What iMac fan speed should be run to?

I had an SSD on my iMac today and when I turned on the fan was running at speed over 4000 RPM. I did some research and found this seems to be common and I installed an app called SSD fan control that works very well. Currently, the fan runs at about 1500 rpm on SMART control. I just wanted to know if this is where it should be normally? Thank you!

I think that the idle speed for this model is 2 000 rpm. You can solve it without depending on a third-party software by purchasing a special OWC connector that allows the disk temperature sensor work properly.

    Hi John,.

    Please answer below

1 - What are the specifications of your laptop can handle 6 CS?

It depends on the application, you will use and install. Video applications such as Premiere pro, after effects have higher requirements as compared to InDesign, Illustrator etc. Please consult the specification for each application tecniques. This link will help with details:system requirements | Adobe Creative Suite 6

    2. then - I sign up for Creative Cloud services for, say, a few months and then suspend the service when I'm back at my desk? What is the price for this?

Yes, you can, you can find the details creative.adobe.com/plans prices

    3. then - I use Creative cloud when I don't have access to the Internet because the internet service is sporadic or nonexistent in northwoods?

No, you can't. You need internet at least once to activate the software.

    4. then - I easily transfer projects of portable 6 CS to CS 5.5 on desktop?

It is based on the file format. File as JPEG, PSD, TIFF etc. are universal and must work perfectly well between CS6 and CS5.5 However as INDD format will be a concern as InDesign file is saved in a newer version could not be opened directly in the old version.

    5. If not, can I just install my CS 5.5 in a new laptop?

    Yes, you can.

  • What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (E200 & Clip)

What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (using the pliers & E200)

I'm finally migrate to a pretty decent computer, after having struggled with a very SLOW Dell for another few years.

My USB transfer rates are MUCH faster than them - saved file (WAV), which took about an hour and a half to transfer on the Dell, Dell will transfer in maybe six or eight minutes on this new machine.

However, I still get a small fraction of what I think I should get - I didn't record the numbers (they vary somewhat from run to run) but I don't think I've EVER received anything faster than 2 megabytes per second when copying the Sansa to the computer. (Computer a Pentium dual-core, 2.8 GHz, 4 GB memory, running Vista 32 bit.)

It is not a problem of USB port on the computer - pretty pedestrian USB flash drives and cards MicroSD (USB card reader) will transfer at rates much higher than the Sansas.

Is this normal and something I have to live with, or is there something I can do to speed things up?  (I've done a lot of research, did not find much, but one thing I noticed was someone who said have received something like twice the throughput when using MTP mode, as it did when using MSC.)  Personally I don't want to use the MTP - I prefer a lot being able to drag and drop via windows shell folders Explorer standards rather than dealing with Media Player, synchronization, etc.

Well, I decided to look at a file copy operation - he actually hit 4.02 MB/sec for about two seconds.  Began slowly, gradually progressed a little faster that it happened, got to 3.80, then oscillated around a little, then a little up to 3.99, then hit 4.01 for a second or two, then fell back again and then up to 4.01 for maybe two seconds at the end.

So, faster than I thought, but still pretty stinkin' ' slow, given what can make USB 2 (and MADE do with other devices, so I know it isn't the computer - and the fact that it happens for you also confirms that it is not something unique to my situation).

So why are they so slow?

  • E535 fan speed fluctuates constantly

I have what I think, this is a common problem with edges: My E535, I got a little more than a week, starts quietly. Then after about 3 minutes the fan will increase to high speed, even under light load (e.g. only Firefox running and limited scrolling or other activity). After a few minutes at high speed stabilized, it starts cycling up and down, upward and down, up and down... This is being moderately annoying. It does this if the unit is plugged in or on battery power. It also happens when I'm doing other things... OpenOffice spreadsheets or word documents or even just letting the system sit idle.

I tried to change the settings with Power Manager, but for some reason, PM ends up crashing when I try to select a lower fan speed setting and a setting of normal brightness (level 10). The two issues could be related? I assume that similar positions for E530 and other seams it comes associated BIOS. Here's my info:

MS Windows 7 Home Edition Premium, Version 6.1.7601 SP 1, Build 7601

    Edge E535 model 3260CTO

    AMD A4-4300 M, Radeon HD

    BIOS LENOVO HHET75WW (2.08), 24/10/12

    SM BIOS 2.7

Thanks in advance for any help. I love the machine, except for this inconvenience!

No, I simply ran the update http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029728 utility

But now the problem is that the CPU fan is too passive. The laptop is very silent but overheating and choking the CPU if you do not limit the frequency of maximum processor which is annoying, but at least less annoying than the fluctuating fan.

Edit: I should say that it strangles 900 Mhz CPU for demanding applications, when the temperature reaches about 75 ° C until the temperature drops to 50 ° C. Being able to control the fan speed could solve this problem, but apparently you can not on the E535.

  • Start of satellite L10 fan speed and noise

My L10 cooling fan start always maximum speed, when it turns on it always burst at maximum speed (and noise) and then slow down to a speed (and slient relative). This fan start noise is very annoying (as fan departure every half hour in office work and every 15 minutes in some simple games).
I try muffler or bios settings performance they do not fix the noise and the starting speed.
Maybe Toshiba could release some bios update or patch or something to fix this? (my bios version 2.0)
Maybe this problem has the solution software thrid party?
Or the fan speed max is just a hardware problem?

    Thank you.

    Hello Albert

The same thing my Qosmio F20 and in my opinion, it is not any kind of technical problem. At the moment I'm typing this text and hear Internet radio at the same time. The cooling fan works regularly.

In my opinion, when the operating system runs several different processes running in the background and they need the CPU activity that needs to be cooled correctly. In my opinion, you should check the power settings management settings and change the performance of the processor to lower the level.

If the cooling fan runs every 15 minutes, in my opinion, it is not too often.

    Good bye

  • Satellite U500 - temperature/fan speed of degradation after overheating

The hard drive of my laptop suddenly developed a load of bad blocks without reason apparent, so I replaced it. I started a live linux CD to copy the old drive to the new and left running overnight. When I came back to him, he ran VERY hot. It's not well crushed.
    * Since then, the fan worked up a gear more often than before *, in the original Windows installation.
Use a temperature monitoring program, I can see a temperature which is constantly higher than both the CPU and GPU, and I think this must be the problem. I can only think that it is setting the fan speed based on this incorrect measure. I don't know where this temperature is measured, and unfortunately I do not know what it was before the problem started. The new HDD is cool, so it is impossible that the change that caused the problem.
Someone knows something I could try to fix this?

    Hi Blah_1,

You probably have a higher internal temperature because your new HARD 7200 RPM drive instead of 5400 RPM. For hard drives at 7200 RPM are originally more heat during the backup process racing portable to use high CPU if it s normal behavior that he s hotter than normal.

In any case, the laptop must be also cleaned from time to time using a jet of compressed air as described here:

  • DL180 G6 Server Rack - permanently at 80% fan speed

I bought a "SE326M1 G6 Twin Xeon Hex Core L5640 48 GB RAM HP Proliant DL180 G6 Server Rack 2U" on eBay. As he came not with all drives, I bought four caddies and some third party SATA hard disks. The computer works as such, but fans run constantly on the 80% fan speed and thus sounds like a rocket.

The logging of the ILO 2 displays the following warning:

"Error MESSAGE: 1717-Slot X Drive Array - the following discs declare a State of overheating:

The temperature of the ILO 2 storage area (five separate readings) reading displays 'OK' and 0 degrees centigrade for five. So, I assume that the 'sea of sensors' place the fan speed 80% because there is no available temperature.

    My current conclusion, which is no more;

    1. the hard drives is not a temperature sensor and I need to use four hard drives certified HP

    2. the sensors on the Drive Cage Assembly (HP-530946-001) are defective

    3. berries for empty drives must be filled with blanks

In order to exclude all these possible I have to spend very little money and time, and so I have the following questions.

    Issues related to the:

    1. do the disk drives HARD to have a temperature probe at all? Will they have, is the temperature read by the sea of sensors?

2 iLO 2 would display a temperature for the "storage area" even if there is no disk HARD drive in one of the 25 bays at all? If this is the case, it would tell me that the Drive Cage Assembly sensors are defective.

    3. fill the HARD drive bays with white makes temperature sensors start working? What I wonder if whites have an electronic or similar, or that they are just empty pieces of plastic?

  • Fan speed issue

Hey I have a question and a problem on my computer laptop speed fan, first of all my features:

    Acer V3 571G

    Intel core i5-3210 m 2.5 Ghz

    GeForce GT630M 2 GB

    10GB Ram DDR3

    HARD DRIVE 500 GB

    Windows 8.1

My windows and graphics card are both fully implemented to update later.

So the problem is that my Fan will not rotate at the speed of ROTATION more fast can when my PC is turned on high temperatures.

I use speedfan to monitor temperatures (even if you can't control the speed of the fan with it for laptops), the idle temp for my CPU is about 40-50 ° C and can can go up to 90 c during the game or after the games. what I do not understand why my CPU fan is not running at its RPM max, I thought he wasn't spinning on its RPM max when I rebooted my pc (to get into the BIOS) and heard the fan is running hard and fast when I stay in the BIOS, but when I get to the bios, he returned to his usual steady speed the laptop also cools extremely fast 90 c when I enter the BIOS after I restarted my laptop. My question is why the fan turning at this speed when my pc starts to heat everything at stake, or doing cpu intensive tasks?

I understand that when you start the laptop the fan speed are not controlled but then they turn to the max until what the bios is used to control its speed or something like that, I tried to look in the BIOS for the fan controls, but I couldn't find anything, the Bios itself had so few things that can be changed essentially only security, time and boot order. My laptop can be old (2 years) but I'm sure its not clogged with dust or he wouldn't be spinning on max when I turn it on and go into the bios and Yes adding thermal paste and others could help, but I would like to bring the question about why it is not spinning on max when possible. I will soon get a new pc, but for now I'm just curious to know is this problem is controllable or not.

any advice on how to control the speed or anything would be helpful, if you would like more information I will glady give more.

    Thank you
