WPA-wireless - laptop upgrade from WEP to WPA

I have an old laptop Toshiba Tecra9000 XP and want to use it on my home wireless network.  Monitoring uses WPA security and the tecra has only WEP.   How and what I update. I was going to start with service pack 3, since mine has service pack 2.  But if SP2 can use WPA, I would prefer that.

Although SP2 does support WPA, you sure you're not referring to WPA2?  SP3 supports WPA2 or you can get an update for XP SP2 here WPA2:

I would like to know the steps to change the setting from WEP to WPA security, including steps to change the name of the wireless network or SSID if necessary.

Here's the situation: our home wireless network use WEP as the security or setting Mode. Daughter just bought an Apple Mac, which she is told requires the creation of WPA. I made the change to WPA-Personal as your link educated, but only this change has turned off our ability to operate wireless in our home and internet network. An online chat agent failed to provide aid because of the question of the guarantee, but he suggested that the solution would be satisfied if he could guide me through to change the name of the wireless network or SSID. He didn't explain. What I need are not all and all to managed to get the WEP key WPA change. Thank you for your consideration.

  • Photosmart B 209 sees more WIFI network since I moved from WEP to WPA

My HP Photosmart worked fine until my ISP asked me to change the name of my WIRELESS network (which now includes the symbols underscore) and the type of protection increased from WEP to WPA... Paswword has not changed, it's just the type of protection

Since then, the printer can't see the WIFI network. I printed a network report and it says that I need to check that the network SSID & printers are the same...

My former network SSID is: Freebox and it has moved to: FREEBOX_BRUNO_DH.

Where is - this can be changed on the printer?

    Thanks for your help

    Concerning

Why your ISP dictates what will be the name of your SSID?   This is not good.   You can make your SSID name all you want, but I wouldn't use your ISP said.   This is YOUR network, do what you want.   Do the SSID and password for you.

    Besides what abdelhak says:

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

  • Driver for kit compatible with windows wireless printing upgrade 7

I just upgraded to windows 7 and I can't find a driver to install for my kit to upgrade to wireless printing.  Does anyone know if it is created?  I just bought the kit last year and I wouldn't go back to bring my laptop to the floor whenever I need to print.

    Hi @ll,

I just created a work around to install the driver correctly on a Windows 7 computer, did these steps on two machines and it works perfectly.

Just follow the following steps. Unfortunately I can't attach files here that I had created an Office document with screenshots to make it easier to follow. If you want that the document, please send me a note to send you it.

In order to install the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit Windows 7 follow these steps.

    1. download and install the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade software/base drivers (bought with the Windows Vista operating system computer)

    2. when installation reached 90 percent on the bar top and 10% to the bar downstairs it crashes.

    3. don't panic.

    4. right mouse click on the task bar and start the Task Manager.

    5. Select the wireless printing upgrade kit in the Applications tab and right mouse click and select go to process.

    6. stop the process called Setupwizard.exe

    7. you will get a pop up, indicating that the program probably was not properly installed and that you have two choices to select in what follows: Reinstall with the recommended settings and this program is correctly installed.

    8. choose to reinstall the program and Windows 7 appears the application for leave.

    9. after leaving, the installation files will be extracted again.

    10. you will see the Welcome screen once again.

    11. click on install, select I accept, Next.

    12. He'll find your adapter printer showing the connected device.

    13. click Next and the installation continues.

14 at the end of the installation an HTML page is launched, saying: you need to install the printer software before you can use your printer.

    15. once all right mouse click on the connection in the task bar Manager, select Connect and Plug and Play will install the printer driver as if the printer is connected directly to the PC.

If the P & P does not find the driver, or strike not in you can try with Windows Update, if the driver is there, it will be installed, otherwise use the CD, you might have.

16 start, for example, Microsoft Office Word 2007 and to send a print job in the drop-down menu, you can select the printer that was installed.

17 scanning also works that I used Microsoft Office Document Imaging to scan from the PSC 2210.

  • Main problems after upgrading from XP to Vista on Qosmio F20

I have recently upgraded from XP to Vista on my Qosmio F20 and having problems. It seems that I lost the ability to change screen resolutions, to adjust the volume, brightness, etc. Basically, I lost the laptop functions. I also tried updating the BIOS but get the following error message "BiOS update only is not supported OS - unsupported OS or service pack installed.»

This also makes very slow computer.

You now have a few questions, or you wrote just a report on your experience of Vista on Qosmio F20?

The fact is that Toshiba does not support Vista on this laptop model and thereby you will ever complete Vista of operation (including the Toshiba tools and utilities). For supported laptops, Toshiba offered special Vista supporting BIOS but for your laptop, this update of the BIOS does not exist.

    Sorry! :(

Is this smart upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10?

Does anyone have any experience with the upgrade to windows 10? (both good or bad)

    1. the older system with Win7 should not go Win10 that HP provides no support any drivers for it unless it was made in 2013.

    2. your specific HP PS comment is false with no facts to backup. We should refrain from making these comments - does nothing to help other users.

    Hello world

    Details of portable illustrated signature.

I need to upgrade my Vista to XP Pro laptop. The HP site does not really provide any medium for XP as you can see here, it's just the quick launch buttons and the update of the HP software:

I have the software that is running vista other than the fact that I don't just not like vista used. I managed to get pretty much everything works under XP except for 1 driver missing in the device as Manager indicated below:

    Video (VGA Compatible) controller properties > details shows PCI/VEN_10DE & DEV_0845 & SUBSYS_360A103C & REV_A2\4 & 15DBADC5 & 0 & 0058

So what I'm looking for right now. Although it would be nice to have all the correct drrivers for this pc run XP (some of what I have work cannot be what he really need).

What is the new slogan of HP? "Do the PC again" or something like that... lol. Well, I like mine with a side of XP and Linux would take the vista please.

If anyone here knows what I'm looking for the driver? And if anyone knows where all the correct drivers for this laptop (apart from the one to sell them on ebay) it may be easier to post links to them now instead of having to deal with this issue later.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted

Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

    Hello

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

And the free update for 7/8.1 10 is over.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
