  You don't have not provided us any information about the network or hardware you use or where this neg. 30 error is reported.

  My guess is the technician tested at the level of light at your equipment and measured - 30dBmv.  Most of the optical transceivers, GBIC/SFP, have a minimum level of optical input of-17 and - 29dBmv, according to the type (SX, LX, ZX, WDM).  So,-30dB receive level would cause errors on your link.

  Check the routing of the fiber to see if there are sharp turns or the kinks.  Additionally, make sure that the connectors are clean.

  If Sims Setup calls for another drive then I guess it's looking for a second installation disk or it has encountered an error and can not read the disk it uses currently.  Make sure your disc is clean and Unscratched.  If yes you can check with the Support of EA , because they are the creators of The Sims.   "The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block" (it's second HD giving the same error msg, the last HD failed and this is used)

  "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block" (this is my CD - RW drive, which seems to work very well, it's the DVD player that is not working properly)

  "While validating this \Device\Serial0 was really a serial port, a fifo was detected. The fifo will be used. »

  All of these errors are coming together for the most part. Please help as I just replaced a hard drive failing during the summer, now it is looking like another is a failure, but I want to know if something else in my computer can cause drives to fail, or causing errors in some way, or any other information anyone can give me to help before you start the process of replacing a HD failure (again!)

  I suggest you reinstall the controller and chipset drivers by contacting the manufacturer of the computer, check to see if it helps.

  Method 2
