  Hi all
  Three days ago, as I was using my laptop as usual. Then I restarted and then... just a black screen with an error message does not find a file any (I don't remember exactly) and making some weird sounds (such as the ' clicks')... sounds came the HARD drive I think because it's the right hand...
  I turned off it again and then some other error message (the black screen, white letters) asking for a file system... and weird sounds continued.

  now no more problem reboot... not more weird sounds, but with some performance issues... it has 1.2 GB of RAM and seems like he 'lost' speed... I can't use my iTUNES to listen to music cos is not working properly... I am now using winamp...

  Original title: problem with headphones from Windows 8.1 update

  I downloaded Windows 8.1 because my computer kept bugging me to do this. Every since then, I had problems with the sound on my computer. I "cancelled" my laptop HP for Windows 8, but sound problems remain.

  I have a laptop of HP 2000-2d19WM. I think the problem is with Realtek. I was advised to uninstall and reinstall realtek online. I've uninstalled it. Now, I can not re - install. I downloaded it from the Web to Realtek website and I get an error to start the wizard. It says Error Code:-5009: 0x8002802b when I do the Downloader. So, I downloaded the new drivers for Realtek via it HP Web site and "cancelled" my laptop HP for Windows 8. The problem is better but not completely gone.

  The sound is really weird and sounds as if I am under water when I use my headset. Even when I listen without headphones the sound is very low, no matter what I do. I'm not a computer genius, but I'm not a novice either so I was trying to find a solution for about 2 days now.

  I am beyond frustrated.

  I think it worked. I tried this but I also tried updating the drivers again and buying a whole new set of headphones. Between those three things, the sound seems to work again. Thanks Aarsh Sahai and thanks to everyone here for your help!

  Which microphone type you have (i.e. USB or 3.5 mm essentially)?

  Please run the diagnostic (DxDiag.exe) DirectX tool. When done, click on save all information to save it in a text file. The zip file and post it here.

  Go to tools > Options > Audio settings in Skype. What are the options for microphone do you have there? Make sure that the right one is selected. When you talk, the green bar moves vertically?

  Try to reset the settings in Skype:
  (1) exit Skype or use the Windows Task Manager to end Skype.exe.
  (2) open the Explorer, search for %AppData%. (3) find the Skype folder.
  (4) rename that folder to something like Skype_Old
  (5) now look at % temp%\skype.
  (6) delete the folder titled "DbTemp".
  (7) restart your computer, and then launch Skype
  
  You can still return your conversation history. This data is located in the folder that you renamed earlier.

  Looks like a malfunction of the internal speaker for me.

  But have you checked the sound settings?
  Go to control panel of-> sound-> playback and check the available devices.
  The speakers in this tab? And if so, the speakers are marked as default device?

  In addition it s worth it to reinstall the audio driver.
  I guess its Realtek sound card.

  So uninstall the driver audio Realtek (Control Panel-> programs) & features-> Realtek High definition audio driver.
  Go to Device Manager and remove the device (Intel audio display) in the region:
  Controller audio, video and game.
  Do the same in the area system devices: here to remove the entry: controller high definition audio.

  So finally reboot the device.
  After restarting again, windows system should recognize the devices automatically deleted.
  Wait that the devices have been installed. Now test the sound.
  If you would get not all sounds through the speakers, or via a headset, install the driver Realtek audio.

  But if this is not enough, I recommend to contact the service provider to check the speakers

  I think that you need to reinstall the audio driver. If this does not help, there may be a hardware problem with the speakers.

  1 update: Check for Windows updates and make sure you have the latest version of Direct X.

  2. make sure that you have the correct output selected under tools/options/devices/speakers oenological practices

  3 IF - you have an older version of FFDShow Tryouts or AC3 Filter installed, uninstall it.

  4. go in Control Panel sounds, located in the Panel of control under 'hardware and sound '. Double click on the speakers and turn off any improvement effects on the system.

• Sound problems on computer, cannot change the sound settings

  I had a long-standing problem in the audio settings of the Control Panel on Windows 7 where I can't change settings, configure anything or especially toggle of the devices. The options are there, but they have no effect when selected. Recently, I tried to connect my laptop to a TV, and as I could not set as the default audio device, I finally decided to try to fix things. I deleted and reinstalled the software Realtek my laptop and everything he has done is completely turn off my speakers, and all attempts to reactivate failed them. The unit displays in the control panel as a default active device, but claims of the taskbar that there are no speakers is connected, and if I click to set up the Realtek Audio, I have the same situation that before where absolutely nothing is happening.

  I tried troubleshooting sound problems, and all I get is the statement that an audio device is disabled, no attempt to fix or any option to enable. Apart from a system restore, that in general, I try to avoid, I feel that I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and only managed to make it worse. • Sound problem really very weird

  I have a really weird problem. I need to adjust the sound levels for a clip, so I export the sound to Cubase. The original sound has been left only lane, so I export it in mono to get into 2 channels. In Cubase, I do all the necessary balancing etc., then export it in stereo. (If I play this exported version, it plays in stereo). Then I import into Premiere Pro, but now he plays on the left channel.  Why?

  I'm glad you added this edition because that probably reveals the root of your problem.  I think that there is something you do not correctly in Cubase to export it in stereo.  I have reproduced your problem using a different DAW that allows 1) stereo, 2) Mono Split and 3) Mono exports.  You can also duplicate a stereo file L only at a second way Exchange channel and then select two channels and bounce audio since the two tracks to a stereo file.  With the swap of the second track, you get a stereo file R only, but this bouncing with the stereo file only L will produce a stereo L - R file that matter properly in first CS5.0.  I hope you can understand where the fold is in your export of Cubase.

• W510: Sound problem

  I have a weird problem with my w510. I use Windows 7 64-bit.

  The key on keyboard to deactivate/activate the sound is out of sync with OS icon that is, when I turn off the sound of the keyboard, the icon in the windows task bar turns to mute and when I turn the key on the keyboard, it gets muted on the operating system.

  Only problem is. The second problem is that I hear no sound at all... I just install drivers of Lenovo and its still the same.

  The Device Manager shows any incorrect installation.

  It looks like that the speakers themselves might have gone wrong. The sound card still seems to work, because you can hear the headphones and anything else connected to the Jack, probably. Unfortunately, the best thing would probably be to contact Lenovo Support to 1-800-565-3344 to see if you can get the speakers replaced.

• Windows Explorer does not and sound problems

  I'm running Vista (home edition) on a laptop and I'm having problems with my windows Explorer. The other day it was working fine and I have updated to service pack 2, after he installed my computer went crazy! My exporer windows keeps "not responding" and whenever he "closed the program" my office went nuts it shows not all of the icons (on my desktop) until I raised the Task Manager and the taskbar kept resetting itself to I don't know what. I would go in the taskbar properties and sometimes he let me check the power, network and sound icons and sometimes it would be grey so I could not. I uninstalled the update and it seems to work very well a bit, windows Explorer still fails sometimes well. What is really bugging me, is that a previous update messed with my sound, so sometimes I have to go into the Device Manager and disable then enable the sound to get it back (the driver is up-to-date). But sometimes the Explorer is not responding so I feel like I'm going in circles! The other problem is that after installing service pack 2 is my computer guard with "unexpected cases" and it still occurs even after uninstalling service pack 2. Does anyone have any ideas what the hell is happening? I ran all my software, adware, spyware viruses and everything else so I know that my computer is clean. It is service pack 2 or is it my computer? Also, I have an idea of what I'm doing, so I'm not a complete fool. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I don't have my 5 cups of coffee yet this morning.
