VT turned on in the BIOS and still not possible to 64-bit clients

Hello

I use a laptop HP 4710 s with this processor:

Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo P8700 CPU 2.53 GHz

This CPU is supposed to have VT I enabled in the BIOS. / proc/cpuinfo shows the vmx extension. I'm still not able to use 64-bit clients. VMware server 2 logs show VT is not enabled in the BIOS, but it is.

I then tried the VMware CPUID utility and it also claims that VT is not there.

You think the issue in the BIOS? Or VMware products?

THX!

B.

I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but do you have off the box and then on it back since the change in the BIOS?  I've never had to do that before any time I activate VT myself, but who knows...  What host operating system running on the HP?  It is 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

  • Reconfigure RAID (Online Capacity Expansion) does not work for non Dell drives in the bios and is not available in OMSA for VMWare

VMWare users have found a solution for the following?

Readers of PERC H700 and H800 (firmware current 12.10.4 - 0001 A10, r610 servers) allow the user (in the bios during startup) to create new virtual disks using non Dell drives, but you cannot expand a virtual disk existing readers not Dell, when in the bios.  The option is grayed out.

OMSA for Windows bypasses it.  Virtual disk | Tasks | Reconfigure can do online capacity expansion and accepts disks not Dell for this.

Problem is OMSA to VMWare ESXi (v7.2, the current version and older versions) doesn't have a virtual disk tasks fall to the bottom.  You can not even a hard drive flashes.  (VMWare ESXi = v5.1)

The only solution we can think of is to have two drive arrays connected to the computer, and create a simple Windows with OMSA, boot in Windows Server to expand the virtual disk using OMSA for Windows.

I would be interested in the comments of others, including those of Dell.  We spent hours on the phone with Dell; This seems to be the only solution.  (Yes, Dell released a firmware version last year that has ceased blocking non Dell readers, but it only works for the creation of a new virtual disk, do not expanding one existing).

The firmware update the unlocked non certified discs was in July 2010 (two years ago).  No latest updates seem to speak of changes/updates to update that.

I don't know why uncertified discs would be blocked for a single operation (expansion/reconfigure) - are get you certain types of message that certainly is the case?  Did you do that with certified readers?  Last I heard, Dell had a firmware update in the works that would allow an extension to get the CTRL-R utility, where it historically could not be done from there.  12.10.4 as of 2012, I guess (if the Dell guy who told me he rode was OK) this update has not been released yet... However, I could be wrong.  I don't have a H700 to test with, but you can try OMSA live as an alternative to the construction of a temporary Windows Server to try the expansion of the OMSA.

    Hello

You tell us why you had to reinstall.

How to get into bios and disable (hardware or software (I don't know)) virtualization that I have to open mac osx 10.7 in vmware

Enter the BIOS and look in the Security section, as shown in the image below. If that's what you see, then activate the virtualization technology and it's done. You will be able to use Sun's VirtualBox and other virtualization programs later

Hello there is a problem with this laptop, the work of keyboard in the bios and in safe mode and during my convalescence... but it does not work in normal mode. (F12 wifi light is white)

    Thank you very much

    model: 15-r203nv rev: 2213-120 products: L0E81EA #AB7

    Hello

The fact that it does not work with a clean install starts to point to some kind of hardware problem, although it is strange that he will run in Mode without failure.

Click with the right button on the taskbar, select Manager tasks, click the Startup tab - right click on each entry in turn and select Disable.  Once completed, restart the computer and see if there is no change.

An update of the bios (F.39 Rev.A) is also available on the Product Page , which can be useful if you have not already done it - if you decide to apply, make sure you unplug all the devices (including the usb keyboard) before starting the update.

    Kind regards

I was told that all security USB connections is disabled in the BIOS. The only controls for this PC is USB ports for mouse and keyboard control ect.  How can I get into the bios without keyboard and mouse in operation? There is no other way to control this model computer. The only connections on this PC is only the USB connections. Again, if I can get somehow get into the BIOS I can enable security USB connections as it should.

    UPDATE,

    Fixed a problem.

I have install a market after card bipassing USB bios usb connections.  I went in the BIOS and turned on USB connections. I figured out the EASY DIFFICULTY and solved the problem myself. No other technology needed in this case.

    Very EASY SOLUTION!

  • Acer gateway ne570 won't boot upward and I tried the bios and it always detects the hard drive

I have an acer gateway ne570 and it does not start and I tried the bios and it always detects the hard drive but first boot priority is boot windows which is the only thing on the menu Manager startup options when you press on enter where the box "no boot device, press a key" comes after starting the laptop and when the gateway logo appears. I've had for over a year and the hard drive still works and my laptop didn't come with a recovery or recovery usb drive. And I also used the alt + f10 button that linked me right back to square "no boot device, press a key. Anyway, what should I do?

you need a PC to use the tool of creation of the windows window.

to boot from the CD or USB, press F12 on startup and choose the correct boot device.

  • Hard drive shows in the Bios and Device Manager but not in disk management.

I recently had a hard drive fail because of the excessive heat in the computer case (he also took a memory too). When I plug the drive as a secondary drive in any computer it will appear in the Bios and the Manager of devices, but not in disk management, nor can it be considered be as ZAR and Spinrite disk utility.

The disc spins up and down when turned on and seems to work. Just trying to recover data from the disk, so I can put it on a new drive.

    Any ideas?

If its not shown in disk management I would use this bootable HD to the utility check disk (probably all riders is set correctly?)

  • Area 51 ALX - does not start after the BIOS update - still in warranty

I was preparing my Area 51 ALX for Windows 8 (pre-ordered and expect it to be here Friday) and decided to update the BIOS to the A10 A11. Back on and now it just sits here with no output monitor and my keyboard/mouse TactX™ is not illuminated either. Fans seem to be 100% / 70%. I tried to reset the CMOS and nothing. I'm just here? The office is still under warranty until next February, I believe. I am disgusted seriously now because I looked forward to Windows 8, "Painkiller hell &.

"and to get some done coding. What a a day of . Don't know if this can help my case but I have been a customer for a long time from the time of Dell before. Had an old P2 Area 51, bought the m11x at launch and was still in talks with Ross Anthony to make a site of 'history' (although never, he eventually happen). I'm sure that set my m11x Win 8 will not work because it is stuck on super old graphics drivers. Can someone from Dell please help me here? Also, if I'm , is it possible to simply replace the motherboard myself? There are lots of tips on eBay.

At this point, there is a strong chance that the motherboard is brick and needs to be replaced. Fact he complete the update of the BIOS and restart on its own, or force you the reboot?
