  • How can you find your wep or wpa key to go on the internet I have a linksky route

on the internet, computer wife XP runng had no problem, then when it turned on today that it asks for the wep or wpa key and I don't know what it is.

    Hi WILLIAMBERGEN,

In a wireless network, the WPA key is a password that protects the network against outside intrusion. If a wireless router is configured with WPA encryption, you need the WPA key for access to the network and to make changes to your network settings

We will check if the following is useful.

    a. open your web browser. In the address bar, type http://192.168.1.1 and press to enter. It is the default IP of many wireless routers. If this does not load a web page, see the manual of your router to the IP address of the configuration.

    b. on the screen that appears, you will be asked to enter your username and password. If you do not know your user name and password, try the default name of the user and the password of your router.

    c. If you are unable to log in or search for the user name and password of your router, reset the router.

    d. in your router settings, look for a "safety" or "wireless security" tab open this tab and the WPA key should be displayed.

You can contact the support of router for more information.

  • Where and how to find the wep or wpa security key?

I am trying to go to Xbox 360 live. I bought a direct card and it worked fine after that I entered the subscription on the map code. The next day, I was unable to sign. I have tried everything I know, but now he wants my wep or wpa security key. I didn't when I first adding them. I am usuing a wi - fi connection and cannot locate a wep or wpa security key. Can you possibly tell me where to find it?

    Hello

The WEP or WPA security key is stored on the page of the router. I suggest you to connect on the router's Web page and retrieve the key that could help connect the Xbox.

If the above mentioned steps article does not help, then it would be better to post the same question in the Xbox forum to get help. We have a dedicated team to help you with such questions.

  • Change from WEP to WPA

I would like to know the steps to change the setting from WEP to WPA security, including steps to change the name of the wireless network or SSID if necessary.

Here's the situation: our home wireless network use WEP as the security or setting Mode. Daughter just bought an Apple Mac, which she is told requires the creation of WPA. I made the change to WPA-Personal as your link educated, but only this change has turned off our ability to operate wireless in our home and internet network. An online chat agent failed to provide aid because of the question of the guarantee, but he suggested that the solution would be satisfied if he could guide me through to change the name of the wireless network or SSID. He didn't explain. What I need are not all and all to managed to get the WEP key WPA change. Thank you for your consideration.

  • Photosmart B 209 sees more WIFI network since I moved from WEP to WPA

My HP Photosmart worked fine until my ISP asked me to change the name of my WIRELESS network (which now includes the symbols underscore) and the type of protection increased from WEP to WPA... Paswword has not changed, it's just the type of protection

Since then, the printer can't see the WIFI network. I printed a network report and it says that I need to check that the network SSID & printers are the same...

My former network SSID is: Freebox and it has moved to: FREEBOX_BRUNO_DH.

Where is - this can be changed on the printer?

    Thanks for your help

    Concerning

Why your ISP dictates what will be the name of your SSID?   This is not good.   You can make your SSID name all you want, but I wouldn't use your ISP said.   This is YOUR network, do what you want.   Do the SSID and password for you.

  • WEP to WPA migration / easy deployment to wireless clients tools

    Hello

I would like to learn all the tools that I could use for the deployment of wireless to wireless clients settings in our local network. I came across some links in Microsoft using Group by AD (GPO) policy, but GPO seems more than one deployment of operating system or applications, have not seen anything that the wireless.

You know all the tools, Cisco wireless, or even MS GPO management clients if this can be done with easy deployment of WEP to WPA change.

The tool should deployment SSID, WPA pre-shared key.

    Concerning

    Hello

MS group policy will do, no problem.

If you create a new policy for your ad group (or use your default GP) and go to properties-> the Computer Configuration-> Windows settings-> security settings-> wireless-> Create New strategies-> follow all the next, next, next steps and then add the details of your WLAN.

If you use a separate policy to the default policy, make sure that the policy options you check otherwise default group policy will stop the new parameters being the subject of a push to your ORGANIZATIONAL unit. The next time that the machine joins the domain, the settings will be drawn down and can connect to the WLAN.

If you use a MS domain is the best way to do it (both with the help of your customer WZC) and no third party tools i.e. Intel etc.

    I hope this helps.

    See you soon

  • WEP vs WPA

We have a home network running 3 desktop via ethernet and 3 laptops via a Netgear WGT624 router with WEP security.  All boxes have XP Pro or XP home, and everything was fine until we got a new laptop running Win7.

The new Win7 box will not work on the network with WEP security, but works very well with WPA2.  But now laptop Compaq NC4010 with an adatper Intel Pro 2200BG Wireless will not work with WPA, but worked well with WEP.  I tried updating the driver for the wireless adapter, but it says that I have later.  Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello:

WEP should work on your PC W7... I have WEP works very well on all of my 3 connected wireless pc HP (nc8000, nc6400, dc7600) W7.

You broadcast your SSID?  If this isn't the case, set it to broadcast until you are connected. You have enabled MAC filtering?  If so, maybe you forgot to add the MAC address of the computer you menu filtering of MAC addresses of the router?

If you not broadcasting your SSID normally with WEP security, there is a box in W7, you must check in the advanced management features to your wireless connection which indicates "connect even if the SSID is not broadcast.»

This command is disabled by default and if you have not verified, it connects not unless you connect manually each time. Normally, it is checked in Windows XP.

How can I change my wep to a wpa key

type 192.168.0.1 in the URL bar of your browser (if it does not, type 192.168.1.1) and click on enter. Your router wireless page will appear. Connect to your router using your user name and password that you set them when configuring the router (user name is admin, unless you changed it). The settings you change will be in the settings or wireless settings menus, but it's different for several routers, so you will need to explore the menus. teengeek.freehostingcloud.com Microsoft community contributor

  • WPA-wireless - laptop upgrade from WEP to WPA

I have an old laptop Toshiba Tecra9000 XP and want to use it on my home wireless network.  Monitoring uses WPA security and the tecra has only WEP.   How and what I update. I was going to start with service pack 3, since mine has service pack 2.  But if SP2 can use WPA, I would prefer that.

Although SP2 does support WPA, you sure you're not referring to WPA2?  SP3 supports WPA2 or you can get an update for XP SP2 here WPA2:

  • WIRELESS CONNECTIONS - HOW TO ENTER WEP (or WPA) KEY AGAIN

    Hello

I'm trying to connect my new laptop to my wireless network.  When I select it, it tries to connect, fails and a troubleshooting option comes up. I don't know why it doesn't connect - it's because I have not entered the WEP key and it is not just ask for it.  When I click on other available networks, it asks for the WEP key.  In XP and earlier versions of windows, if I remember correctly, you can enter into network connections via Control Panel and change the internet settings and add keys WEP etc.  I tried a left click on my wireless network - 'connect' option appears.  I tried to go to thenetwork and sharing Center and selecting manage wireless networks where no network is on the list.  I tried everything that was logical.  Even the smart phones have an option where you can "forget network" and then search again and re-enter security keys.

Now my question is, why didn't he ask the WEP key?  More importantly, how I have manually?  An instruction step by step would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

[Note: I wrote the WEP key because that's what I use, I mean any kind of key, including WPA, etc.]

    Hello

Log in to the router security turned off and make sure that the new laptop can not when the connection is open.

If it's the connection fail safety and make a new password.

If your hardware is compatible with WPA use it, WEP is not really fixed.

  • Change the authentication of card network from WEP to WPA 2

I have the WNDR3400v2 of Netgear router. I have a laptop with win 7 and another on Windows 8. I have Time Warner cable internet service.
Currently I use a security key WEP with it as advised by netgear support in the early stages of the installation after the purchase of the unit. I realize that the key WPA2 is stronger than the WEP key. I should have told this by the customer and must have helped with WAP2 key features. But now I'm with WEP security key.
I intend to change the current WEP WPA 2 security key.  After going to the settings of the router on www.routerlogin.net, I changed the security to WPA2 key
After removing the netoworks previous, I added network manually in Control Panel of Windows 7 (add notwork wireless) and I tried to follow the instructions, I can see the network in the list of available networks but cannot connect to it. Radio message Intel says failed to connect with the DHCP server. Wired internet connection works fine, but no wireless connection. I'd appreciate any help on this matter.

I was able to reset the router if you plant. After that, the parameters have been a piece of cake. Thank you very much for the help in this regard. I don't know why he did not cooperate before you restore it. In any case I appreciate it. Thank you.

  • OfficeJet 7410 will not log on to the network because I can't change the security from WEP to WPA 2 Protocol

I have a Mac powerbook G4 running OS 10.4.11 and a Wireless N Router with WPA 2 security protection extreme Apple.  My Officejet 7410 has suddenly lost its ability to join the network.

Whenever I try to run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the 7410, it detects my network as a network available to join, but then asks me to enter a WEP password.  I get my password, the rotation of the gears on the screen of the printer for a minute or two, and then it displays that it is unable to join the network.

Since the extreme Apple uses WPA 2 security protocols, is the reason why the printer is not able to join the network because of his attempts to use WEP protocols?  I did a complete reset of Semi and then a full Reset, nothing helps.  I also tried selecting the option 'restore factory settings' menu without success.

I am able to connect to the printer using a USB cable, but the reason I bought it in the first place was because of the freedom of its wifi capabilities.

    Any suggestions?

My suggestions were a few ways to tell your printer on the network.  They are temporary connections used for this communication, and then are disconnected.  After this would connect you to your printer on your wireless network.

I think I know the problem: after reading the manual (new) it is specifically stated that this printer supports WPA but not WPA2. So make sure your airport the most practical (and Express) are set to WPA/WPA2 Personal utility Airport (not WPA2 Personal).

Your printer is probably the check on Airport Extreme and not the Express, so the Express in bridged mode is fine - you want only a DHCP service on your network, so looks like it is set up correctly.

  • WEP or WPA encryption

Today, I got a wifi card for my Tungsten E2.  I downloaded and installed the drivers and it works very well - with an unsecured network.  My home network is set up with WPA encryption, and I can't find anywhere that it is supported.  The only option I have for encryption is WEP.  I need to change my WEP encryption settings to connect to my home network?  I disabled the security on the router to test the connection and it worked - so I don't know that I'll be able to connect to a wifi hotspot.  Thanks in advance for the help!

Change your router to WEP.  There are two depths of - 64-bit and 128-bit parameters.

On the Palm, there will be 40 and 104 bit.  They correspond to the 64-bit and 128-bit on a computer.

Depending on how your router using passwords, it could be a string of hexadecimal numbers or a 'passphrase '.

For example, if you set your router to use WEP 64-bit, it will have a password to 10 digits (for example a533b6c2d5).  You must search for your network with the Palm, find it, then tell him to use WEP and 40-bit.  It will ask you 10 hexadecimal digits.  Fact.

  • Satellite M30-107: WPA and WEP security software

I want to connect my Satellite M30-107 P - M 745 to a network of wifi MIMO inverters to date.
I bought a router and a PCMCIA adapter.
I wish security WPA and WEP setup - I need any special software Toshiba on the PC itself to do so, or simply use the software that came with the router and adapter card?
    Thank you

    Hello

There is no software Toshiba for the WLAN settings. Toshiba has created the only monitoring software called ConfigFree. By using this software, you can watch the WLAN and LAN connections. This software can also help you identify a connectivity problem if occurs.

Back to your question: for WLAN settings, you can use the standard Windows WLAN settings or use WLAN data by software adapter settings. Please, make sure the wireless network adapter supports WEP and WPA encryption and also make sure you use the right settings on the router.
