vSphere Client displays VM Annotations incorrectly

In the vSphere client, I clicked on a virtual machine and then click the Summary tab and added an annotation for this virtual machine.  Then I clicked on a different virtual machine, and the same annotation text appeared. I click on different virtual machines, it seems that the text of the Annotation isn't get updated until I click a virtual machine running, or (b) a virtual machine that has the text of the non-empty Annotation of its own.  It was using vSphere Client connected to a server vCenter 4.1.0 4.1.0.

Is this a known issue? Or am I doing something stupid? Is it possible to get the vSphere Client to display the current, correct the Annotation text for the virtual machine that is currently selected?

Thank you.

For guests, the update 1 build is 348481 for vCenter Server and the Client is 345043 vSphere.

Basically, I think the question was, that in the earlier version the annotation entry in the vmx file was not created by default. With the newer versions, the entry is created with an empty value (""). If at least workaround should solve the problem.

  • vSphere Client display language VI

Hi all. I try to help someone to find an answer to their question and at the same time answering the question for me. Basically, the problem is after you install the VI Client of vSphere that I am triyng to have the language that appears in English. I'm on PC with a Japanese version of Windows. I found the following command which presents some of the menu in English, but not all "vpxClient-local en_US'."

He States also according to the ESX and vCenter vCenter Server Installation Guide ESX 4 4 page 88 ' this selection controls the language for only the installer. When you use the vSphere Client to connect to vCenter Server system, vSphere Client appears in the language associated with the setting of locale on your machine. You can change this behavior with a statement from command line or by modifying the regional settings in the registry of the machine. See the Basic System Administration. "

For me, it means that I can change the default language permanently by editing the registry. Paragraph points me to the Basic System Administration guide (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_admin_guide.pdf) but there is no mention at all about editing the registry, or anything else related to the language in this guide.

If anyone knows what I have to change in the registry, that it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    See you soon

    Hello

I had the same problem and I ve tested the following command line:

local vpxclient-en              (now the vsphere client is English)

vpxclient - regional settings              (now the vsphere client is German)

It would be a nice feature to add a small language-drop-down list (same as use credentials to log on to windows)

  • vSphere Client reports an incorrect version of vCenter Virtual Appliance

vSphere Client 5.5 reports incorrect version of vCenter 5.5 Virtual Appliance. For example, vCVA build is 1891314, but in vSphere Client 5.5 GUI shows like 1891313 or vCVA build is 2170515 (last U2a), but in vSphere Client 5.5 GUI shows as 2001466

I've updated the client to the latest version 1993072, but it made no difference.

  • VSphere client web - Remote Console error: unable to connect to the connection of mks (name of user and password) incorrect

    Hello

I am running vmware Fusion on my mac computer. I created a domain with 2 vm ESXI, VSPHERE client and a DC inside the merger. My mac is not inside the area, but can access the area through clearOS router which is also inside the virtual machine. my mac has IP 192.168.2.x and my management in the 10.0.0.x field segment

When I try to access a virtual machine on my esxi from my mac, I get the error failed to connect to the connection of mks (name of user and password) incorrect. I guess it has something to do with my mac is not in the area, but no idea how I can solve this problem?

  • vCenter 5.5 Web Client displays incorrect inventory

I have improved my vCenter to 5.1 5.5 and it works except the Web Client has the incorrect inventory data.  It lacks some virtual machines and has a few virtual computers ghost that do not exist in reality.  There are no error messages that indicate that the server is malfunctioning.  The really strange thing is that when I connect with the vSphere Client on Windows, everything is OK.  Veeam shows also all the correct inventory when it connects to the vCenter server.  If its only the Web Client that doesn't not.  Everyone knows this or have any ideas on how to force the Web Client to update?

Edit: I forgot to mention this is VCSA

I finally solved my problem. It turns out I used a version newer (v1.0.1).) OpenSSL that exports the key file in a different format.  You can tell because the content of the 'wrong' key file will be one - KEY PRIVATE START while the "correct content of the file key will have a----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY.»  I basically made the whole process of certificate using OpenSSL v0.9.8 below and of course, the--BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY was there and I was able to register the inventory service.

    Concerning

  • Impossible to connect to vCenter Server 5.5 using the vSphere Client

    Hello

I'm trying to configure VMware Lab home using the link below and I have reached a stage where I need to connect to vCenter Server using the vSphere client.

    http://boerlowie.WordPress.com/2011/12/13/building-the-ultimate-vSphere-lab-part-9-ESXi/

I installed the package of 5.5 full vCenter server using the simple installation option and it includes vCenter server, single sign - on, Webclient vSphere, vCenter server and vCenter Server inventory service. All the the latter is installed on a virtual machine that is running Windows server 2008 R2 guest OS.

Whenever I try to open a session on the vCenter Server uses the vSphere client, one of the following error is displayed.

    1. you do not have the permissions to connect to the server 'vCenter server IP address.

    2. cannot complete the connection incorrect username or password-, this error is visible when I do not specify domain\username domain user name and simply enter the user name.

For the details of the error, please see the screenshots - vSphere_client_1, vSphere_client_2 and vSphere_client_3.

As suggested in the link below, I tried to create an SPN and then set the SPN (Principal of Service name) and the UPN (User Principal name) in the Active Directory identity Source using the web of vSphere client (please see screenshot vSphere_Webclient_2)

    http://vinfrastructure.it/2014/01/issue-in-logging-into-vCenter-server-using-Windows-ad-credentials/

To fix the permission error, I tried to add the domain user to the Administrators group on the server vCenter (see screenshot vSphere_Webclient_1).

However, none of the above-mentioned resolution has worked.

So can someone please help? I am stuck because of this problem and badly need help to move forward.

    Thank you

Able to connect to the vSphere Client do you use the [email protected] account?

Have you already set up permissions on the server vCenter object?

  • vSphere Client: bad user name or password

    Hello

I'm new on the vSphere server and it seems that I made my first big mistake.

I installed a 6 of VMware ESXi server and I am not able to connect to the admin with the vSphere Client account more.

If I use the same credentials to log in via ssh or PowerCLI, I can connect and everything works. But when I use the vSphere client it says that the user name or password is incorrect.

I tried to add a new user in the shell but when I try to connect with this user via the vSphere Client, I get the message that the account does not have permission to open a session.

I also tried to use "pam_tally2 - user = root - reset" to reset the counter of failed connections, but it always says 0 failures and doesn't change anything for me.

Change the admin password (in the shell via passwd) doesn't help either.

Is it possible to grant permissions for connection the Client vSphere for users outside of the shell or the PowerCLI?

Or is it possible to "wake-up" or "unlock" my admin account?

    Thanks in advance,

  • vSphere client using the name Netbios on ESXi host does not connect using the credentials of a Windows session

I have 3 ESXi 5.5 hosts, all connected to a single server vCenter, where we try to authenticate directly to the host by using the windows logon credentials. I have installation of the Administrators group of ESX and filled with the admin accounts that I want to be able to authenticate to the host. The Netbios name of the domain is tstdomain (for example) where the domain name is tstdomain.com. If I connect directly to a host and check the checkbox 'Use Windows Session Credentials', the vSphere client will default by using the Netbios name of tstdomain\adminusername and the connection will fail indicating that the username and/or password is incorrect. If I enter the domain name of tstdomain.com\adminusername, I am able to connect to the host without error.

Does anyone know how get past that this matter have the vSphere client uses the domain name or to use the Netbios name and connect with the credentials to active directory? I looked by editing the file/etc/hosts and checked that the SPN of the host is correct in active directory with the command hostname setspn - l, with no luck on one. I also tried to change the field of research for the Netbios name of tstdomain rather than the tstdomain.com domain name, also did not work.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions on how to correct the problem.

Seems that this issue was due to a slow network and the connection timeout when you try to talk to the domain controller. I am able to connect with windows creds now, but the connection is very slow. I increased the default period of 30 to 60 seconds to help work around the problem.

  • Cannot connect my vsphere client to manage my host... pls help!

Thank you for reading... I'm new to esxi 5.1 and inherit a T110 Dell running a HD-250 GB for the OS (Esxi and Server 2008 r2) and 2-1 TB H.D for mirrow to SHARE DATA with the Microsoft software... (what a waste ah)

everything was fine until about 2 weeks that I'm unable to connect to manage the server, it gives me the error:

VSphere client could not connect to "IP address"

A unknown connection error has occurred. (The client may not send a request to the server. (La connexion sous-jacente a été fermée: une erreur inattendue s'est produite sur un envoi.))

If I point the browser to the IP Address of the host as: https://hostip (the page cannot be display)

    -Windows server is running

    -i can ping the Esxi

Problem is that I have to update the memory and I'm afraid that after I have does not connect... and then I'm in big trouble... because I hand turned on inside the Esxi server.

I did not backup, but the person in front of me was not do backups with veeam... instead they used a regular backup of windows on a USB software... I tried to create a re-usable collection and of course does not work... He was asking for a driver... I think it was for the hard drive... I free veeam now... but I can't connect it either... the box of Esxi.

I would be grateful for any suggestion... Thanks in advance.

You have access to the T110 Dell physical console?  Can you sign here?  If so, you could restart management agents:

You can also enable the shell that allows you to try all kinds of connectivity tests:

  • help with vsphere client

    Hi all

im a total newbie when it comes to vmware.

so, basically ive by learning to do visualization by myself because I poweredge 2 1950s during the sitting of the House doing nothing. so ive installed vmware esxi 5.5.0 on my server poweredge 1950 went to the IM address downloaded the vsphere client, put the username root and password waited then it comes up with "cannot complete, connect you because of incorrect username or password" where I can use the same username and password on the server to change the settings and get on no problem that continues?

    Thanks in advance callum

To me, this looks like a keyboard mapping problem, for example by using a witch of password for example special characters on a non - US keyboard.

Can you confirm that you have selected the correct keyboard layout during the installation of the host?

What you can try is to change the password to something simple (for example, no special characters, or ' z/y') to see if that helps you.

  • VSphere client light web - cannot select boot from ISO via the CD/DVD drive

I had used P2v to virtualize a Windows 7 machine and after the start he said that the "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. I think I need to run a repair using Windows 7 image and possibly launch a fixboot and fixmbr, but when I try to adjust the settings of the virtual machine using the web client to boot from the ISO it displays an error and the ok button to save the settings is grayed out. How is it doesn't let me do this?

Never mind. I got the VM running in Vsphere client while trying to change the setting in the web client.

  • Unable to connect to new ESXi 5.5 with vSphere Client hosts

Completed the new installation of ESXi 5.5 on two new Dell PowerEdge servers last night.

Trying to connect to them through the vSphere client fails.

I can ping both servers without any problems from the server where the vSphere client is installed (it is not a domain controller but a Windows 2003 server - it has not .net 3.5 SP1 is installed).

If I try to open the IP address of the host in a web browser http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx expires, however, if I try http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:902 It connects to the server, but rather than get the web page, I'm used to waiting with 5.1 I get this message:

"220 VMware authentication daemon Version 1.10: required SSL, ServerDaemonProtocol:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC, VMXARGS taken in charge, taken NFCSSL in charge." I get this exact message even though I have telnet to port 902.  So I know that I can speak to the host, but have no idea why I can't connect to it or they have the tools to display in a web browser. »

Try to use the same IP address with port 902 in the vSphere client to connect, I get this error:

vSphere Client could not connect to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

A unknown connection error has occurred. (The client received an invalid response from the server. (The server committed a protocol violation. Article = ResponseStatusLine))

I noticed that there was a lag of 2 hours and 4 minutes between the host server and the client's server.  I have reset the time to match up in the BIOS of the host server.  The test gave the same results.

Probably unrelated, but throw it out there in case it points to an answer, when executing the "Test management network", ping passes to the default gateway and the DNS server secondary (which is Google 8.8.8.8) but fails for the main DNS (local IP) server and host name resolution is faulty.

Ideas, help or solution would be much appreciated.  I need to get the network to this customer virtualized this week, and I would prefer not to have to go back to 5.1 if possible.

    Thank you

    This is resolved.

And it's one of those things that you just kick yourself for.

I tried this on two servers, Server 2003 and using IE8

Tested a theory using a VPN to my laptop Windows 8 IE 10 and it has worked perfectly, then tested on a Server 2008 R2 using IE9 and it worked perfectly.

Installed Chrome on the two Server 2003 servers and worked perfectly.

So in the end it was IE8 that was not compatible and all the problems at the origin!

Thanks again to you Andrew for trying to help!

    Mark

Ed.  In fact, this is the exact reason that it did not work
