Wear of keyboard

But little technical, after only ten months, the keyboard letters began to wear out. What can I do?

Hello

I don't think that it is possible to avoid this.
You can simply replace the keys.
Your laptop is on again, I think this should be a warranty issue.

Good bye

  • Wear of keyboard is covered by the warranty?

My w520 wear letter keyboard, some letters are worn or partially worn (white print on the keys).

I'm in third year of ownership. I didn't intend to keep for a long time, but I find the 'good old' so hard to share with of 7row keyboard.

I must say also that have more old thinkpad (x 40, 60 x) used and abused again with all the keys like new after 6 years

I've heard that some people in the United States has obtained new keyboards under warranty on their w5xx, free of charge, and no need to send the thinkpad.

Just called my local support from Lenovo (Italy)...

They said that the main doors labels are normal wear and tear and which was not covered by the warranty.

If I want a new keyboard, I must pay, still under warranty.

(Also they told me also that here we don't send you a box to deposit in the thinkpad, but it is the owner who must a generic box itself to source and wrap the thinkpad, they send just the mail.) )

Do you have an experience about it? (labels/new keyboard keyboard under warranty?)

If your keyboard is just worn out, the warranty covers the replacement.

However, if certain keys or mouse buttons stopped responding, it would be a different story. Then you would have the right to call and ask for a replacement keyboard.

I just replace the keyboard on my X220T on my own dime due to several keys very worn - and Yes, the machine is still under warranty.

    Good luck.

  • IMac, by default, the keyboard

I use an APPLE Wired Digital keyboard, when I press the key "a" I am me "az", even for the 'q' = 'qs' and 'w' = 'xw', 't' and 'y' (even in the capital) lost. I check again with the new keyboard with the same problem. I checked keyboard settings.

I launched "Applejack", active disk and permissions (no problem).

My iMac seems OK, but the only problem with keyboard?

Reset the SMC 2 or 3 times, if the problem persists after reset then try another USB keyboard and test. If the problem disappeared with the 2nd keyboard then you know the original is defective and must be replaced. Keyboards can and wear out or can be damaged because of the abuse of the owner.

  • Keyboard problems

    Hello

I run a 27 "iMac with OS X.10.5.  My wired keypad (MB110B/B) has recently developed a problem.

It seems to start in Excel that will be there normally and then it will begin to enter letters instead of numbers (on the keyboard extended & main).  The main qwerty keyboard letters are also scrambled / incorrect match.  After a minute or two, the computer will spontaneously shutdown (black screen, no warning) and then start to restart.

I tried to unplug the keyboard, reset the default keyboard preferences.  Recently, I ran disk utility & apart from a few problems of preferences, there is nothing significant.

I know that's not good to go.  I'm happy to help diagnose problems.  I just hope that this sounds familiar to anyone with a solution!

    Thank you.

    jHuckstep,

The most common solution is to do a Reset of the MSC. It's very simple to make and instructions can be found in iMac SMC and PRAM reset. Sometimes it takes 2-3 attempts for resets it to work. If it fails after 2-3 resets, then please try another USB keyboard to see if your original keyboard is a failure, they can and wear out.

  • Hit the buttons in the center of the keyboard causes reboot

Greetings. I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo, El Capitan (10.11.6), 6 GB, 640 GB hard drive, 15 "display.

Every once in a while, when I tap on a button in the center of the keyboard, the computer will restart. G, H and F keys seem to cause it. For awhile, I thought that it was limited to when I hit a key hard (I tend to type with a strong key pressure), now it does same when I'm softer. He's unpredictable, sometimes I can spend weeks without that happening, while at other times it can happen twice a day. It can also happen when I wear the portable peasantry with me in a bag; It seems that a moderate shaking can also cause it.

I now run El Capitan, but the problem also occurred in Mavericks.

I thought it might be caused by a micro-crack in the motherboard, a crack that would become perhaps wider when I hit the keyboard just right, and this expansion of the crack would cause a reboot. So, I thought to get a new motherboard (for various reasons, I can't buy another computer at the moment). I don't know what to buy, however.

If someone else has had a similar experience, any help would be appreciated.

Why don't you just make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for the service. If necessary to find an Apple Store - find a store - Apple?

  • Keyboard exhausted already?

So, I recently bought a 13 inch, Macbook air, around April, but it seems that the space bar and several of the keys are already exhausted, get a brilliant texture. Y at - it something I am doing wrong? I feel like they should not wear out so quickly.

Don't know what you describe? I got a Macbook Air for 2011, and my keyboard looks as it did when I bought it. Do you just a bunch of lotion on your hands?

Have you thought to do a keyboard overlay to protect the keys:

  • Portege R700 - keyboard cover

Toshiba or someone else to do a keyboard for the R700 series cover?

I want to preserve my laptop in State up, so wear the buttons is something I want to avoid with one of these translucent rubberized covers that I've seen for other laptops

    see you soon

    Ben

    Hi 1994F7PT,

As far as I know Toshiba doesn't offer this keyboard covers. I did a Google search for keyboard covers Portege R700 and I found a few offers, but for US keyboard. Maybe you can find a few keyboard covers for keyboard R700 and EU. Also take a look on eBay, you can also get a lot of laptop parts.

If you have found something you can post it here. I'm sure that it s interesting to other owners P700! :)

  • Re: Satellite A660 - keyboard backlight does not

I have an A660, and the backlight on the keyboard has stopped working. I'm plugged, the 'performance', the backlight power setting was 20 minutes ago (before I put the computer in hibernation to wear down) and now no backlight. FN Z allows you to regain control of the back-light UI, which displays "backlight on» I have to scroll, turn off the power. Turn it back on. Still no light.

Levant keyboard in Control Panel control shows that everything works correctly.

    Any ideas? Frustrated

PS: the power button is turned on, the 'Satellite' logo is on and the light for the trackpad lights up when turned on.

    Hey,.

Have you recently installed an update to the driver or software? If so I recommend to remove this update and test it again.
No doubt the restoration of the system to an earlier point could help get rid you of this update.

Also I would try to reinstall the package of added value. This tool can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba. It control special features like lighting enabled, etc.

    Check this box!

  • Should I turn off the keyboard and bluetooth mouse off?

    Hello

I'm new to Apple products and have recently purchased an iMac with keyboard and mouse compatible bluetooth.  The are a switch on each accessory to activate the bluetooth on or off.  Should I turn off after closing down to save the battery power or not this wear simply on the switches.  Not sure if stop actually stops transmitting wireless accessories, or if the latter uses the negligible power when the computer is turned off.

    Thank you

Yes switches turn off the wireless, and yes they use negligible power when the computer is turned off.

The genius bar people are especially good to physical problems and power problems. MacBook Pro my son got in because he was behaving strangely, and I run diagnostic and written tests the error code.

The genius powered on the MacBook, made a terrible face, picked up over his head and held the keyboard close to his ear. "You have bad fan!", he said. "And you have also run diagnostics and got an error code? What was this error code? »

The error code has turned out to be basically "Bad fan".

  • Replacement of keyboard G71 340US

Completely separate from my last question, I also decided to replace my keyboard like the wear on this one, it is impossible to read some of the labels on the keys now, not to mention the accidental loss of a key.  I could not figure out how to disconnect the current keyboard, or how to replace it with a new one.  I assume that meeting one of these challenges necessarily meets the other.  Can someone give me some advice on how to replace the keyboard?

I do not recommend using an electric screwdriver.

You accept all risk of damaging your laptop if you try this procedure.

  • Display 7 segments of the keyboard still shows a six

Hello, I am a student of renewable energy engineering and I have a problem with a circuit that I made. This circuit is composed on a 0-9 keyboard connected to a 74HC147, which is connected to a 4511BD, which is then connect to a red screen of seven segments with a common cathode.

The problem is that it doesn't matter which button on the keyboard I press on, the screen still shows a six.

I've ran out of ideas and I don't know why it does not work as it should.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me out, I'll let the ms11 here file. Thank you.

I already solved it, I just had to replace those no. buttons help NC buttons and had to add a few don't wear beside the 74147.
    Thank you, however.

  • is it possible to order a t520 for a thinkpad t510 laptop keyboard

    Hi all

I wonder if this is possible because I think it must be something with the t510 design since my friend has a t420 and its keyboard is great. Unfortunately this t510 (and for the record, I had 3 replacement of keyboard) and each of the keyboard felt good at the beginning but after some use, themeslves felt stronger keys to break it. Either I'm crazy, but I think that my keyboard goes through phases... where previously in a first time the keys are extremely difficult to push and after awhile the keys get really easy to push and after while it slowly keys type on this keyboard starts to become harder to press down. It's really hard to believe, but it's true. Perhaps a defect in the t510 keyboard or I'm so no luck getting the same problem 3 times now with these replacement keyboards. Laughing out loud

    Thank you

    The keyboard on the T510, T520, X 220, T410, T420, T410s, T420s, T400s, W510, W520 are intercompatibles. So the answer to your question is Yes.

Just look for the part number of the keyboard under the keyboard.

What you describe is possible, as initially the mechanism in various plastic did not, once it is worn in the optimal point, the key will be easier to type on. But as you use it more, the essential mechanism will eventually wear out and create difficulties that you explain.

Like car engine, there is wear in the period for the parts of the engine once the engine of the car will feel smoother and eventually it will wear out.

P.S. But what you describe will be visible for people who constantly typing on their keyboards at a very fast pace.

  • Microsoft keyboard is defective. They will not be guaranteed

I bouht a MS wireless keyboard and mouse model 3000 V2.o a year ago. The letters on the keyboard have dissipated, even if my use is very light and intermittent.

MS over the phone told me that it is normal wear and tear even if I find that it is supposed to be a 3-year warranty. It's very bad and disturbing. Microsoft should not be selling a keyboard that has the letters fade so that the keys are not readable.
Microsoft. to this day, refused to replace the product under their warranty.
I love the keyboard. If only I could read the letters about it. I don't think it's fair that I might have to paint over the letters with nail polish or something.
Can someone tell me someone at MS that I can contact to try and get this replaced?    Mel THX (I hope, I've done this right)

    Hello

The Microsoft Community is a site of support for Windows and other peer review
Microsoft products and here, most are volunteers. You have already been in contact with Microsoft
Support so there is really nothing we can do. You might try to contact them again and ask a
    supervisor.

You can get replacement stickers letter.
