCPUs and 4 vCores?

I would recommend not only to assign as many vCPUs to the virtual machines that you can, but start with little vCPU and increase in this number, as you can see on the guest workload is high that you need more vCPUs. less can be more in virtual environments, try not just to migrate your 1to1 physical servers to virtual.

For quick theoretical example: If you got 4 physical cores and 2 VMS with 4 vCPUs each, each physical heart will serve 2 vCPUs. In this example two virtual machines can run faster with only one or two vCPUs earch.

    Concerning

  • vCores - RAM and use of HD

    Hi all

I have a question regarding the use of the virtual hearts on a computer.

I have an AMD Phenom II X 4 3.0 CPU with 24 GB of ram and 1.5 to SATA HD Raid 1.

With carrots 4 means I can create 4 virtual machines to each 1 kernel?

If for example I want to create 6 virtual machines with 1 base, 3 GB ram and 200 GB each, because I know for example that 3 of them will have a very low CPU usage, I can do this?

More information on an exodus of system (with no GUI) Linux Debian standard with the foregoing record how much RAM and HD I should leave it to the operating system?

It doesn't work this way, vmware server can also take out of vCores. Therefore, you can create more and it still work (too much anymore cause slowness). For your Debian, it is then mapped to you condition. One of the benefits is that we can easily increase the space the VMDK and increase vCPU is why so it is advisable to create a little and then only increase if necessary.

I suspect that the problem MAY be that Spotlight is reindexing your MBA.  If I'm not mistaken, it will stop eventually.

Your MBA needs a new battery.

    Remove CleanMyMac3:

    http://macpaw.com/support/CleanMyMac/Knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-CleanMyMac-3

    It is totally useless.

Install an application of speed of fan/temperature.

Open the activity monitor all THE PROCESSES and CPU to display values between high and low.

When you MBA gets hot, post pictures of both for review.

    Ciao.

  • iMac answers rained on awakening panic report

    Hello

I recently installed at El Capitan on my 2 machines, a Macbook Pro and iMac (27 ", end of 2012).

To have a clean install, I did it through starting on a USB key, formatting the drive, installation of El Capitan and installing all my apps.

Installed applications are the same on both machines, the only difference is that the iMac is booting from an external SSD hard drive plugged into a thunderbolt port, but it works like that for 2 years (the real hard disk is used exclusively for data).

The macBook works perfectly. But I have serious problems with the iMac. When I leave a few hours and come back to work on it, I have one of these cases:

    • I can not connect, I have the wheel spinning immediately, and I can't enter my password
    • or I can enter my password, but then the spinning wheel will appear before any application is displayed and I am also stuck
    • or the applications appear sometimes, but as soon as I try to work on one of them, it freezes or disappears. I can't even access the menu to make a stop, the menu items are displayed, but clicking on them does nothing. If I try to use spotlight (I wanted to launch the activity monitor), the window to enter my search term, but as soon as I type a single character, the window disappears, and the magnifying glass icon in the top bar

In all these cases, my only option is to turn off the iMac and restart it. Then it works without problem, until I let him sleep...

Earlier this week, when I was working on my iMac (after a reboot, of course), it crashed. I could copy the panic report and send it by e-mail, it can give some information about the nature of the question, I hope. Here it is:

Do you have an idea of what can ask these questions?

    Kind regards

    Patrick

The GPU seems to be defective. It is not unusual for such a mistake to appear for the first time after an upgrade of the system.

Do a 'genius' one appointment at an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider. You may need to leave the machine there for several days.

Back up the data on the internal disks before you turn on your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional - ask if you need advice.

If privacy is a concern, delete the partitions of data with the ability to write zeros * (do it only if you have at least two backups complete, independent, and you know how to restore on a blank disc from any one of them.) Do not delete the recovery partition, if it is present.

Keep your confidential data safe during the repair of the equipment

Apple recommends that you remove permission to a device in the iTunes store before serving.

    * One SSD has no need to be set to zero.

  • Suddenly my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 restarts

This is the error that appears when it is restarted. It happens at least 2 times a day randomly.

  • Old HP computer

I know that the chances of finding someone who can answer my question is thin.

I bought a used HP P6243W (that's all I could afford it) and I need to upgrade the processor (and cannot afford to make a mistake)

Website of HP says need me a processor am2 + with a maximum of 95w.

    I found a cheap Athlon 64 X 2 7750 Black Edition (am2 + / 95w).

Please if anyone knows please tell me if it will work to the motherboard.

I am not sure that the Black edition will work, however.  If you can find a standard Athlon X 2 7750, it might be preferable.

    Thanks to all...!

    I solved this problem.

There was a problem in the configuration of the VoltType. We have a cluster of bits.

  • Upgrade CPU ZV-6131us

Hello Forum HP. I need your knowledge and your suggestions. I have a Pavillion ZV-6131us with Windows XP Pro I want to change because I have a new laptop on order and support for some purposes XP APR 2014. I want to change the CPU, install Windows 7 (64-bit) and install an SSD.

CPU - I currently have a NewCastle AMD Athlon 64 3200 + socket 939, Vcore 1.5V, 89W CPU. CPU is available in laptops ZV6000/R4000 series were the Athlon 64 3200, 3500, 3800, 4000, Sempron 3200 and Sempron 3000. Also, I'll probably go with the Athlon 64 4000 (ADA4000DEP5AS) I've learned has been renamed and sold as the FX-53.

The Athlon 64 4000 swap is a type of "plug-n-play" to install? Next generation AMD CPU as the dual core X 2 can also be used?

    Athlon 64 X 2 3800 + P/N: ADA3800DAA5CD, socket 939, Vcore 1.3/1.35V, 89W

    Athlon 64 X 2 4200 + P/N: ADA4200DAA5CD, socket 939, Vcore 1.3/1.35V, 89W

    Athlon 64 X 2 4400 + P/N: ADV4400DAA6CD, socket 939, Vcore 1.3/1.35V, 89W

Windows 7 64 bit - loading Will this OS with no hardware compatibility / issues?

SSD - I can get a SSD IDE or an IDE 7200 RPM HARD drive with similar capabilities (64-100 GB) for almost the same price, so I'll try the SSD. An SSD will work in the ZV-6131us?

Bonus? -A new CPU, Win7, and BIOS update will allow me to increase the limit of 2GB memory ZV-6131us currently has? Y at - it a update system/mother card that exceeds this limit of 2 GB memory?

Current configuration: Pavilion ZV-6131us, Windows XP Pro x 86 (version 2002) SP3, AMD Athlon 64 3200 + (New Castle 939 socket, Vcore 1.5V, 89W), card system HP3085 with ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) Rev.00, BIOS F.17 (21/06/2005), 2 GB of memory, 256 GB primary HARD drive, 1 TB drive HARD school in optics drivebay caddy.

    Thank you.
    -Mike

This notebook is an office in the clothing of the laptop. You can install the Athlon64 4000 but not anything newer (dual-core). If you can find an IDE SSD it works perfectly. 64-bit Windows 7 will install and will work perfectly. It is a 64-bit system. The 2 gig RAM limit is going to be a problem, however. In my view, which is limited by the chipset. There is no more recent motherboard. I'm not sure that the Aero in Windows 7 Desktop will work, but I think the ATI xPress200 is Aero compatible. You might want to check before you upgrade.
