Hello there ingridt, welcome to the Forums!

I noticed your post on the scans of your Photosmart 6510, scan to your system from Vista in black and white. I want to offer my suggestions to you to see if they can help you with this.

First of all, try to launch the HP print and Scan Doctor who is used to fix the printing and scanning problems. You choose the option "Scanning" when the tool is run. It will inform you if the software is completely installed, or if there is a problem, it can not correct. If it detects an error and shows you a red 'X', I suggest then uninstall and reinstall.

Here are some links to help with uninstalling and reinstalling if you happen to do these steps.

    1. uninstalling the printer software

    2. restart your PC

    3 reinstall: Photosmart HP 6510 e-All-in-One Printer - B211a

Try a scan now and let me know how make you out!

    Good luck!

  • Why my pictures become black and white on my screensaver?

When my screensaver comes on, my personal photos appear.  After about 5 minutes, they become black

and white, as they begin to color.  Why is this happening?

Return to your screen saver options (by right-clicking on the desktop and choose personalize, then the screensaver below right.) Once there, click on the settings button.  See if your screen saver has an option 'theme '.  One of them is probably 'Black and White', and you have probably chosen the random theme, which means the black and white theme will appear later every few minutes.

  • Tecra A3: TV - black and white display

I have a Tecra A3, which I tried to connect to a TV via the S-video connection. Works, but the TV picture is black and white.

I tried to change the Graphics Options without result. These are currently on:
    Colors: True color.
    Screen area: 1024 x 768
    Video Standard PAL-B

Everyone you have any other suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hello

This unit has a S-video out. If your TV has only video then you will get only a black and white screen.
To get a color screen, you have a TV with S-video
Also, check if the TV works correctly with the standard NTSC video.

  • Qosmio G20-107: black and white TV in Ireland?

    Hello

Could you explain to me why my TV picture is black and white (with Guide) or color on UK settings (without Guide)?
My Qosmio G20-107 is the United Kingdom, and I live in Ireland.

    Hello

    I m not 100% sure, but I think that it s a question of PAL/SECAM/NTSC settings.
Each country or region uses different PAL/SECAM/NTSC setting.

As far as I know, the PAL is available in Europe and NTSC is available in the United States.
But European countries also support different parameters of PAL.

You should check if you are using the right PAL settings that exist in Ireland.

  • Qosmio G30: black and white photo via the S-video input

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 Win XP MCE running. I'm watching the TV from my digi via S-video sky box in the port within the media library. The problem is that the picture is black and white and not very good (lots of interlacing artifacts).

I checked the driver for the 'TOSHIBA PCI DVB-T/Analog Tuner hybrid' and I am running the latest version of Toshiba, I also checked the output settings on my Sky box digi, which are correct. Is there a resolution?

    Thank you.

Have you noticed the same result with Qosmioplayer and MCE?

  • is it possible to tell me how I can make program in labview that take black and with image pixels and give the coordinates of black or white pixels again to me.

    Hello everyone

is it possible to tell me how I can make program in labview that take black and with image pixels and give the coordinates of black or white pixels again to me.

It depends on the image and the module LabVIEW available to you. LabVIEW can open bitmap and png files and convert them into tables: if it's really a monochromatic (depth of 1 bit) you get a table 2D boolean, T for white, F for black. Just look at the index of the item to its details (don't forget that LabVIEW does not use the order of rows and columns, so you must transpose and reflect the table). If you have a 24 bit bitmap, the table will contain the color in hexadecimal synthesis (000000 for black, FFFFFF is white and so on); Yet once, you simply check if the element of the array correspond to your requirements and get its index.

With the vision that you module con open other pictures and perform advanced on them without convert them into tables. Anyway, you can just type the extension of your image using LabVIEW and see what you get.

Here is a code snippet to open a monochromatic image

  • What is black and white and gray everywhere?

I'm becoming an expert pre-press after an embarrassing error on a job that I sent to print last spring. All uppercase gray, lines and text boxes in the unable to print 12 pages newsletter. Bottom line, I sent the work to this printer from budget without conversion of RGB to CMYK, because she had been asked by the printer for the previous question.  The printer ate reprint costs about 200 information bulletins (probably because they felt they shared the responsibility for the error).  It is clear that I can't count on the directives of this printer.

The other thing you need to know is I am Freelancer, an American working in Germany and I have no direct communication with the printer - the customer is the intermediary. I use Adobe Indesign CS4 version 6.0.6, on a MacbookPro OS x 10.6.8.  The next issue of the newsletter is now coming my way.

The 12-page booklet is printed as follows:

front and back cover on coated stock in 4 colours,

inside front and back cover on coated stock in b & W,.

and interiors 8 pages in b & W in uncoated stock.

He had no problem printing of the previous edition, apart from the poor quality B & W photos and elements in grayscale in the inside pages. The only difference in the way I presented the second job was that I "converted" photos using layer effects in the appearance B & W, so I could better visualize how they would convert to grayscale (they stayed in the RGB color space).

All I can conclude is that when the printer saw the photos n & B, he assumed that I had in fact everything in the inside pages converted to grayscale and therefore does not check the presence of the RGB color space. The gray text box and line items that were in RGB transformed to match the amounts of CMY, which translates to white and left the plate! I should have known that he was a risk, but I did not.

Help me, if you understand what good practices will avoid such a mistake in the future. I have now read a lot of good resources on pre press, and I think now, I understand, but need to be reassured that I am on the right track.

The newsletter will be printed, but will also be linked to a website for viewing online as well as distributed in a version as an attachment to e-mail low-resolution. So, I try to understand what should be my workflow.

I should work in a RGB workflow until the client approves the work, then exit (a) using the PDF standard for offset printing CMYK to generate version to send to the printer. (b) then output another file using the PDF standard for the Web. and finally another using "smallest file size" for the distribution of electronic mail?

In other words, if none of the color conversions must be made in native Photoshop files in InDesign, or rather they should occur during the conversion from PDF using an appropriate standard? Or do I convert in Photoshop images to use in the inside pages to grayscale images and all images to use on the front and back cover to CMYK before creating the PDF file?  This, of course, would require not make two sets of images, one for the print version and the other for display on the Web.

Should I work with vector images and type in CMYK from the outset and keep my palette strictly in CMYK mode? Or should I work entirely in RGB and allow them to be converted to grayscale via PDF conversion?

There is the related question of the help of the two coated vs uncoated, stock that the client wants to reduce costs. The black and white inside pages in uncoated stock gave less satisfactory results in the first two ballots. Despite my efforts to improve and clarify the pictures in Photoshop, most of the printed values much darker and less strong than the photos on the coating. The two-tone gray in the banner (vector) values have been radically different when seen by side on pages 2 and 3 and on pages 10 and 11.

You can produce a PDF that has two modes of different output - coated stock for pages 1, 2, 11 and 12; and no coated stock for 3 to 10 pages?  This would solve the problem, or is there something more I should do with "Dot Gain" in my prepress that would solve this problem?

Here are a few assumptions I've done so far, after gleaning information from various sources:

    1. I have put my Adobe Bridge color definition of Europe General Purpose 2 preferences for screen and print.
    2. I guess I should use a RGB workflow up to the last moment before being submitted to the printer (to maintain flexibility and activate the exit for muliple purposes, for example, print and Web versious).
    3. I should check the printer which PDF standard is compatible with its RIP and gives him more flexibility to make adjustments for its RIP so we get the best printing results.
    4. Should I choose a profile to control upstream, such as the VIGC Live Preflight profiles (Ghent PDF Workgroup) to identify any potential problems of conformity with space color, transparency, text in excess, bad fonts, cropping, etc. before conversion to PDF.

Any advice you could offer would be appreciated.

Hi Peter, my biggest frustration is I can't communicate with the printer - there is remote, no time to talk with clients and speaks German. All I can think to do is inform how professionally prepare the files, and then write (and translated) a note describing what I did as well as possible. At least I will have done my "due diligence" and if there are problems with the work, the responsibility will be on him, if he didn't read the memo, or ask me to fix everything that does not work for its workflow. I will be certainly work in two files, one for one (K only) for uncoated and coated.

    Peter Spier says:

Said what Rob is OK, but I think in this case, given that the work, I think, goes on press and print on two different stocks, would probably prepare files for color on coated stock and the K-only on non-coated, but ask to the printer. Questions about the way they really want to receive your material to address them.

  • Photosmart C310: What models allow a black-and-white printing with low color cartridge?

I'm looking to replace my old HP Photosmart Premium all-in-One printer, because it works with reliability more. My biggest problems with this model are:
    1.)
I can't print in black and white when one or more of the color cartridges must be replaced
    2.)
The black ink cartridges work only sporadically. I lost a lot of money on the black ink cartridges that do not work, and I tried all the techniques of troubleshooting many times and no solution.
    3.)
I hate having to spend $100 + to replace the cartridges. It's such a scam!

I have teenagers who need the ability to print the homework on a very regular basis and in a timely. I can't spend another frantic morning, trying to get a printer (with new cartridges) to print!

I hope someone with a knowledge of the range of HP products can explain different types of all-in-one printers available to me... and which would be best suited to my needs. Ideally, I'd like to find one that allows to print in black and white ONLY when the color cartridges are low or exhausted - if there is such a thing?

Thanks in advance for any info, tips or advice anyone could offer!

    Hi @katvit74,

While I don't have any specific purchasing advice @katvit74, I can offer a few troubleshooting tips to see whether your printer is at the end of his life.

You're not the first to express frustration at having to have impoverished the cartridges replaced to continue printing. Personally, I suggest to use grayscale options, when printing so that the colored inks not so quickly adjust upward. Frankly, after reading your post again, I feel that you don't have want to solve your Photosmart Premium.

I value your time and do not want you to feel like I don't have. That being said, we will encircle your initial request. Maybe you would rather a system printer for 2 ink that the cartridge supports single mode, or maybe a Laserjet that prints black only. The printer you choose should be based on your needs. According to me, the best way I can help is to offer you the tool product Advisor.

I'm still learning photoshop and are passed to the application of the measures.  When I apply the actions of the system, I get a black and white scribble everywhere in my picture.  I imported stocks of larger than Gatsby and they don't play all, play is grayed out.  When I first tried to import the actions they were greyed out.  Does anyone have suggestions on what to do?

I see that you have used the Action of molten lead, and it is supposed to perform as in the screenshot.

So if you wish, you can reduce the opacity of the most recent layer which has been created, it is layer 1.
