What is a BIOHD-8

Pavilion MS213 all in the office, windows 7 64 bit.  S #4CS9370HLN P #NY645AA.  Download BIOHD-8 hard disk failure.  Have all ready replaced twice.  Need help please

Hello

It comes from another forum:

In a nutshell, this means that your hard drive has gone wrong.   It is!  I have experienced the same problem after that I ran the test diagnostic tools smart HP after my hard drive was not able to start.  He gave me the screen of the following messages:

Error code: BIOHD-8 (in red)

Error: A smart test hard disk failure

Suggestion: Backup your important data

Suggestion: Please contact HP support

After dealing with technical support of HP, it was the news I got.  So, I hope this helps everyone who has this problem and do not spend countless hours trying to figure what was wrong.  Technical support has been very helpful, but it took a lot of calls to get thru.

  • Recovery Manager starts not clean for reinstall Windows 7

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-110f who is 4 years old.  Everything was going well until a few weeks he started receiving messages RAID on start-up and other things little qwerky.  Then last week Dreaded BSOD has shown.  I shut down the computer and tried to restart, but got an error message that the computer failed to start.  Then, I tried everything I could think of-startup repair, tried to start without failure, partitioned disk recovery, System Restore - nothing has worked.  I have the HP but recovery media which had as my final choice.  I tried to do a clean reinstall today records, but now the Recovery Manager will yet come.  Can someone please help me get my OS back?

This is a result of SMART tests done on your hard drive.  It seems that your hard drive is dying and you should think about replacing, that's what means the BIOHD-8.  Retrieve all the data you can.

  • What are the causes of the biohd-8 error code? I have windows vista. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? If so, can you help me? Thank you.

When I try to start my computer... it does nothing. I don't understand. I tried searching on the internet and not had much luck. So, if there is someone out there who can help. I would really appreciate it.

The hard disk may be failing. It seems to be a problem with certain models of HP. See this:

  • Error BIOHD-2 but the computer works normally again

My HP, p6310y had problems starting recently, so I did the f9 diagnostics start upward and received the biohd-2 error message. After the diagnosis, the computer could start without a problem. Went looking for a specific diagnosis to the HD for my HD-WDC-WD10EADS65M2BxScSI - and after long and short scans - several times, everything going on.  But there are still some problems, although most of the time the computer is able to stop a reboot without any problem. Some issues are: freezes or no bootable partition found. But once more, after F9 running diagnostic, I am able to restart the computer and able to do what I have to do without any problem. I have removed important information from hard drive and have a new hard drive waiting to replace the old. The hard drive is really the issue here, or is there something else wrong?

    Other important info

Operating system: Win 7 64-bit home premium

No virus found during the analysis

All other system controls are normal

The only way to cure a bad mother with this problem should it of bin and get a usable by all the other hardware.  Here is an example: http://www.amazon.com/M5A78L-M-LX-PLUS-Micro-Motherboard/dp/B005WUUFBW

Not much on the expense and it should accept all the other materials.  Remember you should do an investigative research to make sure it will fit in the case wherever you have, etc.  Also, the Windows 7 OEM will not like the new motherboard and will require a key retail.

You can get a new office at this time of the year for a reasonable price, then look at this aspect, too.

  • PC Doctor BIOHD-2 error code

HP Pavilion FK484AV-ABA, model m4900t running windows 7 64 bit. The RAID-1 configuration.

PC crashed. Cannot restart. Starting cold, received error message failure of RAID-1 and two hard drives. PC-Doctor ran and received the following diagnoses:

Processor, memory, drives hard all OK.

    Diagnosis of startup path

    Error code: BIOHD-2

    ATTENTION: No disk is detected.

Suggestion: Turn off the system and check the drive cables are attached firmly.

Given that the PC-Doctor verified that both drives are OK, I'm assuming that the cables were also OK. Any suggestions on what may be the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go into the BIOS to see if the discs are recognized. Post your results here.

This is an unusual condition for PC Doktor to report. Normally a BIOHD-2 error code means that a hard drive has failed, but I have no doubt that both drives failed at the same time.

When I do the recovery PC Statup screen, it works only for hours, or even days... occaisonally restart itself.   It has been 4 days.   I don't know I'm done on this.    As in some of the previous discussions, the restore points that I know have been created, displays none not being created.   I made a backup, but through Norton.   Not sure how the backup will help until I get my computer runnign again.

    What should I do?

If she needs takign apart my changing computer hard drives... forget it... I've done enough of that in my life.  Rather spend time with my children.

  • HP Pavilion Elite m9515y: BIOHD-8 error message

When I called HP they told me that the error indicates that the motherboard is bad. Everywhere I look I read that it is more likely the hard. HP said, buy another computer. The computer will not start at the top. When I ran the diagnosis I got the BIOHD-8 Smart Test failed on the message to disk. It does not "System recovery." I can go to Diagnostics (F9), Setup (F10) and Boot (ESC) only. The computer is 4 years old, however, if it is not necessary to replace that I'd rather not. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. I am currently working on the issues. I took the computer into pieces at Office Max. Once the computer was reassembled the processor doesn't work anymore. Technology has suggested that the motherboard may have gone wrong and further than static discharged can be delt a final blow to the computer. I do not know. I'm just a newbie to these things. Rather than pour more money, looks like I'm going to buy another computer. Not what I was hoping. Thanks again.

  • How to fix error BIOHD-2 for windows vista

My parents computer is stuck on the blue start screen and I got this error BIOHD - 2 how fix?

    Angelarae,
Without knowing the exact model of the computer number we are unable to direct you to the exact page on the website of HP that each of their pages to support is based on the product in question.  But the error you get indicates the hard disk is defective or has failed and you need to contact HP for repair.  There is a known issue with some bad hard drives which have been manufactured by Seagate and they are replaced free of charge.  I have no way of knowing if your drive is one of them, that's why you need to contact HP.  If you go to this page:
    http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#support
and put in the model number, will need you a support for your product page.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

  • BIOHD-2 error

I have a Pavilion 6210f which began to give me a black screen with "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key_".  Running the BIOS indicates "none" under the playlists by car.  Run PC doctor diagnostics check the CPU and RAM, but returns error BIOHD-2 for hard drive.

Traded to old drive hard with a good drive from another machine and BIOS did not recognize.  Power on all cables SATA and tried all different SATA and powerconnections ports and no change.  I tried a new hard drive and the BIOS does not detect either (although I could check that drive did turn.)

I put the original disc in another computer and BIOS detected it and car seemed fine, all the files.  But it do not start the machine.

I can't find recovery discs. I am at a loss to know what to do next.  The BIOS might be corrupted?  How update the BIOS without an operating system that works?  Could this be the motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Mike

OK, reinstalled windows and have a computer to work again!  Thanks for all your help!

  • Question of HP6000 BIOHD-8

Background: I have two desktops of HPs. A small form S5120F and a P6000.

The P6000 is a BIOHD-8... error that indicates a bad disc (or bad SMART playlist).

Both are running Windows 7, the two HDs starts very well in the S5120F and both fail in the P6000.

So I doubt it's a disk problem. (by the way both pass all tests SMART through WOODS in the S5120F)

Some people blame post a bad motherboard... that's what my gut tells me too.

However, my P6000 is a great machine when running and I want it running again.

I want to know if it is a known problem with this MoBo. If so, is there a solution?

If this isn't the case, I want to know a good substitute.

The boot partition is on the HARD drive and because they work in another machine, then the disc HARD must be end. sounds like your original assumption of the motherboard is correct. There is no update of the BIOS for the motherboard you have so flashing the BIOS is not an option. If you are in warranty I suggest to contact HP support to discuss the next steps.

  • Biohd-8 error in the drive

One day I tried to install a window in my PC, then there was a problem occurred in slice, it was taking too long then I selects dignose option that appears in when we star the PC then trial was the beginning and on the second cd drive test it was a source of the error that has been BIOHD-8. I tried to remove it, but it had no effect on the error. Now what to do to remove this error?

If you are referring to a BIOHD-8 error that has been the result of a disk tests hard, then that would indicate either failure or im waiting for the failure. Replace the hard drive with a new hard drive or SSD that is compatible with your desktop computer.

Please explain what you mean by 'the second test cd player '.

  • HP Pavilion a6645f no hard drive detected BIOHD-2 error

1st off I'm no computer expert... so I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I've been looking online to the best of my ability and try everything that I have seen that I can understand how to solve the problems.

First of all, I got the cursor flashing at the top left of a black screen, now I get the boot failure message, insert the disc... I did that dance together and nothing comes of it.  Error cannot be fixed with the scan that it allows me to do using the system disk, I did.

I managed to access a screen that informed me that I have this error BIOHD-2, no hard drive not detected.

    It's a Seagate Barracuda HD 500 GB 7200.11

I removed the Panel and went there... insured all caps were closed, tried a different SATA port... and when I go into the BIOS I can not get the comp to recognize any HD is connected... all read 0 MB.

From my research I found information contradictory on this... some sound like its without a doubt a HD - sound problem is, some say it could be a motherboard problem?  Is - it necessarily one or the other based on the info I gave?  I read that I should try to connect the HD to another PC with a SATA port, but this will affect any PC I plug it somehow? Let's say another computer detects the HD when I look in the BIOS, I'll be able to extract all the files and programs from there? How will I know if the motherboard is the issue and not the HD? As ports have bad or the taking of the HD to the motherboard maybe? It is even probable, if yes?

What if it is the HD, and I can install an old HD work? Is there a way I could try to extract anything from the Seagate which is in there now?  Unfortunately, the only things that I backed up on an external are some pictures and a few digital scrapbooking files.

Still, I'm NOT a computer person so half may not even be English in computer science, but I hope I made sense. Laughing out loud

Oh, and I'm no longer in warranty... HP told me when I called this past weekend when it happened. PC is about 3 or 4 years... don't remember not that December it was bought in.

Thanks to all those who have actually tried to read and give a sense of my mess

    semperfibc,

    Thank you for your service.

Several years ago, Seagate had a problem of firmware with the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives. The reader would cease all features. Your beyond any warranty on this drive, and have no options that are financially reasonable.

Now, you need to install a replacement drive.

I hope you did your ONCE one Recovery DVD. Otherwise, you will need to buy them from HP.

You can try an external SATA to USB box with this old disc, but there is no guarantee.

  • BioHD-4 error code

My machine does not start. The diagnostic test reflects this message: BioHD-4 unitialized/corrupt start detected structure. What should I do to fix this? The machine is Compaq Presario KJ384AA-ABA

Thank you very much, Big Dave!  My son asked me to take the computer to the shop, but I went to the article that you referenced in your message.  The key for us was opening the command prompt with the recovery disk and use the bootrec command.  He's back running.  Thanks again!
